Waveform graph displayed vertically on front panel

Hello everybody
I would like to know if it is possible to display waveform graphs vertically on front panel and if enventually could someone tell me how to do it.
Thanks vey much for help.

You'll have to use an XY graph, and do some programming. You could use the attached vi that simulates a vertical chart as source of inspiration.

  • How can I rotate waveform graphs or charts on front panel?

I'd like to have my power spectrum graph displayed vertically on front panel. Any idea how to do it?
    Thanks for helps.

THree quick ideas come to mind.
    1) Use XY graph and transpose X and Y.
    2) Use Picture control version of XY chart and hack away (these are included as example under chart and graphs)
    3) Graph to a "off-screen" indicator and periodicly use an invoke node to grab the image. There is an example on this web-site that will let you rotate an image and display it in a picture control.

  • Working with dynamic scales in waveform graph - display problem

    Hello
I want to use the same waveform graph in the frontpanel for different measurements. These measurements contains 1 to 8 curves, some of them I need to autoscale and others I want to use fixed scales. I wrote a method containing these functions and the functional behaviour is how I expected. But when it runs several times, LabView cannot correctly manage the graph display. Some scales are behind the graph or two scales are at the same position.
Perhaps you have a look at my example VI (LV 7.1), I generate a random Waveform and want to display a random number of curves and some of them in fixed, and some in autorange. The more I run the VI, the more the waveform graph display gets wrong. Does anybody know a solution?
Thank you very much for answering!

    hi there
Ben, thanks for the link. Christian's suggestion is right and describes a similar problem.
I solved the problem now on an other way. Each time before I change the visability of the scales I reset all settings to the default (startup) values by property nodes (YScale.Maximum, YScale.Minimum, All Visible...). Then I make the scales which I don't need unvisible, link the graphs to the prefered scales and set the Min/Max or autoscale.
Important: I got 4 scales on each side. When I want to use eg 2 scales on the left, I need to make visible scale number 1 and 2. Scales 3 and 4 can then be set to unvisible (in other words in an incrementing order).
Makeing scales visible and unvisible is a little bit nervous on the screen. So, during that process I bring a picture of the last waveform on the top of my screen and change to the graph view when all settings are done.
Now I got a really great waveform viewer with the possibility, scaling some graphs by autoscale, others by fixed scales, using up to 8 scales selectable on the left/right side, user definied colors, names and units.
Thank you all for taking part of my problem.

  • How do i display my labview front panel on a web-page and update it say eyery 5 seconds, I think i need Lookout?

My front panel display updates every 20secs. I want to be able to view the Labview front panel on a web-page which updates itself continuously. Will Lookout do this?

LabVIEW will do this with it's built in web server. Full control of a LabVIEW front panel is possilbe with version 6.1. Older versions have the ability to publish a panel with no control. What version do you have? Lookout is a completely different software package for HMI/SCADA applications and has no relationship to LabVIEW except that they're sold by the same company.

currently i m working on FPGA project.i want to aquired data from FPGA board.i want to know about how to store character to file and contineous display each character on front panel in string format.
i have complete up to character display on front panel but only single character display when i want all character in string format.

I don't see how this question is at all related to Digital I/O but it sounds like you just need a shift register with the concantanate string function.

  • Can I make waveform graph display more than the currently read samples?

I have DAQ reading in 17 channels at a rate of 500 samples/second and then writing to a TDMS file, to some guages, and to a waveform graph.  I would like for the waveform graph to display more than the samples that are currently being read, I'd like for it to display the last ten seconds worth of samples.  How can I accomplish this?
I've attached a picture of the relevant section of my VI. If you need anymore information about the VI just let me know.
    Thanks!

If you want to use graph only then try with the vi attached in which shift regs are used to store the previous data... I think you can use this and optimise further accordingly..

  • Is it possible to display in a front panel indicator the units name (for instance, N "Newtons" or ºC) from a virtual channel that you previously defined using MAX?

If possible, how can I do it?
Thanks in advance With LabVIEW 6 it is clear that we can display the DAQ channel name of previously defined virtual channels, so it seems to be possible that we would be able to access to other information defined in MAX as channel units name...
    Thanks

    Yes it is possible.
    Locate the LLB:
    LV folder\vi.lib\daq\dqchnutl.llb
There you find useful vis to handle virtual channel.
The Get DAQ ChannelNames.vi return also the channel units

  • How to copy the XY graph on labview front panel and insert into Excel using labview

    Hi,
I refer to insert it into excel since report is in excel format, but if it's too hard to do so I can save it in another format.
Either way, will labview support this? Anyway, thank you very much for your quick reply.

You are already using the Report Generation Toolkit?  There is the "Append Control Image to Report.vi" that would make this easy.

  • Display a particular array element on the front panel

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to change which element of an array control is displayed on the front panel from within the program.
Here's why I want to do it: I have an array of clusters, each of which contains a set of controls.  The controls in each cluster specify a bunch of different parameters for a few different instruments that are being controlled by Labview.  The user changes all the values on the front panel before the program starts, then the program steps through the array elements one by one.  I'd like to be able to change the array's display so that the user can know which set of parameters is active (and thus what is currently in force) while the program is going -- otherwise the element that is displayed is just wherever the user left it last.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Connecting extra monitor to DVI-I connection EVS 1464 (displaying Front Panel)

    Hi,
Currently developing a Vision system using the following:
    LabVIEW 2010 SP1
    LabVIEW 2010 Real-Time SP1
    Vision Development 2010 SP1
    EVS 1464
    My question is:
How can I display my front panel, running on the EVS, on a monitor connected to the DVI-I output of the EVS 1464?
    Thanks ahead!
    Roy
    Solved!

Hi Roy, I'm not sure if Hossein actually read that KB or not, but it deals with displaying the front panel over the network on a Windows machine, not out through the monitor connection on the EVS running LabVIEW RT.
To answer your original question, no, it is not possible to view the standard LabVIEW front panel on the RT system today. All the code for displaying all the front panel UI buttons, controls, and indicators is simply not present in LabVIEW Real-Time and is only viewable on a seperate machine that is either running the development environment or using a web browser that has the LabVIEW plugin installed.
Having a UI display on RT is certainly a requested feature and perhaps it might be available some day. You might want to check this request: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Real-Time-Idea-Exchange/Real-time-display/idi-p/1391108 . It has some good ideas for what other alternatives exist today as well.
However, this is one way to use the monitor output on the EVS and other LabVIEW RT systems. Vision Development Module includes RT Video Out VIs that can display any image on the connected monitor. You can either display images captured from cameras or custom images, as well as overlay text and simple graphic objects (lines, circles, rectangles, etc). It is certainly more effort than the normal front-panel editor in LabVIEW but it might be suitable for your needs if you want a few things to display. Of course you will have no mouse/keyboard so you cannot interact with any on-screen elements directly.

  • Waveform Graphs in Seperate Window

    Hey all,
So, I have waveform data displayed in waveform charts on my labview front panel, but my boss said that he thought it would be cool if we could have each one in a seperate window, with the capability it play around with it a little.  I can do this in Excel after the measurement period is over, but I was wondering if there is anyway to do this during the measurement period.  We have measurement periods of about a day, so it would be good to see a longer term trend while the measuring period is still in progress.
    Thank you.

This sort of functionality is relatively easy to implement in LabVIEW.  If you happen to have NI-SCOPE installed, check out the file import dialog of the NI-SCOPE Soft Front Panel (written in LabVIEW).  It does almost exactly what you are describing, using the file for a data source.  For some examples of data architectures to allow you to do this, check out the memory store and browse examples in Managing Large Data Sets in LabVIEW.  Either of the architectures work just as well for a separate window as they do for the main front panel.

  • Show LabVIEW VI Front Panel When Sequence Step Called

    Hello,
By clicking on the “Show VI Front Panel When Called” checkbox in the Step Settings pane displays the LabVIEW VI Front Panel for approximately 100 milliseconds. Is there a configuration way to display the VI front panel for a longer period of time, during that step execution, and allow the user to control the duration of the front panel exposure by clicking to resume execution of the sequence file at their will?
    Thank you.
    Solved!

    Hi,
You will need to have some sort of structure in your VI for handling front panel response, otherwise you front panel is only going to be visible for as long as it takes to execute an return back to teststand.
But remember, once you hold your step within that VI which is waiting on the operator to eventual close it, your Sequence will be held as well and if you are expecting steps to continue running after your VI then you will have to consider running it in parallel to your main test sequence.
You may also need to consider what happens if you want to terminate your Test Sequence, how do you close your VI.
Check out 'Strategies for Terminating or Breaking Sequences' in the following.
    hope this is of help

  • How do I input data to a table on the front panel and stop the program immediately as button is pressed?

What should I do if I want to display on the front panel in real time the values from Polarizer #, P1, P2 and the last calculated value (P2/P1 * 100) called T% in a table or some graphical representation like that?  What would I have to do?  It could just be Polarizer # and T% if that would be simpler.  I just want to let the user know the values in a list, spreadsheet or table as they go.  One last thing is that I would like to be able to stop the program at any point in time as soon as the stop button is pressed.  As of now, when the button is pressed it goes through the iteration currently in progress and then one afterwards.  I want the program to end as soon as the stop button is pressed no matter what sequence it is.  What can I do to achieve this?  Could you give me an example or modify my program to show me this.
    Thanks,

Put a single frame sequence structure around your stop button and then wire from the error cluster going into the error handler to the edge of the sequence structure. Now your code will stop at the end of the current iteration. To see why this works, watch you code execute with execution highlighting turned on and review the section of the manual talking about "Dataflow".

  • Maximum Character size of Front Panel indicator in LabVIEW

    Hi,
I have a simple question that I hope somebody can answer.  Is there a maximum character size that can be displayed in a Front Panel indicator in LabVIEW?  If so, what is it?  I have a VI that is continuously reading a serial port and updating a front panel indicator, and I need to know how much text can be displayed before it either truncates or throws an error.  This is for LabVIEW 2010 SP1.
    Thank you,
    J Korn

A quick Flatten to string shows how LabVIEW stores strings {size-data} Size is a U32 so 4294967295 characters max.
The big thing to remember is this memory must be contiguous (and the Indicator requires a COPY) so in practice the performance hit for constantly allocating larger and larger buffers for the data and available memory impose practical limits much lower than the 4294967295 Char maximum.  Probably better to log the data to a file and maintain only the last x characters on the indicator and use the file to look a history data
