Watching Videos on iPod Touch - aspect ratio

I have a couple of .avi files I want to convert to mpeg4 for my iPod Touch. I'm using WinFF.
Do I convert to 16:9 Anamorphic, 16:9, or 4:3??

Depending on the video. If it is already a 16:9 ratio, then it's useless to convert it again to the same aspect ration. If it's not, it's better to choose 16:9, once the iPod is widescreen.

Does your ipod touch have the lightning connector or the 30 pin connector.
Lightning connector does not transmit video because it is digital and the KW is analog.
You can buy a convoluted combination of splitters and converters to get around this but it will be expensive and a spaghetti of wiring. If you do have a 30 pin connector, then details for proper setup are on page 106 of your English Manual.

What is the best way to format Videos for ipod touch? Used Quicktime Pro/ Export (iPhone setting). Videos aren't as crisp as downloaded Videos. Compressors /ipod video Setting also looks crapy (with bitrate med & High). What should I use?

Force front row to play video on 16:9 aspect ratio

Hello, I would like to know if there is a way to force front row to play a 3:4 video in 16:9 aspect ratio.
As you can imagine, I have a 16:9 TV and I would like to see it, better in 16:9.
This can be done very well by Quicktime, I don't know why it seems not to be possible to do on Front Row.

No, Front Row just plays them as they are flagged.
Even if you could, the video would be stretched and people would be short and fat!

You put them in your itunes library and sync them.

Ipod Classic aspect ratio?

I just got my Ipod Classic last night and was adding some movies to it but some of them couldn't be added, so I converted most of them (which im still doing) and put the ones done on my Ipod, but when I go and watch them, the sides of the movie are cut off, even the ones that I didn't have to convert are cut off as well... is there anyway to fix the aspect ratio on the Ipod or make it widescreen because this makes the movies completely unwatchable.

On your iPod head to Videos > Settings and adjust the Fit to Screen option. Any luck there?

Video app crashing & Can't load videos to Ipod Touch 5.1.1

My video app on my IPod touch (4th Gen 64GB) with 5.1.1 keeps on crashing. I read that this is not an uncommon problem. I click on the video app and a white screen shows up for a second, then the app crashes and reverts back to the home screen. This is the only app that is not working.
I have tried the following so far:
Reboot by using the red slider button
Reboot by holding the home and off button for 10sec. Apple logo appears and it reboots
Shut down the video app after double clicking the home button and deleting the open apps
I even did a complete "Reset all Setting" and then used my ITunes back up to load all the data back on.
I tried to delete all movies on ITunes and load a new one. - won't show up when I search for the video on the IPod
I tired to down load a movie from ICloud - won't show up when I search for the video on the IPod after the download
In ITunes the videos that I try to load to the IPod show up on the right menu bar under movies, but they are grayed out.
The one thing I have not tried for obvious reason is the complete wipe and start from scratch by doing the reset from ITunes and loading all apps and setting to the IPod all over again. I was hoping to avoid that pain...
Now, I don't use the Video app much, and could potential wait for OS 6 that is supposed to come out in the fall. That might load a new video app. Unfortunately, I can't delete the video app as it is part of the original set up.
Any tips? What will I lose with a compete wipe and how long will that take?

I tried the restore from backup and it did not work. I think I'll just wait until iOS6 and watch movies on my IPad. Don't want to do the factory restore if possible.

Component to Composite Video for Ipod touch

I have a 8gb ipod touch and i have the composite cables for my old ipod so i can watch videos on my tv. I've read that the touch needs the new composite cables and i don't have a hdtv to support that. Is there any converter i can buy to make this work or will i need to invest in a hdtv.

No video through ipod touch remote app?

i've connected my ipod touch to my tv using apple-branded dock and tv cables. for media stored on the touch, i can listen to music and watch video on the tv. when i connect in using remote to my mac mini (i am able to negotiate the 4digit pin so it is connecting), i can listen to my mini's music. when i try to access video, i can hear the audio (i think) but cannot see the video. the problem seems to be isolated to the video playback. this same video plays back on the itunes on my mini so i know that the video is good. the mini is current with all patches via "software update".
any ideas? is it something simple i missed?

The video would be playing back on your Mac mini. Apple Remote is just a remote control, not a media streaming program.
(There are streamers available that specialize in iPhone/iPod touch though, such as DOT.TUNES for example).

Wifi gets disconnected after sometime while watching youtube on iPod Touch.

When I'm watching video on youtube, the wifi network suddenly gets disconnected after some time.
Even when I goto settings->wifi, I'm unable to find the wifi network.
However, at the same time I can find the wifi network and am able to browse internet on my laptop and mobile phone. I get the wifi network back, on when I switch off wifi and switch it after some 2mins of time.

- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Does it happen with other networks?
- Next would be to restore the iPod.

Video for iPod Touch

Can someone help me with the formula for exporting video (using the mjedia encoder) for an ipod touch? I've tried a bunch of stuff and the furthest I've got is audio but no video. Howcome I'm not not seeing the video?

QTConversion settings for export of HD video to iPod Touch

Captured using Canon HV30.
Sequence properties show 1440x1080. Anamorphic is NOT checked.
Export to a regular QT Movie and it plays with the correct aspect ration in QT player.
However, export using QTConversion to the iPhone setting (same screen size as iPod touch) and it's in 4:3 "stretched" mode. This happens when I play it back in QT player AND on iPod touch.
What settings do I need to use in QT Conversion to get HD 1440x1080 to export with correct aspect ratio in iPod Touch / iPhone?

OK, I settled on 480x272 and the aspect ratio looks good now.

Delete video from iPod touch

So i was experimenting with the iPod touch and I noticed you can delete videos directly from the iPod.
1) Access Videos
2) swipe finger from left to right across the name of a single video (groups wont work)
3) Delete Command Will appear in red
My question is if I press delete does it just delete from the iPod or will it also delete the video from iTunes then next time i sync my iPod touch?

Yes but this is useful if your iPod is full and you want to buy some music.
You delete a video to make room, download the music.
When you connect to iTunes it syncs the music from the iPod to iTunes and reloads the video, which you can prevent reloading if you want to by changing the sync settings.

How to delete videos from iPod Touch 3 generation

I have the ipod touch 3 generation but the screen does not work. So... i want to delete videos and pictures from it but i dont know how. I go to itunes and i try from the "photos" tab but the little bar at the bottom shows that all the pictures are still in the ipod. How can i delete them 100%? i want to make sure that all the pictures AND videos are deleted.

No audio when playing YOUTUBE videos on ipod touch via a docking station

Hi there, when my ipod touch is docked on its docking station, it will not play audio on youtube videos, it will play the video but not the audio through the docking station speaker. It used to play audio without problems before, but recently it has stopped. When i take the ipod touch off the docking station the audio on the youtube video returns. any ideas why this has happened? it plays the youtube audio through the head phones too, i can play all other audio through the docking station speakers with out a problem.

There are no setting to change on the iPod.
Have you updated either the firmware on the car or on the iPod since they last played in the car?
This may work:
