Vulnerabilities in webserviceclient+ssl.jar in Weblogic 10gR3 server

Hi,
I am using Weblogic server 10gR3. While checking for the vulnerabilities in project, came across CVE-2007-0417,CVE-2003-0640,CVE-2001-0098,CVE-2000-0681,CVE-2007-4618,CVE-2007-4617,CVE-2007-0425,CVE-2007-0418,CVE-2007-0408,CVE-2005-4757,CVE-2005-4756 all high vulnerabilities present in webserviceclient+ssl.jar. The description of these vulnerabilities says that they should be present in previous versions of Weblogic and should work fine in 10gR3.
I am not sure, may be I have missed something while understanding as I am new to this.
Please suggest me the way to resolve these security concerns.
Thanks in Advance!

Hi,
For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.
see...
http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/WebLogic_Web_Tutorial
We also have a similar version for Tomcat 6 except the JPA entity beans run outside a container-managed JTA transaction on the web container - for reference.

  • Cannot connect using webserviceclient+ssl.jar

    Hello!
    I installed Verisign test certificate on my server and I am able to connect
    to the server using Web Service client with JSSE adapter class. Funnily
    enough, I cannot connect using WebLogic SSL library, I get an exception.
    Could someone help me understand, why I cannot connect using WebLogic SSL
    implementation?
    To connect using JSSE I use following system properties:
    java^
    -classpath
    .;abcconnect-client.jar;webserviceclient.jar;..\lib\jcert.jar;..\lib\jnet.ja
    r;..\lib\jsse.jar;^

    Client https://MyServer:7002/webservice/ABCConnectService?WSDL
    where abcconnect-client.jar is the client jar file, and abc.keystore
    contains getcacert.cer root CA, which I downloaded from Verisign from this
    page: https://digitalid.verisign.com/server/trial/trialStep4.htm,
    ABCJSSEAdapter is the adapter class, implementing SSLAdapter. JSSE test
    works fine.
    To connect using WebLogic SSL implementation I use following system
    properties:
    java^

    I converted binary format of the certificate to PEM, but it did not help.

    Michael,
    I guess the getcacert.cer, which is on the client side, should have the
    server's certificate followed by the root CA certificate in .pem format.
    I have it working with this format.
    Could you please try this out and let us know.
    Regards,
    Anurag

    Initially this application was giving me absolute path related errors.But when I made changes to applicationContext.xml as follows,giviing absolute path for Hibernate mapping files
    <property name="mappingDirectoryLocations">
         <list>
         *<value>file:D:\saas-mappings</value>*
         </list>

    I have extrached all the *.hbm.xml file to above location that is D:\saas-mappings.But now the application is giving me above mentioned error.The error says that it is related to Named queries.I am pasting the contents of a sample *.hbm.xml file having named query as a sample

    Hi,
    For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider.
    We also have a similar version for Tomcat 6 except the JPA entity beans run outside a container-managed JTA transaction on the web container - for reference.

    thank you

  • Adding an XE DataSource in WebLogic 10gR3

    I have Oracle 10g XE installed on my Windows XP Pro box. It is runing on port 17969.
    I am trying to add a dataSource in Weblogic 10gR3 Server. I tripled checked the port, IP and all other parameters. I have also checked the TNSListener for the correct SID and port, etc. Everything looks correcct. I can log into the Oracle dB thru it's home page.
    Can someone please take a look at my stack trace and offer advice as to what is wrong between the Weblogic Server and the Oracle dB? Thanks. Phil
    When I click to test the configuration, this is the error that I see:

    ####<Jan 12, 2011 11:31:48 AM GMT+08:00> <Error> <ConfigFwk> <crmhpdqvm04> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '12' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <weblogic> <1294803108771> <BEA-000000> <notifyBeforePrepare() failed for listener CoreToSessionPropagator

    at weblogic.xml.query.compiler.StreamableTypeVisitor.visit(StreamableTypeVisitor.java:99)
    This error shows after clicking import, and this prevents us from reaching the activate or submit part.
    We have tried importing using the 3 ways below but the same error above is encountered:
    1. Workshop (publish via OSB - Run As Server, and OSB - Export Resources to Server).
    2. OSB console.
    3. WLST.
    We would like to know what causes this javastackoverflow. Kindly verify also the java mem args set in setDomainEnv (as the issue might be related to java memory):
    MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"
    export MEM_ARGS
    MEM_PERM_SIZE="-XX:PermSize=48m"
    export MEM_PERM_SIZE
    MEM_MAX_PERM_SIZE="-XX:MaxPermSize=512m"
    export MEM_MAX_PERM_SIZE
    We will appreciate any input you will provide. Thanks.

    I was able to activate the task with no out of memory issue after setting -Xmx to 2048m. The activation took around 25 mins. Not sure if this is just fine.
    I am curious on the error logs below seen during the activation. See below:

  • Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16

    Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16
    I need to make wsdl web service call in my weblogic app server. The web service is provided by a 3rd party vendor. I keep getting error
    Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found
    Certificate chain received from ws-eq.demo.xxx.com - xx.xxx.xxx.156 was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure
    Validation error = 16
    From the SSL debug log, I can see 3 verisign hierarchy certs are correctly loaded (see 3 lines in the log message starting with “adding as trusted cert”). But somehow after first handshake, I got error “Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found”.
    Here is how I load trustStore and keyStore in my java program:
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore",”cacerts”);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", trustKeyPasswd);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStoreName);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword",clientCertPwd);      System.setProperty("com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump","true");
    Here is how I create cacerts using verisign hierarchy certs (in this order)
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignClass3G5PCA3Root.txt -alias "Verisign Class3 G5P CA3 Root"
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediatePrimary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Primary"
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediateSecondary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Secondary"
    Because my program is a weblogic app server, when I start the program, I have java command line options set as:
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore=SSLTrust.jks
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.enforceConstraints=strong
    That SSLTrust.jks is the trust certificate from our web server which sits on a different box. In our config.xml file, we also refer to the SSLTrust.jks file when we bring up the weblogic app server.
    In addition, we have working logic to use some other wsdl web services from the same vendor on the same SOAP server. In the working web service call flows, we use clientgen to create client stub, and use SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter to load trustStore and keyStore, and then bind the SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the webSerive client object and make the webservie call. For the new wsdl file, I am told to use wsimport to create client stub. In the client code created, I don’t see any way that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the client object, so I have to load certs by settting system pramaters. Here I attached the the wsdl file.
    I have read many articles. It seems as long as I can install the verisign certs correctly to web logic server, I should have fixed the problem. Now the questions are:
    1.     Do I create “cacerts” the correct order with right keeltool options?
    2.     Since command line option “-Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore” is used for web server jks certificate, will that cause any problem for me?
    3.     Is it possible to use wsimport to generate client stub that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to it?
    4.     Do I need to put the “cacerts” to some specific weblogic directory?

    I received a workaround by an internal message.
    The how to guide is :
    -Download the wsdl file (with bindings, not the one from ESR)
    -Correct it in order that the schema corresponds to the answer (remove minOccurs or other things like this)
    -Deploy the wsdl file on you a server (java web project for exemple). you can deploy on your local
    -Create a new logicial destination that point to the wsdl file modified
    -Change the metadata destination in your web dynpro project for the corresponding model and keep the execution desitnation as before.
    Then the received data is check by the metadata logical destination but the data is retrieved from the correct server.

    Version: WebLogic 10gR3 Portal
    The call is being made from one cluster to another in the same domain.
    There are two separate ear files that make up the application. One EAR contains the application, the other contains services. The services ear is deployed to one cluster, and the application to another cluster. Remote EJB calls are made from the application to the services. If these ears are in separate clusters, the calls fail with the error above. If the EARs are deployed within the same cluster, the calls work correctly.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    As u are migrating from WebLogic 11g to WebLogic 10gR3 Portal so it will be best if you can generate the Artifacts like Stubs...etc using APPC compiler of WebLogic 10gR3 Portal.
    Then deploy the EAR/WAR on WebLogic 10gR3 Portal Server. http://jaysensharma.wordpress.com/2010/02/08/weblogic-specific-appc-ant-task/
    Thanks

    because I have deployed the same application onto another machine and everything
    was good (and the OS is the same).
    On the production machine (where there is a problem), i have check BEA_HOME, WL_HOME,
    JAVA_HOME and everything is good.
    Have you another tip for me ?
    Regards,
    Alain.

    is a ejbc error.

  • Two way SSL issue in weblogic

    Hi All,
    we have enabled 2 way SSL in weblogic, we have one Admin Server and one managed (soa) server version 11.1.1.5
    steps we have followed:
    we have imported identity certificate and key file to a custom identity store
    improted trust certificates to a custom trust keystore
    in weblogic consile: soa_server1-> keystires : we have updated custom identity and trust details
    in weblogic consile: soa_server1-> ssl - we have updated required custom identity details and selected " Client Certs Requested And Enforced" for Two Way Client Cert Behavior.
    but while testing our process we are getting below error:
    we have tried openssl to test the connectivity but not sure about the output, is there any way to trace the SSL connection?
    any input will be really helpful.

    Thanks for the reply, we have already referred to the mentioned Oracle Note and enabled SSL debugging.
    while starting Admin server we are getting below output:

  • Override Spring jar in Weblogic 12c

    Hi Folks,
    We have been facing an issue while overriding the Spring jar in Weblogic 12c. Basically we need to write a bean based on some 3rd party API calling their interfaces. Now they use Spring 2.5 jar for their own implementation. Since Weblogic inherently supports Spring 3.0 jar. As a result when we write our bean wrapping their interfaces and deploy it, it doesn't work. We replicated the issue by replacing Spring 2.5 jar with Spring 3 in local environment.
    If we modify the server classpath to load the Spring 2.5 jar (preceding Spring 3.0), entire soa-infra application goes down, so what We wanted to know if it is possible to override the Spring jar only for our application itself? While loading the application it will override the Spring 3.0 jar with Spring 2.5 in the application context but server will keep using Spring 3.0?
    Any ideas/suggestions highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Bhaskar

    Hi Bhaskar,
    have you tried packing the Spring libraries in your application and using the Filterring Classloader? Maybe this links can help you :

  • Reload a jar in weblogic server without restart

    Hi All,
    We are using weblogic version '10.0.1.0' and have 'reports.jar' file in server for reports.
    If we change any existing class file under 'reports.jar' then we are using below steps in order to recognize a modified jar by weblogic
    1) We need to recreate a jar using eclipse in local IDE and
    2) Copy the 'reports.jar' into server
    3) Need to restart server inorder to recognize the modified jar
    Is there any alternative solution to reload a jar in weblogic server without restart?
    Please do the needful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gangadhar

    Hi,
    If this is for weblogic running on development mode, then you can go for auto-deployment feature where weblogic will auto-deploy modified application from autodeploy directory.
    For production mode, you can go for production-redeployment feature of weblogic where it uses application versioning. So for example you deployed webapp1 with version app1.0 and then for new release you will deploy webapp1 with version app2.0 adding a retirement policy to retire old application after said time and start using webapp1 with app2.0.
    Refer to link for mode detail - http://middlewaresupport.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/production-redeployment-feature-in-weblogic/
    rank it if found useful
    Thanks,

    Hi.
    It's not 100% clear to me what you are asking for. Do you want authentication
    turned off for
    your application? That will certainly turn off prompting for authentication
    information. You
    can set your ACL for your application (in your properties file) to allow
    everyone to execute
    it. Something like:
    weblogic.allow.execute.<myApplication>=everyone
    But maybe you want some kind of silent authentication so that not everyone
    can execute your
    app? I suppose you could pass authentication info in a cookie. I really
    don't know enough
    about your application, though.
    I suggest you post this question in weblogic.developer.interest.security
    - you have a better
    chance of getting an answer there for security related questions.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weblogic 10gR3 standard edition and enterprise edition

    Difference between weblogic 10gR3 standard edition and enterprise edition ??

    WebLogic Server software is the same in all of the various download distributions available that vary on platform and 32/64 bit architecture. However, which features are licensed for use vary by the edition customers license, which is covered here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14860/products.htm#i1041725
    That link is for WLS 11g, but it applies generally to WLS 10.3.0 as well.

  • SimpleCallbackHandler no longer in weblogic.jar for WebLogic 10.3g

    I was using the weblogic.security.SimpleCallbackHandler in WebLogic 9.2 to authenticate users. I looked at the documentation for 10.3g and it still mentions this class is available, however it is not in the weblogic.jar file nor in the javadocs. Here is the URL where I was looking. http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs103/security/thin_client.html#wp1035574.
    The only CallbackHandler in the 10.3g release seems to be the weblogic.security.URLCallbackHandler class. I tried replacing the SimpleCallbackHandler with this class. When I put the weblogic.jar in my classpath and build, I get the following error.
    class file for weblogic.security.acl.internal.AuthenticatedSubject not found
    ServletAuthentication.runAs(mySubject, request);
    Indeed, this class is not in the weblogic.jar file. Both SimpleCallbackHandler and AuthenticatedSubject were in the weblogic.jar for WebLogic 9.2
    <code>
    import javax.security.auth.Subject;
    import weblogic.security.SimpleCallbackHandler;
    import weblogic.security.services.Authentication;
    public ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws Exception {
    LoginForm loginForm = (LoginForm) form;
    Subject subject = Authentication.login(new SimpleCallbackHandler(loginForm.getUsername(), loginForm.getPassword().getBytes()));
    weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject, request);
    <./code>
    Why were these removed and not deprecated???

    SimpleCallbackHandler does not exist in weblogic.jar. Used the following code to get around this. WebLogic documentation offers this as an alternative to using SimpleCallbackHandler.
    Subject subject = Authentication.login(new URLCallbackHandler(uid, pwd));
    weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject, request);
    This code agrees with the snippet provided in WebLogic documentation
    Project does not compile with the following error:
    Project: C:\apps\11g\PrismMainApp\ViewController\ViewController.jpr
    C:\apps\11g\PrismMainApp\ViewController\src\adr\prismmain\view\managed\PrismLogin.java
