Watch object variable change in parent

I've been trying to use the object.watch() method. I've never used this before, so I'm assuming I'm pretty far off base here.
What I have is a parent movie (_root.) that has a bunch of variables. As the user progresses through the movie/project the variables change based on the user's actions. Within this parent movie there is another movie embedded. In this movie, things change based on the variable changes of the parent movie. So, for instance, say the user gets through frame #20 and hits the "next" button in the parent movie, this triggers a variable change in the parent movie, which then causes the embedded movie to change its color from blue to red (or whatever, action doesn't matter)

So this is what I'm doing right now - this is the actions in the embedded "child" movie clip. I'm not really sure if I'm doing this right - but basically what happens is that this is suppose to watch for the variables "btn1_comp" and "btn2_comp" in the parent movie clip (at the _root.).
Taken from an example I saw somewhere, this should assign the variable in the root to the property of the object in the child "btn1.complete" and "btn2.complete" - but basically what I really need, is for it to watch if "_root.btn1_comp" and "_root.btn2_comp" change...
Anyone have any ideas on how I go about doing this from here??
The function "watcher" - is supposed to just replay the embedded movie clip - because it has a bunch of AS that changes the state of the movie clip based on the variables it pulls from the parent - but I need it to know to "replay" itself when a parent variable changes - I can't have it continuing to replay itself because that would end in a crazy endless loop.

I could not delete some of the existing locations in the HyperionFDM and it results in the error Object variable or With block variable not set.
I verified that the Server has the apps and subfolder which is needed for this application \\servername\data\app1\Inbox etc.

Cause
The user that logs on workbench does not have write access to the Financial Data Quality Management application shared folder.
Solution
Log onto the machine where the Financial Data Quality Management application files are located. You can locate this path by performing the following:
a) At the FDM Login page choose <Add Application> and login
b) Highlight the FDM Application in question and click the "Modify" button
c) The application path field displays the location of the application folder
2. Go the shared folder, right click and go to Properties -> Sharing -> Permissions and add the user to the Share Permissions and grant "Change" at a minimum.

When i try to configure the authentication provider in the fdm load balance manager, I've got an error "object variable or with block variable not set".

The error "Object Variable or With Block Variable Not Set" is caused when the FDM Service account does not have "Write" share permission to the FDMDATA folder structure, which resulted in the FDM Service account being unable to write the text file that is produced when running a SQL Integration Script. Without being able to write to the directory, the import process cannot complete successfully. Could you please verify the following and update the SR accordingly.
1) From the FDM Login screen select "Add Application" from the drop down list
2) Login with a valid user
3) Highlight the application that is experiencing the issue and click "modify"
4) Locate the "Application Path", this is the location of the FDM Application Files. Connect to the server hosting the FDMDATA folder.
5) Right-click on the FDMDATA folder and choose "Properties"
6) Click on the "Sharing" tab and click the "Permissions" button
7) Click "Add" and enter the id of the FDM Service Account used for all the FDM Configs and click OK
8) Check the "Full Control" box and click "Apply"
9) Click OK to save the changes. -
Non-static variable change cannot be referenced from a static context

}A static field or method is not associated with any instance of the class; rather it's associated with the class itself.
When you declared the field to be non-static (by not including the "static" keyword; non-static methods and fields are much more common so it's the default), that meant that the field was a property of an object. But the static main method, being static, didn't have an object associated with it. So there was no "change" property to refer to.
An alternative way to get this work, would be to make your main method instantiate an object of the class "change", and put the functionality in other instance methods.
By the way, class names are supposed to start with upper-case letters. That's the convention. -
Accessing variables in a parent class?

I'm rather new to java, and I've been looking at the documentation a bit but am still trying to figure out just what I am looking for. I've posted an example of such before where I have two seperate files, the parent class file and the child class file. What I want to do is somehow return the instance of parent that child was created with from the below code.

Taking that into context, it is possible to read your post very differently. Do you mean that you want to reference parent from inside of its own method, not necessarily after it has returned?
You can access an object's variables and its methods from within a method it owns. To clarify what I mean...

}If you mean you want a reference to the object itself from within one of its methods, Google for the "this" keyword.
None of these have anything to do with the child object though, so I'm still a bit stumped as to what exactly you mean. Perhaps a combination of all answers received so far?

I have created a shop game, which has a BankAccount class, Customer class and Shop class. When the program starts the Customer objects are passed to the Shop class and they buy objects depending on what they want (randomly generated) the numBread, numMilk etc (number in stock) decrements every time the customer buys an item so the object variables are being decremented there, but later when the user has the option to order more stock, it won't update them!

this.numBread = this.numBread + orderAmount;but it doesn't update the value in numBread, where as it does when the customer buys bread, and has the following:

I wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of java rule that won't allow an object variable to be changed in a certain situation.There is, but it doesn't apply in your situation. If you're curious about it, you can look up the final modifier.

Entity object track changes "Modified by"
Hi Experts,
I have a question about entity object track changes. I change enabled one entity object attribute to track change "Modified by".
However whenever the DB changes occurs then the Modified column is updated, however the name is the database connection user name. How can i override that value during the record update. Do i need to set any DbTransaction.session environment variable to save that in the db/

AD user object ntSecurityDescriptor changed
We have a single user object that was created with the same values under ntSecurityDescriptor as all other user objects in the same OU. Yesterday the user had
issues, no email, unable to access shared drives, unable to print etc. When we investigated we found over half of the settings under ntSecurityDescriptor
had been lost. There is nothing in the event logs/audit to show what, if anything, was done to his account.
I ran Get-ADUser
-Filter
-Properties ntSecurityDescriptor

-ExpandProperty

and found many inconsistencies despite user accounts being created to a standard format, apart from domain admins/IT
staff.
Is there a default set of values for ntSecurityDescriptor? If so, what is it?

This attribute holds the security defined on the object aka the ACL (Access Control List) and a set of ACEs (Access Control Entries) - Those can either be defined explicit on the object or inherited from parent objects
in the tree. Each objectClass (type) get a set of default ACEs from there schema definition - those are stored in defaultNtSecurityDescriptor.
ntSecurityDescriptor is changed when the security is changed on the object, or any other object above the particular object in the tree. Is the particular user a member of any built in group such as Domain Admins, Server Operators, Accounts Operators, Backup

However changes to ntSecurityDescriptor / ACL would not result in the issues you describe such as the particular user who had it's ntSecurityDescriptor changed loosing access to resources.

Trying to pass and object variable to a method
I have yet another question. I'm trying to display my output in succession using a next button. The button works and I get what I want using test results, however what I really want to do is pass it a variable instead of using a set number.
I want to be able to pass the object variables myProduct, myOfficeSupplies, and maxNumber to method actionPerformed so they can be in-turn passed to the displayResults method which is called in the actionPerformed method. Since there is no direct call to actionPerformed because it is called within one of the built in methods, I can't tell it to receive and pass those variables. Is there a way to do it without having to pass them through the built-in methods?

At my site, BPC Excel created this problem too "Object Variable or With Block Variable not set" .
It turned out that this is symptom of a a dys-functioning BPC COM Plug-in in XL2007 or XL2010!
This is a consequence that your Excel recently crashed while using BPC. And it relates to an Excel Add-in becoming disabled when the applications crashes. Please check the following.
Note before doing the following, close all other open Excel and BPC sessions.
Within Excel go to File à Options
Select the Add-Ins option on the left
Select the <<COM Add-ins >> option in the Manage drop down, and click Go
Make sure that the Planning and Consolidation option is selected. If not, mark this box and click OK.
If you do not see anything listed, return to the Add-in screen and select the Disabled Items option, and see if Planning and Consolidation is listed there.

Object variable not set (Error 91) in Input Enabled query
Hello,
I'm having the following issue. I have created an input enabled query and included it in a planning workbook. Every time I open the workbook or query, and I got to an input enabled cell, I get the error below:
Object variable not set (Error 91)
This client has not used planning workbooks before. The system is on 7.10 SP10 for Bex Analyzer and SAP Gui 7.10 Patch Level 13.
I'm not finding any relevant so far in SDN. Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

SSIS : Read Rows from an Object variable in SSIS Script Task which is looped many times.

Here is what I am trying to do...
1. I am having two rows, one column in an Object Variable. (vLoopCountObj).
2. I am having 30 Rows, 2 Columns in my second Object Variable (vTableRowsObj)
3. I have a FOR EACH LOOP which will run for number of rows in vLoopCountObj i.e 2 times here.
4. I have a Script Task inside the FOR EACH LOOP to display all the rows of vTableRowsObj.
5. When I execute, 30 Rows gets displayed only once. It will not display when the loop goes for second iteration. Please help me to display for second time.
6. I have used below code to display the rows whithin the script task which is in SSIS dataflow task.

It is verrrry interesting issue. I can also confirm that it doesnt loop again. I've made a simple test and figured that in the second loop even you fill the Dataadapter, record count is zero. Which brings me up to the idea: Somehow, after you read the object
variable resultset, you can not read it again in the for each loop.
Strange, probably a bug or a technical issue that is beyond my existing knowledge.
I can provide a workaround. You can also loop in script task for first variable. (Nested loops)
Let other members to examine and comment on this.

Error: Object variable or with variable not set while accessing BPC Excel
Hi,
I am working on BPC NW 7.5. When I am trying to access BPC for Excel I am getting the below error.
'object variable or with variable not set'
When I click on BPC for Excel it ask for the credentials, after entering it we encounter this error.

I am getting an error "object variable or with block variable not set" while trying to submit data through an Input schedule.
I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.
I can log in to BPC Admin and excel with my user id and password.
Only when i am trying to click esubmit --> send and refresh schedules i am getting this error.
I checked my security profile and i have the submit data task in my task profile.
Following couple existing SDN postings i tried to check the ADD-INs of the excel on my system. However it looks like the steps listed in the existing SDN posts are for MS EXCEL 2007.
Please suggest me how do i resolve this issue. Please note I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.

Hello
When I try to create a new journal, I get an error "object variable or with block variable not set"
This is happening with some computers but not all of them, the same user can create a journal in some computers.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling BPC office client but that did not work.
Do you have any other ideas ?

http://<reporting server name>/reports. If all is woking well , you have to check also the number of default sheets for an empty excel sheet (should be 3) - I ma not sure what version are you using.
If still not work, please let me know when exactly the error appear, when you try to open the template (clicking on journal option) or after when you fill the report, save it, so on.
