Wants to launch file thorough forms

Hi All,
I am downloading the form data using Text_IO Package into CSV file. I want to display the window with the button as 'Lanch File', so that when pressed should
open the file ex. consol.csv. in the MS Excel.
My OS is Win XP.
Also I want to calculate the time taken by forms to download the data into the csv file, so that i can show it as elapsed time on window.

hi,
you can write on a button click event : host('cmd /c filepath\filename.csv);
It will open up a file in excel.
To capture the time:
Select sysdate into var1 from dual ; ---- use this at the begniing of the text_io package when you are writing into the file
select sysdate into var2 from dual;------- use this just exiting from the procedure
Take the diffeerence..

We have an APEX application linked with EBS 11i. We launch the APEX application through EBS menu responsability.
In this APEX application we have a list of suppliers.
When we click on the link we want to launch the EBS forms panel Suppliers.
Of course, user has got the responsability to modify the suppliers in EBS.
Question : Does anyone has done such developpement with APEX ?
Can someone tell me if it is possible or not ?

Hello,
Have you looked at the "Write Binary File.vi" and "Read Binary File.vi" examples?
They give you a good clue as how to write and read arrays to and from binary files.
For your data it means that you could put the two data items to write in an array and write the array to file, for the read its important to in what sequence the number were written to file.

if you have a local sever, put your pdf file on the root folder, then
use this : web.show_document('http://localhost/oracle.pdf','_blank');
or web.show_document('file:///C:/oracle.pdf','_blank'); <-- if you dont have one.
instead of
web.show_document('file:///c:\oracle.pdf','_blank');

PLEASE help me.
I was at Starbuck's today trying to install new software for my new wireless internet card and when I finished I could no longer access any of my applications that require java... I have a macbook pro dual platform computer. When I try to access www.bayphoto.com to download my application it says: (see below) (which I think is strange because it's all about Starbuck's and it should be my java code- I think...). Like I said - I have no idea what's going on or how to fix this. Please help me or at least tell me whom to call- I feel so stupid- I just need help- ATT? Starbuck's? Sun?

Every PDF file should have a unique file name.

You can open the form in Acrobat, select "File > Save a Copy", open the copy you just saved (it doesn't happen automatically), edit the dropdown to add the new item, save as a new file, and then Reader-enable the file by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools. The resulting PDF should work with FormsCentral just like the original.

just do a search on the Internet for a Java Bean and add this to Forms. However, if you don't necessarily require the sound to be played from within Forms, you could use web.show_document() to call it in a URL displayed in a hidden frame on the Forms HTML page. This way it would be the browser playing the sound (assuming a proper Plugin)

Is it possible to import java library file to forms 6i. Please help me.

The Java importer is introduced in 9i.
However, most java functionality is added to Forms in the client, not the server. In 6i you can add Java pluggable components to your forms. You need to make a Java Pluggable Component to do this. Stand-alone Java beans can only be called from Forms 9i on using the fbean package.
So it depends on what you want to do with the java whether it is possible to use it in 6i.

I guess it all depends on where you need to create the output file. You can use the database package UTL_FILE to write a file to the database server file system or you can use the Forms TEXT_IO built-in to write to the client file system. Is your intent to export the data in a multi-line block to a file? If so, TEXT_IO is what you want to use. The Forms help system has all the information and a few examples you will need to get started.
