Warranty Issues

I have purchased Black Berry 8320 from Megatronics Photo, 304, Orchard road, #B1-89, Lucky Plaza, Singapore - 238863, Tele 62358528. Bill no B03791on 30 Apr '10.  IMEI no 358281017566831. The tracking ball is not working properly, the 4 keys adjecent to the tracking ball have lost the chrome paint. At the time of purchase, I was informed it carries an international warranty. When I approached M/S Redington India Ltd, they informed that don't undertake warranty services if not bought from them & in India. Does it mean that the mobile does not carry any warranty? What am I supposed to now? whom should I contact for support services. Please let me know immediately. Thanks & Regards

Hello,
ALL warranty and service is provided by the carriers and/or authorized resellers. Since you bought it at that shop, it is they who are responsible for servicing the warranty. The fact that you are now far away from them now does not change these facts -- you must contact them to find out how they will service your warranty. After all, it is they who told you that it carried an "international warranty"...they should further have told you exactly how that warranty would be serviced.
Good luck!

  • Limit on replacing phones for warranty issues?

Is there a limit on replacing iPhones due to warranty issues? I've returned one phone already because the silent switch stopped working, and now on the new phone the camera is in the "infared" mode that's been discussed on the camera forum.
I'm hesitant to take the phone back for every little problem because a lot of places have a limit of how many times you can take a product back and still get a free replacement.

I don't believe that there is any limit set on warranty phones. I think as long as the product is still within it's factory one year warranty phase, they will swap you for defective iPhones.

  • X121e hinge warranty issue - please help!

    Dear community,
The left hinge on my x121e suddenly came apart, due to no fault of mine (see picture). I sent it to Lenovo and they are saying it is not covered by the warranty because it is customer damage. Does anyone have any advice on how to confront them on this issue? The same problem has occured to many others - see here:

    Hello moblid,
Please see my post regarding a fault in a Thinkpad which Lenovo claimed was not covered under warranty:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-Plastic-strip-loose-no-warranty/m-p/76206...
Bottom line: according to EU-regulations you are entitled to a product that works normally -under normal conditions-for at least two years, if you didn't do anything out of the ordinary  with your Thinkpad it should be covered.
You should contact Lenovo and request they escalate the matter and have the EU-warranty team review the case

  • HP's Low Grade Hinges and Warranty Issue.

Hello,   HP Area Heads,  Envy Notebook Division Heads,  Support Division Heads  and CEO.
I regret to say that perhaps buying an HP Envy laptop worth Rs, 1,15,000/-  will turn out to be my big mistake. I never thought that HP would use a LOW Grade material for Hinges that would break on its own within less then 5 months of usage.    If i calculate ,  I work 5 days a week and 5 months = 100 days.  Even if i open and close laptop twice every day = 200 times.      WOW  just 200 times and Left Hinges breaks on its own and yet HP disagrees to accept its poor quality.
HP Enginner says it won't be coverd under Warranty,  where as your Case Manager Mr. Pratheesh C R  says
    1.  Your laptop is Covered under repair only warranty
    2.  and we will repair this for free of cost as an exception.
Now I have multiple objections to this.  I can send you several links available on google and youtube videos, which confims that HP laptops has known issue with Left Hinges.
    1.  So even if you repair it, there are chances that it might break again, due to your poor quality of Hinges.  which means there is big expenses waiting if this happens again.
    2. What's the use of buying an extended Warranty of 2yrs, if these things are not covered within it. ( Now let me clarify, I am not saying that if i drop the laptop or spill coffee over it and then asking you to repair it free of cost.     I am asking you  because its broken on its own due to poor quality and you have known issue with your left hinges)
    3. A simple hinges broken, its repair procedure requires a good amount of parts replacement Top Cover, Bottom Enclosure and also disassembling the laptop to fix the hinges, This is very painful, no one likes a postmortem on his new laptop.   This also leaves a possibility that other parts may get damaged in the process.
There is only two ways, that could convince me.
    1.   Either replace your faulty product and give me a new laptop.
    OR
    2. Take the responsibility of fixing hinges when ever is broken in my 2yrs extended Warranty period free of cost.
by adding me to ADP coverage for my exended period of warranty.  ( Remember I am not asking you to do any favour if i drop the laptop or spill coffee over it.  )
This way, i would be relaxed and would not be worring about quality of hinges and what if after fixing it breaks away again on its own.
Remember laptop is worth Rs, 1,15,000/- .  Its brought from my hard earned money.  I feel too much of pain.
    Regards
    Jignesh.

Such a high value PC and Hinges gets broken just within 6 months.  This is a case of HP poor quality product.
Yet as per HP Support Service Partner "Jabil Center", Andheri Area, Mumbai City,  says that this is considered as damage by customer and it cannot be covered under warranty.
As per them, I have to claim under ADP and for that I have to prove that it was Accidental Damage,  which is again  subject to HP approval.
(Now I am wondering, was choosing HP over Dell my mistake ?)
As per Engineer, to fix hinges, he has to change Laptop Top Cover and Base enclosure,  which means almost dismantling the laptop and reassembling. (as per YouTube videos)
Something that is not acceptable to me.     I would rather demand a replacement for a fault product.

  • Mobile Phone Black Tie warranty Issues.

In Short: If a Best Buy sales associate tells you that they "simply replace your phone if it is broken" if you purchase the Black Tie warranty - it is most likely a lie.
I purchased a Droid X on 8/12/10 at the Margate FL(Store # 1424), Best buy Mobile. While the phone was being activated, the salesperson told me that I should purchase the Black Tie warranty. I was told verbally that it was a bit more expensive than the carriers warranties, but that the advantage was that if the phone was badly broken (not wear damage like scratches or battery failure) they would simply replace my phone and I would not have to go through the normal hassle of sending the phone out for repair.
On 9/6/10 (less than a month after the purchase) the phone stopped charging. There was nothing wrong with the charging port itself - it just seems the charging circuit stopped functioning. On 9/7/10 I took the phone in to Best Buy in Boynton Beach (Store #00808 as it is closer to my home) to see what my options were for service. Juan in the Mobile department was very helpful, but told me right away that they do not replace smartphones under any circumstance (only certain low end pay as you go phones) and that the sales associate in Margate told me something that was definitely not the policy of Best Buy's Black Tie warranty, no matter what I was told in order to get me to purchase it..
The phone was sent out on 09/07/10 (The Service Order is 00808957341909 with 33461 as the zip) I have called Juan at Best Buy mobile several times - and though he has been exceptionally professional and help and I was told the issue would be escalated to the manager for review several times - it is still out "awaiting parts" nearly a month later.
Best Buy has now had my phone (which suffered from a manufacturers defect) longer than I have. Add to that I believe I am paying $9.99 a month for the WORST possible warranty option (compared to the manufacturer or carrier) and was lied to by the sales associate who sold me the warranty.
I am pretty sure the sales associates replacement reference when I bought the Black Tie warranty is considered an 'oral contract' in the State of Florida and as such I will be contacting the Attorney General with this information as 3 others in my office all purchased the Black Tie warranty from Best Buy with their phones and all 3 were told the same thing about the phone being replaced with the Black Tie warranty.
I would like the manager from #00808 or  #01424 will contact me about this issue, and make good faith efforts to get it resolved amicably.

    Greetings all,
I just wanted to pass along some information to you concerning the Black Tie protection plans that may help clear some things up. Phones are only replaced instore under exceptions generally decided by a manager, every phone for the Black Tie protection plan needs to go to the service center first. They attempt to repair the phone, and if it's not reasonably repairable it is posted for "junk out." At that point your recieve a store credit for up to the full retial value of the phone. With that store credit you can purchase another phone - doesn't have to be the same phone, it could be a different phone. This is a BRAND NEW PHONE!!! Never been used by anyone. Any service provider insurance policy provides you with a referbiushed phone which, many times, have problems of their own - not to mention the deductable you have to pay in some cases.  The service center has to do something with the phone whthin 30 days of recieving the phone...ie: it needs to be shipping back ot you or approved for junk out etc. If not, the store can make a request to have the phone junked out anyway. Then you get your store credit and your new phone.  Please keep in mind it's 30 days from the time the SERVICE CENTER recieves your phone, not the store.  Also during the time your phone is out for repair the Best Buy Mobile location has loaner phones available. You'll want to check with the specific location on what phones they have available etc...
If you want to discuss the issue with a manager I would recommend stopping in or calling the store to speak with them, many times detials that are helpful can be skewed or not explained correctly when they go through multiple people. I know they would want to deal with the entire issue to make sure that it was 100% resolved.
I hope this info helps. Please let me know if you have other questions.

  • Need help on warranty issue

Who do I contact for my extended warranty? My ipod is not working right, need it fixed before the warranty is expired.

How do I obtain service for my iPod?
The iPod support site has troubleshooting articles to help you solve your iPod issue. If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPod, you can contact Apple. You can also take your iPod to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service.

  • Need help with sales/warranty issue

I need some assistance and I am hesitant to ask for it here since I know this is not an official support channel, but so far official support has not been able to do anything for me.
I wrote extensively about my experience here. Basically my notebook arrived but I did not get a ship notification  e-mail and my credit card was not charged until over a month later. This wouldn’t be that big a deal, but my warranty is not showing correctly on the look-up site. I paid extra for a two year warranty with Thinkpad Protection yet the look up site shows the standard one year warranty. I talked to warranty support several times and they told me that I needed my invoice number (which I didn’t have until recently when the ship confirmation e-mail came) and recommended I talk to sales. I have talked to sales multiple times and they generally say they have no record of my order shipping, my serial number is invalid, I must have received the wrong computer, etc. etc. Usually the call ends with them saying they will investigate the issue and get back to me which never happens.
Once the shipment e-mail finally arrived (with an invoice number) I emailed the person I have been working with at warranty support the invoice number but I have heard nothing back and my warranty is still showing incorrectly. I was considering upgrading to on-site warranty support but considering I can’t even get the warranty I originally bought working I don’t think I will bother at this point.
The whole process has left me incredibly frustrated. I continue to be very pleased with the T61 itself, but dealing with Lenovo has been quite negative so far. If anyone has any suggestions or can lend any assistance I would greatly appreciate it!

    Hi,
There may be dust buildup in the heatsink. You can buy a Can of Compressed Air from electronics stores (DickSmith and Jaycar for example) to blow the dust through the vents.
As for the battery drain, update the BIOS to the latest version ( have a look at mytoshiba.com.au -> Support -> Downloads ), then go into the BIOS by pressing F2 during POST and disable USB Sleep and Charge.
If you still have problems with it, you can send the notebook to a Toshiba Repair Center. There is an ASP list on mytoshiba.com.au

  • Less than 1 year, warranty issues, battery, mouse

    Hi all!
    I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2.8Ghz 500GB HD version.
I bought this computer Sept 19 of last year, from Maconline Chile (official Apple Vendor and supplier for Chile), and since I have moved to Panama City, Panama.
Last month, I noticed that all of a sudden my battery wouldnt last more than 5 minutes (after charging all night) and it seems "stuck" on 84% or 1:48(hr:mn)left. Since after taking off the magsafe adapter with full battery (all lights on) it will shut off without warning, id check the battery meter and itll be the single flashing green light. This is after charging for an easy 10 hours.
After noticing this, the mouse now doesnt seem to be responsive either to clicks, which is quite strange.
Now, also please keep in mind that this laptop is my baby, and spent well over $3000USD on it, and gets more care than my dog (jk) or my fish (RIP fishy). And has never been dropped and no one uses it other than me (on my office desk).
Strangely enough too, one of the sides (where the magsafe and the ethernet) has bent upward, similar to this http://bit.ly/9BENf9 (this is safe link, which was previously linked by apple moderator), but the bend is more pronounced.
I took this computer to the Panama local official supplier (Macstore) for check up because of the battery and mouse issue, considering that its still within its 1st year warranty. They first refused to take it in because it wasnt purchased with them, after them deciding that it doesnt make a difference whatsoever, they decided that warranty is void because the side is bent (not caused by me, and from what I've read on this forums and online its a aluminum quality issue), and want to charge me for a "issue check", battery replacement, and whatever repairs that must be done to check the issues with the Mouse.
Now what to do? Please your help

There is only one thing that can bend the case of your MBP, and that's the application of undue force to it in a bad place. Picking it up one-handed, particularly when it's open, does exactly that. We've seen several posts here from people who made the same mistake and paid for it with bent MBPs.
There is no "aluminum quality issue." There is only the self-evident fact that any piece of metal (or any piece of anything else) is bound to be weakest wherever it's full of holes (speaker grille holes and port openings, in the MBP's case). Picking it up one-handed applies a lot of unnecessary stress to the case, and picking it up one-handed where it's obviously weakest applies a lot of unnecessary stress where it's most likely to be damaging. Such accidental damage usually voids the warranty.

  • "Onsite Next Business Day Warranty" - Current Warranty Request/Warranty Issues/Poor Service

TL;DR at the bottom of the post, detailed information in between.   I have had a T430s for a little less than three years.  I have called the warranty/customer service ~5+ times and every time gotten extremely poor service, whether it be because parts were "backordered" for weeks at a time, or because "Next Business Day" service has been anything but. I have decided to take a different route for my most recent warranty request, I will keep an up to date account of my request via this forum, with the intent of informing as many as possible with the current state of "Onsite Next Business Day Warranty". I called the warranty ~1hr ago and filed a service request.  The outcome of the request was that "I should receive a call in the next day or so, no later than 5:30PM tomorrow" when the employee I spoke with arrives in the office.  I pressed as to who would call, the employee would not answer definitively, but hinted that it would be his manager, because my warranty request apparently contained "so many parts that it required approval".  The parts have not been shipped, and it was abundantly clear that the subject of the call would be whether this warranty request would get approved. Hopefully, readers can already tell where this is going, next business day onsite repair apparently means in the next 24 hours, you will receive a phone call letting you know if Lenovo will honor their warranty obligations that have already been paid for. To detail my issues:1. The fingerprint scanner has stopped working for the second time. 2. I have had an issue where when I pick up the laptop on the lefthand side, the screen turns to 'snow' and will not return to its regular condition until next boot.  The laptop is unusable in this condition.  I have been attempting to get this fixed essentially since I purchased the laptop, however, after 3 technicians came to 'fix' the issue, it has not been solved.  I have asked/suggested every time I have called the warranty line that the issue is the system board, and it needs to be replaced.  Every time, they have refused to replace the system board, instead opting for other parts, some of which were on 'backorder' for over a month (remember, "Next Business Day Onsite Repair").  The difficulty in obtaining warranty service from Lenovo has caused me to only attempt to get this fixed when other issues pop up, as they have in this case.  Frankly, this issue alone should have caused Lenovo to call this laptop what it is after warranty request #2, a lemon, and they should have/should send a replacement model. 3. The laptop will not 'awake' from sleep mode - when the lid is closed, the keyboard/power button will not respond, and all power sources (battery, charger cable) must be removed and the laptop restarted. 4.  When the laptop is booted up, there is a 'CMOS' error message - I have never had a BIOS battery 'go' in this short a time frame. Issues 1,3, and 4 have cropped up in the last week. The warranty employee suggested that I might need to send my laptop in for 'Depot' repair instead of onsite, which in this instance will not work because of the significant delay that may entail.  I have a professional licensing/certification exam this month, and would greatly prefer that my laptop be in tip-top shape for the exam.  The need to have the greatest level of uptime is what caused me to pay for the NBD Onsite Warranty in the first place. My previous (horrible) warranty experiences and requirement for expedient repair have led me to seek a better method for resolving issues, namely airing them in a public forum, which hopefully will elicit a response from someone who can actually get things done in the warranty department. I have 0 hope of receiving next business day repair (or even repair by Friday, as the warranty explictly says calls received after 4:00 PM might take 2 business days).  I am skeptical that the issue will be resolved in the next week or two. Likewise, I have little hope that [some of] the problem(s) will actually get resolved after "repair" has been made, as historically that has not been the case for me with this laptop.  I will be voting with my dollars after this, as I have been uniformly unimpressed with Lenovo customer service/warranty/etc.  The laptop has been very nice when it doesn't have issues (and when I don't forget to grab it in a certain way), however, everything else about Lenovo has been exceedingly frustrating. The TL;DR of this is:1. If you work for Lenovo and can help, or if you don't and can help, please do!!!  I will be extremely grateful for any assistance. 2. DO NOT under any circumstances purchase the Onsite NBD warranty thinking that the warranty will live up to the title.  I have never received NBD Onsite warranty service, despite repeatedly 'giving' the option to Lenovo to provide such service. 3. If you are considering purchasing a Lenovo product, please read some of the stories people have on their dealings with the support side of the business.  I will speak for myself and say that I will almost certainly never buy another Lenovo product again, and will strongly encourage everyone I know to do the same - after recounting my issues with them.

    Hey burgerbone,
Sorry to hear about your troubles getting your machine issues resolved. I am not sure of the onsite policy related to your symptoms but I will be happy to look into it for you.
Do you mind sending me a PM (Private Message) with your machine/case info?
    Thanks!

  • Toshiba wireless portable HDD 1TB Canvio Aero Cast - warranty issue

so i called customer care in India but they dont cater to any product brought from outside India.
i dont know what to do.
it will be respectful if toshiba company representative can solve my problem.
    looking forward for positive response

    Hi
I think first of all you should check the information in the warranty leaflet which should fin in the HDD box.
Why? Because as far as I know Toshiba Hard Drives are covered with a 2 year standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
Here you can find the details:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/Contents/Toshiba_teg/EU/Others/SW/WL_HDD.pdf
There you will find also this info:
This Warranty represents a Carry-In warranty service and is only applicable in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) where Toshiba or its Authorised Service Providers are located.
Unfortunately, this means that this standard warranty isnt available and valid in India
I think you should contact the dealer in Dubai because the dealer did not provide you correct information about the warranty.

  • WirelessWave Extended Warranty issue. Help

Hey guys. I have an issue. I just received my IPhone 3G back from WirelessWave. My Iphone had a few minor problems things, such as dust under the screen, and the ring/vibrate slider fell off. This took 40 days! So after i wrote an email to WirelessWave complaining about how long it was taking for my IPhone to be returned to me I received a phone call the next day explaining that my phone will be in the next day. That is now today and i have just picked up my phone. It looks like there is water stain on the top left of the screen and a program called blackra1n on my phone. These were not on my phone before i sent it out.
i was wondering if anyone knows who services the IPhones for WirelessWave? I'm not happy with WirelessWave. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • Lenovo A3500 tablet warranty issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, my situation is totally surreal. I bought (in Thessaloniki Greece) in 19/5/2015 the tablet Lenovo A3500 from an online shop. In 26/5/2015 I tried to check if the 3G feature works (I used wifi until then) so I placed my sim card in the sim card tray and I noticed that the sim couldnt stay inside it pop out (didnt lock inside so I could close the small lid). In 27/5/2015 I went back to the store (they have some stores to collect your products) they said we wil tke a look at it but as it seems since it is brand new we will send it to the dealership. In 3/6/2015 the store informs me that they send it to lenovo greece dealership. Yesterday 5/8/2015 after two months they called me back to tell me that the dealership cut off the warranty and that they wanted me to pay about 55 euros extra to fix my problem because I mishandled the tablet. Are they serioussssssssssss????????????? I built my previous laptop from scratch and I couldnt handle a sim card????? Can you please tell me how can I proceed I am so mad I got to deal with this brand, and the thing is here in Greece they only have a telephone number which I will use today, but I was hoping whether another buyer had a similar issue so I could get an advice

I own a Lenovo A3500-FL with A3500FL_A442_01_25_140823_BG and I have exactly the same issue. I do not believe there is something the user can do to fix this problem. Lots of Android devices had issues with wifi (Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of many) which have been solved with firmware/driver updates. As you can tell, it's been more than 2 weeks and you did not receive any reply yet. What we (users/owners) have to do is find a way to "raise awareness", inform Lenovo with other means and make sure that this issue is going to be officially confirmed and resolved.

  • Open Box Warranty Issues and Poor Lenovo Malaysia Costumer Service

    Dear Sir,
My name is Azri. I just bought a new free DOS Lenovo G400S from your authorize dealer in penang on 31th March 2014 around 6pm. Since  the unit was a free dos unit, I just brought that laptop home without opening the box for inspection due to the shop will close at 7pm. Upon arriving at my house I unbox the unit to install the OS. On first start, I notice there was an obvious one big death pixel underneath of LENOVO logo. Since it was free dos, I thought it might be the dos issues, so I boot it with linux live CD. After finish booting, I do several test and notice that the dot is really a death pixel. I pack it up and brought back to authorize dealer on 1st of April. Authorize dealer are keen to replace one to one to me as this is open box issues. How ever they need the clearance from lenovo penang for that. I leave that faulty unit with their RMA department and follow up the next day via phone. Upon follow up they inform me that Lenovo penang request the unit to be evaluate at their center. I had to wait for a few days.  On friday the authorize dealer call me and inform that the conclusion will be given by lenovo penang by monday. On Monday I went to authorize dealer again to ask for status. Again lenovo penang decline to give statement. Frustrated I called them  and after a while they inform me that my claim was rejected due to insufficient  number of death pixel. I really frustrated with lenovo service. I never use that unit and the screen already faulty when I open the box.I  hope you could resolve my problem as this unit is my costumer unit. This problem had tarnish the image of Lenovo as your unit with QC passed mark actually don't pass the mark.
Below are details of the product with attached information:

Lenovo Penang service report number: 252130 (D014-052)
I went to penang service center and explain my situation. They just asked me to call Lenovo Malaysia to get the authorization for them. So I call Lenovo malaysia on every single day since then. After long arguing they only gave me the reference number that is:
    SR : 8002963510 **MYR**
Even though I call the Lenovo Malaysia on every single day, they keep on giving excuse and the agent seem don't know or notified about my problem. When i push them harder they rejected my request for LCD replacement by qouting the US site Term and condition.
I got angry and scold them by comparing their service againts other company such HP. After that they escalate my case to their supervisor. Still after almost a month they didnt want to replace the faulty LCD, They keep delaying the answer to replace my faulty LCD. I dont know where to complain anymore. Plese lenovo help me. I was a victim of your poor support and costumer service. How do you dare to put the QC passed sticker on your machine while your machine are faulty.

Also forgot to add, but it cannot be very hard for Lenovo to send me a black/purple hairline cover for the laptop. Surely they can be taken off and put on somewhat easily.

  • RE: Warranty Issue

    Hi,
I'm sending this from Malaysia, Penang.
I'm having a T60p (8744C9U), which I bought in US.  When I first got it, I check it with Lenovo warranty status, it shows that my warranty would expired on 2010/06/11, but when I checked it days ago(6th June 2008) I found out that my warranty has expired.
    Could anyone please advice?
    Thank you
