WAR deployment path in server
Hi,
Im using PS3 Webcenter Portal Application, I would like to know where the war files will be deployed in the server. In PS2 application it can be found under temp directory, but in PS3 application im unable to find the same. Please let me where the WAR files will be deployed.
Your domain (from the war file), under WebLogic Server, will be under a path similar to <your Middleware home>/user_projects/domains/<your domain name>.
That does not mean your war file lives there - it can live anywhere, because as part of the deployment process, you browse/navigate to where the file lives. If you are using autodeploy, then file lives in autodeploy directory of the admin server.

How to deploy a war file on Weblogic Server 7.0??
Hello Everyone
I am trying to deploy a servlet on Weblogic Server 7.0 as a WAR file. Can anyone of u plz tell me the steps required to do that. I am posting this question on EJb forum and not on servlets coz this is not a servlet problem, rather this is something which is related to J2EE, ie how to deploy a war file on J2EE Server.
This is how i have done it, but this is not working---
(1) First i created a directory structure for the web application according to J2EE Specification.
C:\Work\
myServletWAR\
META-INF\
WEB-INF\
classes\
HelloServlet.class
web.xml
i.e within work directory, there is a dic called myServletWAR which is my application directory which contains 2 sub directories viz META-INF which contains the mainifest file being generated by the jar utility. the second directory in the myServletWAR application dir is WEB-INF, which contains one file called web.xml for servlet mapping and one directory classes which contains HelloServlet.class
(2) I used following command for creating war file from myServletWAR director(i.e from my web application's directory).
jar -cvf TestServletWAR.war .
This creates the TestServletWAR.war file in myServletWAR dir.
Here is how my Servlet and web.xml looks like...
Servlet code
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class HelloServlet extends HttpServlet
public void doPost ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
throws IOException, ServletException
doGet( req, res );
public void doGet ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
throws IOException, ServletException
res.setContentType( "text/html" ); // Can also use "text/plain" or others.
PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
// Get the requestor's IP address (See JavaDocs to see how to get other info):
String addr = req.getRemoteAddr();
// Create output (the response):
out.println( "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>HelloServlet in myServletWAR</TITLE></HEAD>" );
out.println( "<BODY><H1 ALIGN=\"CENTER\">" );
out.println( "Hello " + addr + ", from HelloServlet in myServletWAR!" );
out.println( "</H1></BODY></HTML>" );
out.close();

After deploying the TestServletWAR.war file on the weblogic 7.0, i tried to execute the servlet from the browser by the following URL
http://localhost:7001/myServletWAR/myHello
I am getting the HTTP 404 Error, which is an indication that weblogic was unable to find the resourse, which it was requested for. Can anybody plz tell me what i m doing worng?? do i need to use weblogic related xml file (i.e weblogic.xml) also along with web.xml. If yes, then what all i need to include that. I m not very sure. A sample weblogic.xml file for this HelloWorld example will help me a lot.
Looking forward for your help
Thanx in advance

Could you please help me on this, if anyone know the solution.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramesh.Hi Ramesh,
Try to include faces jars with in your classpath.
It talk about the " java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet"
you check for this blog which help to say about this issue using JDev.

hello everybody,
i deployed the one .war file which contains 1 servlet and another 10 simple classes.i
deployed using the console and everything shows fine.the servlet mapping everything
seems to be perfect.but when i run the application nothing happens.i restared
the server.
thanks for helping.
sada
You will have to be more clear on what is happening.
With you description, I assume that it is working fine in exploded format. There
are couple of things that can go wrong on war deployment.
1) Check your war file contents. Path of the contents should not include the war
file name.
For eg: /wstt/WEB-INF/classes/com/util/Sample.class
if above is the fully qualified path of a class and if your war file name is wstt
then war file should conatin the path as
/WEB-INF/classes/com/util/Sample.class
2) Check your Target cluster/server in your console for the war file.
I hope this helps.

Total time: 1 minute 11 secondsIt seems you have not set property "soa.server.oracle.home" in bin/build.properties correctly. Clemens has mentioned the resolution here (see the first one) -
http://blogs.oracle.com/soabpm/2009/11/fusion_order_demo_-tipstrick.html
This happens because the ExternalSupplierEjb has a dependency on a shared library that get's deployed earlier - and in this case case could not be deployed. The key is to get "soa.server.oracle.home" in bin/build.properties right.
In my case this property points to "/scratch/cutschig/fmwhome/AS11gR1SOA". In a sibling directory of AS11gR1SOA you should find the wlserver_10.3 directory (in my case /scratch/cutschig/fmwhome/wlserver_10.3)Regards,

War deployment doesnt work - help
Hi All
We're trying to deploy our war file with weblogic.Deployer but it keeps failing.
We need help to understand the problem to fix it.
weblogic.Deployer invoked with options: -adminURL t3://weblogic.host.com:7001 -user weblogic -name App -source /path/to/App.war -targets App_Managed_Server -deploy
<Jan 12, 2013 11:37:11 PM PST> <Info> <J2EE Deployment SPI> <BEA-260121> <Initiating deploy operation for application, App [archive: /path/to/App.war], to App_Managed_Server .>

If this is an EAR file, please ensure the META-INF/application.xml exists. EJB-JARs should have a META-INF/ejb-jar.xml or corresponding annotations exist. If this is an exploded WAR, the name of directory must be end with ".war". RARs require a META-INF/ra.xml. A JMS deployment should be an XML file whose name ends with "-jms.xml". A JDBC deployment should be an XML file whose name ends with "-jdbc.xml". For other application types, please consult the WebLogic Server documentation.
On another war file,

What did we do wrong?
Edited by: 898644 on Jan 13, 2013 12:37 AMThey are two different problems.
The first may be due to an incorrectly packaged ear file or by some garbage temporary files or bad WebLoigc status.
The second may be due to some garbage temporary files or bad WebLoigc status.
At first step try cleaning up by
- stopping all the WebLogic server instances (admin and managed)
- removing <domain>/servers/<server_name>/tmp , <domain>/servers/<server_name>/cache , <domain>/servers/<server_name>/stage
- start all the WebLogic server instances (admin and managed)
And try again.
Bye

Please have a look: war deployment trouble
following these steps to deploy war file:
1. obtained war file with no errors with
jar cvf testwar.war .
2. put testwar.war under <oc4j_home>\applications.
3. made copy of <oc4j_home>\application.xml and saved as testwar.xml. Made an entry in testwar.xml:
<web-module id="testwar" path="../applications/testwar.war" />
4. added to server.xml:
<application name="testwar" path="testwar.xml" auto-start="true" />
5. added to default-web-site.xml:
<web-app application="testwar" name="testwar" root="/testwar" />
OC4J started O'Key with 'Auto-deploying Testwar application...' but trying to run the application with
http://server:port/testwar
gives http 404 error.
Thank you.
Anatoliy SmirnovJingzhi,
thank you for the response.
I actually tried it both ways.
Ok, now I removed the line from server.xml file, went all over everything again. Starting oc4j =>
Auto-unpacking C:\Programs\Oracle\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications\testwar.war... done
Oracle 9iAS (9.0.2.1) Containers for J2EE initialized
But trying to execute
http://<server>:<port>/testwar
only gives me
"GET /testwar HTTP/1.1" 404 131" error in http-web-access.log
I think I'll go crazy with this :-) -
JNLPDownload servlet issue when deployed in iPlanet server
Hi all,
I am doing a POC to check how JWS works to launch an applet on a workstation having two different JRE versions (14.2_06 and 1.6.0_01 installed in lower to higher version order)
I deployed the sample application files in iPlanet server 6.0. In the JNLP file, under resources tag, I included a jar file with some version. However JWS is failing to download the file, with an exception (as seen from JNLP servle log file)
JnlpDownloadServlet(4): JnlpResource: JnlpResource[WAR Path: /lib/SampleApplet__V1.1.jar versionId=1.1 name=SampleApplet.jar lastModified=Thu Jan 01 05:30:00 GMT+05:30 1970] returnVersionId=1.1]
JnlpDownloadServlet(3): Resource returned: /lib/SampleApplet__V1.1.jar
Error in processing request

at com.iplanet.server.http.servlet.NSServletRunner.Service(NSServletRunner.java:483)
The same application when deployed in tomcat server 4.1.32 is working fine.
All the jar file is available in the correct location and I have verified it. After some investigation with JNLP servlet source code, I found that iplanet 6.0 is throwing nullpointer excepton due to null return from following line from com.sun.javaws.servlet.JNLPResource.java file.
_resource = context.getResource(path); // here context is ServletContext and path input is relative path.
Has any one come across this problem in iplanet server? Does getResourcePath always return null in iPlanet server?
I don't want to change code in jnlp-servlet.jar, and it's the best case. Your inputs on this are appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
SudhakarBelow is our reuirment.
1. We will route the request based on urlprefix, these url prefix can be added and removed at runtime. We want to handle this situation automatically(not by obj conf changes). Also we will chnage the destination of request.
2. We want insert string in the url for our internal purpose.
So we opted for plugin.
BTW: I built the plugin for 32-bit environment.
$ file archMini-90.0.0.1.so
archMini-90.0.0.1.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped
Below is my cc options.

War deployment in oc4j 11110 preview
hi
I tried to deploy and run a simple application i created in jdev11.but i was not successful.
i installed the oc4j 11110 preview and also i have jdev11 in my system. set the oracle home as said in the Readme.txt file in oc4j 11110 preview installation directory.
the steps i followed are.
1. using the command oc4j -start, i started the server and i got the Welcome page in my browser using http://localhost:8888
2. with the help of the link
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/oc4j11gtp/index.html
i installed the adf runtime libraries as it is said in the link and also made necessary changes in the server.xml file
3. Then created a website as said in the in the form <websitename>-web-site.xml (like default-web-site.xml)and said its path in server.xml file.
4. then i deployed the war file in command prompt according to the command said in Read me file in the oc4j 11110 preview.and the message was shown in the command prompt that the application was deployed successfully
the last few lines are
08/1/18 10:34:01 Notification ==>Application Deployer for testing COMPLETES.
Operation time: 5422 msecs
5. i started the application using the command . and the message was shown in the command prompt that the application was started successfully
the last few lines are
08/1/18 10:34:36 Notification ==>Start completed for state manageable object: o
c4j:j2eeType=J2EEApplication,name=testing ,J2EEServer=standalone
6. then restarted the oc4j server
7.in browser then i typed http://localhost:8888/testing (since i gave the deployment name as testing)
now the problem is that im not getting the page.its showing 404 page not found error in the browser.
but there is no error show in the log file or in the command prompt.
Can anyone help me with this.
In the application directory in the oc4j 11110 preview a folder is created called testing and my pages are also there.
plz help me .
rgdsI've one question about this. I do all above things without problems and my application runs in remote machine well. But some compilation errors apears in server log, and I think that perhaps is because I can't found the following libraries:
copy %JDEVHOME%\bc4j\lib\bc4j-svc-client.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\bc4j\lib\bc4j-svc-share.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\bc4j\lib\bc4j-svc.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\BC4J\lib\bc4jwizard.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\BC4J\lib\mod-bc4jimdomains.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\BC4J\lib\adfrcutils.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
copy %JDEVHOME%\BC4J\lib\connmbean.jar %OC4JHOME%\BC4J\lib
And I can't copy this libraries to server. Anyone know where I can found it?
Thanks

Error while running a report JSP in a war file from 9iAS server
Hi,
I've a web application archive file (war) which i m deploying to the web using OEM. The war file consists of many JSPs. Among those JSPs i have one Report JSP, which i m calling from another JSP which is like a parameter form for the report JSP. When i call the report JSP, it gave me the following error,

The report tag in the report JSP is as follows,
<rw:report id="report" parameters="server=repsvr&userid=scott/tiger@db">
The report server is up and running and so is the database. This report JSP was generated from the reports builder and the opened in JDeveloper environment,in the war file project. It was then compiled and a war file was created. Surprisingly this report JSP works fine when i run my webapplication from the embedded OC4J instance for JDeveloper, but when i try to run it from the 9iAS server i get the above mentioned error. The deployment of the war file to the server is successful and the other JSPs work fine, only the reports JSP is not working. Do i need to have some settings for running the reports JSP, please advise.
Thanks in advance
UnmeshCan you please help me in deploying jdeveloper (9.0.3.1)war file to 9iAS release 1, when I try to run, none of the jsp's execute, I get java OutOf Memory error, I also think that there may be some version compatibility between jdev jdk and 9iAS jdk.
Thanks,

File Not Found Error: new WAR deployment
I'm trying to find the path to my new WAR deployed JSP files. The following error occurs:
Exception:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: d:\oracle\ora9ias_test\apache\apache\htdocs\RAP_Editor_viaWAR\RapView1_Browse.jsp
In my address bar I type: http://(oracle_home):7778/RAP_Editor_viaWAR/RapView1_Browse.jsp
I don't know why it is looking under the \apache\apache\htdocs directory. What configuration step have I missed? I'm having a similar problem finding the demo apps as well.
Thanks!
-Tony.Well, I've found out that my HTTP path issues we're related to the Portal SDK install. The OC4J instance "JDev" seems to mess up JSPs and results in a FileNotFound exception. Its looking for JSPs in the wrong place - http://<oracle-home>/apache/apache/htdocs/j2ee/...
The fix: comment out the include directive in httpd.conf that references JDev.
Another BC4J JSP issue: Be sure your datatags.jar file is current or else you'll get an HTTP 500 error due to an unsupported attribute. The application.log file will show "Error: itermode is not a property of oracle.jbo.html.jsp.datatags.DataSourceTag".

Example web service will not deploy in WebLogic Server 9.2
This example:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/webserv/use_cases.html#wp210789
fails to deploy the war with the following exception:
BUILD FAILED
D:\dev\user_projects\webServiceDomain\myExamples\hello_world\build.xml:52: weblogic.Deployer$DeployerException: weblogic.deploy.api.tools.de
ployer.DeployerException: Task 0 failed: [Deployer:149026]deploy application helloWorldEar on AdminServer.
Target state: deploy failed on Server AdminServer
com.bea.xml.XmlException: failed to load java type corresponding to e=application@http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee
Does anyone know of a workaround?This works with WLS 10.0. Make sure you use the same version of the domain wizard as your 'setenv' command $WLS_HOME env var references (eg, wls 10.0)

Can Swing/ADF directly deploy on application server?
Hi,
After creation of Swing/ADF rich client in JDevelopment, is there any way to deploy this as a WAR file on application server or this ADF option is only for direct client/server mode deployment?Hi All,
I am also interested in ADF Swing and ADF BC in 3-tier setup. I tried a couple times as mentioned above. It worked fine all the way to the EJB model deployment. The first time I tried to test the AppModule, it showed 3 configurations, one for AppModuleLocal, one for AppModuleEmbeddedAS ,and one for the AS that I deployed on. It seems to work fine as I got data on the test. The second time I tried it, only one configuration available and which was the AppModuleLocal. I did not change a thing during those tests. Would like to get some help on it.
Then I skipped the testing and moved on to create the front end. Then I noticed that the DataBindings.cpx was using the right AppModule with the configuration that point to the AppModuleLocal cogifuration file. Since I deployed the model to a different server, I tried to change it to the AS configuration that I depolyed. But the combo box only contain the AppModuleLocal configuration. That I don't understand again. Do you guys try the 3-tier model on local OC4J only or on Oracle AS as well?
Thanks
Keith
