Viewing files in Browser

Dear all,
We are runnig OAS 10.1.2 on solaris10 .
We have a location in the OAS to store PDF documents. We are facing a strange issue in opening the PDF documents through web browser wither IE or firefox.
for example :
the URL :
http://replica.mov.cm:7778/medp3/faces/med/pdf/EN-1000426256.pdf
gives 404 message when opening and the pdf with extension .PDF (capital PDF) opening fine.. and both the files exist on the server
http://replica.mov.cm:7778/medp3/faces/med/pdf/EN-1000426256.PDF
Any idea ?
Kai

Could be a CASE issue.
What I would try to debug is to create a folder under htdocs/ and put a pdf file in there.
The url would be something like this:
ttp://test.myhost:7777/USTEST/Install PHP5 on IAS.pdf
so put the file in USTEST
I'm running a very similar version and this works on mine.
Let me know if this makes sense and if you try the debug if it works.

    Hi adityabhargava01-
    My first suggestion is to upgrade to the most recent version of Firefox by going to this link:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    My second suggestion is to read this article on how to many your preferences on how Firefox deals with PDFs and all other file types:
    [[Options window - Applications panel]]
    I hope that helps!

  • Cannot view pdf files in browser

    brand new imac cannot view PDF files in browser but the PDF's can be viewed if downloaded. All the data in the PDF online have question marks instead, maybe a missing font issue?

    Have Adobe Reader installed? If so, disable the AdobePDFViewer.plugin resident in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins., restart, and try again. For font-associated issues, peruse Font Management in OS X

  • Viewing PDF files in-browser with Firefox (17.0 as of this writing) on a Mac

    Hello there,
    since I don't remember when there has been a problem with the Adobe Reader NPAPI plug-in and Firefox. Previously, with earlier versions of Firefox and with Adobe Reader 10.x the problem was that the plug-in wasn't working properly and one got a blank page without any explanation. This led to Firefox black-listing the Adobe Reader NPAPI plug-in and having it disabled by default, if I remember correctly. Now it seems we've got the situation reversed, as if Adobe has black-listed Firefox as a browser, because when I try viewing a PDF file in-browser with the most up-to-date versions (17 and 11 for Firefox and Reader respectively), I'm getting the following error:
    Adobe Reader cannot show documents in this browser.
    We are sorry, but Adobe Reader is unable to show documents in this browser configuration.
    Please use your browser to download this file and open it in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
    To avoid this message in the future, many browsers provide a way to turn off certain add-ons, and some are able to show this document natively.
    Please contact your browser vendor for more details.
    All's well that ends well, but unfortunately we haven't seen any solution so far. With Safari 6.x the plug-in is working fine. With Firefox it isn't. Let's see what can be done: in its last sentence the error message recommends that I contact my browser vendor for more details. The wording of the first two sentences however suggests otherwise: "Adobe Reader cannot show documents in this browser. Adobe reader is unable to show documents in this browser configuration." Thus, my question is
    What is it in this browser and/or browser configuration that doesn't suit the Adobe Reader plug-in? Is it only this newest Firefox version (17) that isn't supported or is it the Firefox browser and why? Should I be able to spoof Firefox' identity and make it seem like Safari to the plug-in, what's going to happen?

    Very frustrating, but I found the fix (on another site - can't believe with 360 views, no one here knew). In Firefox, PDFs are automatically set to open with the faulty Adobe plug-in. To change it to open with Adobe Reader, check out the instructions here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pdf-files-are-blank-and-cant-be-downloaded-mac#os=mac &browser=fx16

  • Which lib to open and view office file on browser

    Hi all,
    when I receive a stream of file from server. How I can open and view this file on browser?
    My suggest: catch a stream and use library to open office file on browser, but I don't know which lib to do this.
    Thanks

    I'm confused, you're coding for the server-side, with JSP/servlets aren't you? So how can you intercept the stream at the browser? That'll be beyond your code.
    And anyway, if you set the MIME types and set the content for the response, the browser itself will decide and prompt the user for handling the file.
    If on the other hand, you want to open a file on the server and send the contents of that to the browser, you can look into Apache POI (http://poi.apache.org/) for handling Excel, Word and PowerPoint documents.

  • Why doesn't apple offer a viewer/file browser for iCloud Drive?

    Why doesn't apple offer a viewer/file browser for iCloud Drive?
    Dropbox, Microsoft’s OneDrive, and Google Drive all have viewer apps that let you see and manage what’s in the drive.  The only way you can do that with iCloud Drive is through a web browser.  Very frustrating and backward.

    I found a possible band-aid for our problem:
    1) On iOS 8 Device, go to Safari / iCloud.com
    2) Once you get to iCloud.com, you'll notice it won't give you the option to log in.
    3) Tap on the URL bar (this should bring up your bookmarks bar and Frequently Visited Sites)
    4) Tap, Hold, and Slide your finger down on that section (this will reveal two options: (1) Add to Favorites, and (2) Request Desktop Site
    5) Tap Request Desktop Site
    Log in as usual, and you can now access iCloud Drive with your PDFs and other documents like any other computer.
    I too am disappointed as I was looking forward to view PDF's shared between my Macbook and my iPad, but I think this should work until Apple comes out with a solution.

  • Can't view PDF in browser

    Running FireFox 3.6.8 - Can't view PDF files in browser. Get a messgae that basically says "Can't not display PDF file in browser. Exit Reader and your browser and try again."

    I think this message should go to all who contacted me, and for that I thank you.
    It seems I have found the problem, or at least I can now view PDF files. I disabled the FireFox Plug-in "Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4.218" which is described as "Adobe Acrobat Plug-In for FireFox and Netscape 9.3.4".
    Not being a genius at computers, I really don't know what has happened. I just know that I went into the "Tools/Addons/Plug-ins" section of FireFox and disabled the above plug-in and the next thing I know I could view PDF files.
    Again, thanks to all for trying to help

  • How can I remove the thin black border of Flash movie when viewed in a browser?

    There is a thin border at the top and left margins of my Flash movie when the .html is viewed in a browser. How can it be removed?
    Here's the movie.
    One solution suggests replacing some code, but the code they suggest replacing doesn't even exist in my html file.
    I have found questions similar to mine being asked all over different forums, but their solutions either don't work, or like the above, don't really apply. For such a common problem, finding the solution is getting a little frustrating.
    I'm using Flash CS3 on a Windows PC rrunning XP professional.

    Okay, I found the answer. It turns out that when I made the buttons in Flash (so the movie would have clickable links), the default stroke color was set to black. Change it to white and the outline is gone.
    As for appearing only on the top and left of the movie - for some reason the bottom and right is being cropped a bit when it's placed in to the html page. But that's a topic for a different discussion.

  • How to get Firefox to display pdf file in browser (Win 7, FF 19.0, AA 10.1.6, IE 9)?

    After Firefox updated to version 19, when I tried to view a pdf file, the file appeared in a strange new viewer. Seemed to work OK, but I was concerned (didn't know that it is apparently a new feature of FF 19), and wanted the Adobe viewer back.
    After a few minutes of viewing in the FF pdf viewer, a message appeared that said something like-- This viewer may not be displaying the document correctly. Would you like to use Adobe Acrobat instead?-- I clicked yes.
    Now, when I click a link for a pdf file, it will either open automatically in Adobe Acrobat (windows application, not viewer within FF), or I'll get a dialog that asks whether I want to save the file or use Adobe Acrobat to open it.
    I have followed the instructions here:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-adobe-reader-plugin-view-or-download-pdf-files?esab=a&s=view+pdf+in+browser&r=0&as=s
    Including:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them#w_using-a-pdf-reader-plugin
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them#w_check-application-settings
    Delete the mimetypes.rdf file
    Delete the pluginreg.dat file
    Let me know if you think I've missed any info that would be helpful. Now that I know the new PDF viewer is FF native, I wouldn't mind trying it out.
    Thanks!
    Who
    repair of Adobe Acrobat
    If I start IE and click a pdf link within IE, I can view a PDF file within IE, but who wants IE?

    Hi madperson,
    It seems like there is some progress. After setting pdfjs.disabled to true, when I click on a pdf link, it still only asks me if I want to open the file with (application list) or save the file. However, when I look at the options dialog>applications, the selection for pdf documents changed from use plugin to use Adobe Acrobat Reader (not plugin). I scrolled through the selection list, but the Adobe plugin was not listed. However, when I look at the add-ons screen, the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin is listed at the top. So, it seems like the plugin is installed, but firefox doesn't know it's there...somehow.
    How do I uninstall the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin and re-install? Can I just do that? Or, do I need to uninstall/reinstall the entire Adobe Acrobat Reader application?
    Thanks

  • Unable to open .htm file in browser using SharePoint 2013 ?

    On Share Point 2013 we had .htm file which was published under excel as shown below (File name t1.htm)
    As the Icon is different from normal excel file.
    My question is why the .htm file is opening in Excel when we access from SharePoint Web Interface ?
    And when we use the option "Open in Explorer" it opens the .htm file in browser.
    I need the publish .htm file needs to be open in Browser.
    Thanks for reply.

    Looking at this a little more closely, what happens is when you upload the Excel HTM file, a folder is also uploaded to the Library (but hidden outside of the WebDAV view). This folder would be named "t1_files" in your case. If this folder is present (which
    it needs to be as t1.htm references files within it, including all of the sheets), then it will attempt to open with the client application because of the association within C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.xml,
    referring to the line:
    <Mapping Key="Excel.Sheet" Value="ichtmxls.gif" EditText="Microsoft Excel" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments" OpenApp="ms-excel" />
    Removing this line will cause it to be treated as a standard HTM file, but I'm not sure how that will work out for your scenario.
    The other option is to install and configure Office Web Apps 2013 on a separate server so you can display Office documents in the browser.

  • Viewing files on CRIO

    HI,
    I have been using the RT Write Text File found in the following link. This demonstrates how to read and write to a text file on the cRIO and what I want to do is verify that the file is being created and that the appropriate data is being stored. How would I go about viewing files on the cRIO? I've been looking into using the NI Web-Based Configuration and Monitoring but I'm having issues with this. If someone can give me a bit of assistance that would be great.
    So far I've been through Max, clicked on the NI-RIO and added the developer computer into the Remote Device Access. Also from the project window, I have added the same IP address under the VI Server in the project window and clicked the enable remote panel server under the Web Server.
    I also have a question regarding to what happens to the data in a sudden shut down?
    Solved!

    Hi,
    remember, you can browse to a file on your remote RT system by opening a Windows Explorer and typing in FTP://ipaddres
    Does this work?
    This is an example how to read and write to a text file:

  • Show files in browser with JSF

    Hi,
    I'm trying to show several kinds of files in browser, but I still haven't been successful in it, it only show the binarys in browser. This my portion of code where I'm working it. In the example I'm trying too show a pdf's file but it could be, jpg, doc, xls, gif as well
         public void ver(ActionEvent e){
               // Prepare.
            FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ExternalContext externalContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
            HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) externalContext.getResponse();
            String fileName="D:\\documentacion\\tecnica\\hacia una arquitectura.pdf";
            File file = new File(fileName);
            BufferedInputStream input = null;
            BufferedOutputStream output = null;
            try {
                // Open file.
                input = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(file),10240);
                // Init servlet response.
                response.reset();
              //  response.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/pdf");
                response.setContentType("application/pdf");
                response.setHeader("Content-Length", String.valueOf(file.length()));
                response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=\"" + file.getName()+ "\"");
                output = new BufferedOutputStream(response.getOutputStream(), 10240);
                // Write file contents to response.
                byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
                int length;
                while ((length = input.read(buffer)) > 0) {
                    output.write(buffer, 0, length);
                // Finalize task.
                output.flush();
            }catch(Exception ex){
                 ex.printStackTrace();
            } finally {
                // Gently close streams.
                close(output);
                close(input);
            facesContext.responseComplete();
    }

    Very frustrating, but I found the fix (on another site - can't believe with 360 views, no one here knew). In Firefox, PDFs are automatically set to open with the faulty Adobe plug-in. To change it to open with Adobe Reader, check out the instructions here:

    HI,
    Right or control click a .PDF file then click Get Info.
    In the Get Info window click the pop up menu where you see: Open with.
    Select Safari.
    More help here. How to View PDF Files With Safari
    For Adobe. To change Safari's PDF handling back to the default. Open Adobe Acrobat and choose "Preferences" from the Acrobat menu (the main pull-down menu next to the Apple logo). In the preferences box, find the "Internet" category on the list at left and highlight it. The top "Web Browser Option" in this category will read "Display PDF in browser using Adobe Acrobat (your version)" and it will be checked. Uncheck it and click the "OK" button. If Safari is running, quit it and re-open it. Safari will then return to normal, opening PDF documents with Apple's own "Preview" application.
