Wanna fix an item on stacked canvas

Hi all,,,
plz i 've a content canvas & upp on it thr is a stacked canvas coz in the window i've abt 10 items i wanna show 5 of them & scroll to the other five
the point now that i wanna one item of these items to be fixed when i'm scrolling to the end of the canvas so how i can do tht while when i put it on separate stacked it comes separately , as i canot make another stacked canvas on the one i have

the problem is i just put the item (id for example)on the content canvas & rest of items are on the stacked canvas
as first as i open the form the the id column appear alone , & when i navigate out of it ,,, it disappears & go to the other canvas
they r not displaying together
while wht's required here that this item be fixed on the screen & all other items r scrolled

Stacked canvas

Hi
I have a screen where part of the block is in a 'fixed' content canvas and part is in a stacked canvas which is scrollable. Initially, both canvases are displayed and I can scroll backwards and forwards in the stacked canvas. However, when I select one of the fields that is outside the stacked canvas the stacked canvas disappears. Is there anyway of pinning the stacked canvas so that it is visible all the time.

What i understand when your naviagation is on contact canvas item then stack canvas disappear.
it is so simple just click on the border of stack canvas and drag the stack canvas away from the items of contant canvas. it may possible your stack canvas is over the any item of contant canvas

Show stacked canvas when form is opened

Hi,
I'm working with forms 6i. My form has one multi-record block. Due to the amount of fields that need to be shown we split the block across 2 canvases, the first fields are shown in the primary canvas and next to it is something like an overflow, a stacked scrollable canvas.
The form is opened in query mode. In the beginning we only see the items on the primary canvas. Only after the user has executed his query and navigates (with tab) to the first item on the stacked canvas this one is shown. From that moment on the stacked canvas stays visible.
I want to change this behavior as such that the stacked canvas is visible all the time.
I tried to solve this using show_view in the when-new-form-instance trigger but the result is not what it should be. The view is shown but not in the same way as you would see it when you properly navigate to it. The alignment is totally out of control.
Any ideas, suggestions, are mostly appreciated.

Question about stacked canvas disappearing

Hi,
I have a block which has some database items and non-database items. Since
there are many items in the block, I use a stacked canvas with horizontal bar
to display the less important items.
In the trigger of new-block-instance, show_view('stacked_canvas')
But I face one problem. When I click on a non-database item and then move
the cursor away from the item, the stacked canvas suddenly disappears.
Any idea ?

Imagine each canvas as a piece of paper stacked on a desk. Each piece of paper possibly has a different size and the top left corner of each piece is possible oriented in a different spot. When you say show_view('stacked_canvas') its like reaching to the bottom of the pile and putting that canvas top. When you click on an item not on the stacked canvas that items canvas is placed on top. Your problem is that your non-database item content canvas is covering up the stacked canvas. I think...
Your issue could be solved by simply rearranging the canvas order by putting the stacked canvas last (I think) in the object navigator.
Raise on Entry could also be causing your issue. Go to the help. Click the search tab. Type "raise on entry". Read "Working with the Raise on Entry Canvas Property". There is a good explanation in there on how stacked canvases get covered up by content canvases and when.

Stacked canvas appearing over content canvas by default

Hi Guys,
I have a Main content canvas and a stacked canvas. Both are having common single window attached to them window type is Document.
When I launch this form then main content canvas is displayed but with stacked canvas on top of it.
Control is in main content canvas but stacked canvas is over main content canvas.
This stacked canvas should appear after some action like list change or button push which are on main content canvas.
I have checked there is no go_item call for any objects on this stacked canvas.
I have tried with commenting the code which shows canvas (show_view), still the stacked canvas appears on top of content canvas.
Can anyone guide me on this?

change the visible property of stack canvas to no and
when u want to display that canvas,,
use GO_ITEM(to send to any item in stack canvas)...
and to hide use HIDE_VIEW('your canvas name');
and be sure when u running the form, your cursor wont go to stack canvas items... because when the cursor goes there, the canvas will appear..

Why if i had used an inherited stacked canvas and tried 2 change the height and width of it ...
it doesn't change it remains with the same size,can any body answer me why it behaves like this...!?

am getting a compilation error says: identifier 'viewport_width' Must Be Declared I must apologize, I misread the Forms Help which lists "VIEWPORT HEIGHT" and "VIEWPORT WIDTH". What I failed to recognize was that there was no underscore "_" between the words. Therefore, these are Properties of the stacked canvas that can only be set through the property palette - not the SET_VIEW_PROPERTY built-in. Sorry! :8}

The difference is where the source of the referenced propertes (property class) exist. For example, if you subclass the property class from a source Form (such as a template.fmb or an Object Library.olb) then the set of properties are dependent on the source object (.fmb or .olb) and you have to ensure the source object is in the FORMS_PATH. If you manually create the property class in the form there is no dependency on other objects. For the record, it is "Best Practice" to subclass Property Classes from a common source so you can standardize and reuse common sets of properties (as well as other shared objects).
Vertically half of The content of the canvas wasn't seen the other half was blank gray ...!!! e.g. can't scroll horizontally to see the rest of it...!!! So it is cutting off some of the items on the stacked canvas? For example:

Stack canvas is hiding...

Hi guys.
I have around 20 + items in a block and am showing few items in the content canvas and the remaining items in a scrollable stack canvas. Iam having show_view code in When-New-block-instance of that block.
My problem is, when i navigate from stack canvas to the content canvas, the stack canvas is hiding.
i.e. say my content canas has 4 items and stack has 5 to 20 items, then when i navigate from 5th to 4th or from 20th to 1st item, my stack canvas is hiding.
Please help me in this.

What about if you navigate from the 3rd to 4th item or from 19th to 20th? Does it happen the same? If yes, it means that the stack canvas and the 4th item(and 20th) are one below/behind each other (at least for a very small area).
Usually this is happening when an item(from the content canvas), which is below the stacked canvas, is "navigated". Because of this, the whole stacked canvas is hidden.
Another posibility is that some "additional" navigation happens because of some programmatic defined navigation...

How to show additional items in the same window using stacked canvas.
My content canvas has 14 items, and I have to include more.
I want to know how I can use a stacked canvas to show these additional items in the same window, so that I can scroll through horzontally , as if all the items are on one canvas.

Well, I intially navigate into my content canvas. At this stage the stacked canvas is not visible, then how should I navigate to an item on the stacked canvas to make it visible?

I have a form with tree module components into the same window: one new content canvas and two new stacked canvas.
The window has an action item. When I execute this form the action item is'nt visible because is placed under the stacked canvas. Is possible display the action item at the bottom of the window?

try to adjust the View port width & height of stacked canvas properties back and forth.
ram Not sure this addresses my problem. The stacked canvas properties are fine. However, I want to be able to execute a SHOW_VIEW on my stacked canvas after a FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE has been raised. Obviously, I could place a button that did SHOW_VIEW when pressed but thats far from ideal. I want to be able to do it automatically without any need for the user to do anything.

Items overlapping in Stacked canvas

Hi,
I have added 3 columns in a stacked canvas which is in a tabbed canvas. but the new items i have added are overlapping on the existing columns. Not able to adjust the alignment properly. Please help me resolve this issue.

the sequence of the item depends on your navigation. NEXT_ITEM or PREVIOUS_ITEM navigates to the item depending on the sequence order.
regarding your problem: did you open the canvas in the layout editor? here you will find what items do not fit on the canvas.

Tab Canvas displaying Stacked Canvas at runtime disappears?

I have 3 canvases that contain the following:
1) Content Canvas -- This contains the TREE item.
2) Tab Canvas -- A tab canvas with a single Tab Page
3) Stacked Canvas -- This is a Stack Canvas with a few
text items on it.
4) Single Window.
======At runtime the following actions occur: ==========
1) The Viewport of the stacked canvas is set to the
Viewport of the Tab Page on the Tab Canvas so that it
looks like the Tab Page has a vertical and horizontal
scrollbar with text items displayed.
2) A text item on the Stacked Canvas is in focus as soon
the as the form window is displayed.
===================Problem is : =====================
1) When I select a Node of the Tree Item, the Tab Canvas
automatically disappears(or becomes invisible) , as a
result the stacked canvas displayed within it at
runtime also becomes invisible. I am left with only
the Tree item being displayed.

PS : I have never experienced this problem with just the
content canvas and the Tab Canvas together.
Any soultion to this problem is most appreciated.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. The width of the tabs in the layout editor is varied depending on the length of the text. However, at run-time, the width of the tabs is fixed, causing the tabs to be wider than the window and a set of VCR buttons to appear in the upper right corner of the canvas. Personally, I think this is a Forms bug. Why would they intentionally let us set the width to variable at design-time only to force a fixed width at run-time?

show_view('canvas_transaction');
when i pressed the button
its blinging and not visible for long time...

I never suggested that navigation to the canvas is The Only Solution I have always said and in many posts that: "+Beauty of Oracle is that you can reach the same result in 100s and 1000s of ways+" You can have 100s solutions for the same problem.
No one is omitting any other solutions, You mentioned the overlapping issue in your first post asking the OP if that was the case, I merely explained to the OP why that happens, assuming if the OP knew about the overlapping issue, he/she would have solved the problem, and my second post was in response on your comments.
It is not a must to navigate to an item that resides on the stacked canvas, but it's a good way to solve the overlapping issue in this case.

Stacked Canvas - FRM-40202

I having this problem with my form. I getting a FRM-40202 error when trying to run my
form which has two stacked and 1 content canvas.I have tried hiding the canvas.
hide_view('canvas150'); go_item('control_block.pwo_nbr');
AURUT is the content one.
canvas150 is the stacked canvas I don't want to see.
AWR is the stacked canvas i would like to see.
the data blocks are as followed:
reports
range1 and range 2 are associated with the canvas150.
range 3 and range 4 are associated with the AWR canvas.
The first problem I have is that the AURUT canvas has the canvas150 canvas on top of it
I tried deleted the canvas150 canvas and recreated it but it is still on top.of the content one and I also have a stacked canvas(canvas150) in my form.
I think that my form is corrupt. How can I fixed this problem without redoing the whole form? I tried created a contol_block and assigning the items to the control_block in my program unit. But I still see canvas150. I getting frm-40202 error. What I have read about this error is that a field in my canvas150 needs to be filled in before it will allowed me to continue to the next canvas(AWR). I don't even want to see canvas150 while I processing the items on AWR. I'm lost as to what i can do to fixed this problem. If I changed the field in question in canvas150 to "NOT REQUIRED" my form crashes.
I didn't have this problem with my first stacked canvas. Introducing my second stacked canvas has cause this problem.

Content canvas to stacked canvas for scroll bars

I have a form which has more items. Initially I developed the form with content canvas(this has vertical scroll bar). now I changed this canvas to stacked canvas to get horizontal + vertical scroll bar. But I am not able to do it. Can any one please advice me how to achieve. Basically I need horizontal + veritcal scroll, so that user can easily scroll it.

This is a common task in Oracle Applications forms, the steps would be:
- Put the context, fixed fields on content canvas, to the left of the window
- Modify the block to show vertical scroll bar, display it on content canvas, to the right of the window
- Accommodate remaining fields on stacked canvas, all of them from 0.0 to the right.
- Modify stacked canvas viewport size and position to be shown in the space between the fixed fields on the content canvas and the vertical scrollbar on it, allow for space to the horizontal scrollbar
- As Craig's answer states, modify stacked canvas property to show horizontal scrollbar

Stacked canvas Issues when on the web

I have a stacked canvas whose Viewport_X_Pos is set to some values other than 0. When the canvas is run on the web, however, the canvas is pushed to the right by same amount to the left cutting the canvas. Is This a bug and if yes, is there any better work around than pushing the items in the canvas to the left to compensate? Note that the canvas behaves nice when on a client/server.

We also encountered this problem!
Sometimes we managed to fix it taking care that the stacked canvas not to interfere/overlap with any other object on the content(other stacked canvas, an item, a graphical object etc.) that hosts it.
Sometimes we could not fix it.
