Items overlapping in Stacked canvas

Hi,
I have added 3 columns in a stacked canvas which is in a tabbed canvas. but the new items i have added are overlapping on the existing columns. Not able to adjust the alignment properly. Please help me resolve this issue.

the sequence of the item depends on your navigation. NEXT_ITEM or PREVIOUS_ITEM navigates to the item depending on the sequence order.
regarding your problem: did you open the canvas in the layout editor? here you will find what items do not fit on the canvas.

How to show additional items in the same window using stacked canvas.
My content canvas has 14 items, and I have to include more.
I want to know how I can use a stacked canvas to show these additional items in the same window, so that I can scroll through horzontally , as if all the items are on one canvas.

Well, I intially navigate into my content canvas. At this stage the stacked canvas is not visible, then how should I navigate to an item on the stacked canvas to make it visible?

Simple Problem with Stacked Canvas, I hope

Hello all,
I am become a bit frustrated with what I thought would be a simple form development solution. I am trying to create a form with a stacked canvas that will display about 20 fields that can be scrolled through. This is the detail
Total of 25 fields
5 Fields on the content canvas
20 Fields on the stacked canvas
I created the first canvas that originally contained all 25 fields. Then I created the stacked canvas and moved the appropriate fields to the stacked canvas. Using the forms builder editor, I positioned my stacked canvas as such so that it would not overlap the last field on the content canvas or visa versa. This is a form being developed for Oracle EBus. Whenever I run the form in the apps, the stacked canvas is not visible. It only becomes visible when the 1st field on the canvas has focus. When the stacked canvas becomes visible, it shows all of the items of the stacked canvas and not just the ones that I included in the viewpoint. Once I tab through the last field of the stacked canvas, it goes back to the first field on the content canvas and the stacked canvas disappears. At this point I am not doing anything complicated, but for whatever reason this just is NOT working. Any advice anyone can provide, I would very much appreciate it. This is VERY frustrating.

Step No. 1
Set the STACKED CANVAS's property VIEWPORT WIDTH AND VIEWPORT HEIGHT
This property determines what viewable width and height of the stacked canvas at runtime.
Set SHOW HORIZONTAL SCROLL BAR or SHOW VERTICAL SCROLL BAR or BOTH as YES so that you can scroll down to view all the items in the CANVAS.
Step NO.2
In your WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger, write the code to make the canvas visible

Tab Canvas displaying Stacked Canvas at runtime disappears?

I have 3 canvases that contain the following:
1) Content Canvas -- This contains the TREE item.
2) Tab Canvas -- A tab canvas with a single Tab Page
3) Stacked Canvas -- This is a Stack Canvas with a few
text items on it.
4) Single Window.
======At runtime the following actions occur: ==========
1) The Viewport of the stacked canvas is set to the
Viewport of the Tab Page on the Tab Canvas so that it
looks like the Tab Page has a vertical and horizontal
scrollbar with text items displayed.
2) A text item on the Stacked Canvas is in focus as soon
the as the form window is displayed.
===================Problem is : =====================
1) When I select a Node of the Tree Item, the Tab Canvas
automatically disappears(or becomes invisible) , as a
result the stacked canvas displayed within it at
runtime also becomes invisible. I am left with only
the Tree item being displayed.

PS : I have never experienced this problem with just the
content canvas and the Tab Canvas together.
Any soultion to this problem is most appreciated.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. The width of the tabs in the layout editor is varied depending on the length of the text. However, at run-time, the width of the tabs is fixed, causing the tabs to be wider than the window and a set of VCR buttons to appear in the upper right corner of the canvas. Personally, I think this is a Forms bug. Why would they intentionally let us set the width to variable at design-time only to force a fixed width at run-time?

Show stacked canvas when form is opened

Hi,
I'm working with forms 6i. My form has one multi-record block. Due to the amount of fields that need to be shown we split the block across 2 canvases, the first fields are shown in the primary canvas and next to it is something like an overflow, a stacked scrollable canvas.
The form is opened in query mode. In the beginning we only see the items on the primary canvas. Only after the user has executed his query and navigates (with tab) to the first item on the stacked canvas this one is shown. From that moment on the stacked canvas stays visible.
I want to change this behavior as such that the stacked canvas is visible all the time.
I tried to solve this using show_view in the when-new-form-instance trigger but the result is not what it should be. The view is shown but not in the same way as you would see it when you properly navigate to it. The alignment is totally out of control.
Any ideas, suggestions, are mostly appreciated.

To maybe make things a bit more strange then they're already.
GO_ITEM('DEELNEMERS.DROOMPLOEG'); -- Item in stacked canvas

PAUSE;
GO_ITEM('DEELNEMERS.CODE'); -- First item (on primary canvas)It works with above code but not without the pause.

BOSSY STACKED CANVAS

I have a simple form with two canvases, one content and one stacked.
When I run the form, the stocked canvas always displays first despite having the property 'display on entry' set to 'no'.
I have only encountered this problem having converted the form from version 4.5 to version 6i! It worked fine in version 4.5!
What am I missing??

Maybe, while opening your form, you're navigating to an item on the stacked canvas as first action (or you have no navigable item on the content)...
Check out what happens using hide_view/show_view built-ins.

How to change the order of columns displayed in Stacked Canvas

Dear Member,
I have a Stacked Cavas which has many Items. How do i change the order of the Items displayed when the form is opened?
I checked the X-Position in the property palette of each item, all the items have an X-position=0. I am really confused how do i change the order of the columns which are displayed in the stacked canvas when opening the form.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If i Try to use SET_ITEM_PROPERTY('BLOCK.ITEM', X_POS, myXpos);
then it will increment each item X Position. The Total Stacked Canvas width i have is 9 and there are total of 36 items in the stacked canvas each of equal width 1.1,
so the total becomes 38.5 which is greater than 9.
I saw all triggers in the code, i dont see any code which exclusively determines item positions at run time. As i said before all the items have X position as zero but still they come up nicely.
i HAVE A button in the form and following is the code which is written in when-button pressed trigger :
show_view('DETAIL_CNT');
GO_BLOCK('XX_PA_BUDGET_DTL_BLK');
where DETAIL_CNT is the content canvas and 'XX_PA_BUDGET_DTL_BLK' is the data block in which items from both stacked and content exsist.
I dont understand why this is happening.

Calling values to a Stacked Canvas

Is there a way to pull information from different tables onto a stacked canvas? I want to be able to call this canvas from an Order form to check on the payment history of customers. I would like to grey out (disable) the text items I create on the stacked canvas so that it appears like text are directly written on the stacked canvas.

Here's another option...
Instead of the Control block that duplicates the items that you want to show on the stacked canvas, you can just duplicate the item in whatever block it is in. Give the item a different name, set the "Synchronize With Item" property to the actual item, make the new item a non-database item, and set the new item's canvas to your stacked canvas. Then you do need any code to copy the values. It will always be synchronized with the original item.
It isn't that much different, but you don't have the side effect of changing blocks when you navigate to the item on the stacked canvas.

Stacked canvas as a tab element

I am working on a form say 'A'. In this form, I have a tabbed canvas 'B' with 4 tabs.
I created another stacked canvas 'C' on which there are elements from 3 different blocks. Now I need to make this stacked canvas as an element of tab2 in canvas 'B'. I.e., if the user clicks on the tab2 of canvasB, it should show the stacked canvas C below the tab.
How can I do this?

It is not possible to define stacked canvas for a tab canvas.
To avoid such circumstances,
in pre-form, you write
HIDE_VIEW('STACKED_CANVAS');
SHOW_VIEW('TAB_CANVAS');
If tab canvas is not showing up, set the fol. property
raise on entry : yes
viewport x and y position to 0
and try runing ,
if the tab canvas is showing up, gradually return to the required position
else check for any hide_view(tab_canvas) code in your form.
or you can reduce the height of content canvas to view tab canvas. Check the window name of content and tab canvas is same.
And in when tab page changed, you write for each tab page name

Why that go-item is required?
Suppose your cursor is in an item in the stacked canvas, and if you click on page 1, The stack canvas wont disappear.

Stacked canvas dimentions problem

Why if i had used an inherited stacked canvas and tried 2 change the height and width of it ...
it doesn't change it remains with the same size,can any body answer me why it behaves like this...!?

am getting a compilation error says: identifier 'viewport_width' Must Be Declared I must apologize, I misread the Forms Help which lists "VIEWPORT HEIGHT" and "VIEWPORT WIDTH". What I failed to recognize was that there was no underscore "_" between the words. Therefore, these are Properties of the stacked canvas that can only be set through the property palette - not the SET_VIEW_PROPERTY built-in. Sorry! :8}

The difference is where the source of the referenced propertes (property class) exist. For example, if you subclass the property class from a source Form (such as a template.fmb or an Object Library.olb) then the set of properties are dependent on the source object (.fmb or .olb) and you have to ensure the source object is in the FORMS_PATH. If you manually create the property class in the form there is no dependency on other objects. For the record, it is "Best Practice" to subclass Property Classes from a common source so you can standardize and reuse common sets of properties (as well as other shared objects).
Vertically half of The content of the canvas wasn't seen the other half was blank gray ...!!! e.g. can't scroll horizontally to see the rest of it...!!! So it is cutting off some of the items on the stacked canvas? For example:

Calling content canvas with stacked canvas

Hi.
i have a content canvas in that i have a linked stacked canvas...
from some other screen if i call content canvas by show_view('Content canvas') i am only getting the content canvas. but i am not getting the linked stacked canvas. weather it is correct ,or not . if i want to see the stacked canvas on content canvas ,i nee to call the stacked canvas too?.
please clearify me..

Normally, it is not required to explicitely call a show_view on a stacked canvas.
In Object Navigator, assure that the stacked canvas (in terms of a sequence) is below the content canvas.
If the stacked canvas is still not shown issue a GO_BLOCK() and / or GO_ITEM() e.g. in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE Trigger
to the block having at least on item on the stacked canvas to be displayed.
In doing so, you must assure that at least one item on the block (having the stacked canvas assigned) is able to receive
the focus (is enabled and it might be required to set the keyboard navigable property (not sure about that)).
Due to the internal navigation of oracle forms, the canvas should get displayed when an item on the canvas receives the focus

Stack Canvas Horizontal Scroll Bar

Hi There,
I'm using Forms 6i (Rel.2) and i am facing a problem with may stack canvas's horizontal scroll bar at runtime, as follows:
As I put the cursor on an Item inside the stack canvas, and try to scroll away to the left where that Item is no longer viewable, and then stop scrolling, the scroll back will jump back to that Item,so I have to press and hold the mouse on the scroll bar as long as I need to see other Items at the far end! I tried to set the "Raise on entry" property to "YES", but no success.
I tried the same in Forms 5 and it works fine with no problems at all!!!
Any suggestions?

Hi,
My colleague found out that a timer I had programmed in a calling form to show the current time was actually refreshing every one second and in doing that it was refreshing the whole view which caused it to jump back to the first item. I had to remove the timer and it's working fine now.

Wanna fix an item on stacked canvas

plz i 've a content canvas & upp on it thr is a stacked canvas coz in the window i've abt 10 items i wanna show 5 of them & scroll to the other five
the point now that i wanna one item of these items to be fixed when i'm scrolling to the end of the canvas so how i can do tht while when i put it on separate stacked it comes separately , as i canot make another stacked canvas on the one i have

the problem is i just put the item (id for example)on the content canvas & rest of items are on the stacked canvas
as first as i open the form the the id column appear alone , & when i navigate out of it ,,, it disappears & go to the other canvas
they r not displaying together
while wht's required here that this item be fixed on the screen & all other items r scrolled

New stacked canvas and action items

I have a form with tree module components into the same window: one new content canvas and two new stacked canvas.
The window has an action item. When I execute this form the action item is'nt visible because is placed under the stacked canvas. Is possible display the action item at the bottom of the window?

try to adjust the View port width & height of stacked canvas properties back and forth.
ram Not sure this addresses my problem. The stacked canvas properties are fine. However, I want to be able to execute a SHOW_VIEW on my stacked canvas after a FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE has been raised. Obviously, I could place a button that did SHOW_VIEW when pressed but thats far from ideal. I want to be able to do it automatically without any need for the user to do anything.

Stacked canvas is overlapping the content canvas

Hi all,
I am writing a program where I have one content canvas and a button to display the stacked canvas on button click. But when I run the form, 'only' the stacked canvas is showing-up even though I have hidden the stacked canvas in the on-new-form trigger.
Can anybody please shed some light.

Hi,
Assuming you have two or more datablocks:
On the object navigator, move up (drag-drop) the datablock shown on the main canvas, so it apeears first.
OR
Open the Forms properties and set property: "First navigation data block"
