Visio Database Wizard Error

I try to connect visio 2013 to a sql database. Purpose is to have shape data in sql database (not in excel or access).
I use the database wizard from the Add-Ons section in Visio and whatever existing table I select or whatever table I create from within this wizard (Define Table option) I get the following Visio Database Wizard Error:
'The selected table has one field or contains no definition information. The Database Wizard requires a minimum of one key field and one additional data field.'
Note that I tested succesfully to export the complete existing drawing to a database table using one of the other options and that I get exactly the same error when pointing to this exact table in sql server when starting the database wizard.
To be complete: I use Visio 2013 pro and SQL 2008 R2 Express edition.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
To the error message, the reason this error occurs is that the length of the Filepath to the sql database is too long. Visio has a hard limitation of 128 characters for a complete path.
There are a couple of ways to avoid this issue.
1. On a local drive, move the files to a location ‘higher’ in the folder list, to shorten the full pathname.
2. For a remote share, change the level of the drive letter mapping to a higher level to shorten the full pathname.

  • Visio Database Wizard fails - ODBC connection to MS SQL

    When I try to create an ODBC connection in Visio's 2010's Database wizard I get the error: "Cannot set the database context information. Additional error information:ODBC Error: s1009. Database cxweba does not exist."
    Note that the database name is cxwebapp_bkk. I get the same error if I connect to any database on that server, and it always truncates the name in the error message (if that is a hint to the error).
    Using Visio 2013, after connecting to the database: when I select the database object I get the error message:  "The selected table has only one field or contains no definition information. The Database Wizard requires a minimum of one key field
    and one additional data field."
    I have this problem using both SQL Server driver (6.02.9200.116384 and SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (2011.1102.2100.60).
    I do not have this problem connecting to a MYSQL database with either version of Visio, nor do I have this problem when I link link to the same SQL database in a drawing and link shapes in that drawing using the "Link Data to Shapes" under the
    Data tab.

    Hello,
    What's the version of the SQL Server instance you connect to? It seems that the Database Wizard in Visio 2010 not work well with the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. Did you try to use the Generic OLEDB Provider for SQL Server?
    Since the issue is more related to office Visio, please post the question in the following forum. More experts there will assist you:

    Hi scogordo,
    From your description, are you using SSMS 2008 R2 to perform the copy action?  I make a test on my computer, and get the same error as yours. To work around this issue, please use SSMS 2012 to copy database from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012.
    There is a feedback to Microsoft about the issue for your reference.

    This issue might be caused by the insufficient permission for the SQL Agent account, please check the SQL Agent service account has sufficient permissions to the various folders. For detail information, please take a look at the following article:

    But the table name is not visible under System databases--> master --> Tables --> System Tables in my DESTINATION database alone.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response :). When I tried to attach the the database (.mdf and .ldf) and create a new database in DESTINATION server, it works fine. Only using "Copy database wizard" I face this problem. I am attempting this functionality from
    the SQL Server 2012 instance
    The Instances are not in same version. Find the specific details below for @@Version.
    SOURCE Server Instance
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP3) - 10.0.5500.0 (X64)
    Sep 21 2011 22:45:45
    Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation
    Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.0 <X64> (Build 6002: Service Pack 2) (VM)
    DESTINATION Server Instance
    Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3000.0 (X64)
    Oct 19 2012 13:38:57
    Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation
    Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.2 <X64> (Build 9200: ) (Hypervisor)
    When you use the copy database functionality, your database gets upgraded to match the destination server version. The database cannot be downgraded, which is fine in your case. It could be a bug in the upgrade process between these two specific sql server
    versions though.
    Can you make a test with another destination instance, with the same version as the original destination (2012 SP1) just to rule out the possibility of system database corruption?
    Does this happen with only a single database, or does the wizzard fail for any database you try to copy?
    I have the "u_tables.sql" file which has the scripts for some master database tables. In the process of trying to rebuild the system database and if I lose the master DB contents, will executing the "u_tables.sql" be sufficient to restore
    the details?? Many DB's are available in the server, so the risk is very high.
    No. However, your application databases won't be affected. You'll lose all your server objects, including but not limited to logins, linked servers, backup triggers, server roles, etc. You'll also lose the contents of the msdb database (jobs, database mail
    configurations, backup history, maintenance plans, etc). Please refer to the article I sent you for more information. It contains safety instructions on how to backup most of these objects.
    Try to do the tests I suggested above before rebuilding your system databases.
    Is there any restrictions for "Copy database wizard" which I am missing here?
    No I dont think so. Based on the information you provided, it should be working.

  • OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard Error - Cannot Connect to Oracle DB

    I appreciate any and all suggestions or thoughts on how to best continue troubleshooting this error that I am describing below.
    I am attempting to install Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite 11g on a Windows 7 machine…in following the installation guides I have successfully installed the following Oracle Components
    - Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0
    - Created Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3
    - Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.3.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.2.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.3.0 (Patch Set)
    - Oracle IAM SUITE 11.1.1.3.0
    Following the above installations, I created a new WebLogic Domain and as the next step am running the OIM Configuration Wizard to configure the OIM Server, however I am unable to setup a connection to the Oracle DB via the OIM Configuration Wizard. I am getting an error message when attempting to setup the connection to the Oracle Database using the OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard:
    ERROR:*
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    *+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    *+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
    When installing the Oracle Database 11gR2 I used the following install configuration:
    Oracle base: C:\MyApps\Oracle
    Software location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\11.2.0\dbhome_1
    Database file location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\oradata
    Database Edition: Personal Edition (3.27 GB)
    Character Set: Unicode (AL32UTF8)
    Global database name: orcl.dev.com
    Administrative Password: Password1
    Confirm Password: Password1
    When creating my Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3 I used the following Database Connection Details
    DB TYPE: Oracle Database
    HOST NAME: localhost
    PORT: 1521
    SERVICE NAME: orcl.dev.com
    USERNAME: sys
    PASSWORD: Password1
    ROLE: SYSDBA
    I used a Prefix of “DEV” when creating the schemas so Schema Owners DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS where created. Also, I configured to use the same password for all Schemas: “Password1″. So the password for DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS should be the same, “Password1″.
    REPRODUCING THE ERROR
    To reproduce the error, when I launch the Oracle Identity Management 11g Configuration Wizard I am first brought to the “Welcome” Screen. I click the [Next>] button.
    Next, I am on the “Components to Configure” screen where I select OIM Server and OIM Design Console and click the [Next>] button. (NOTE I have also tested by simply selecting only the OIM Server)
    Next, I am on the “Database” screen where I enter the connection information
    Connection String: localhost:1521:orcl.dev.com
    (NOTE I have also tested using localhost:1521:orcl)
    OIM Schema User Name: DEV_OIM
    OIM Schema Password: Password1
    MDS Schema User Name: DEV_MDS
    MDS Schema Password: Password1
    When I click the [Next>] button after entering the Database Connection details I encounter the following two errors (1 error for each logon DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS)
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    TROUBLESHOOTING
    NOTE: I can successfully start the Oracle DB Services and connect via the Enterprise Console, SQL Plus, and JDBCTest Java Client…I just cannot get past this connection error in the OIM Server Configuration Wizard.

    The command completed successfully

    Whenever installing oracle databases, i install the software only first. Then i setup the listener. Then i create a database instance using the dbca tool. This way all the information is added to the pre-existing listener configurations rather than trying to create the listener afterwards. Also, during the dbca database creation, i supply a full service name such as orcl.hostname and use the service name in future configurations where it asked. This usually solves any issues of the listener or database not being found correctly.

  • Missing Database Wizards in Beta 1

    Has anyone found the Flex Builder 3 database wizards as
    described by Matt Chotin in
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex3_whatsnew.html
    Are they included in beta 1 or not ?
    Do they run on Mac OS X or are they stupidly Windows only
    (very lame in the not-buying-license way if that is the case)
    Installing FB3 as plugin to Eclipse 3.2.2+WTP 1.5+DTP 0.9
    gives a 'Create Database Accessor' toolbar item.
    Clicking it gives
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
    org/eclipse/datatools/connectivity/internal/ConnectionProfileManager
    in PDE Error Log view.
    Which looks like something wrong with DTP install - which
    wizards might be depending on ?
    Ideas anyone ?

    I figured this out - it might have existed in Beta 1, but I would not have noticed. Here is what I think is the situation.
    I only created Beta 1 apps using Excel spreadsheets. My image locations pointed to image feeds on the web and not locally, and took a few seconds too load before the app would display and there was a white intermediary screen after the splash, but before
    the first page. I believe I posted a while back that this annoyed me.
    I had an "ah HA" moment and created a new app from scratch with beta 2 that only used an Excel spreadsheet as a data source. SAME behavior, mostly. I did see the extended splash screen display (after I messed with the images and colors so that I could see
    that there was an extended splash and when it displayed).
    On a hunch, I added a REST data source that I am not currently using to the project and republished, installed app. produced for store. As I suspected from my ah HA moment, the Loading Animation showed up. Eureka.
    1. I don't know if this is a bug and if the Loading animation should be available no matter what the data source is.
    2. If it is by design, I'd like the option to include it - yes I will add to the requested features thread if someone from the Team confirms by design.
    3. I didn't test to see what kinds of data sources = loading animation and which don't. If by design, is there a list of which do?
    4. The work around for anyone looking to include the Loading animation who isn't seeing it MAY be to include a REST data source;
    you do NOT have to use it, it only has to be added to the project.

  • CUACEE_SV_9.0.1.10 fails to install, hangs at database wizard

    During the install we get to the point where the database wizard just hangs and it goes no further.
    Following is the application log - nothing happens after the event ID 5084 and you have to force the wizard to close. it will stay that way all day.

    I'm not quite sure what you are missing, but it looks like you missed a script which could cause problems.  You need to look through your logs for errors. Are you running rel853 as the AccessID user?  I don't know how you would trash PSSTATUS in this process.
    You don't mention running this.
    Task 4-3-2:  Creating Tablespaces
    This step runs the PTDDLUPG script, which builds new tablespaces as part of the upgrade to the new PeopleSoft release.
    It creates tablespace PSIMAGE2, which doesn't exist in the datamover load you did.  Oracle moves and puts around 208 tables here when you run rel853 from what I see.
    The first line of rel853 is
    UPDATE PSSTATUS SET TOOLSREL='8.53',
                      LASTREFRESHDTTM = SYSDATE
    This is what changes the tools release, sometimes people just run this one update to gain quick and dirty access to a different version.
    I pulled this download and ran through it myself without incident doing all the steps you say, adding in 4-3-2 which you seemed to have skipped.  I built a system database.
    My hcengs.log shows
    Importing  PSSTATUS
    Creating Table  PSSTATUS
    Import  PSSTATUS  1
    Building required indexes for PSSTATUS
    Updating statistics for PSSTATUS
    Records remaining: 7686
    After import, PSSTATUS is
    SQL> select toolsrel from sysadm.psstatus;
    TOOLSREL
    8.52
    After running rel853n it's now
    SQL> COMMIT
      2  ;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> SPOOL OFF
    SQL> select toolsrel from sysadm.psstatus;
    TOOLSREL
    8.53
    I ran the other 3 quick scripts.  Not sure if it was necessary, but I reset the passwords and re-encrypted them with the new 8.53 datamover for the new salted encryption and fired up app designer.  It works.  By the way, you should probably run rel853n, it utilizes "newer" (for PeopleSoft that is) data-types than just rel853.sql that were delivered with the 9.0 application line.  Since this is a new 9.0 based app build it should be used.

  • Crystal Report throws Unexpected Database Connector error

    Hi,<br>
    <br>
    We are using Crystal report 2008 CR4E API to implement the crystal report in our application. We use the below code to reset the report data source with our application data source. It works fine for most of the simple queries. But if the query contains any function defined in the SELECT Clause it throws Unexpected Database Connector error. As per the log and analysis we believe the root cause of the exception is it consider that function as column in the table and throws the SQL Exception that "function is Invalid Identifier". Could you please help in resolving this issue?

    i'm also getting the same error when i'm trying to call stored procedure (that will fetch the result set and populate the report) through the query in the report-viewer.jsp. The result set is fetched i.e. when i print the result set it shows on tomcat but it is not getting passed to Table object to populate the report. However when i try to give the query explicitly in the form of SELECT statements, it works fine i.e. i can view the report in the browser. But giving query in the form of SELECT is a very naive way and is ok if u have too less reports not requiring too many joins, thats why i was using stored procedure. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0

    I have a problem when I preview a report in Crystal Reports 2008 using BW MDX Query I had recieved the following messages:
    1.Failed to retrieve data from database
    and then when I click ok
    2.Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0
    Error occurred  when starting the parser:timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL'ThSAPCMRCV'
    I copied the query of crystal report and I execute it inside the transaction of mdxtest

    I found the debugger had stopped in the line Break when I click on F8
    I recieve the following error
    Error occurred when starting the parser: timeout
    during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
    Please anybody can help me

    Dear Ingo
    I had read this note
    I applied the following:
    1.I didn't found the lrfc32.dll in the windows/system32 in my BW server so I asked my basis administrator to upgrade the kernel
    2.after this step I didn't find it again so I had copied the file from the new kernel and copied it to system32 and sysWow
    3.I register successfuly the lrfc32.dll using the commanf regsvr c:/windows/system32/lfrc32.dll
    (note: this step didn't succeed until I had installed SAP GUI in BW server because as I observed that there is a need for C++ compiler which is installed by default when you install GUI)
    after all of this I cannot run any crystal report based on any BW query
    So Please anyboday can help

  • How do I fix the Database Organizer Error when using Acrobat 9 Pro on desktop PC with Windows 8.1 and 64-bit OS?

    After loading Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop PC (Windows 8.1; 64-bit OS), opening and closing a previously saved pdf file, I constantly get a message pop-up that indicates a "database organizer" error.
    How do I fix this?
    I have read multiple responses at various forums and they do not seem to apply, or have not worked for others, with regard to the details of my version of Acrobat and Windows OS.
    I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro and install it on my PC, which, of course, I would prefer not to do, unless this is my only viable option.
    Can this problem, specific to my version of Acrobat and Windows OS, be fixed or is the simple answer:  purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro, because there is no fix for my version of Acrobat/Windows OS?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Database Connection Error Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory

    Hello everyone,
    Background:
    I have a newly installed and configured Ubuntu server running Tomcat5.5 and Mysql 5.0. This server was created in an attempt to migrate from a Red Hat server in a similar configuration, running the exact same webapp. Most of the configuration/classpath differences between the two platforms have been ironed out.
    The Problem:
    When our webapp trys to connect to the database on localhost, an exception 'java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)' is generated.
    The server.xml configuration is below:
    <Resource name="jdbc/EconDollarsDB"
    auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    username="user"
    password="pass"
    driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
    url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/DBName?autoReconnect=true"
    maxActive="20" maxIdle="5"
    />I can connect to the database just fine using the command line client and the same username/password combo. This configuration has been working fine for at least a year on the older server. The only similar problems I have found on the net (meaning the same exception is generated) involve applets and attempts to connect to different hosts. This case involves a webapp, connecting to localhost, using a configuration that is known to work! I am simply baffled.
    The following stacktrace is generated:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Database Connection Error

    Hi,
    Its clearly saying the connect permission is missing with the current available policy.
    you add the following permisson entry to the <installed JRE>\lib\security\java.policy file.
    (e.g) C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_08\lib\security\java.policy
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant{
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    If the application is running standalone then the code is allowed uncontrolled access but for webapplicatons running through browser, the security check is performed for the configured JRE.

  • Database Connection Error

    Hello,
    We have crystal reports published on the BOBJ system and the datasource is SAP BI system . The reports were working fine
    untill last monday when they started giving error " Database Connection Error " .
    This is what happening, when we run the crystal report , it will come up with a pop up for selection and upon giving the selection and click on execute , it is giving error.
    To start we have this issue in BOBJ dev system , but now we have the same issue in QA and Prod as well. I suspected
    this has to do with license keys, but my BOBJ Admin *** basis team thinks otherwise.
    I couldnt think of would have gone wrong or missing . Any ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Ingo,
    I tested the reports using the crystal designer, and they ran fine without issues . The same report when we run on BOBJ/infoview it is giving data base connection error. The same is happening across all the 3 systems( Dev, QA and Prod ).
    I also tested the verify database on the crystal designer and it say " data is up to date".
    As the client level integration seems to be working fine, I'm thinking there is a issue with server level integration.
    Can you through some insight into the checks we can do get to the bottom?
    Thanks,
    Raju.
