Warranty Not Honored For Non-activated iPhones?

Hello,
Is it true that Apple will not honor warranties against manufacture defects for iPhones that have not been activated? I went back to the store where I purchased my iPhone from, and that was exactly what I was told, however, the store manager could not find where it explicitly states that under the terms and conditions for warranty. Can someone please clarify this?

If your iPhone was purchased in the U.S., it was sold as carrier locked with at&t only. None of the iPhone functions work until the iPhone is activated with at&t, or hacked to be unlocked for use with another provider.

I believe the highlighted portion for exclusions applies to a hacked/modified iPhone for use with another provider. Doing so alters the functionality or capability.
An iPhone sold in the U.S. is designed to function as activated with at&t only.

    I have an iphone 4 that I can hear callers but they cannot hear me unless I put on speaker phone .   Verizon sent me another iphone but I have text messages, photos and videos that the Apple store has been unable to transfer to my iphone account. I have NEVER activated the NEW iphone, I am still using the annoying one that does not work, all of a sudden there is a $650 CHARGE ON MY BILL.     As mentioned, if you did not return either the defective phone or the replacement sent to you within the allotted time (around 10 days I believe) then yes, you were charged for the full retail value of the device. You can't keep the replacement just because you didn't activate it. If you decided you would rather keep your defective device because you couldn't figure out how to back up your info (photos, text messages, and videos can be backed up by you on your computer and then added to the replacement device by restoring it with that backup. This info is available in the User Manual for the iPhone 4/4s that can be viewed via the Apple website) then you needed to return the replacement device. Otherwise, you elected to keep both devices and were rightfully charged for the 2nd device. This info would have also been included in the paperwork sent with the replacement device (instructing you on how much time you had to return the device). Also, normally when a rep tells you they are sending you a replacement device they will advise you that the defective one (or if you opt not to keep it, the one they sent you) must be returned using the return label included to avoid charges.
    Not sure if you can convince them to reverse the charges if you kept the device past the allotted time but if you can then you need to decide if you want to continue using your defective device or if you want to use the replacement. Read the information about backing up and restoring iPhones in the manual or on the Apple website. This will help you if the only issue was you being able to transfer your items.

    but in case of non -cenvatable item this TAB is not appearing in MIGO, is it like this.
    i have maintained in J1ID the excise material type as non-cenvatable. the excise tab is not appearing in MIGO.
    If i want to have excise tab in MIGO for non cenvatable material, what has to be done ?

          I have maintained every thing, this TAB is coming for cenvatable material, but not coming for non-cenvatable material.
    the material is excisable but we are not taking cenvat credit. so we have maintained it as non-cenvatable in j1id.
    Any reason that for the exciseable material where we are not taking cenvat credit, this TAB is not appearing?

  • OTO information not complete for non ABAP instance of system &1 in SMSY

    Hello,
    We have just applied Stack 23 and stack 24 to our Solution Manager system.  When we are executing action System Logon from  a ticket we are getting the following error:
    OTO information not complete for non ABAP instance of system &1 in SMSY
    We checked that this new message was created in note Note 1427761 - ChaRM: incorrect target system for action "System Logon".
    We went to the SMY transaction to the Product System definition for our system but we could not find which OTO information is missing there, where to load it, etc.
    We appreciate your help.

    We have not applied the note separately, but we applied the support packages, so all the changes were applied, and therefore we are getting this error message  of "OTO information is not complete ....
    We have updated as suggested the info regarding the system in the SMSY.  We have read the Remote System Data.
    We will run SOLMAN_SETUP again to review the setup, and then test again
    We appreciate also if you provide any additional input.

    external users (external AD, no-trust relationship)
    We plan to authenticate users via Claims/ADFS. The idea is to provide a MySite-Farm.

    Are there any issues with providing MySites to non-AD users?
    Are there any limitations for providing MySites to non-AD users?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create MySite for non-Active Directory users.
    Yes, it is possible to create them for non-AD users on on-premises SharePoint farms.
    You can use the ADFS authenticate to import the users to the user profile database, then create the MySite.
    If you are trusted the users to access your site or give them appropriate permissions, I don’t think there are some limitations to create MySite for non-AD users.

    BP_Factshheet/Activities is the view and the Context node BUILACTIVITY does not have the attribute activity notes.

  • IPhone 4S, dock connector broke, warranty not honored

    I went to your Apple Store on 5656 Bay Street. Emeryville, CA 94608 because the outlet connector on my iPhone 4S broke -I have had the phone for less than a year (still in warranty). This is a plastic piece inside the base of the phone and I have just used it in the normal way, connecting and disconnecting the device when it needed to be charged. I had been sent by my phone's carrier, AT&T, to the Apple store to get the phone fixed or replaced under the warranty, yet Apple answered that it was a physical problem and I should have to pay $200 to purchase a new iPhone. They tried to tell me repeatedly that the phone had water damage and that it would therefore not be covered under warranty. My phone has never had any water damage to my knowledge, nor was there any problem with the phone's function. It is and has been a perfect phone. It is simply a piece of the phone that broke off due to normal necessary charging. After even speaking with a manager they told me that if I was not happy with the quality of the device I could buy from another brand. My husband was going to buy a new iPhone 5 but after this experience she is thinking to by a Samsung Gallaxy instead. I still have my contract with AT&T and I will have to pay $200 if I decide to break the contract with them. At AT &T, they told me that after 30 days of purchase the warranty of the phone is covered by Apple and they will not do anything for me too. This is extremely upsetting to me. The normal cost for a new iPhone 4S is around $700; their product broke and they are refusing to fix it for me. I would like this complaint to go on record.
    In the last 10 years I have only buy Apple computers (two mac book pro's), other two mac books, mostly all the ipods since the first generation and I was very happy with the service and the quality of mostly all their products but in the last year this was the second issue I have with them. The first one with my Mac Book Pro overheating because a factory defect in the graphic card cost me $300, and now this one still in warranty it supposes to cost me $200. I don't think that Apple is having economy problems to just get honored their warranty. I understand if they don't fix the phone if it has a physical damage for bad use but conecting the phone to charge it?. I was felt so bad with their behaviour that the first I did when I got home was to put a complaint in the Federal Trade Commission (first time ever). I have always defend the quality of Apple products and service, but I think that is all gone.

    The phone has never been around any water and anyway the iphone is in working conditions, the only problems is the dock connector ins partially problem, it can be charged but the data sync is not working well and I'm afraid it will broke more until it couldn't be charged. If there is any water damaged (I don't think so), the only explaination is humidity, anyway the iphone is working, I don't even why he told us that because that wasn't anything in relationship with the physical damage.

  • Trust ALL root Certifications in Windows not working for non-Admins on Terminal Server

    I have been trying to setup a verification process that will allow us to us Active Directory Certifications to verify signatures. I have finally found the setting to use the Windows Store after not getting Adobe to query our Certificate Authority. It works great on our local desktop where users have Admin access, but when users do it on our Terminal Server it does not allow it. I thought the issue was access to a configuration file in the Adobe directory, but I found the setting in the Registry set correctly. But does not work correctly. One additional note is I had noticed that after I enabled it on a Non-Admin, is Adobe would say it crashed after I shut it down.
    My question is what type of privilege do you need, or maybe Adobe need to access the Windows Cert Store from a Terminal Server with a non-Admin because it is not validating after confirming the Setting is enabled.

    hello, since version 26 firefox is able to auto-update on windows even for non-admin users (when the mozilla maintenance service is getting installed in the original configuration): http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/26.0/releasenotes/#whatsnew
    those would be the auto-updates provided by mozilla directly - so i'm not sure if this is something that would fit in your environment. installing the .exe file of a new version (available at [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/]) on top of an older version will also update the program.

    Kindly check the logs in the maintenance order,it will show that the valuaton variant defined wasnot successful.
    The problem is The activity price is not calculated properly,ask the CO consutant to maintain the activity price proprerly with updation. against that cost center.
    The second one is no need to maintain the activity in workcenter as per your attachment sheet.
    Maintain in Basic data of workcenter as standard value key as SAP0 No standard value key & in Costing view maintain the cost center,Activity in below field & maintain the formula as SAP0008.

    Continuity not working for iWork. When I open numbers on my mac it can be continued to iPhone, however if I open numbers on iPhone the extended dock for numbers is not showing on mac please help!

    If you mean photo stream, that's because they only remain in iCloud for 30 days (even though your last 1000 photo stream photos remain on your iOS devices until you delete them).  When you first enable photo stream, you only get the photos from the last 39 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.
    If you want to stream your old photo stream photos to iPhoto, add them to a shared photo stream on your phone and invite yourself as a subscriber, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.  Alternatively, you can import them using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

    i suggest you to go thru the dev guide ..... but to answer your question i would say....
    **** It looks like "Define Information Template" form only accepts Independent Value Sets and not table based Value Sets (thatinvolve SQL statements).
    Well in OAF to display a dropdown list all you need is a query .. so one can write a query to extract the values from a independent value set .... but the same is not possible with table type value set instead you can use the same query used to define the table type value set .
    You can create a LOV (one with flash light) even with a independent value set ....
    To create a LOV you need a View Object(query which will fetch valid records) and a Public Region (to display)
    if you ahve these then you can achive the requirement thru personalization
    if the VO and Region are not present then you have to create them .......
    Once you are thru the dev guide please go thru the link below which shows adding a lov to an existing page thru personalization....

  • PO Partial confirmation Quantity not updated for non-catalog items in SRM

    Hi Experts,
    Partial Confirmation plus Partial Rejection from Ariba(Suppliers network) could not be processed.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1) Create a purchase order.
    2) Confirm some part of the quauntity and reject the balance part in Ariba.
    3) Open the link in SRM and click Copy push button.
    4) Click on Process PO and check PO, the PO is not updated with the changes done in Ariba
    Expected Result:
    PO should update the changes done in Ariba.
    Here when part quantity is confirmed and part is rejected at Ariba, its sending a POR but SRM is not updating anything for non-catalog items when POR is copied onto PO.But where as  in the Catalog items partially confirmed POR is copied onto PO.
    kindly give your valuable inputs to poceed furthur.

  • ISight not working for non-Apple apps under particular user account

    I noticed that my iSight built into Macbook Pro 15" is not working anymore for non-Apple apps (Skype and Webex at least) and working for Facetime and Messages Beta under same account.
    I tried to test it using different account on OS X with Skype and it is working great!
    I'm using 10.7.3.
    Any advice?

    I take it that in System Information the camera is listed under USB items ?
    Your speps say OS x 10.7.2
    Have you updated to OS X 10.7.3 ?
    If you have I would start with that by doing a COMBO Version (Not using Software Update)
    This will be everything that has been updated since OS X 107 came out and may catch those hard to trace issues.
    Using the FInder > Go Menu > Hold the ALT key and Select the Library that appears > then navigate to Preferences.
    In here find the Skype .plist.
    Open it with Quick Look.
    Can you capture that (Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) + Shift + 4 together (Also tap space bar at the end to get the Window) ) ? and post it here.
    I don't use Skype and don't have the .plist to see if it lists the camera.
    If it does it might pay to delete the.plist and force Skype to re-***** the hardware.  (It also depends how much of your other settings are in there)
    In the meantime if you go to the Skype Preferences can you see a Preview of the camera ?
    Can you turn Off access to the camera and turn it On again in Skype ?
    Skype does use Flash Player to do the Video.
    Is Webex a browser led thing that uses Flash ?
    If it looks like it is a Flash Issue do you have the GoogleTalk Video Plugin installed (there is a standalone and it is part of Chrome) ?

  • After 10.7.5 update, internet browsers do not work for non-admin user.

    My daughter has a Macbook Air running OS 10.7.5. I'm the administrator and have no problems. My daughter has had a separate user account ever since we bought the computer 13 months ago (just out of warranty).
    The computer is connected to the internet via WiFi router.
    Since the most recent system update, we can't connect to any webpages when logged in under my daughter's user account.
    Connections time out and the error message suggests we disable firewalls and proxies (there are none... I think).
    She can still connect Mail, Skype and iTunes Store but not Safari or Firefox. We downloaded Google Chrome with the admin account and installed after this problem showed but it has the same problem when using her account.
    I've searched the Apple forums and elsewhere and seen a few similar problems but none where the administrator's browsers work and the user doesn't.
    By the way, there are NO parental controls activated.
    Please help.

    Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment to check if there is some conflicts with network.
    If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

  • Will Customize or Winterboard apps ever be available for non-hacked iPhones

    I've seen hacked phones that have Cyndia on them with apps like Customize and Summerboard / Winterboard which allows the background screen and icons to be changed to themes. I think that is so cool. I'm sure Apple knows about this. Will they allow it into the app store or incorporate it into a new software upgrade?

    i ran into this "similar" tpe of problem with my car when i added a cold air intake to it and a few other minor mods to gain gas mileage... i had an issue with an ABS sensor i believe it was and had to bring it into the dealer - still under warranty. after they poked around for a bit... they called me and specifically asked me if the problem started after i added the mods?!? ... they were fishing for an excuse to not repair it under warranty but here is the deal...
    the dealer has to PROVE that the modification on the car directly caused the failure; otherwise, if it would normally be a repair covered by warranty they have to fix it under the warranty?!?! this doesn't apply to leased vehicles because you can't modify them or you bought it.
    so my issue here with the iphone is Apple should be required to PROVE that these 3rd party apps are causing problems with the phones before they out right say they will not cover them because even if you get into a snag you can restore through itunes and get the phone back to normal when you bought it... only problem is you better have backed it up!!
