Visual Studio 6 SP6 bundle

Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to install Visual Studio 6 on Windows XP for a while now. Here's what I tried so far:
Bundle 1 - MS JAVA VM v5.0.2752.0
1- Copy the file "MSJAVX86.EXE" in the folder "${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp"
2- Run the following script as an administrator:
Code:
@echo off
start /wait %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Temp\MSJAVX86.EXE /q:a /r:n
3- Delete the file "MSJAVX86.EXE" in the "${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp" folder.
Bundle 2 - Visual Studio 6 SP6
We have the "Professional" version by the way.
1- I copy in "${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp" the files "VS6.exe" and "VS6sp6.exe" which are archive created with 7zip.
2- Execute this command as a dynamic administrator:
${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp\VS6.exe -y -o"${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp"
3- I modify the registry to be able to do a silent install.
4- I run this script as an administrator:
Code:
@ECHO OFF
start /wait %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Temp\VS6\acmboot.exe /qn1
mkdir "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Menu Dmarrer\Programmes\Microsoft Web Publishing"
xcopy "%USERPROFILE%\Menu Dmarrer\Programmes\Microsoft Web Publishing" "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Menu Dmarrer\Programmes\Microsoft Web Publishing" /S /E /Y
del "%USERPROFILE%\Menu Dmarrer\Programmes\Microsoft Web Publishing" /s /q
rd "%USERPROFILE%\Menu Dmarrer\Programmes\Microsoft Web Publishing"
We are in a french environment!
5- I run this command as an administrator:
${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp\VS6SP6.exe -y -o"${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp"
6- I run this command as an administrator:
${SYSTEMDRIVE}\Temp\VS6SP6\setupsp6.exe -QNT
7- Finally, I do a little clean up.
After all this I still can't get it to install properly. Does anyone can help me here?
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Visual Studio 2005/2008 and Crystal Reports versions/upgrade questions.

    I've tried posting this question on the MSDN forums and gotten no response.
    I've downloaded and installed VS 2008 Beta 2.   The versions on the Crystal Reports files included are 10.5.0.1806
    I'm currently using VS 2005, with the included Crystal Reports.  The versions on those files are 10.2.0.xxxx.  I've created an desktop app (in VB) which stores it's data in a database and uses the CR 10 runtime merge modules to generate a report.
    I was considering upgrading the Crystal Reports version to XI.  I would like to allow customers to modify my delivered report with their own licensed copy of CR XI.  I am not providing any functionality within my app to create or modify the delivered .rpt or use it outside my application.
    Questions:
    Do I need to update the runtime files to CR XI to support rpt files modified with CR XI?  Current runtime files are being delivered with the CR 10 merge module.
    I see a Crystal Reports for Visual Studio upgrade to CR XI.
    Can I update the merge modules to CR XI and still use the CR for VS2005 for development?
    Does it make any sense to update CR for VS 2005?  Or to get the full CR XI Developer edition?  My usage of CR functionality is very limited.
    Would there be any benefit to waiting for the release of VS 2008?   How does that change the scenario?
    How does Crystal Reports for Visual Studio fit in with the Crystal Reports Lifecycle?  It's not mentioned on Business Objects End of Life Dates page . Crystal 10 has a Patch EOL of 31-Dec-07.   Does this apply to CR for VS 2005?  Where does 10.5 fit in?
    My main concern is allowing customers with CR XI to change the format of my delivered .rpt to run with my app.  Adding their company name, logo, etc.   My testing show a CR XI report still works with my current app.  But, going forward, what should I deliver and what do I need to use to continue development?

    To use Reports designed in XI, you need to use XI or higher runtime, running them in older versions may work, but you may encounter unforeseen issues doing so.
    If you are to use VS2005 for development you need to use XI Release 2 (11.5) runtime.
    If you are going to use VS2008 for development you need to use Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 0.
    The support end of life for versions of Crystal Reports bundled with Visual Studio are linked to what Microsoft's lifecycle for the product is.  Generally if there is a workaround for the issue that is simple enough, there will not be a patch created.
    The changes you are expecting the customer to do can be accomplished with our RAS SDK which is available without using enterprise starting with Crystal Reports XIR2 SP2.

  • Visual Studio 2008 Crashes when I click on the [Main Report Preview] button

    I started with Crystal Reports Basic that is bundled with Visual Studio, and then downloaded and installed the free trial of Crystal Reports Developer 2008, and the Visual Studio Integration Manager, the issue has not been affected.
    After adding a crystal report to the project and using the wizard to set it up, and adding a Crystal Reports Viewer to a form I encountered these two (perhaps related) problems.
    1)      When I click on the [Main Report Preview] button at the bottom of the report editor for Visual Studio crashes without any error message and needs to be restarted.
    2)      When I set the viewer  Report Source property to the report via the drop down the following error occurs:
    a.       u201CUnable to find the report in the manifest resources.  Please build the project and try again.u201D
    b.      Building the project has no affect and the same error reoccurs repeatedly.

    The original version of CR 2008 did not work with .NET 2008. If your version is 12.0.0.549, you need to apply SP0:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007528552008E/cr2008_sp0.zip
    then I'd highly recommend SP 3:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe
    If your version is higher than 12.0.0.549, apply SP3 and try again.

  • Dynamic Image Displays Blank When Using In Visual Studio Project

    I am trying to simply display a dynamic image in a report. I am using Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
    I have two different environments: Local via Progress where reports are called using Crystal Viewer ActiveX, and over the web where reports are called from Open Laszlo and Visual Studio project.
    The image is set to a blank image as default, and Graphic Location Forumla loads the image from the database (site.logo_location + site.logo_filename) which results in an image http:
    www.vetinfo3.com\a.jpg.
    When I run the reports locally using the ActiveX control, it works just fine and displays the image.
    When I run over the web using OpenLaszlo, it displays a blank.
    Troubleshooting
    We are using Visual Studio 2005, which is bundled with an older version of Crystal that doesn't support dynamic images.
    To address this, I loaded Crystal XI Release 2, which updated the version in Visual Studio and enabled the Graphic Location formula field on the dev machine.
    I verified the Graphic Location field was set correctly.
    This caused a Version error, so we loaded cr_net_2005_mm_mlb_x86.zip on server and specified the Version in web.Config.
    No errors now, but when I build and publish the code, the image still displays as blank.
                From Fiddler
                   GET http://www.vetinfo3.com/mdsol1/CrystalImageHandler.aspx?dynamicimage=cr_tmp_image_c5d6a923-293b-4f1e-8739-4e698f83b087.png
                   Creates C:\Documents and Settings\Curtis\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\PWRUX2XW\CrystalImageHandler[1].png
                   Blank Image
    According to issues within Visual Studio, they say the fix to this is to add the <httpHandler> in web.Config, but it is already there; added when we add the viewer to the project:
    In web.Config I have some questions about this line:
        <httpHandlers>
          <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
        </httpHandlers>
    There are more service packs for Crystal XI Release 2:
    crXIr2sp2_net_server_install.zip
    crXIr2sp3_net_server_install.zip
    crXIr2sp4_net_server_install.zip
    I have not loaded these yet, but the readme files do not indicate they fix any dynamic image issues.
    I am out of ideas on this; does anyone have any ideas?

    What about if you take OpenLaszlo out of the picture? E.g.; use one of our samples from here;
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsfor.NETSDK+Samples
    I'd recommend vbnet_web_simplepreviewreport

  • Integrating Crystal Report 2008 Developer with Visual Studio 2008 Standard

    I have Crystal Reports 2008 Developer version 12.0.0.683 on my computer. I also have Visual Studio 2008 Standard. I know the standard edition of VS 2008 does not have the bundled crystal reports, but since I bought the full version of CR 2008 separately, I figure I should be able to use CR within VS 2008. The problem I am facing is integrating Crystal Reports with Visual Studio, so I can create reports from within visual studio.
    Crystal Reports was installed first and then Visual Studio. As per suggestions on this and other forums, I repaired my installation of Crystal Reports, but that did not help. I then ran Visual Studio integration manager, but when I run it, it only detects Visual Studio as the currently installed IDE, but does not detect CR 2008. I downloaded service pack 2 for CR, but have not installed it yet. I do not want to install it if it is not going to help. I would also like to avoid uninstalling my copy of CR if at all possible.
    I am a newbie at development in visual studio. Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rajib

    Don't want to go against what Jason said as it may be correct - if we go strictly by the documentation provided (sorry Jason, Dan says...). However, here is something to try;
    Uninstall CR. Look for any left overs; c:\program files\business objects\... and delete all of that.
    Look in the registry for HKLM\software\business objects and remove the business objects entry.
    Download CR 2008 from here:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    That is a trial version and I believe it is already at SP 1. Use your keycode to install. Once this is done, you should have the ability to use CR in .NET. I'd recommend you do apply sp 2 now also.

  • Running version of Crystal Reports bunded in MS Visual Studio on web farm

    Hello,
    I did a search before posting this and could not find where someone had posted the question previously, but I apologize in advance if it is redundant to something already asked and answered.
    I am part of a sysadmin organization, and some of the developers we host on our servers came to us asking to put the free version of the Crystal Reports DLL that comes bundled  with Visual Studio on our IIS web farm servers.
    We looked at the doco on the MS site regarding this, and in the licensing section we found reference to, as best we can interpret it, not using the free bundled version in a web farm to try to overcome the default 5 user limit.  At least that is our understanding of the text we saw at MS' site.
    MS refers support questions to Business Objects, thus I am posting this question to find out if it is legitimate or not to use the free Crystal Reports object our developers got from MS on a multiple server IIS web farm.
    Basically, we want to stay legitimate as far as software on our servers.
    Secondly, as we understand the doco, there is only web forum support for the free tool, so if our developers have a production issue and come to us, our only recourse will be to post a question here?
    Thank you in advance for your answers and clarification.   Have  a great day!

    Hello John,
    I found this bundled Crystal Reports licensing link on MSDN - [Licensing and support for Crystal Reports for Visual Studio|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317789]. As you'll see, this kbase article says that the bundle editions of Crystal Reports are not licensed for use with web farms.
    If you have other support issues and you can not find answers on these forums you can purchase a support contract or an individual support case. You can purchase a single case from the [Online Store|http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryID=11522300]. Or in the US you can call the Sales team at 1-800-877-2340, Option 2. They can assist with support contract questions, and I believe they can assist with single case purchase questions.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Visual Studio 2005 deploy Crystal Report to Windows Server 2008 64-bit

    I've read a lot of posts here regarding deploying on a 64-bit server, but I'm still confused.
    We use Visual Studio 2005 to develop on a Windows XP machine.  We use the built-in version of Crystal that comes with VS2005.
    We want to deploy the runtime to a Windows Server 2008 running 64-bit.  We want to deploy using the msi runtime components and not the merge modules.
    We end up with the message "An error has occurred while attempting to load Crystal Reports".
    So, the question is, can we build & deploy a 64-bit version, and if so, what are we doing wrong here ?  At first glance, I don't see VS 2005 as listing Windows 2008 as a supported platform, so am I dead in the water right there ?  If that's the case .... then what are my options ?
    Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated !
    Thank You,
    Wayne

    In a nut shell, the only two 64 bit versions of Crystal Reports are 10.2 (bundles with .NET 2005) and 10.5 (bundles with .NET 2008). All other versions of Crystal Reports are 32 bit only. • Crystal Report in Visual Studio 2010

    Hello,
    Our company is using Crystal Report XIR2. We are going to migrate our applications using Crystal Report to Windows Server 2008 (64-bit), we have to upgrade the Crystal Report too as current version does not support 64-bit version. Which version of Crystal Report will be bundled in Visual Studio 2010? CR 2008 or a newer version?
    Many thanks,
    Peter

    "Unknown". Certainly, at this time the info is not available publicly. It may even be the CR is not part of future builds of .NET (?). On the other hand, going by how these bundles have gone in the past, I'd suspect if there is a CR bundle or an add on of some sort, it will be what ever will be the current version minus 1. Will it be as fully featured as the currently shipping CR 2008? Again, go by past bundles. (E.g.; if there is something like CR 2010 out there, the bundle would probably be some variation of CR 2008). Will it be 64 bit? Again, consider the history; bundles that come with .NET 2005 and .NET 2008.

  • Where can I download WINCE 6.0 Platform Builder plugin for Visual Studio 2005?

    I am supporting an older product that runs WINCE 6.0. I need to build a development environment. I understand the tool chain is based on Visual Studio 2005 SP1, which I have. I also have the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder Service Pack 1, but
    what I can't seem to find anywhere on MSDN is the base Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder.
    FWIW, I have an MSDN Universal Subscription.
    [EDIT] OK, I found it. The download is named simply Windows Embedded CE 6.0.  There is no "Platform Builder" in the title.
    Here is the link:  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/#FileId=10961

    Thanks Henrik. My question is for the same customer that Alex K. was asking about.
    The customer has pointed out that 6.5 != 6.0 , so according to the wording in the documentation, the "all later releases of 6.0" would not apply to 6.5 releases. So the customer would need a precise statement from JRockit product management stating that 6.5 releases are indeed to be included wherever there is a reference to "all later releases of 6.0".
    I did spend some time yesterday in MetaLink. Search Knowledge base -> Oracle JRockit for download gives 38 hits. I did find older versions of WebLogic Server in 763603.1, but nothing for JRockit. If there is another DocId with the JRockit downloads, what is it? Will I find JRockit 64 bit for Solaris 27.6.0 bundled in the WebLogic Server downloads? Guessing from the size of the downloads for Solaris 64bit (they are hundreds of MB smaller than other downloads) - it seems possible that the JVM is not included (I do not have a Solaris machine to install and check). Previously I had assumed the JVM was included, but then the customer wouldn't be asking where they can download from (unless they never bother to look what they installed).

    I am not really familiar with all of the options for charting and what is or isnt in the bundled version.
    You can download the CR XI R2 developer edition eval from the website and see if it gives you the graph options that you want.  If it does then I think you can buy it at an upgrade price since you already have the bundled edition.

  • Issue loading Crystal XI reports with Visual Studio 2008

    Hi:
    I'm converting a Visual Studio 2003 web application to Visual Studio 2008. The application has a lot of reports designed with Crystal XI and I cannot open then from VS 2008. I have tried two ways so far:
    1_ Using Crystal 2008 Basic that bundle with VS 2008: Since the Data source for the reports is Oracle and that version of Crystal (10.5) doesnu2019t bring Oracle support then I keep getting the error related to u2018crdb_oracle.dllu2019 while exporting the report to pdf format.
    2_ Using the Crystal XI assemblies: I keep getting an error stating that Crystal XI is not compatible with VS 2008.
    What is the solution here to warranty a smooth transition? Some people are suggesting installing Crystal XI R2 but Iu2019m really not sure what to do. I also installed the run time version of Crystal Report 2008 SP1 (msi) but I didnu2019t find the way to add the reference to my VS 2008 project to try that way.
    Thanks in advanceu2026

    Not just the runtime - where would you get it without breaking licensing? You have to have a valid copy of CR 2008 and install it. No worries about unistalling CR 10.5 - .NET 2008 will automatically use the latest files.
    Re. Oracle support. That is correct. The crdb_oracle.dll does not ship with any versions of CR that bundle with .NET. You could go ODBC or OLE DB though.
    Not sure what you mean;
    Can the CRRuntime_12.x be bundle to VS 2008 just like the Basic version does?
    But as I mentioned above, you must obtain a copy of CR 2008. A 30 day eval is available from here;
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    To obtain a non eval copy, call sales; 866-681-3435

  • Looking for Development Environment Like MS Visual Studio

    Trying to find an OSX equivalent to Microsoft Visual Studio (specifically C#). I thought Xcode might be it and downloaded it, but it doesn't seem as intuitive as Visual Studio - can't figure out where to start. I want to design windows that the user can interact with - push buttons, display text, etc. It's not obvious how to get started with Xcode, and I'm wondering if I'm even poking around in the right area.
    I have a web-based app put together on my MAC that uses a combination of web pages and CGI code that I can use as a prototype. I'd like to try to duplicate this using the MAC GUI. Can someone point me in the right direction and suggest some good primer books?
    Thanks!

    Xcode is it. It is much different than Visual Studio, but so is the platform and language. For example, in the MS environment, the UI designer creates source code that you edit. In OS X, the UI designer doesn't create source code because the UI is a fully-instantiated object that's built on the fly (and doesn't require compilation). You create connections between the elements through a drag-and-drop mechanism that basically plugs UI element events into controller object methods. In OS X, applications are "bundles" of code and resources, whereas Windows has a more loosely-defined structure.
    It does take some getting used to, but the XCode UI is mostly designed around this different sort of approach to writing the software.
    Alternatively, you can use something like Eclipse, which is closer to VS in many respects, but painful to write Objective-C code while using the Interface Builder.

  • Crystal Reports Std | Visual Studio 2008

    Hi guys,
    When creating charts in Crystal Reports Std (bundled with VS2008) is there any way to (programmatically or in the report designer) modify chart series names?
    Thanks,
    Stu.

    Hi guys,
    I've found out that you need to upgrade to a later version of Crystal Reports.
    My company had a spare license for CR2008 which included the update for Visual Studio 2008.
    I also found that I had to create the report in CR2008 to gain access to additional features i.e. modifying series names for charts.
    Then import it into my project.
    Thanks anyway,
    Stuart.

    hi,
    I have to migrate our reports to the visual studio 2010 framework. I converted my oracle reports (.rdf) to xml format using rwconverter. Then I tried to run one of them from a WPF application using Process.Start("report.xml"); but it only displays the xml source code. I also tried to use a XMLtoPDF converter which parse a xml file and generate the PDF report; but it doesnt fit with the xml structure generated by rwconverter.
    Does somebody know how to run the xml report under Visual Studio 2010? thank you
