Virtual PC RAM setting

Virtual PC's virtual RAM can be set up to 512MB. What's the proper RAM setting? I just installed some software in Virtual PC and I noticed the speed is severely slow, especially when launching applications.
I heard lowering virtual RAM setting would make Virtual PC run faster. Is it true? I'm using Wins XP.
Many thanks

My machine has 1.5GB physical ram...
I hear that the lower the virtual ram, the lesser the application needs to emulate, making it running faster.

  • Available ram setting in photoshop cs5 / cs6 / cc

    hello,
    i would like to know if the ram setting slider in photoshop preferences/setting is meant to be for all
    the available ram in the computer or all available ram, which stays free from all other sametime running apps?
    for example, if i run osx 10.8 or 10.9, i use to run ONLY photoshop and no other app besides, so the
    finder would need maybe 2 or 3 GB RAM, and the rest is for photoshop.
    does the ram setting count with finder ram consumption or without?
    my imac has 32GB RAM - so, if i set ram to 70% (out of 32GB) in photoshop settings, the finder can use 30% of 32GB, yes?
    anyway, it wont show "available ram is 32GB" in the settings, it shows less than 32GB would be available, so
    is this the answer to my question?
    could i set it to 80% or 90%, when i only run photoshop (cs5 / cs6 / cc) and no other app besides? (only the 10.8.5 or 10.9 finder)
    or would this mean performance lags in photoshop?
    thanks!

    I would go with the suggested ram settings in the memory slider. Going over can affect other programs other than the finder and in my experience, I have never seen much of a benefit.
    You have 32 GB so you can give it a try and if you run Mt. Lion,look at the Activity Monitor and see how it affects the memory allocated to the system.  Look at your Page outs to Page ins. Page outs should be 20% or less of Page ins. Some prefer 5%. The less the faster your machine will perform.

  • Virtual Ram Setting

    Sorry if the question is not so connected to this forum
    But what to do this is the place I most enjoy learning from him...
    can any one please tell me
    1. what is the right and Recommended setting Values for 2GB of ram on windwos xp 32 bit? (static or not..etc)
    2. and for 4GB on the same os (like u know win xp dont support 4 gb of ram)?
    tanks

    I'd go with 2 times the installed RAM amount and static (set both min/max = 4GB or 8GB depending on RAM 2GB or 4GB). Then, if you are ever running anything that needs more memory (Windows will tell you), just resize it larger. And, if this is ever the case, whatever you are doing will be VERY VERY slow!

  • Can I use the Window XP bundled with MS virtual PC in setting up boot camp?

    Hi hi,
    before having the new 24" iMac, I have MS office professional for Mac running on my 17" G5 iMac it. The bundle pack contains Window xp professional software running on Virtual pc program.
    I want to install boot camp on my new intel mac but can i use the window xp program which is bundled with MS virtual pc software for setting up boot camp?
    please advise.
    iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Technically, so long as your bundled version is XP with service pack 2 then you should be able to use it.
    Legally, no. When Windows comes with a PC, even a virtual PC, it's license is for an OEM installation. While it's still functionally the same as a copy you'd buy in the store its license is for use only with that PC it came with and no others.
    Hope this helps! bill

    the Dram timing mode, there is DCT 0, DCT 1 and both.
    Which one should i use?
    I need to change the voltage cos cpuz shows my ram running at 1.8V below the 2.1V needed to run at 1066Mhz.
    Thanks, i will try.
    CPU-Z is reading the SPD tables - it is not reading the actual VDIMM voltage.

  • [SOLVED] Virtual console font setting is not being applied

    TL;DR I want to have the ter-114b font (from the terminus-font package; its path is /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/ter-114b.psf.gz) as my console font.
    What have I done:
    % cat /etc/vconsole.conf
    KEYMAP=br-abnt2
    FONT=ter-114b
    According to the wiki, this setting should be sufficient. However, there is something wrong, because whenever I reboot my computer, I get the default font instead (I can notice that by executing setfont ter-114b, then I see the difference).
    Further information:
    % systemctl status systemd-vconsole-setup
    ● systemd-vconsole-setup.service - Setup Virtual Console

    Main PID: 193 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    CGroup: /system.slice/systemd-vconsole-setup.service
    The Wiki also mentions something about loading KMS earlier than vconsole, however I'm not sure if this refers to the part which talks about putting 'consolefont' as a mkinitcpio hook, or if this refers to the whole section. Anyways, even if I tried to follow this, the problem is the i915 hook (my notebook has an Intel graphics card) doesn't exist as a mkinitcpio module, as the wiki indicates. Or I don't have the necessary module file.
    Any clues about what could be wrong here?

  • What's a good overclockable ram set that'll run at 1066ish with low voltage?

    Does anybody have their favorite ram that they like to nominate that I buy?  I don't think my $25 ram likes me $200 processor and $250 motherboard very much.
    Preferably ones that you've overclocked on the P7N Diamond.
    Thanks.

    autumnale,
    Did d3fct change the link or something?  It says $90 shipped, the PC8500 are $150 though.

    Are they the Micron D9 DRAM modules do you know?
    No they are Powerchips IC's.  Just to share,  D9's are 512Mbit(64MB) IC's.  The most chips you can fit on a package is 16, so you'll never see a 2GB module(or 4GB-2x2GB kit) with Micron D9's.
    I don't have much experience yet with the 780i, but I have used both the GSkills and Ballistix, and both have overclock room.
    Ballistix DDR1300 with room to spare:
    http://home.comcast.net/~aicjofs/everest.jpg
    GSkill at 550Mhz, perfect buy for 4GB of RAM at $90
    http://home.comcast.net/~aicjofs/ram550.jpg
    Now I will say this about the Ballistix in general, I would just stay away from Crucials for awhile unless you don't mind RMA if it happens.  The state of things over at Crucial is just not good with respect to all the 2GB kits.  Too many sticks dying after a short while not overclocked or overvolted, Crucial swapping out the regular 8500(not the tracers) with single sided sticks that don't overclock and also die young...I personally have had to return 2 kits to them....and the IRONY is those are the 2 kits that ran at DDR500(below spec, and never overvolted)....The 16 chip Ballistix do clock like mad, but just be warned that you might not be happy with the purchase long term.

  • Pagefile/virtual memory vs. ram

    is it better to run straight in the ram than rather in the pagefile?
    what is better?

    Different Types of Memory (HD vs. RAM):
    The two, most common, kinds of memory in your computer: Hard Disk space which is usually measured in Gigs or Gigabytes(GB), and RAM which is measured in Megabytes (MB)
    Hard Drive: Think of your Hard Drive (HD) as storage space.  It is used for long term storage of large amounts of data. The HD itself is a metal disk on which your data is saved as magnetic zeros and ones (binary data).  When you turn your computer off, any data you "saved" onto the HD will remain there to be accessed again the next time you turn your computer on.  Reading files and data from the HD is fairly slow compared to the speed of RAM. When you turn your computer on, it reads the operating system, or OS, from the Hard Drive and loads it into RAM where it can be accessed very quickly.
    RAM:  RAM is better referred to as Memory.  RAM is a "chip" that plugs into a slot inside your computer.  Because it has no moving parts like a HD, data stored in RAM can be accessed very quickly.  When you open a file that you saved on your Hard Drive, a copy of the file is loaded into RAM where you can make changes to it.  You must then "save" the file if you want to make the change a permanent one.  Saving the file updates the information which is saved on your HD.  When you quit an application, the data for that program and any files you had open are removed from the RAM, freeing up the memory to be used by the next application.  When you turn off your computer, all the data which was held in RAM is removed, so any unsaved files will be lost.  The next time you turn your computer on, the OS will be loaded into RAM again. That is another reason why it's good to reboot your system before taking on any memory hungry applications (online games) if you have had your System on for awhile.
    Virtual Memory:  On a PC(most operating systems) you can turn on Virtual Memory in order to increase your RAM when you can't install an actual chip to add more physical memory.  Virtual Memory is very slow because it is using the HD (slow) to store data which is normally stored in RAM (fast).  If you must use Virtual Memory, only set it to twice the amount of the physical memory which is installed.  For example, if your computer has 32 MB of physical RAM installed, set Virtual Memory to a maximum of 64 MB.  If you change your Virtual Memory settings;  you must restart your computer to have Virtual Memory settings take effect.
    If you are getting a message on your PC about not having enough memory, it is probably a problem with your RAM and not your Hard Drive space.  Do not start deleting files off of your HD to try and free up more memory.  You either need to install more RAM (memory chips), quit other open applications to free up some RAM,  or increase the memory requirements for the specific application where you are experiencing the problem.

  • Setting up a Virtual BackPack Page on a School Website

    I'm relatively new to Adobe Business Catalyst and am learning as I go - not lots of experience -lots of trial and error.  I work in a school and our school home page has announcements on our home page that I know how to add.  They automatically drop off when the expiry date as passed.   I am trying to set up a Digital/Virtual Backpack page where we can post notices/publications about non-school related events and notices by categories (Arts, Camps, Fundraisers, Fitness, Clubs, etc.)  I've got the Virtual Backpack page set up with links to separate pages for each category and I've got those separate pages set  up as well.  Now how do I add the individual notices/events to each category page like I add the announcements in the New module?   I need them to drop off the page automatically when the date expires after the event occurs. I don't want to manually have to go in each day and check to see if the event has occurred or the notice expires.

    Thank you Test Screen Name for the link to the article 'Can't print PDFs | Mac OS X 10.6 and later'. I don't think this helps me with my problem. This is the scenario I'm struggling with: When I try to export a Microsoft Word document, I can select 'Save as Adobe PDF' from the PDF dropdown in the lower left of the Print dialogue box. However, at the top of the Print dialogue box, the only option I have available currently is Fuji Xerox Docuprint C3210, which is the only printer I have installed. My understanding is that Word always queries the printer driver for the size of it's non-printing margins. Consequently, it does not send print data for the margin zones to the PDF and I lose the full bleed. This is why I want to install a virtual PDF printer - because it would not have non-printing margins, and then Save as Adobe PDF would work correctly re the bleed.
    If this is not possible, is there another workaround?
    Thanks
    Robert

  • More detail and a reply for the CQ50 - 130US will not boot with 8gb ram post

    The specs, on the web site say that the  max memory supported is 3GB DDR2 because the notebook was built with the OS Vista(32 bit) installed so that’s why the manual has the 3 GB max. memory supported limit. The 32 bit OS can’t address memory over 3.12 GB.   To my mind that is not a spec. but rather a tech. writer who made a mistake and copied the sales literature.  With Windows 7(64 bit) Pro. installed the OS can address up to192GB of memory if the system supports it.  Other Compaq and HP Notebooks can deal with 8GB of memory installed. That’s why I would think HP’s could easily fix this with a patch or use one of their other BIOS’s.
    The difference between 4GB and 6GB is that with 6GB system runs faster and the display quality has improved.  I have set the cache size to large and the executive paging is set to off in the registry. The menu(System Properties - Performance Options – Advanced – Virtual Memory) is set to automatically manage the paging file size.

    You should keep it in the original; thread you started.

  • 3.5.1 on Mac OS X 10.6: no more virtual clusters?

    Prior to 10.6 and 3.5.1, I set up virtual clusters with as many instances as I had cores on my MacPro. And this worked great. My H.264 files rendered so much faster with the 8 instance than rendering to the single instance "My Computer" method and it was amazing.
    Now with 10.6 and 3.5.1 and with the same 8 instance cluster setting the machine totally chokes. The UI gets really really slow and I tried it with even only 6 instances selected. Is this because 10.6 can utilize multi-cores much more efficiently on the OS level where we don't need to use all those instances in qmaster anymore?
    Wanted to see if anyone else noticed this.
    Thanks!

    HI Jamie just a thought.. are your rendering or TRANSCODING here? try to resolve this by:
    • making sure that each instance of COMPRESSOR (from qmaster) is not using a load of REAL MEMORY.
    • look for MALLOC errors in the /var/log relating to other apps failures
    • avoid any paging/swapping (see activity monitor)
    For example if you use COMPRESSOR.app under qmaster for rendering out say MOTION projects (as you do).. it uses the TRANSCODING engines for this apparently.... , you will find that due to motion.apps resource setup that it will use a tonne of REAL MEMORY for all its OBJECTS, and this again for each INSTANCE of the COMPRESSOR task.
    YOu can easily see this REAL MEMARY (not virtual) usage in the /utilities/activity monitor.app
    SUrprisingly all my 12GB of RAM was swamped by some MOTION projects and I had to back the qmaster tasks instances on this machine to only 6 when I had in fact up to 16 available!. In this case each motion instances wanted 1.4GB of REAL MEMORY .. do the maths is easy.
    The slow down can easily be determined if you have a great deal I/O for paging and swapping. You can see that again in the graphic display in the activity monitor. This will grind you system to a snails pace if it does.
    SO you need to be either conservative wit the use of virtual clusters or set you batches up in blocks with manual tweaking of the instance numbers for compressor.
    I believe the "algorithm" implementation (according to forums) of the 3.5 version of compressor/qmaster has been improved to utilise the cores better for SEGMENTED work.
    Summary: I'd start looking here (regardless of use of motion or not) and see if it is a REAL MEMORY over use. YOu wanna leave at least 500MB available else you will start causing crippling slowdowns while OSX pages Virtual memory in and out of the startup disk.
    start here I think and look in the /var/logs (console.app) for errors.

  • 8G's of RAM vs 4G's

    I have 8 gigs of ram on my MacBook Pro. How do I make sure I take full advantage of having that much memory? So far whenever I watch the activity monitor I'm usually using about 2-3 gigs at the most so the 4 gigs would have been plenty to handle that. And now that I updated from snow leopard to mavericks they're showing that they have been able to compress memory from 4 to 6 which means I now have 12 gigs of compressed memory. All I want to do is really do something that uses 12 gigs of ram. I've never been able to get the ram to go beyond 2-3. I've downloaded movies, tons of music. I've put pictures and videos on it so much that I've filled my hard drive. I guess partly I just don't know what having 8 gigs is good for. I bought it thinking my computer would be crazy fast by doubling the ram, but people say the internet will only allow you to do so much what your connection speed allows so I thought ok that's fine. It doesn't require any internet to play a game or upload videos and photos or burn a cd. Well one of my old room mates showed me an example on his PC before I got my Mac what having 12 gigs did. He converted some songs on iTunes into mp3 format for me. When he did it, 12 songs at a time were using 1 gig each and we had 36 songs done in about 3 minutes. Well I have transferred music to my iPhone. I've transferred movies at the same time. I've just tried so hard to make my computer do things that would overload its memory capacity. But every time I've watched the activity monitor, I have only used about 3 gigs at the most.
    I just want to know if there's some kind of setting or something I can change that will let my computer know that it's ok to stress out and over work itself to death because if it would just try it would find out that it has super powers and it can't be overworked?
    Please help me if you know the answer to this. My Mac is indeed fast, but it's like, what do I have to do to force it to be bulletproof? I wanted to make videos on it as well so that's why I bought the 8 gigs before I even opened it out of the box. I still have yet to understand how to put videos together a and edit them with iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I have both on my computer. If someone can help me figure that out too, that would be appreciated as well.
    And one final question. I have an external hard drive that I bought. (1TB) I was wondering how do I make it automatically save things to it and use it as an external hard drive and not a super duper way over sized mega jump drive? I have a 300gig hard drive and so after backing that up I should be able to have a full hard drive plug that in and suddenly have 700 gigs of free space but instead all I have is a full hard drive and no way of installing 5 new digital copy movies until I figure out which others I need to delete off my computer and transfer onto my external hard drive so that I can download 1 at a time, delete it after transferring it and then downloading the next one. To me it just seems like such a waste of time and also disk activity of being written on erased, written on erased, written on erased. Can't I just partition my external hard drive somehow or something so that I can plug it in and start downloading a digital copy movie right from the DVD to the external hard drive and just leave my computer alone bypassing even trying to use internal free space?

    to add to the above post having more RAM than you presently need adds nothiing to the overalll speed of the system. But if you don't have enogh RAM for the programs you use that will slow the system down as now the OS has to use hard drive space as virtual physical RAM which is much slower than Real RAM.
    So it is a trade off. But having more RAM then you normally use is much better then not having enough.

  • Setting Reservation Levels for a VM

    The vcloud usage meter says this:
    Net points = (vGB hours X points per 1 GB reserved RAM)/hours per month
    During one 30-day calendar month, a Service Provider uses the vCloud Service Provider Bundle – Premier Edition to configure his or her virtual machine with 16 vGB for 15 days and 48 vGB for the remaining 15 days. The reservation level for the virtual machine is set at 75 percent for the entire month.
    15 days x 24 hours x 16 vGB x 0.75 = 4,320 vGB hours
    15 days x 24 hours x 24 vGB (48 vGB x 0.75 but capped at 24GB) = 8,640 vGB hours
    Total vGB hours = 12,960 vGB hours
    Total points = 12,960 vGB hours ÷ 720 hours/month x 7 points (for Premier) = 126 points
    Where do I "set the reservation level" for a VM?  Is this talking about setting individual VM reservations in vCenter Server, or about doing something in the vCloud Usage meter itself?

    Hi. The reservation level is set for each VM, using a vSphere Client or API.

    For Head instance port 2400 is for HTTPS and port 22 is for SSH and for Node0 instance port 43211 is for SSH.
    But I am having problem with doing a ssh on Head instance. Sometimes it works sometimes doesn't. Same problem with HTTPS also.
    I have some application running over there but when i try to access it thru browser sometimes it works but most of the time doesn't. When I restart the instances from azure portal, its works after
    that(not always but most of the time).
    Now I am confused what is going on there. I am creating cloud service and virtual machines using java sdk and setting input endpoints also. After creation of all instances i restart every instance programmatically .
    I am not sure whether restart is required or not. It must be something to do with input endpoints only but not able to get the right thing i guess. When i do the same thing thru azure portal(creation of cloud service with virtual machines and setting up input
    end points) everything works fine but not achieving the result when implementing it by java sdk API. Please help me.

    HI Nithin,
    Thanks for your reply. I am setting the endpoints after creating my instances using update call. Here's the code snippet.
    AzureService aServ = new AzureService(session);
     if(aServ.checkNameAvailability(clusterName)) {
               aServ.createHostedService(clusterName, "dbX cluster");
             // Creating head instance
             aServ.createHead(clusterName, imgName, headType, userName, pswd);
            // Setting end points for head node
             String name = "ssh";
             int port = 22;
             aServ.updateVMInputEndpoint(clusterName, "Head", name, port);
             // Restarting head instance
             aServ.restartVM(clusterName, "Head");
           String roleName = "Node";
           String tmpRoleName = "";
           for(int i=0; i<noi; i++) {
                      port = 43210+(i+1);
                      tmpRoleName = roleName + i;
                   // Creating node instance
                    aServ.createVM(clusterName, tmpRoleName, imgName, nodeType, userName, pswd);
                  // Setting end points for node instance
                   aServ.updateVMInputEndpoint(clusterName, tmpRoleName, name, port);
                  // Restarting node instance
                 aServ.restartVM(clusterName, tmpRoleName);
          // Method to update the input endpoint details
          public void updateVMInputEndpoint(String clusterName, String vmName, String name, int port)
            throws Exception {
                    VirtualMachineGetResponse resp = computeManagementClient.getVirtualMachinesOperations().
                                                            get(clusterName, clusterName, vmName);
                    VirtualMachineUpdateParameters updateParameters = new VirtualMachineUpdateParameters();
                    //get the configuration list
                    ArrayList<ConfigurationSet> configlist = resp.getConfigurationSets();
                    //get inputendpoint list and update it
                    ArrayList<InputEndpoint> endpointlist = configlist.get(0).getInputEndpoints();
                    InputEndpoint inputEndpoint = new InputEndpoint();
                    inputEndpoint.setEnableDirectServerReturn(false);
                    inputEndpoint.setPort(port);
                    inputEndpoint.setLocalPort(port);
                    inputEndpoint.setName(name);
                    inputEndpoint.setProtocol(InputEndpointTransportProtocol.TCP);
                    endpointlist.add(inputEndpoint);
                    // Open port for https on head node
                    if(vmName.equals("Head")) {
                            inputEndpoint = new InputEndpoint();
                            inputEndpoint.setEnableDirectServerReturn(false);
                            inputEndpoint.setPort(2400);
                            inputEndpoint.setLocalPort(2400);
                            inputEndpoint.setName("https");
                            inputEndpoint.setProtocol(InputEndpointTransportProtocol.TCP);
                            endpointlist.add(inputEndpoint);
                    updateParameters.setConfigurationSets(configlist);
                    //required for update
                    OSVirtualHardDisk osVirtualHardDisk = resp.getOSVirtualHardDisk();
                    updateParameters.setOSVirtualHardDisk(osVirtualHardDisk);
                    updateParameters.setRoleName(resp.getRoleName());
                    OperationResponse updtResp = computeManagementClient.getVirtualMachinesOperations().update(clusterName, clusterName, resp.getRoleName(), updateParameters);
    And every time i am creating a new cloud service along with head and node instances. Region is "South Central US".
    I am setting ProvisionGuestAgent field to true at instance creation time. Thank you.

  • Help with installing Windows 95 on Windows 7 64 bit Home Virtual PC

    I apologize in advance.  I am new to using Virtual PC and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.  I am trying to create a virtual Windows 95 on my Windows 7 Home 64b computer in Virtual PC.  I have the original W95 cd, and I was able to
    create a Win95 boot disk.
    What I've done so far is:
    Create a Virtual drive in VPC.
    Attempt to install W95 using the cd.  The virtual system didn't install it.
    Created a W95 boot disk using a USB floppy drive.  The virtual system doesn't seem to access the USB floppy.
    Tried to enter the BIOS menu in the virtual drive and set the floppy as the initial boot drive.  The system doesn't access the floppy.
    Please let me know if you need any more info to answer this question.  Thanks!
    RK

    virtual machines won't detect usb floppy drives
    (you might also run into issues trying to install win95 on a 64 bit system not sure though)
    what you need to do is create a floppy image first
    Also use VMWARE player for win95.. virtual pc doesn't work well for it in windows 7
    so if you want to create a floppy image
    first download magiciso (it's free)
    go to new - floppy - 1.44
    copy the files from the usb floppy onto the newly created image
    save it
    now go to the image in your browser and change the extension from .ima to .flp (for VMWARE) or .img (for virtual pc)
    now you can mount the floppy image instead of using the drive all together :)
    here's an alternative method for installing windows 95 on a virtual machine as well
    installing windows 95 and CD driver manually without the floppy setup disk
    what you need:
    .DOS on a floppy or on an image (.flp .img)
    .Windows 95 cd
    .VMWARE player (it's free) or virtualpc (I recommend VMWARE)
    .Magiciso (the free trial version will do)
    .a copy of MSCDEX.EXE and oakcdrom.sys (both can be found online)
    step 1
    create a new virtual machine (make sure to add a floppy image drive if you are using vmware)
    step 2
    put your dos floppy/image in or mount it and install dos
    step 3
    download and install the free version of magiciso
    open magic iso
    go to new - floppy - 1.44
    find a copy of mscdex.exe
    find a copy of oakcdrom.sys (generic cd rom driver that works with dos.. might have to try another if it doesn't work)
    RENAME the oakcdrom.sys to cdrom.sys
    drag both these files into magic iso on the floppy disk we just created
    save the file
    close magic iso
    find the file we just saved in your explorer
    change the extension from .ima to .flp (if you are using vmware) or .img (if you are using virtualpc)
    (if you can't see the extensions you're going to need to change your folder options to show extensions)
    google it. it's easy to do
    step 4
    go back to your virtual machine
    mount the floppy image we just created
    a:\
    copy mscdex.exe c:\
    copy cdrom.sys c:\
    (don't forget to rename oakcdrom.sys to cdrom.sys in step 3)
    step 5
    find config.sys in your c drive
    type:
    edit config.sys
    now add a line that says this
    device=c:\cdrom.sys /d:mscd001
    exit and save
    step 6
    find autoexec.bat in your c drive
    type:
    edit autoexec.bat
    now add a line that says this
    c:\mscdex.exe /d:mscd001
    exit and save
    step 7
    restart the computer or virtual machine
    step 8
    we're still not done yet
    now move to your c drive and type
    mscdex.exe: /d:mscd001 /M:5 /V /L:d /S /K
    (this part /M:x refers to the amount of buffers your drive has.. it's either 4 or 5. usually 5)
    step 9
    create a blank floppy image either in vmware or magic iso then mount that new one
    put your windows 95 cd in the cd drive
    type:
    d:\
    setup.exe
    step 10
    it should be booting windows 95 now
    now you might run into troubles when it tries to install the other drivers
    it might ask you for windows floppies even if you're using the cd version
    which I never understood
    but anyways, you can find all of these drivers on the windows 95b cd if you have it
    they're all in cab files
    so you'd need to extract them 1 by 1 and put them on floppy images to use them.
    (huge pain)
    but I actually just got it to load the drivers off the win95 cd by just trying it over and over again until
    it worked. it might have been because I either did or didn't restart after putting in the windows 95 cd
    can't remember, but I'd try both if you're having trouble
    all in all windows 95 is incredible wonky to install in a virtual machine. I highly recommend using VMWARE
    and not virtual pc for this one.
    If you didn't have a hard time installing this.. you got incredible lucky
    make sure you check to make sure windows95 is seeing your cd drive
    if not go to the add new hardware wizard in the control panel and see if that detects it
