• How should I do for my Tab Bar icon???(For iPhone 4)

I have already had the design. However, there are two resolutions:
30 x 30 pixels
About 60 x 60 pixels (high resolution)
Are they the same way to implement?
What is the implementation there???
I tried to put the icon file(png file) in my resources section of my Xcode, and then add the file from the attributes window of the tab bar. But It turned out that the image couldn't be shown, it was a square of gray color, no lines, no figures!
How come? What should I do?
Thanks a lot!!!

From the linked document:
For tab bar icons, create an icon in the following sizes:
For iPhone and iPod touch:
About 30 x 30 pixels
About 60 x 60 pixels (high resolution)
For iPad:About 30 x 30 pixels
Note: The icon you provide for toolbars, navigation bars, and tab bars is used as a mask to create the icon you see in your application. It is not necessary to create a full-color icon.
Use Preview, GraphicConverter, etc....see the Mac App Store for image editors and add an alpha channel to your image...size it, and add it to the bundle.

I tried Classic Theme Restored and most of it works well, but it's like I have to choose between every tab having a very small border (tabs not on top 1), or tabs having a thick gray border like in 16... EXCEPT the actie tab. (tabs not on top 2.) Can someone help?

• Tab Bar/Titlebar Acts Up while Menu Bar is Hidden

While the menu bar is hidden (made to require ALT to be pressed to be visible), the tab bar suddenly becomes overlayed with the titlebar (making the Windows titlebar and minimize/maximize/close buttons appear over the tab bar) whenever anything on the top of the window is interacted with.
Does the same thing in Firefox Safe Mode (no addons). I'm submitting this form in Safe Mode.

Set the pref browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar to false on the about:config page.

• Can't open new tabs with double left click on tab bar in FF29.0.1?

I've always enjoyed how tabs work in FF, mainly with them being on the bottom (which I had to find a work-around for by making the userChrome.css file - the "about:config" modification no longer works) and also being able to double left click on the tab bar to create new tabs.
With the most recent update, double left clicking on the tab bar no longer has a function, and to create new tabs, I must now middle click. It's not a big deal really, but is there a way to change this back?
I searched through some options on the "about:config" page, searched "tab" and found an option there: "browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick" that seemed promising. I changed the value to "False" but it didn't change anything - in fact, middle clicking still creates new tabs.
I tried adding a modified function with "leftclick" in it, just to see if it might do anything but, nothing.
Any other suggestions for restoring the double left click function to create new tabs? Thanks!

''Hydrilus wrote:''
browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick
If set to false, middle-clicking links on web pages opens them in a new window. It probably also affects bookmarks, history entries, and items in the address bar drop-down menu.

You need an add-on. Here are two I know about:
* [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer]. In the add-on's option window, click the Special tab and check "Tabs toolbar: double click opens a new tab"
* [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/ Tab Mix Plus]. In the add-on's option window, click the Mouse icon, then the Mouse Clicking tab, then the Double-click tab below that. [http://tmp.garyr.net/support/viewpage.php?t=3&p=mouse-clicking The Tab Mix Plus help page] has more details.

• How do I open new tabs at the end of the tab bar?

Recently switched over from Internet Explorer. One of things I liked about IE was if I adjusted some of the tabbed browsing settings, whenever I opened a link in a new tab, it opened it at the very end of the tab bar. No tab grouping, no opening next to the current tab. Seems like a pretty simple thing, but I just can't figure out how to set that up in Firefox.
Any suggestions on how to take care of that? Thanks!

You can set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

• Any way to turn off Safari's full screen, auto hide tab bar mode?

FInally took the plunge and upgraded to iOS 8 on one of our i-devices. Really like the Panorama camera mode-- well done, Apple!
However, I was staggered to find that Safari now hides the tab bar as soon as you start scrolling down a web page! What's with that? I guess lots people wanted a full screen mode. OK, but for the rest of us, is there an option to turn off that mode and keep the tabs permanently visible?
With the new set up (now old to many of you), it takes 2 taps every time you want to close a tab or move to another one. That gets old fast! Plus, the animation each time is visually distracting and tiring and also gets tiresome. My browsing involves a lot of switching among tabs, so this is a real step backwards.
Hope there's a work around! Otherwise, we're going to have to leave our iPad Air at iOS 7!

Jim, appreciate the reply. Yes, I have submitted it as feedback to Apple!
I also stumbled upon the tap at top... The scroll upwards, though, rarely works for me! For example, here on this site one has to scroll down a long way, quickly. (It gets confusing, doesn't it? One slides down to scroll upwards!)
In browsing today, I realized that my habit is to come to the end of a story, then tap the close button on the tab bar, which takes me to the next tab and its story. Now, under iOS 8, I end up having to tap, watch the animation, then locate the button, and tap again. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a nuisance when one is moving from tab to tab reading news stories.
Of course, if I could wave a magic wand and fix just one thing about the iOS, it would be the incredibly lousy handling of contractions via auto-correct. It virtually never works unless one slows their typing down to the speed of molasses! I've used the feedback on that one, too, but iOS 8 in any of its incarnations has not fixed that!

• How can I move the tab bar to the bottom, and how do I get my reload and stop buttons back?

The new version of Firefox has repositioned my tab bar to the top and I cannot move it to the bottom. I tried about:config, but browser.tabs.ontop was already set to false - very curious, since this should have solved my problem in the first place.
In the new version of Firefox I cannot get my reload and stop buttons back again.

Firefox uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.
*You get a Stop button during page loading that changes to a Reload button when the page has finished loading
*You get a Go button if you modify the location bar content
*Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab

• In FF 29.0, how to move the address bar on the top of the tabs bar?

It is OK in Firefox 28 and lower to set browser.tabs.onTop=false to move the address bar on the top of the tabs bar. But in Firefox 29, I can not find the browser.tabs.onTop
who can tell me how to move the address bar to the top of the tabs bar?

• (Chrome Like) Auto-Hide Tab bar in Safari Full Screen mode

Is there a plugin or some other way to auto hide the tab bar in Safari fullscreen mode like the way Chrome does?
This is the only thing stopping me from using Safari, it's way smoother than Chrome and feels much more native to Lion, but the fact the tab bar just keeps hanging there is annoying.
I tried the Cmd+I method mentioned in the community, but it only works when you're only opening one tab, if you open several tabs, the tab bar will show up again. It also comes back up once you exit Full Screen mode.
Thanks for your help !

Hello myzzzl, this is normal behavior in full screen mode, you can set the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.fullscreen.autohide browser.fullscreen.autohide] in about:config to False, to change that, but if you do that tabs and location bar is enabled in full screen mode.
wait if another contributor/helper give you a code which I don't know.
thank you

• How to disable a tab in a spark tab bar?

I have a spark tab bar linked to a ViewStack. In olden days, IIRC, setting the enabled property of a viewstack member would set the corresponding tab inactive. However, if I try that now, the tab control is still active, but the contents of the viewstack for that tab is indeed disabled.
To reiterate: I want certain tabs in a spark tab bar to be disabled (i.e. unable to be chosen and displaying their disabled skin state).
<s:TabBar id="tabBar" dataProvider="{tabStack}" x="70" y="91" skinClass="CalculatorTabsSkin"/>
<mx:ViewStack id="tabStack" width="100%" height="100%" creationPolicy="all" change="tabStack_changeHandler(event)">
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc1" label="PIERS">
<comp:Tab1 id="tab1" width="100%" height="100%" continue="tab1_continueHandler(event)" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc2" label="FOOTINGS">
<comp:Tab2 id="tab2" width="100%" height="100%" continue="tab2_continueHandler(event)" numberOfPiers="{totalNumberPiers}" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc3" label="BAGS OR TRUCK?">
<comp:Tab3 id="tab3" width="100%" height="100%" totalCubicYards="{totalCubicYards}" totalNumberBags="{totalNumberBags}" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
</mx:ViewStack>

Addendum:
Literally two minutes after I got back to actually working, I found a more "elegant" solution. I posted it elsewhere, but I guess I forgot to share it here. =/ So I thought I'd update this real quick. =)
If you apply a custom skinClass to your tab bar you can bind the tab.enabled property just like you'd expect/want.

<fx:Script>

[Bindable] private var tab2IsReady:Boolean = false;
private function checkCriteria():void{
tab2IReady = someOtherThing.isFinished;//Boolean

</fx:Script>
<s:TabBar id="theTabBar"
dataProvider="{viewStack}"
skinClass="skins.CustomTabBarSkin"/>
<mx:ViewStack id="viewStack">
<s:NavigatorContent label="Tab index 0">

</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent label="Tab index 1" enabled="{tab2IsReady}">

</s:NavigatorContent>
</mx:ViewStack>

When you type "skinClass" use the auto complete to generate the custom skin (named whatever you want).
The generated code will appear like below (I left out the Script tag).

<s:Skin
xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:fb="http://ns.adobe.com/flashbuilder/2009"
alpha.disabled="0.5">
<fx:Metadata>

* @copy spark.skins.spark.ApplicationSkin#hostComponent
[HostComponent("spark.components.TabBar")]

</fx:Metadata>

<s:states>
<s:State name="normal" />
<s:State name="disabled" />
</s:states>

<s:DataGroup id="dataGroup" width="100%" height="100%">
<s:layout>
<s:ButtonBarHorizontalLayout gap="-1"/>
</s:layout>
<s:itemRenderer>
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin" />
</fx:Component>
</s:itemRenderer>
</s:DataGroup>
</s:Skin>

Then add the enabled property to the ButtonBarButton & bind it to data.enabled in your skin class.
Change:
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin" />
</fx:Component>
To:
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin"
enabled="{data.enabled}" />
</fx:Component>
Then any <s:NavigatorContent/> used with a TabBar using that skin will respect the enabled property and do exactly what you expect & want (be enabled when true, & disabled when false).
Hope this helps some people. WIsh I'd remembered to re-post it here when I first figured it out.
Happy Coding! =D

• Loading a Tab Bar Controller

Hi,
I am trying to make an iPhone application where there will be a settings view that is made of a tab bar controller. I have declared the tabBarController, and linked it to the app delegate in the main window.xib file. However, when I try to switch to it by pressing my button that should start the IBAction to switch to it, the app terminates due to an uncaught exception. Here is my code:
-(void)switchToSettings {
[UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL];
[UIView setAnimationDuration:1.5];
[UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:window cache:YES];
[[gameViewController view] removeFromSuperview];
[self.window addSubview:[settingsTabBarController view]];
[UIView commitAnimations];
gameViewController = nil;
Someone please help! Thanks in advance.

if there is a way to trigger a custom action when you click an item in a tab bar controller instead of loading a view.
I think the implementation would depend on whether you wanted the custom action item to remain "selected", and if so, for how long? In other words, is the action item momentary or selectable? In either case, can we assume that tapping the action item leaves the current view visible? If not, what will the user see? Will the action item be visible from all the other views?
As you know, normally, when you click an item in a tab bar it is going to load a view right? \[emphasis added by friendly neighborhood helper\]
If you see most of us nodding, "yes", in agreement, it might be time to review [Tab Bars|http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UserExperience/Con ceptual/MobileHIG/SpecialViews/SpecialViews.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40006556- CH10-SW13] in the +iPhone Human Interface Guidelines+. Make sure your idea doesn't do something tab bars aren't expected to do. If you're not sure, look at some of the other UI options, e.g. [Toolbars|http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UserExperienc e/Conceptual/MobileHIG/SpecialViews/SpecialViews.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP4000 6556-CH10-SW10], to see if there's a better fit for what you're doing.
