WAD - Use NO_OUTPUT parameter on a new window

I am using BW3.51
I have been requested to build a front end to some BW reports.
The design has a web page that acts as the front end, where the user selects the options, and then clicks a button to open a new window which runs the BW report.
The design of the front end requires that a lot of manipulation of the web template using command urls, which I am finding often exceed the 2048 character URL limitation.
Looking in the Web API document, I found the NO_OUTPUT option, but I can't see how this can work if I open the report in a new window.
<b>Can anyone give me some guidance on how the NO_OUTPUT option will work if I am opening a new window, rather than using a frameset for the report.</b>
Thanks in advance
Richard

Set second window to focus after you set first window state to normal
private void ButtonNextWindow_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
            WindowState = WindowState.Minimized;
            var secondWindow = new SecondWindow();
            secondWindow.ShowDialog();
            WindowState = WindowState.Normal;
secondWindow.Focus();

  • Creation of PDF Document  using ADF Table data in new window

    Hi Guys,
    I have a requirement of creating a pdf document from adf table and it must open in a new window.I know creation of pdf document using itext pdf jar.But in my case how to write the table data to pdf and how to open it in new window.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

    In the TF do like this..
    view activity A-------dialog:invokePdf------->view activity B (invokePdf)
    Fragment A command button would be
    <af:commandButton action="#{pageFlowScope.PdfBean.openPDF}"
    text="Generate" id="cbpdf"
    useWindow="true"
    windowWidth="700" windowHeight="700"/>
    in the action add a return like return "dialog:invokePdf";
    Control flow outcome is "dialog:invokePdf". B would be just a empty fragment.

  • Using -private in conjunction with -new-window isn't working correctly

    Using an external program to launch Firefox with command line arguments, it seems that using -private and -new-window URL doesn't seem to work correctly. It's almost as if one or the other gets completely ignored. Has anyone else noticed this?
    Ideally, i'd like to be able to ALWAYS launch a new window to a specified URL in private mode by default.

    It is not possible to open an external link in a Private Browsing mode window.
    You can look at this extension:
    *Private Tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/private-tab/
    The Firefox menu button gets a purple background or you get a purple PB mask on the Menu bar or tab bar (Linux) when you are in a PB tab and all Private Browsing mode tabs get a dashed underlining unless you are in permanent PB mode.
    You can set the extensions.privateTab.allowOpenExternalLinksInPrivateTabs pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to see if that works (haven't tested this with a command line).

  • Using branching to open in new window.

    Hi,
    Rather than creating a whole bunch of urls manually for the links between pages, I want to use branches.
    My problem is that I need to have some of them open in a new window.
    I have tried altering the target of the flows form to a new window and submitting it, but this doesn't appear to work.
    Can anyone help with where I am going wrong?
    Thanks
    Michael.

    Hi,
    This could be a false alarm.
    I appear to have too many items on the form to allow it to submit.
    I have over 200 items on the form, there appears to be a limit of 100.

  • Can I make the finder open my most recently used folder when opening a new window?

    Hello Community!
    When I open a new finder window I would like it to open the folder I worked in last (i.e. the one I saved sth to or opened sth from). I know I can go over "Go to" but is there a way to adjust the settings so that it opens automatically?
    Thanks in advance!

    none than I know of.
    Of course, you could always make an Apple Script as an app (that you could place next to the finder icon on the dock for ex) that would do it, but that would require programming skills.

  • Request coming from the new window............... ?

    Hi All,
    Anybody please tell me how to check the request is coming from the new window.
    like if I copy the following url
    http://forum.java.sun.com/post!default.jspa?forumID=33
    and open it in a new window then I have to check that this url is coming from the new window not from the link.
    please reply soon.
    Thanks

    You would have to make the link use javascript to use a Form with a method of POST to add a parameter to the request and submit the form.
    You would have to use POST to hide the fact that you are using a parameter, otherwise the user could just copy the address with the parameter into a new window.
    So this would work in two ways:
    1) You could have a request.getParameter. If it is NULL then the user copy and pasted the link. If it is non-null then the link was clicked on.
    2) This will also force the clicked link to go to your servlet's doPost method and direct navigation to go to the servlet's doGet method.

  • Session loss when a new window pops up

    Hi there
    I'm facing a problem with sessions.I'm using IE browser and a Tomcat server version 5.0.* . I have to use sessions in order to pass my variables through out my application, but when i click a link that pops up a new window and then close the poped up window, my session and all the registerd variables in my main window, are being lost. The funny thing is that the same application on another PC with the same developing tools, browser and server, is working just fine. I even copied and pasted the working-well Tomcat over my Tomcat and the problem is still there. The fact is that i can't understand where the problem is: in my Tomcat, in IE's settings?Please replay.Anything will help me!
    George
    PS: the application i mentioned, is exactly the same in any of the testing PC's. I also have to mention that i use Eclipse 3 for the developing of my application.

    Since it works fine in other computers, the problem seems came from the IE setup.
    normally, the seesion will still keep alive, even the pop-up window being closed. You can do
    another test in Netscape to see what's going on. And also, did you use Javascript to open the new window? Check the javascript code (using windows.focus() or some other code which may
    aftect the default behavior) . Write some log information to record the session status change.

  • Constant crashing; I think Mozilla on my new Windows 7 thinks it's still operating in XP, although I'm not sure, being computer challenged.

    Ever since I started using Mozilla Firefox on my new Windows 7 computer it has crashed -- sometimes a few times a day, sometimes every ten minutes. I will copy the error message details at the end of this, if I can. I have tried numerous technicians and no one has been able to solve it. (I did reset Firefox more than once.) Just today, right clicking on the Firefox icon and going to compatability, I discovered that "Windows XP" was in the window instead of Windows 7. With the help of a Frontier technician (my internet provider) I changed that from Windows XP to Windows 7. We rebooted the computer, hoisted up Firefox, right-clicked on the icon, and sure enough it said "Windows 7" in the compatability window. However, after a short while Firefox crashed again. Right-clicking on the Firefox icon, I saw that it had reverted to "Windows XP" in the compatability window. Questions: Would Firefox's confusion about whether it was on a Windows XP or a Windows 7 computer cause crashes? Why would Firefox's compatability window revert from Windows 7 back to Windows XP? I have a theory, but I am not an expert: A local technician came in and transferred my Firefox from my WIndows XP computer to my WIndows 7 computer. I don't know whether he installed Firefox from your website or simply transferred the program from my XP computer. However, I asked him to keep my bookmarks. I have an icon on my Windows 7 computer: "Old Firefox Files." I thought that these files (there are four of them, all containing pretty much the same thing) were just my bookmarks, but looking at them today, it looks to me as if they contain the whole Firefox program from my XP computer. My inexpert theory: Firefox is reverting from WIndows 7 to Windows XP because my transferred bookmarks are XP-based. A Frontier technician today suggested I uninstall and re-install Firefox. Sounds like a good idea to me, however I am afraid that my old bookmarks will again confuse Firefox about whether it's in an XP or Windows 7 OS. Bookmarks are essential to the way I use my computer. In fact, many technicians suggested that I use Chrome instead of Firefox, but Chrome does not have an easily accessed bookmark list, like Firefox does in its vertical bookmark window. (Also, I would rather not have anything to do with Google.) Of course, I may be completely wrong about it being my bookmarks and the files transferred from my XP that are screwing up Firefox. Basically: Constant crashes and error messages; compatability window reverts from Windows 7 to Windows XP for some reason; bookmarks and other old Firefox program files have been put on this Windows 7 computer. What do you think I should do to keep Firefox from crashing?
    Here (hopefully) is the error message I get when Firefox crashes. It crashes no matter what website I am on at the moment:

  • Flex Bug - Cannot display full screen video in a new window

    My top level application consists of a login screen. When the user logs in successfully, the main application is closed using "this.close()" and a new Window() is opened. Inside the new window I've added the VideoPlayer component and specified a source.
    When I run the application, everything worked as expected. However as soon as I click the full screen option on the VideoPlayer, Flex says:
    Error: Error #3200: Cannot perform operation on closed window.
        at flash.display::Stage/desktop_set_displayState()
        at flash.display::Stage/set displayState()
        at spark.components::VideoPlayer/fullScreenButton_clickHandler()[E:\dev\4.x\frameworks\projects\spark\src\spark\components\VideoPlayer.as:2233]
    Inside the VideoPlayer.as file I've found what I think is the problem:
    2204: // add as a popup
    2205: PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
    I commented out line 2205 and added a new line:
    PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, parentApplication as DisplayObject);
    However I get the same error and it still says the problem is at line 2233 as well, even though line 2233 now reads (due to the additional line I added above):
    // TODO (rfrishbe): Should we make this FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE if in AIR?
    I cleaned my project via the Project menu but I still get the same error message. Any idea how I can resolve this problem?

    Doesn't anyone know?

    2. How do I use jsp /jstl open a new window?You can't. Use HTML or Javascript instead. The form and anchor tags (<form> and <a>) have a "target" attribute. If you set it to "_blank", then the form or link will be opened in a new window. With JS, just put window.open(url) somewhere in an "on*" attribute, e.g. onclick, onchange, etc.

  • Javascript window.open call results in new window and not new tab.

    I'm creating an extension and using JS to open a new window. I've tried a variety of forms including something like: window.open("https://www.FOO.com" + dest,,"_newtab") and just window.open(url).. The option is set (tools/options) to open in a new tab. I've looked at preferences and forum suggestions to no avail. The proper url opens in a new window instead.
    I've disabled all other addons and plugins.
    I suspect I'm doing something silly, but would appreciate any insights.
    Thx, --Don

    Thanks for the reply. I'd seen those articles. AFAIK, the default settings are as they should be to open in a new tab (3 & 2 respectively). ...new_window.override.external = -1 though I don't know what that does or if it has any bearing on the issue.

  • MassCommand Opening New Window

    Hello....
    Does anyone know if I can create a new custom command that allows the user to select a resource (i.e. like a mass command event), select the command, and open a new window....
    For example... I would like to be able to select a resource and display the properties of that resource (details-->properties)
    I can get it to work if I extend AbstractCommand, but not if I extend AbstractMassCommand.  Does AbstractMassCommand support the getLinkAttributes method?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    We have contacted SAP and they informed us that the getLinkAttributes() method usually used for things like opening new windows is not applicable to mass commands.  They went as far as to say that it didn't make sense to open new windows based on mass commands.
    Having said that, I have come up with a less than perfect workaround.  If you implement the AbstractMassCommand interface and do something similar to the following:
    public IRenderingEvent execute(IScreenflowData sfd) throws WcmException
    TextView tv = new TextView("<script>window.open('http://www.cnn.com');</script>");
    tv.setEncode(false);
    ConfirmComponent cc = new ConfirmComponent(ConfirmComponent.OK_CANCEL, this.getResourceContext().getLocale(),tv);
    OneStepScreenflow oscf = new OnseStepScreenflow(sfd,this.getAlias(),resource.getRID(),cc);
    return oscf.execute();
    The trouble with this is it forces you to have a one step screen with a confirm component on it... not the ideal case for what I wanted to do.
    I have not so far figured out how to fire JavaScript from the original window without going to the secondary window.
    Hope this helps some, and if you find any more please let me know.

  • Firefox will not open a new window

    Have tried using Ctrl+N but no new window opens.
    Any website requesting a new window to open function fails.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Opening new window from a pdf using Formcalc and gotourl

    Hello,
    I am trying to open a new browser window using Formcalc and gotourl.  We are using Livecycle Designer ES2 9.0
    Previous versions of Designer had an extra parameter at the end such as :
         xfa.host.gotoURL(<url>, 1)  or  xfa.host.gotoURL(<url>, 0)
    But in 9.0 the second parameter is removed , so I'm left only with
         xfa.host.gotoURL(<url>)  and this replaces my form rather than opening a new window.
    Our company restricts the use of Javascript with Adobe so I am left with Formcalc to accomplish what I need.
    Does anyone know why the second parameter was removed in 9.0  and/or if there is a way to accomplish what
    I need in 9.0 without using Javascript?
    Thanks,
    Norm.

    Hi,
    if you cannot use JavaScript because it is deactivated, then FormCalc won't work also.
    I don't know why the 2nd optional parameter has been removed. Here is an explaination of it.
