Warning on my Safari...

I need Help!! I keep getting this on my Safari. It won't even let me function. is this for real.. from: http://tech01geek.com. The System might have possible Security Error, Due to Suspicious Activity. Please Contact Apple Certified Live Technicians For Help 1-866-574-8900. Endless tabs appear and another from Mackeeper. How do I make it stop or do I really have a security problem??

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
/Library/Application Support/VSearch
/System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Warning Message in Safari 3.1.2.

I have downloaded and started to use Safari V3.1.2 hoping it might resolve a former problem - but no luck there!. I still get a warning message when approaching my Inbox email system which says "Your browser isn't fully supported. You're using the application at your own risk".
I don't get any such warning when using Firefox as my browser.
Is there some sort of mismatch between Safari and my mail application (not Apple), or can I rectify this problem by some preference or another?
    Many thanks.
    Lance.

    Hi,
    http://www.inbox.com/faq_faq.aspx?id=1624
    Browsers that are partially supported(2):
    - Safari (Mac OS X), version 1.3 and higher
    (2) Note #2: These browsers fit the requirements, but there may be bugs that can cause the application to not function properly. We are diligently developing work-arounds for these.
It's simply a case of inbox.com not fully supporting Safari and warning you that everything may not work as expected.

  • Warning when closing Safari page with multiple open tabs

I have just upgradred to Mountain Lion, and Safari 6.0.  In Snow Leopard, and the version of Safari it used (I don't remember the version), there was a handy little warning dialog box which has now disappeared:
Previously, when I clicked the Close button on a Safari page with more than one tab open, I got a warning asking whether I really wanted to do that, and giving me the option to cancel or proceed.  Since I regularly clicked the Page Close button by mistake instead of the Tab Close button, this warning was a life-saver.
I no longer get this dialog in ML and Safari 6.0, and I cannot find a preference or option to get it back.  Does anybody know how to do it, or is it no longer possible?
    Thanks.

  • Disable warning messages in Safari 3.0.4?

I just updated, and now I'm getting a very annoying alert that I never got before. When I try to quit Safari, it warns me that I have entered text on a Web page and that I will lose it if I quit. I can't find any way to opt out of this warning. (I never needed it before, and I don't need it now! It's just annoying!)

Thanks! It seems to have worked. I had never tried to use Terminal before, and I didn't really know what I was doing, but I pasted the code into the window, then tried Safari again, and I was able to quit without the warning. (Obviously, the problem was not related to the Tabs preference setting; "confirm when closing multiple pages was already deselected.)

  • Would we get a legit audible warning message on Safari about being hacked?

My wife tried to open Safari on her Macbook Air and got audio message on a Safari mini-window saying her network has been hacked and that she needs help from http://www.fixpc99.com and wants her to call a helpline at (647) 360-4442.
Never saw and audible message like this is it valid?

    Do not call the number.
Force quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the Shift key.

  • Safari can't verify website certificates: constant pop-ups

Suddenly, every web page/url I try to navigate to gets me a drop-down warning that states "Safari can't verify ..." etc.  Often, these warning relate to websites or addresses unrelated to my attempt.  (E.G., I tried to get to my google calendar", but got a warning asking if I still wanted to connect to a youtube site.)  This just started happening and is now constant.  Any ideas?

Back up all data. Quit the App Store application if it’s running. Test after each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Updates
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the contents of the selected folder to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
    Step 2
Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
If there's no change, quit the App Store and restore the file you moved from your backup, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, recreate your settings in the Software Update preference pane.
    Step 3
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
    Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.*.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.savedState
Here, "*" stand for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
    Step 4
If you still have problems, quit the App Store again.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    rm -fr $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.

    Hi,
Before Safari crashes, uncheck the 'Fraudulent sites' warning option in Safari preferences > Security
Assuming that fixes the problem, use [EasyFind|http://www.devon-technologies.com/download/index.html] to search for a file called SafeBrowsing.db and delete it. After doing that, quit and restart Safari and then reenable the option you disabled.
The SafeBrowsing.db file is used as a database of websites that are known to host malicious software or pretend to be a legitimate site in order to obtain account details etc. Occasionally it can become corrupt causing this problem.

    http://sorry.google.com/sorry/?continue=http://www.google.com/search%3Fq%3Dsafar i%2Bgoogle%2Bvirus%2Berrors%2Bmac%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8
I'm consistently getting this page, for 2 days now, on innocent searches / right-click searches, Google page typed entries, etc.
It's become really annoying to fill out a captcha code for every search.
Is this a known problem or is it - OMG a virus? Or just Google?

I have been having the same problem for the past week. It happens when I use the Google window in Safari. If I use the same search term in Firefox, in this case "kobe steakhouse rolling hills road" it does not happen. Same computer, different browser.
I've run a scan on my computer every night, and do occasionally catch a Windows virus, but nothing recently and my system is clean. And, yes, I know there are no known Mac viruses, but the message is real and If I could I'd put up a screenshot of the Google warning page.
My internet provider is Earthlink and I have a static IP address.
And for the purpose of enlightenment, there's a lot of chatter building up in other forums about this problem. For the record the warning on my Safari browser as I write this is:
    We're sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.
If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

  • Safari "disconnects" from Tabs content

    Hi
While i found improvements on Safari 5.1.1 ( Lower memory usage, fixed problems with flash )
I am beginning to notice a new, recurring problem with this version.
What happens is that at times Safari completely looses track of what is open on the various tabs and their content and has the need to reload all the contents from the start.
From the moment when this weird "disconnection-thing" happens, when i go on a previously opened tab to make it current, i see a blank page and after a second or two Safari newly reloads the tab and the the same thing happens for all the other opened tabs ( when i make them current )
    Anyone has this issue?
    Thanks

Could this “known bug” Apple warns about in Safari 5.1.2 that involves the “beforeload” event some extensions use be related to the issue?

  • What is ActivitySoft Flat Form.png plugin? It keeps making Safari quit.

Over the last week, Safari has been quitting unexpectedly. The warning box states: "Safari quit unexpectedly while using the .ActivitySoftFlatForm.png plugin".  I did a Google search for activity soft flat form with no explanation on what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Mac OS X 10.4.6 Components to be repaired

    Hi
With this update, all is working better than before excep for:
ImageIO - The flaw [http://macnn.com/rd/53800==http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000 760.html: warning, will crash Safari], posted by DrunkenBlog, crashes anything using the Mac OS X ImageIO API including Finder, Preview, and applications based on Webkit and WebCore.

Assuming you have an optical drive in or connected to your MBP, the easiest way to go is to do a backup of your existing iTunes library to DVDs (you may need several) .  In iTunes 9, this is done with selecting File->Library->Back Up to Disc... and following the directions.  I do not see that capability in the current iTunes, though, but if one is using Tiger, one is limited to iTunes 9.
When the discs are burned, mounting any of the discs on the MBP should cause iTunes (you may need to have it up) to ask if you want to import the files.  It goes pretty smoothly, or at least it has for me in Mt. Lion and Win-7.  It's a little involved but it does work.

  • Epass , govt. of canada website, no safarians

This is the error I receive when accessing :
    http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/eservices/tax/individuals/myaccount/register-e.html
    Warning to Mac Safari users
Unfortunately, access to epass Canada using a Mac Safari browser is temporarily unavailable. A recent software update distributed by Apple Computer Inc., caused an incompatibility with epass security components. Every effort is being made by epass Canada and Apple Computer Inc., to resolve this issue and restore your access to epass Enabled services.
Until Apple Computer is able to provide a software update solution, epass Canada will be unable to support any Mac browser access. Please visit the Apple Computer support site at www.apple.com/support/ to obtain the latest updates before attempting to access epass Canada.
With a solution expected in the very near future, your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated.
This has not ever been fixed, would like to know if someone has a solution,or are they just passing the buck to Apple. Thanks.

    Hi John,
I was able to access the site using Safari 1.2 and Safari 1.3 with no problems.
When you type in that command in the terminal, make sure to quit Safari first. Then type in that command (terminal won't respond to your request - in this case it's not necessary to anyway). Open Safari again and a debug menu should appear on the far right side of the menubar for Safari.
Resetting Safari will clear cache/history/autofill/cookies and will open a new window once it's completed with your homepage.
On the site, it recommends the following settings for Safari. You might want to give a try. I can access the site just fine here in Maryland.
How to adjust your Safari 1.2 settings?
    Enabling Java/JavaScript
Select Safari from the browser Menu bar
    Select Preferences on the menu
    Select Security
Where it says "Web Content" select the following (Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript)
    Enabling Cookies
Select Safari from the browser Menu bar
    Select Preferences on the menu
    Select Security
Where it says Accept Cookies select either Always or Only from sites you navigate to
To see the cookies you have accepted, click Show Cookies. From there, you can remove cookies.
For the new settings to take effect, click Exit or close your browser.
    Hope this helps! Good luck!
    -Ryan

  • Bug in os

I got this warning when on Safari. I went to disk utility and cleaned up. Went back and tried Safari again - same message. I tried Netscape and then IE - same message. What's with that?

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't create a new thread (errno 35); if you are not out of available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug in /home/copiacreative/www/cesarmillan.securesites.net/includes/functions/database .php on line 19

    Warning: mysql_connect():
    /home/copiacreative/www/cesarmillan.securesites.net/includes/functions/database. php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!
The error message is not caused by the browser, so it doesn't matter which browser you use. The error comes from the web page you are trying to
load. The web page is trying to connect to a MySQL database & not succeeding. PHP & MySQL are often used together to make web sites that access a database.
If this is a supported application you need to use then you'll have to contact the support people for it. Maybe the database is down, or you don't have permission to connect to it ....
If you don't need to access this web page then I'd ignore the error, or change your default home page in preferences ?
