War file -- uploading

          Hi everybody, I have a requirement where i need to upload word document into the
          server.
          When the directory structure was expanded i created an folder called upload in
          the root directory of the
          application and would put all the documents uploaded into that. But now i want
          to deploy
          this application into the production and want to deploy all the application as
          a single war file.
          so how can i write into the upload directory now which is also a part of war file.
          Do i need to write in
          some other directory which is not a part of the war file etc. Any ideas???
          Thanks in Advance

[from previous post]
          Do not give in to the dark side. To keep your application clean and secure,
          you must treat the application space (the server and the applications under
          it) as sacred. At runtime, in fact, it is best if your application server
          and the applications that it serves are "read only", even by OS level
          security where possible. That prevents a huge number of potential cracks in
          and of itself.
          Where there are items being uploaded from the browser to your app, and those
          items need to be persisted, then they should go to a database or to a
          designated data directory with the naming and organization being controlled
          100% by the app. You must avoid allowing the user to "browse" or "request"
          directly from that directory ... e.g. FileServlet. Likewise, you must avoid
          allowing the user to control how things are stored to that directory. It
          should be as transparent as a typical mail client is -- you don't know
          (unless you look) how the messages are being stored. Are they in Microsoft
          structured storage? In a database? Perhaps stored as files in a directory?
          You don't know from the interface, and you shouldn't. Similarly, a web user
          shouldn't know from the interface, and that includes the point that they
          should not be able to determine the mechanism or organization from the URL.
          And even if they attempt to guess (spoof the url) then the app must prevent
          them from accessing anyone else's data or any data that they should not see,
          and it must prevent them from changing other data too.

  • Upload files into a .war file

    Hi,
    I`m working in a webapp that upload a file from a client browser into a
    directory inside the structure of my aplication. This looks like :
    MyApp\targetdirectory
    I`m using getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("/") to get the real
    path of root of MyApp and then upload the file ...
    Everything work when I`m working with the "exploded" structure but it fails
    when I deploy it in weblogic as part of a .war file.
    Tomcat seems to handle this "exploding" the .war file at deploying time ...
    does weblogic has something similar ?

    Hello there

    How do I upload the WAR URL?
    I am shown 3 options
    Path : Config URL: WAR URL : [Intall button]
    does any one know this?

    war files are the zip files with war extention..
    and has all dir structure build inside i.e.
    WEB-INF/classes
    WEB-INF/web.xml
    WEB-INF/lib
    etc.
    I'm puting this details here cause I'm bit confuse after reading ur details ...
    U are saying
    "c:>SymbianTest

    which has the web.xml file "
    well if ur war file is right build ...u can use 'upload war file'utility of tomcat manager.
    Browse ur war file and then click install..
    Tomcat will extract the war file and will install the application under wabapps dir of tomcat...

  • File Upload Concept Problem

    Hi, I am writing a WAS4 webapp which will allow users to upload files to the WAS machine. I've written and deployed apps on WAS4 before and I create a war file and deploy it via the admin console. But something I don't quite understand is that if I create a folder, say 'upload' underneath my context root such that the path is /contextRoot/upload and this folder is inside the war file, can a user upload into this folder?
    If not, then where must I place the folder in order to perform uploads and how can I reference this folder from my java code? Do I give it absolute machine paths, or some other sort of context relative path?

    Did you try using Jakarta FileUpload? It will answer all your questions.

  • Deploying a .war file on WLP 8.1

    Hi Folks,
    I have installed BEA WLP 8.1 with Service Pack 2 on a Linux RedHat 9 machine(this
    service pack comes with the installer). Created a domain using JDBC. I used "BEA's
    Oracle Driver (Type 4) version 8.1.7, 9.0.1, 9.2.0" driver to configure oracle
    database onto domain. The settings for Distributed Domain, JMS and MultiPool were

    add classpath for my application's jar files. Started the server. Opened up console
    http://<machine ip>:7001/console, deployed three .war files that are required
    to integrate BEA with my application module. It successfully deployed. The files
    were uloaded in domainserver/upload folder. After that I restarted the server

    Looking at the log files it turns out that WL cannot find a properties

  • Deploying war file in weblogic SIP server 2.2

    Hi,
    I trying to deploy a "sar" file in weblogic SIP server,but it is not allowing me to do that.So one of my collegue told me to change the "sar" to "war" and try to deploy.
    When i am trying to deploy that it is saying that unable to find deployment descripter WEB-INF/web.xml in the war file.Actually it is there.But i don't know why it is giving that error.
    Actually i need to deploy "sar" file and i changed that file into "war" file
    What are all the trail and error to solve this problem
    (1)I made the "war" file from file folders.
    suppose my application directory name is "myapp"
    then i am going into the "myapp" folder and from there i am trying to make war file and it is having all the related class files , sip.xml file , web.xml file.
    Then i tryed to deploy that file from weblogic SIP server 2.2.console.
    (2) Next I included the weblogic.xml file also into the war file.
    (3)The "sar" file working fine in SDS 3.1,but not in we blogic SIP server.
    (4)The SDS3.1 is working with JRE 5 so i changed that JRE from 1.5 to jre 1.4. and again prepared the sar file and changed that SAR file to WAR file.
    I created a domain in SIP server which was created in "user_projects."
    For e.g., the domain name is "mydomain" and
    the directory structure is
    mydomain

  • Error 160078 when deploying WAR file after EAR file

    I am tetsing an application which does automatic deployment to WebLogic 8.1 running on Windows XP using ejbgen tool through Ant.
    The following deployment sequence produces an error. I deploy an EAR file with EJB JAR and WAR file inside. It deploys correctly. I then undeploy the EAR file. This also works. Next I deploy a WAR file using the same deployment name as for the EAR file (the 'name' parameter of weblogic.Deployer command). This deployment fails. If I restart WebLogic server, the same deployment of the WAR file succeeds.

    Any idea what goes wrong?
    Thank you.
    Michael
    Here is the command used for deployment (as reported by Ant):

    does anyone had this problem , please help, i´m trying to solve this problem and still couldn´t make it.
    Best Regard,

    Applications that you build with JDeveloper 11g are normally aimed at WebLogic 10.3 servers.
    They require Java EE 1.5 and JDK 6.

  • Question about File upload functionality in Weblogic

    Hi,
        We're currently trying to deploy a web application on the weblogic 12c server (via war file). And the app needs to upload a text file onto the a temperary directory within weblogic server. And on the web page side, we use JQuery File upload plugin.
        My question is, on the file receiver side, does weblogic provide any tools to receive the uploaded file and store it?
    Thanks very much in advance.

    Hi,
    Before setting the string or xstring to server->response->set_cdata (string) or server->response->set_data (xstring) try this:
    CONCATENATE 'attachment;filename=' lv_filename '.xml'  INTO lv_string.
    * Setting the filename by default
      server->response->set_header_field( name  = 'Content-Disposition'
                                          value = lv_string ).
    Hope this helps.

  • Deploying WAR file gets error

    Hi,
    I am new to weblogic and am trying to deploy jsps and servlets. This is my directory structure:
    MiniEjbs --> src, build, myapp dirs
    src ---->CalculateHOme,Calculate,CalculateBean. java files
    build----> src ----> ejb's class files
    ----> META-INF-----> *.xml (for ejb)
    --->MiniEjb.jar,Miniwebapps.war
    myapp--->WEB-INF--->*.xml(web)
    --->class---> accessServlet.class
    ---> calc_num.jsp
    when I deploy the war file using console I get an error
    J2EE:160043]Missing deployment descriptor "WEB-INF/web.xml"at "C:\bea\user_projects\domains\AnilRukkuDomain\AnilRukku\upload\Miniwebapp.war"
    I created a new domain AnilRukkuDomain,but all my ejbs and client apps are in C:\MiniEjbs dir.Is this a problem for my deployment? After I deploy would my context root be myapp or do I set that explicitly? My ejbs are deployed without any problem.Will my application run if I create seperate modules and deploy individually?Is it mandatory for me to create an application?
    Kindly help me out with this. I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Rukmini

    Hello,
    Could you check weblogic.xml?
    Specifically the element jsp-descriptors.
    For example:
    One can receive the same error if weblogic.xml had specified workingDir to a non-existent directory i.e d:\foo.
    The problem was that the weblogic.xml specified a non-existent directory for "workingDir" parameter for jsp-descriptor. Check once weblogic.xml especially <jsp-descriptor>.
    <jsp-descriptor>
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>compileCommand</param-name>
    <param-value>javac</param-value>
    </jsp-param>
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>workingDir</param-name>
    <param-value>d:\foo</param-value>
    </jsp-param>
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>keepgenerated</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </jsp-param>
    Try to comment any elements in weblogic.xml that is either not used or redundant.
    There is one CR also filed for prabably similar issue. You can get more informaiton about CR200819 from bea support.

  • JSP is not updated after redeploying new war file

    Hi
    I have a simple code change in JSP in a war file. When I redeploy the war file, I do not see modified JSP. Very strange.
    I am using Weblogic 8.1 and copying new war file under Admin/upload folder.
    Thank you
    RM

    Here are the steps:
    1. Modify JSP
    2. Run ant to create new war file
    3. Copy war file to Weblogic's Admin/upload/web_module_name folder
    Redeploy Application from console or restarting admin and appserver does not seem to unjar modified war file into Admin/upload and Stage folders. Can someone tell me how to force weblogic to take this new war file to deploy into Stage area?
