Wanting user to have to enter pin/password to use script

what I am looking for is soemthing real easy for the user. I have a script that they call into where they can press options to open or close the script. I would like to prevent other users from doing this by requiring a simple PIN or password.  So the script would open and then ask them for a PIN and if they entered it correctly would let pass down to the menu.
I am on 7.2 express. For some reason I am not seeing the correct way to do that.
Thank you!

The most basic way to implement this is like so...
Variables
Prompt ask_for_pin = P[ask_for_pin.wav]String secret_pin = "2580789"String caller_input = ""
Script
StartAccept (--Triggering Contact--)caller_input = Get Digit String (--Triggering Contact--, ask_for_pin)  Successful    Label Validate Input    If (caller_input != null && caller_input == secret_pin)      True        Goto Authenticated      False        Goto Failed  Timeout    Goto Validate Input  Unsuccessful    Label Failed    Terminate (--Triggering Contact--)    EndLabel Authenticated...Do whatever you want in your script for authenticated users here...End
The ask_for_pin prompt is a recording that you have created and uploaded to the repository.
You could expand on this to make it more user friendly, but that's the basics of it.

Since the last software update for mountain lion, I am having a problem when trying to remove any screenshots to the trash. A box appears saying "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this"
I have checked Finder Preferences and cannot find any box that I can 'UNTICK' to resolve this. I sometimes take a lot of screenshots when I am researching something and now find I have to enter my password for every screenshot to be removed to trash.
Anyone got a solution please, Thanks

I just upgraded my iphone and now whenever it goes to sleep I have to enter a password to open it. Very frustrating! Can I disable this annoying feature? I went to Settings and disabled the Find My Phone feature thinking that would do it. But it didn't.
I am somewhat infotech-challenged. So I would appreciate help on this. Thank you in advance.

  • How can I set a password for firefox so that everyone have to enter the password before executing firefox

My younger sister executed my firefox just at this afternoon(she originally use IE), and she saw something that can't be seen. How can I set a password for firefox so that everyone have to enter the password before executing firefox?

Also see this for an English version of Profile Password:
    *Profile Password: http://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/profilepassword-en.html#PPF
It is an extension to protect the profile with a password, but being an extension that protection can easily be bypassed by starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]].<br />
So do not rely on it.<br />
If you want to protect content then you have to use methods supported by the OS like a separate user account with a password or an encrypted file system.

  • How do you set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information?

    Hi
I just want to know how you can set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information? My friend connected hers to my computer and it asked for a password so I know its a function.
I have a phone password enabled so its not that, any help would be great.

The Passcode Lock prevents syncing the iPhone with iTunes or accessing any data on the iPhone when the iPhone is connected to another computer different from the computer being used for syncing the iPhone.

  • Time Capsule: Have to enter my password to mount my Time Capsule

Whenever I power off my Mac, which isnt often, I have to enter the password for my backup disk in order for the TC to be seen on the desktop. Is this the usual behavior or is there a way it will automatically show up without entering the disk password?

    OBGYNDR,
I'm was still a little confused. You said:
Whenever I power off my Mac, which isnt often, I have to enter the password for my backup disk in order for the TC to be seen on the desktop. Is this the usual behavior or is there a way it will automatically show up without entering the disk password?
I was thinking you meant it kept asking you for a password each time you powered DOWN. But now I realize you meant that when you power back UP it's asking you for a password to remount the TC on the desktop. Well there is a fix for that.
    Open a Finder window
Select the TC in the Sidebar on the left.
Click "Connect As..." in the upper right.
Enter the TCs password. Check "Remember password in my Keychain."
You should now see the blue TC folder.
Now double-clicking the blue folder. The TCs hard disk should now be mounted on the desktop.
BTW, you don't NEED to mount the TC on the desktop to have access to it. It will always be accessible via the Finder window if you have "Connect As.." set up to 'Remember your password'. Nevertheless, if you need it to appear on your desktop each time you restar your Mac then do the following:
Mount the servers/volumes on your desktop.
    Open System Preference.
    Select "Accounts".
Choose your account on the left.
    Click "Login Items"
Now drag each drive icon you want to automatically mount at startup into this window.
    Close prefs.
Bear in mind that unless you checked “Remember password in my Keychain” the system will ask you for the password for these volumes each time you startup.
Let us know if this resolves your issue.
    Cheers!

  • Why do I have to enter my password everytime I open iTunes?

Why do I have to enter my password everytime I open iTunes?
The only time I don't have this issue is if I open up iTunes within a few hours of signing in. If more than 10+ hours, I have to sign in with my password.
I can't see an area in the preference panel where I can bypass this step.
It makes sense if I'm in the iTunes store and purchasing a song, but not if I simply want to listen to an existing playlist.
    Any help would be appreciated

Actually, the only thng that will do is set the frequency of requiring the password once it has been entered the first time. The default (I think) if restrictions are NOT turned on is fifteen minutes. Regardless of this settings, the AppleID password will need to be entered at least once (more if there is a substantial amount of time between purchases.

Is this the iTunes library/computer you sync with? You can rally only "sync" with one iTunes library/computer.However, yo can manually manage music and videos among different libraries/computer. See the manual method of:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad

my ipod is disabled and when i connect it to itunes it says that i have to enter my password but i cant because there is no swipe bar so what do i do to fix this?

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • How Often Do You Have To Enter Your Password When Redeeming Multiple Songs?

I pick up Starbucks "Pick of the Week" cards now and then, and I don't always get around to redeeming them until I have 3 or 4 cards. In the past, I've been able to enter a code, enter my password, and then just enter more codes until that iTunes Store session has ended. For the last several months, I've noticed (in both version 9 and 10) that I have to enter my password every time I enter a code.
Is this really "normal behavior?" If so, when did it start? I know I have entered as many as five codes with only the first requiring me to enter my password...

If you didn't charge the battery fully before testing, of course it won't last as long as expected!
If you're really worried about the battery life you need to do a test. Play several 28 kbit/s CBR MP3s, from a FULLY charged battery. The battery should last at least 24 hours. It's vital that you use the files specified, and the battery is fully charged, otherwise the test won't be accurate. Make sure to leave the player charging 30 minutes or so AFTER it appears to be fulled charged as it will trickle charge the final 0% of the battery.
If it does last 24 hours then it's down to the way the player is being used, and there is no problem with the battery.

  • Why do I get sent to the User Login screen to enter my password after sleep?

    Hi,
On OSX Lion, 10.7.4. I recently had to reinstall the OS on a new hard drive in my iMac and now have an issue with it that I never had before.
After prolonged periods of sleep (I haven't determined what the minimum length is before this will happen), when I come to wake the computer it shows me the User Login screen. Under my user icon is an orange checkmark, presumably to show that I am the user logged in. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the User Login screen one gets when the computer boots up. I select my user icon and enter my password and the computer unlocks.
I haven't got this set up anywhere, that I know of. I don't have the 'Security & Privacy - Require password for sleep and screen saver' option checked, never have. If I do turn that on just to check, it's a very different password screen, a little popup window in the centre of the dimmed screen.
How do I turn this feature off?
    Thanks,
    Owen

Sounds like you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. Boot to an OS X DVD or a bootable backup, and using Disk Utility, do a repair disk, and while there repair permissions. Disconnect any peripherals, and reboot. If you get the same startup behavior, do a safe boot, by holding the shift key down when booting. If that works, try a normal boot. If neither step helps, you may need to relaod your operating system.

  • TS1819 Mac OS X 10.7.4. How do I configure my network settings so I don't have to enter the password to my wireless router every time I start up or come back from sleep mode?

When I first got my MacBook Pro my wireless network at home (Linksys Wireless Router) popped right up and I entered the password and had no problems automatically connected after that. I went to a friends house this weekend who also has a wireless router named Linksys, obviously with a different password. Ever since I connected to her network I have to enter my network password at home everytime I start my computer up or wake it up from sleep mode.
My questions is what caused this to happen and how do I reconfigure my network settings so that I don't have to re-enter my password all the time?
    Thanks

  • Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to blank screen, I then have to enter my password again, start downloading or reading and it happens again. I have reset the iPad but it is still the same.

Hi, my iPad 2 keeps dropping out and going back to a blank screen. I have to again enter my password and go back to what I was doing and then it happens again, I have tried resetting and nothing has changed.
    Thanks
    Ron

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
