I have done the EP integration with MDMusing System ALias. However I hav'nt done it using JNDI Lookup.
Hence it will be difficult to compare the performance of both the process. However, while working with System Alias, the performance was quite good as easily you can connect to the repository in a MDM server and then perform the User mapping. The fiurther process can be understood in the article mentioned above.

if we want create MDM workflows in portal thru GP then we need to create the callable object initially which will integrate the MDM system thru MDM Apis
suppose if we choose the option of taking the ABAP webdynpro as callable object then what is the development efforts/Steps to involve for creating the callable objects.
i hope that we can use the ABAP wendynpro thru MDM ABAP APIs where we can integrate MDM data in ABAP webdynpro application.
can you please list out what is the Aims from enduser level and development level.
Please more details on this??

HT4623 How do i update an older ipad's IOS? It does not want to connect to server.

How do I update an older IPAD? When I go to update it gives me a message regarding it cannot connect to the apple server, yet internet service is okay.
I have also checked to see if itunes is listed in program to accept through the windows firewall. All of this is good. Any suggestions?

Want to connect to server

I use my PowerBook's airport to connect to my workplace's wireless network; all the hardware is PC/Windows except for mine, fyi. Can load my email from the Exchange server to Entourage, can use the internet, without issues.
The problem: I can't get to the files on the server.
In Finder, I can click on Network and see several folders that match items on our office network, including one with the name of our network.
When I click that "comapnynetwork" folder, it shows me all the machines using the network globe icon, including the server, with an arrow as though it is a shortcut link.
When I click on "myserver"'s icon, I get a box asking for my user name and password, which are met with a "The alias "myserver" could not be opened because the original item cannot be found" message.
Can anyone help me?

I had the same problem awhile back.
I was the Sys Admin for a company in Emeryville, CA an I used my Mac. The backend was a Windows 2003 Server running Active Directory.
I could access email, surf the web, etc. All without issues -- just like you.
There were about 5 of us on Macs, a handful of developers on Linux, and the rest of the company on Windows.
Trying the SMB approach didn't work either -- even for the Linux users.
Needless to say, only those running Windows could access the Windows servers through share points (drive mappings).
Microsoft has a TechNet white paper on this issue, but there proposed solution can only be performed by a sys admin. And most sys admins aren't going to go mucking with a stable Windows server if they can help it.
From your point of view - there's not much that can be done. It's all up to the network admin of your company as to whether he will make provisions for your Mac or not.
It's the sad truth - I'm sorry.
The good news is... should your company ever migrate to a UNIX/Linux server running Samba (SMB) and LDAP, you're Mac will be included in all the reindeer games!
Ahhh... if the Windows world were only so nice to play with - hence the reason I gave up Windows at home over a year ago and have been virtually Microsoft free ever since!

why do you want to use JCo for connecting to MDM? MDM has its own specific Java API for this task. There's no need for using JCo at all.

MDM 5.5 SP03 - Error while connecting EP to MDM server

Hello colleagues,
I've deployed the following content of MDM 55 SP03 delivery to portal:
a. com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j.sda
b. com.sap.mdm.tech.connector.sda
c. BPMDMTECHN00_0.sca
d. BPMDMAPPLI00_0.sca
Then I created MDM system in Portal, arranged mapping but I couldn't
connect to MDM server using Connection test.
The MDM server is ip and running, port number in Portal is correct,
versions of deployed JAVA API and MDM connector fit to MDM server, user
mapping is correct too.
I actually have no idea what is the problem.
Are there any authorization requirements while connecting from EP to MDM Server?

Sorry for replying so late. I am following the steps given in the Business Package document.
1.I have created a system with system alias SAP_MDM_Repository_Customer(I want to connect to only customer repository) in a folder "Customer Repository".
2. I have created three groups MDM 5.5 SP3 Business Expert, MDM 5.5 SP3 MDM Admin, MDM 5.5 SP3 MD Expert
3. Then from the "Content provided by SAP" -> Specialist i am copying all the roles viz. Business Expert, Master Data Administrator, Master Data Expert. And then in the folder "Customer Repository" paste them as delta links.
4. Then in the user administration tab in the roles tab I am searching by group and adding the roles to these groups as below:
       Group                               Role
MDM 5.5 SP3 Business Expert      Business Expert
MDM 5.5 SP3 MDM Admin            Master Data Administrator
MDM 5.5 SP3 MD Expert            Master Data Expert
(Initially i have not adde eu_role but later i have added that also)
5. Then in the user mapping tab. I do the user mapping for the groups with the mdm repository users as below:

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?... or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

When I deploy my application I get the following error
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: a2i/common/CatalogData
It can't be determined from the exception chain, which class loader failed to load the above class. But at least the class loader of the current application does not contain a resource with name 'a2i/common/CatalogData'.
What do you guys think is the problem ?

Hi ,
   I found a document which says that MDM4J is the legacy API and is considered deprecated .The MDM Java API is the new one .I have both of them in the java build path . I am not sure if this is that cause of the problem .
Now I had a look at the javadoc for the new API but I am not able to locate the class to obtain a connection to the MDM server from a custom application being built in Netweaver Developer Studio . Can someone help me out with the same ?What would be the code to obtain the connection to the MDM server with the new JAVA API ?

MDM Repository not Connecting after Server shifting

Hi,
Here We have SAP MDM 7.1 06 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Oracle.
Recently we have shifted our MDM Server from 1 Data Center to Another Data Center, After this change MDM Instances started successfully.
1st Problem:
Now the problem is, i am not able to connect repository (Error is: Repository connect failed, Invalid Object State). After i mount the MDM Server in console, repository not connecting.
2nd Problem:
when i right click on MDM Server in Console, even i am not able to connect Databse in DBMS Setting (Error is: Unable to connect with Database server).
Need Help to fix this issue at the earliest.
Did some searches on net and sdn forums but couldn't get right solutions.

Thanks For your support.
The issue has been solved.
Problem was: MDM Server and Repository was not connecting to DB, due to sever shifting to new location with different public IP.
Solution is: when i check the tnsnames.ora file in the below location Old public IP was given so, now i just changed the newly assigned public IP, (Under file path: <Drive>:\oracle\SID\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN).
After the change and update of new public IP in tnsnames.ora, we have restart the MDM instances and DB from OS Level.
After this activity, DB connection issue was solved, then now i am able to connect to existing MDM repository.

Server with 3 NICs wants to connect to 2 switches

I have two 6509 on the distro layer ( distro 1 and distro2 ), running layer 2 only. They are connected to two 6509s on the core layer. One of the server admins has a 3 port NIC on his server bundled together to increase bandwidth. He wants to connect it to 2 ports on the distro1 and 1 port on the other distro2 switch. All 3 distro ports he is connecting to are in the same VLAN and the VLAN is allowed on all port channel connections between distro and core switches.
Will this even work since he is connected on different switches?

Those stating that a NIC channel is not allowed to two individual switches should know that a NIC teaming is usually not a link aggregation (port-channel). If it is an active-standby-standby NIC team then all you need is to make sure all 3 ports belong to the same VLAN. Traffic will leave the server on the active link and the switches will learn that the MAC address is on this port. No Port-channel config is necessary on the switches.
Load-balanced NIC teaming usually requires Port-channel if the same src MAC address can appear on multiple ports. In this case multichassis link aggregation is mandatory and you cannot connect to individual switches.
