Visual C program for USB 8473 for periodic frame transmission

The periodic transmission program provided along with the installation "CAN Transmit Periodic" fails to transmit the frames periodically. Is an example program in C available to transmit the CAN frames periodically?

Hi Frascal,
Have you tried with another computer? Is the behavior similar with other USB Port ?
If USB 2.0 support is needed, try to use a PCI USB card which supports USB 2.0.
Which USB Chipset do you use? open up the device manager and find the USB controller, to check if the hardware use a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0.

  • How to change the baudrate for NI-USB 8473

There is a problem about my NI-USB 8473, High speed CAN device.
I have a excuted file to operate this CAN, programmed by CVI, but i dont have the source code. It works all fine when i want to change the baudrate.
But i have to develop a new prj for this device, i use the function ncConfig to set the parameters of the can. I use a easy way that i get the CAN baudrate from the uir, a ring control.
But things happened that the baudrate doesnt change at all. I dont know what is going on, is there any other functions can set the baudrate? And when i use ncConfig, the parameters are totally cool, without mistake.
And anther question, how to asign CAN dynamically, i mean how could i  creat any new CAN control panel for a new can as i want, because i have one to control one CAN, but now i need to control several undetermined number of CANs, should i creat a new panel for each of them or just modify the CAN names for the orginal one?

You can use the structure of labview examples for your CVI program. I had started NI Spy parallel when using labview example - so it shows you the functions you can use in same way in CVI - hope it helps. You can attach here your program because i not known what example (*.exe) do you use for CVI  ?
For creating CVI source project you could use the links i sent you before:

  • Develop Example Code for the NI USB 8473

    Hello,
I need to develop an application using the NI USB 8473 in VB2008 (OR VB2010).
    Can you provide example code?

    Hi jerisman,
Unfortunately examples for Visual Basic and CAN interface cards are few and far between. What I would recommend is looking at the example that I linked below for a starting point on reading CAN messages.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/601
Also, you can go through previous forum posts about using NI-CAN with Visual Basic and pull information from what is discussed there.

  • Register level programming for USB 6008

    Hi all,
I am trying to work with USB 6008 in a linux environment without using DAQmxbase drivers. Since Comedi presently doesn't support USB 6008 device, I am considering writing the driver for USB 6008 myself. Is the register level programming of USB 6008 device possible? Where can i find the related documents and examples?

  • Is there a Replacement Program for 2009 iMacs with MXM Graphics Cards?

I have an iMac 24" Early 2009 with the Nvidia GeForce GT 120 256MB MXM graphics card that is freezing and crashing over-and-over, especially when I'm away and it's not connected to my 2nd display! Odd. I've done the usual (cleaned the iMac inside, run fsck, SMC reset, PRAM reset, repair permissions from boot USB, disconnected all peripherals, changed mice and keyboards, changed the HD, reinstalled the OS, run Onyx and so on) and finally decided that it's a faulty graphics card that only a replacement will fix. When I'm home it's more stable when connected via a Displayport DVI adapter to DVI cable to a 24" Dell display. When standalone (like when traveling with my iMac for long stints out of town) it's unusable. It won't run for longer than 30 minutes, often not even 10 minutes, then I get screen artifacts and freezes and then have to fsck to repair the drive before running it again. Only running it in Safe Mode will allow it to run reliably.
However, I believe that I found a stopgap solution. I installed a program which I downloaded after installing XCode called Quartz Debug which has apparently allowed me to disable Quartz Extreme, 2D Acceleration and Quartz GL.
Turning off all Quartz graphics enhancements makes this machine stable if not exactly completely "mac-like" in its performance, but it's at least usable under most conditions for long periods of time. I know of people who have replaced the MXM graphics card on this machine with good effect, but it's an expensive proposition and these cards are apparently few and far between. Has anyone done this?
Based on the large number of nearly identical complaints about this model, both here and elsewhere, it seems like this MXM graphics card is defective or Apple's drivers are defective . . . well maybe, but it very, very predictably crashes when the computer gets hotter and not even _extremely_ hot, but well within what would be normal operating temps for other machines.
I've disassembled and completely cleaned the inside and have replaced the HD with an SSD and removed the optical drive entirely so if anything I've reduced heat-producing devices from the interior of the device installed a fan control and keep the graphics card features mostly turned off.
I've looked for but have yet to see a recall or warranty replacement program for this device and no, I don't have Applecare. I've owned several Apple products in the last two decades and with the issues with Apple products in recent years, it seems like Applecare must be figured as part of any Apple purchase if reliability and ongoing support is desired.
Ironically, I have an Apple IIc and a Power Computing Power Tower 166 that still work just fine, thank you!

This cropped up on my wife's late 2009 model 27" iMac, too.  Random freezes were encountered, unable to identify cause for months, then one day it started to become unable to complete a normal boot.  Tech Tool Deluxe was the only direct indication as far as diagnostics are concerned.  I've NEVER been abvle to get Apple's hardware diagnostic to run from the cloud, and we fianlly got it on a Techs' bench, AHT showed nothing wrong.  As you said, Safe boot is the only way to get into the system, and performance under 10.8.5 is glacial.
Now the kicker - we DID have AppleCare, and this phase of the MXM graphics demise hit within 4 or 5 months of AppleCare expiration.  There's no longer a flat-rate repair option, Apple doesn't have any stock of the video board to sell as a replacement part (was $169, or $179 w/no exchange) and even refurbs of this paltry (512MB VRAM) board can hit $300.  I know Mac users have become 2nd-class citizens in Apple's business universe, but we're now looking at sub-42 month lifespans for hardware?  At $2k for a machine that lacks touchscreen option, that's out of line.

  • Does NI-CAN (USB-8473) support programming in C#

Hi there, I am developing software in C#, which supposed to test electronic devices (production of electronic manufacturing company), to ensure quality and functionality.
My system consist of many NI devices, mainly Digital and Analog I/O, of them belong to DAQmx-group, and support programming in C#.
Recently I added to the system CAN device USB-8473, which belong to NI-CAN-group (using my own terminology).
Question is: Does NI-CAN provide support (classes, libraries, dll's, etc) for programming in C#?
    Thank you in advance

Hi Chris, thanks for fast reply,
yes, sure, I read this section of manual, just was thinking, this manual is from mid-2010, and meanwhile updated version of NI-CAN might be available, compatible with last generation of .NET, but it seems it is not.
One more question: your Nican.dll is C++, unmanaged code library. To use it in .NET, particularly in C#, there must be some code which describe functions and variables packaged in this dll, to  provide translation (conversion) of functions and variables types, from C++ types to C# types, which would be very helpful for .NET programmers in using this dll. Something like:
            [DllImport("Nican.dll" , CallingConvention = CallingConvention.Cdecl)]
            public static extern int ncGetHardwareInfo(uint CardIndex, uint PortIndex, uint AttrId, uint AttrSize, ref uint  Attr);
            //instead of NCTYPE_STATUS _NCFUNC_ ncGetHardwareInfo(NCTYPE_UINT32 CardIndex, NCTYPE_UINT32 PortIndex, NCTYPE_ATTRID AttrId, .......
            public const int NICAN_ERROR_BASE   =        (int)(0xBFF62000);    // instead of #define  NICAN_ERROR_BASE (NCTYPE_STATUS)(0xBFF62000)
            public const int CanErrFunctionTimeout = (NICAN_ERROR_BASE | 0x001); // instead of #define  CanErrFunctionTimeout (NICAN_ERROR_BASE | 0x001)
If you have code with this kind of conversion, would be very nice to have a link to that.
    Thank you for your help.

Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior.  Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible. An outstanding source of information is OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.)
If you are using a pre-Leopard version of OS X, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  (These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion and should not be installed.)
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. (There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion or later.)
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner.
      2. Data Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. SyncTwoFolders
      6. Synk Pro
      7. Synk Standard
      8. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Always have a current backup before performing any system updates or upgrades.

  • Program for transferring amount from one GL to another based on due date.

    Hi
There is one requirement to show customers in differnt way (i.e. dues less than 6months seperately and more than 6 months seperately).
I have created one GL (customers due less than 6 months)
Now all balances are in one GL account i.e. customer due more than 6 monhts)
So is there any program which will transfer all the amount for due less than six months from one GL to other GL.
I also need such program for items (like prepaid accounts) which are entered directly into GL accounts.

    Hi,
Yes there is one functionality available that is Reclassification or sorting of Receivables and payables. The tcode is FAGLF101 - Sorting/Reclassification (New), for this you need to do some configuration settings. The navigation path is New gl- periodic processing-Reclassify-Transfer and sort receivables & payables.

  • F.13 is a standard program for automatic clearing?

f.13 is a standard program for automatic clearing? can i include plant code to the standard program.....and it is used for display clearing......need information?

    HI,
F.13 is a Stanndard program for Automatic clearing as you rightly siad. This is wholely dependent on the settings that you make in OB74 which is matching criteria.
Let me take an examloe and explain.
Lets say you have a customer invoice for  1,00,000/-. The customer has given 80,000/- once and 15,000/- once and the balance 5,000/- the company has issued a Credit Note.
If this is a single transaction in a year you may wonder why this F.13 is used. However in practice there will be many transactions per day it self and advising a business proces of F-32 account Clear is not a good practice as the user is loaded with transactions.
Hence You will be taking this as a periodic process and clearing automatically is advised using F.13.
For the system to understand you will be giving the matching criteria in OB74.
So when ever you run this program, program checks for matching Amounts in Dr and Cr sides with the matching feilds given in OB74
The uncleared items need attention which may or may not be processed manually,
For GR IR clearing also you can use this transaction and any open item manged account as longas the matching criteria is confiured.
I don't think you can use Plant code in this.
    Reward points if useful.

  • A simple slideshow program for 68k OS7 Macs suggestions pls

I'm looking for a simple slideshow program for my old 68k OS7 Macs. I just want to have some PICTs display on a set time period or key press. Nothing fancy.
I can get Claris to this but wonder if HyperCard can. I'm no expert on HC but it seems to be designed for this exact job. Do I need to find a "stack" or some already made item to open in HC then attach my piks? Any suggestions?

It would be possible to use HyperCard, although you may need to do a little programming if you go with it. If you use a blank HyperCard stack, you can assign one picture per card and link them. Clickable buttons would be the easiest way to do this. Which version of HyperCard are you using?
An old version of PowerPoint would work fine too. Anything older than PowerPoint 98 runs on a 68K unless you are using a 68000 processor, in which case you'll need one of the pre-1994 versions.
Believe it or not, Kid Pix is a possible answer to this as well. Any version from Kid Pix 2 onward (as well as the Kid Pix Companion addon for the original Broderbund version) contains an application called Slide Show, which is used with files in the PICT format. You can display an image for up to 30 seconds and add transitions between slides.

  • Financial Program For MAC

I currently have a Windows XP computer with Quicken 2007 and Quicken works well, especially the one-step update. Scanning the Quicken forum, I find nothing but horror stories from people who have switched from Windows to MAC and then try to convert their Quicken data files from Windows to data files for use with Quicken for MAC on the MAC. I really don't want to buy and run Windows on my new iMac just to run Quicken for Windows. I am buying a MAC to get away from Windows. Can anybody recommend a good financial software program to run on the MAC as an alternative to the Quicken program?

I don't have a recommendation, but may have some perspective for you. I moved from PC to Mac a little over a year ago and made the transition from Microsoft Money to Quicken 2007 for Mac. I do prefer Money to Quicken (at least Quicken for Mac), but I've adjusted to it and it works great for me.
Here are some key points that I consider for the program. Maybe some will resonnate with you:
    1) The key thing I use a financial program for is to auto enter bills that I have direct debited and to tell me how much money I actually have left to spend after I pay bills before my next pay check. Money did this very well with a grid and chart. I could look at any given future date (e.g., the day before my next pay check) and get the amount of money that would be left. Quicken for Mac does this, but only with a chart. I just click on the day before my next check and get the amount, but it's not as nice as what I described from Money. Some people say that fewer financial institutions are supported. You can see that this is the case on the Intuit web site where they list the numbers, but I am able to connect with all of my institutions including a local credit union.
    2) Quicken requires a password when you open the program and then again when you choose to do the one step download for getting information from your banks. Thankfully, it then uses all of the different passwords for your financial institutions form memory, but I don't understand why the sign-on password isn't enough (or at least make it an option). Quicken has (what could be) a great option to automatically download the latest information based a schedule you set. However, I have this disabled because it then asked me for the Quicken password every time I turned on my computer (annoying). So, I just ask for the download when I balance my books just like I did in Money. This might be the same as in the PC version of Quicken . . . I don't know.
    3) Quicken uses many many windows. This can be great if you like to see a lot at once or it can be overwhelming to have 6, 8, or 10 windows open at once. I really like using the Expose feature of the Mac to see my bank web sites along side the corresponding registers. This is much easier to do than in Windows. I keep open my primary accounts, the forecasting chart, and my upcoming bills all of the time and open other windows as needed. I've also browsed the Quicken discussion board and some have suggested enabling the feature that closes an open register when you open a new register. I can see why this would help, but my setup works for me.
    4) Quicken 2007 is a PowerPC program (like Office 2004), so it runs in Rosetta in Intel Macs and is a bit slower starting up than other new programs. Once the program is running though, it's not noticeable. However, it bugs me enough that I will be upgrading the Quicken 2008 for Mac as soon as it is available. The same can be said for Office 2008 for Mac.
    5) Quicken is currently beta testing a full fledged web based program. When this comes out, it may be for you. I'm enrolled as a tester and do like some of the features, but thus far I wouldn't be compelled to make the switch from a desktop program. I've heard rumors that the next Quicken for Mac will be web only. I hope not, but will evaluate what I'll do when that happens or the next desktop program comes out.
    6) I haven't see the Moneydance program mentioned in the other post, but have periodically perused to see if something better existed. I haven't tried anything, but just by the description . . . I've been underwhelmed. I think many of the complaints about Quicken for Mac have to do with the comparison of the PC version to the Mac version, rather than that the Mac version stinks all that much. In terms of support from the program creator, as well as financial institutions, I find it hard to believe that somebody is going to beat Intuit or Microsoft since they are so entrenched in this industry. With that said, I took a quick look at the Moneydance web site and it looks better than the other programs I've looked at. Plus, there is a discussion board to peruse for it's own issues and it has a free fully functional trial version. I might try that myself just out of curiosity, but I really doubt I'll end up switching.
    I hope that helps.

  • Why do i have to download a program for my IPod Nano?

I purchased a IPod nano today and was very disappointed to find out I cannot just plug in the cord to the usb and drag and drop my music from any of my computers. I have to go online and download a file that take 3 hours and put it on every computer that I want to transfer music from. This doesn't sound right. I waited 40 minutes for tech support on the phone and no one ever came to the line. This is terrible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is hard to download iTunes if you only have a dialup internet connection. Do you know anyone with a broadband connection that would be willing to download this program for you?
I helped my daughter's friend do this--she gave up trying to download iTunes after 90 minutes.
If your friend can download the program from the Apple Website (not inside itunes), a CD can be burned containing the installation files.
Have your friend save the installation file to the computer desktop and then burn a data CD for you.

    Hi,
As far as I know, Sony Ericsson Z520, like a lot of the other cell phones, doesnt support bluetooth serial communication.
    See:
    http://developer.sonyericsson.com/entry.jspa?externalID=138&categoryID=5
BUT(!) You should double check this information.
If you ask me, we have done similar project.
We are working on hobby project our robot use J2ME cell phone as on-board brain.
And there is connection between this small robot and Linux-based PC.
Communication was done via BlueTooth (in reality we use Linux implementation of BlueTooth stack and obexftp).
BUT (!) We use Siemens S75 for this communication.
Im afraid that Siemens is the only manufacture, which implemented serial communication over bluetooth, embedded camera and non-usb socket.
Also there are some Motorola phones, which implement serial communication over bluetooth.
But note that all Motorola phones use USB sockets and it will not be easy for you to make connection between such a phone and the robot.
If you need just connection between cell phone and PC, then may be USB is OK too.

    thanks

Have you looked at iChat? Which IM applications do you need compatibility with? I believe iChat is compatible with AIM, ICQ and Jabber compliant.
I like my iSight, and it has a Firewire interface, which is faster than USB 2.0, especially for sustained data transmission like video. But the new built-in iSights on the iMacs run on the USB bus...
