Volume Bitmap Errors - What Keeps Causing Them?

I've been a recurring issue with my 2010 MacBook Pro (specs below) in recent months.  It seems like every other week, lately, I've needed to repair my internal HD because I keep seeing the following error:
"Volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocks"
"Invalid volume free block count"
The problem always repairs, successfully.
My computer isn't having any issues (none perceptible to me, anyway).  Yet, my blocks seem to keep getting orphaned.  Why would this keep happening?  How can I prevent it?
Thanks.

Launch Disk Utility and click the icon of the physical drive itself (not the indented volume name). Check S.M.A.R.T. status. Any messages?
When you launch Disk Utility to repair drive is it from Recovery HD or from some other startup drive?
In any case, when you Repair Disk, if you haven't done so before, repeat Repair Disk until no errors are reported. Sometimes one error can mask another.
If you have done the above, it may help to try a more powerful disk utility such as Disk Warrior, but you will need to boot from the utility's disk or from a different startup drive.

  • Need help with STUCK Threads.  What's causing them?

In our production environment, we have a soa suite cluster with 3 nodes. All 3 of the servers keep turning up stuck and hogging threads, and eventually they all grind to a halt where I can't even view composite instances through em. There is a bpel process that is using a dbadapter to poll for records every 5 seconds and then performs some service call outs and other dbadapters. This process is generating thousands of instances a day and I think it is the culprit. If I view the logs, I see one of the dbadapters that it calls out to fails occasionally with a PK violation. I looked at the developer's code, and they have no error handling in the process at all. In the logs, there will the a hit for the PK violation, then about 10 minutes later the a STUCK thread gets logged(the configured timeout is 600 seconds, or 10 minutes). Would not handling an error in a BPEL process hog/STUCK a thread? I need to be able to show what code is causing the issue so I can have a resolution path.
I also see a note in the trace about something holding a lock:
Holding lock: oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection@1fbc3486[thin lock]....would that be an un-rolled back transaction?
Here is the dump of the STUCK thread. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my impression is that you have trouble on the DB,
monitor the sessions to see if there is some table locked, and increase the number of processes on the DB
you can use SQLDeveloper for that
anyway your TX should rollback after some time, check that you have a timeout in place, it's better to rollback a TX than having the entire server crash

  • When I launch Aurora I always get a too much recursion error, what would cause this?

Aurora has latest update (seems it updates a lot)

A lot of the errors (especially if they're warnings) are normal (many websites have some IE-specific code and some of that code generates warnings). The simplest way to see if there are errors on the current page is to click "Clear" in the error console and then reload the page.
Also, errors (and less-often warnings) can come from extensions so you may see errors even if they're not related to the current page.
    * You can also use the "Tools > Web Developer > Web Console" (Shift+Cmd+K) to check for error on the current tab.

  • My macbook pro keeps freezing and shutting off when I am browsing the web on Safari.  How can I figure out what is causing this issue?

For the past few weeks my computer will slow down when I have been on Safari for awhile, then freeze, and then just go black.  I have to press the power button and then it goes to a black screen with the apple logo and a loading bar underneath when it reboots.  I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but on my previous mac it would have an error message if something like this happened that I could submit.  Any suggestions of where to start to solve this issue?
    Thanks!

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME log message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now clear the search box to reveal all messages. Select the ones logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

hi itunes wont install windows error 2 keep popping up what do i do?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    1. Windows 8.1 Enterprise w Update is the best. It allows you for sideloading in corporate environment without additional tools and licenses.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/jj874388.aspx
    2. N series is for EU (without IE).
    3. Profesional is fine, but you will need some tools to achieve the same functionality that you have in "pack" Enterprise.
    4. VL is volume license, a type of license for multiple computers (to say it simply)
    5. MSDN forum is better alternative for problems like this.
    6. Attached to MSDN are licenses or at least references to web resources. Read license agreements carefully and let your installation and use follow the license.

    1. Backup most important files to another device or cloud
    2. Use diagnostics tool(s) from WD
    http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp
    3. Send log to WD support and consider replacement of external HDD. If warrancy applies send HDD to WD directly.

  • Photoshop CS4 for Mac What can cause the error: Plug-in failed to load - NO VERSION

With Photoshop CS4 for Mac I install the Kodak Plug-in DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0. When Photoshop starts I get an error:
    Plug-ins that failed to load:
DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0 NO VERSION -  - from the file “DigitalAIRProv2.plugin”Flash:
       Connections
       Kuler
This plug-in works fine on my Mac Pro with Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6 but fails on a new Macbook Air.
Reinstalling the plug-in did not make any difference. What can cause this error?

Thanks Chris, That was my first thought too but this same plug-in works on another installation of CS4. This is a Mac installation and the plug-in is Universal so it should work. Is there any other possible cause for this error? Would Photoshop refuse to load a plug-in in a low memory situation?
Also, The Flash extensions:Connections and Kuler are working OK, I just copied a little more out of the System Info report than I needed to.

  • What has caused "data error count"  under execution detail on Audit browser

    Hi,
I have a simple mapping that load data from external table to target fact table. From OWB Runtime Audit browser, the Execution Details page show the status= Complete + <Red error sign>. And the value under Data error count is 2563. Where can I look for information about what has caused this errors or what the data error are? The SQL*Loader log file looks OK and no bad file generated. And I don't see suspecious under WB_RT_AUDIT*, WB_RT_ERROR tables It's owb9ir2 on 9iDB Thanks.

Solved. I set the audit level to the highest and re-executed and can see the error msg now. It would be nice if audit broser can show the report for all the rejected rows.

  • I don't think Anthony understood - when I touched the aps saying there were 4 installs there turned out to be pages of them - approx. 125 aps.  Took me half hour to delete them all.  What would cause this???

I don't thin Anthony understood my question - When I touched the aps icon saying there were 4 messages - pages of aps came up (approx. 115 of them).  It took me 1/2 hour to delete each one.  What would cause all these aps to apprear on my phone.?
