Way to copy settings between track groups?

Hi, Is there a way to copy the settings or attributes from one track group to another? In other words, I'd like to create a new group in the Group Settings window and then copy the settings from an existing group to the new one. Thanks!

Different ways to copy data between two schemas in one instance

Hi there,
I am searching a good way to copy data between two schemas in the same instance.
Both schemas have an identical structure such as triggers, tables, views and so on. The only difference is the purpose: one is the productivity system and one is for development.
I looked at datapump but I do not explicit want to export / import. I want to keep the data in the productivity schema as well as copy it to the other schema. Any ideas? I found out there is a copy statement but I dont't know how that works.

I also thought of creating a second instance for development and move the dev - schema to it. I just don't know whether our server can handle both (performance?). Anyway the idea is to have a possibility to quickly rebuild the data inside a schema without indixes or triggers, just pure data. I thought the easiest way would be to copy the data between the schemas as they are exactly the same. However if you tell me DataPunp is the best solution i won't deny using it :).
When you export data a file is created. does that also mean that the exported data is deleted inside the schema?

It is something of a hidden feature, mentioned somewhere in the obscure depths of the manual. p. 594, the "tip".
Open the *Automation Event list* by hitting ctrl-⌥-E. Then open another Arrange window, ⌘-1. This second arrange window will contain regions that only hold automation. Those you can copy and move around without affecting Midi or audio placement.

Server 10.5 crashed -- any way to copy settings/preferences from old HD?

My 10.5 Server PowerMac died. Tried a manual 'archive and install' by moving system files to "Previous" folder using Terminal, installing on top, but that didn't work. I still have an image of the old HD -- is there any way to copy the relevant system or preference files to the new installation to get this Server back online?
Any help or tips appreciated!

if u r goin to format ur hdd u hav 2 backup 2 things......
one is ur mail folder(user/library/mail) and com.apple.mail.plist(user/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist)
make a copy of these files and then no worries - all ur mails and mail settings will be safe. after formatting u dont have to reconfigure ur mail, just copy and paste mail.plist to preferences folder (replace it) and if all mails are not showing up import ur mail folder.
saving network plist wont help......

What's best way to copy/ paste between instruments in Score Editor?

Hi - I used the rubber band to select a bar which I wanted to move to another instrument. I then used Cmd+C, and Cmd+V.
I tried 1) clicking in the new bar but it pasted to the beginning of the track and 2) also set locators but it didn't paste accurately.
Can someone tell me the accurate way, please ?

If you are copying a track to the same measure (copy guitar track measure 9 - 16 to piano track measure 9 -16). Click on guitar track so that it turns blue, Highlight the notes you want, then select piano track, click on it make sure it is now blue.. use 'paste at original position' from the edit menu.
to copy to a different location - highlite some notes from gtr track - make sure they are blinking -, then put cursor on top of first note you want to move, and click hold mouse, you will see a 'drag box' come up. It will show you the exact location, of that note. (measure 3 1 2 121).Then select and highlite the track you want to move to - paste it, and then drag the highlited note to the correct position.
Sometimes I find it easier to copy and paste from the piano roll page.. Open a score and piano roll editor, You can still high lite in score, but then more to piano roll and paste and drag..
I have had problems with pasting in score page, the way you described too, not sure if it's a bug,or I am not understanding everything.

Copy data between 2 localisations

My client is using Sap business one 2007A. he has a database with localization "Spain". he created another database with UK localization. he needs to copy the accounting entries from the first to the other one. copy express doesnt allow to copy data between 2 localization (only settings). is there any way to copy data between 2 localizations

You may export accounting entries from the first db and DTW to the second one.

Copy Files Between Two Unix Computers

Hi,
I am trying to write a piece of code that will copy bunch of files from one Unix computer on to another Unix computer. On windows it seems to be pretty straight but on Unix I am trying to understand best way of copying the files. I don't have much expertise in Unix.
Is using FTP the only option for Unix?
I am not able to create a FILE object by referring to a file on some other Unix box? I tried new File("//unixbox2/temp/123.txt");
Please let me know the different ways to copy files between Unix computers.

Copy Settings to multiple images - STILL A NOT WORKING AFTER MANY VERSIONS!

I have reported the problem of pasting settings to multiple images for many versions and this simple bug is STILL present in LR4!
In develop module, make changes to an image, click Copy button, select settings to copy.
Now, select a range or a number of images to which you want to paste the settings, click Paste button. Guess what? Only the first image gets the settings!
This functionality should work and is even documented in the manual. There are other ways of copying settings but I can never remember how to do this.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a genuine bug that only seems to affect a few people (I did a web search for V3), or do people just not use this function?
Please developers, fix this bug if it really is a bug!

I guess I am just frustrated that the program does not work the way it is documented. There are two very prominent buttons, Copy & Paste and they don't work as documented or as you would expect them to.
With sync you have to navigate menus to do what one click of the mouse should accomplish. All I want is some acknowledgement from Adobe that this is a bug and for it to be adressed. As a long-time IT person I know this would be VERY easy to fix. If it cannot be fixed then update the documentation.
Oh well, enough said. I still love LR!!!

Copy appsets between servers

Hi guys,
I will shortly have to copy an appset between two servers, and the data also.
Please could someone give me a definitive list (Warning: newbie alert!) of what exactly I need to move?
I know I need to backup the appset using Server Manager from the original machine, and Restore it using Server Manager on the new machine, but what if the drive mappings are different between my old (dev) server and my new (live) one?
Presumably, I can backup, move and restore my database too? Or is it not that easy??
Like I said, this is new to me, so I just want to make 100% I don't forget anything!

It's only way to copy appset between server using Server Manager. You right to backup Appset from original machine and restore in new machine. If you restore Appset using Server Manager, SAP BPC will automaticlly restore files, database, and OLAP. I've tried to restore Appset in new machine which the drive mapping is different from original machine and I never get something error.

Live recordings and the click between tracks

Dear users,
I'm a very fresh user and i wanted to know if there is a way around the stops between tracks on live recordings.
I realy don't like the sound of that everytime a new number comes along.
I have done it by way of ripping and using itunes....they all have the same result between the tracks.
Somebody told me that i should learn to live with it?
Every tip is welcome!

I know that i'm not the worlds best pc user...but i have done everything what i could think of.
Put a cd in > open itunes > and wait for the things to come.
Then i have the option to import the cd witch i do.
Before and during this i can not use this button...it stay's grey....also when i import a file from my folders its the same story...this button wont work.
I updated the itunes....and still the same.
Buttons i can not use under the " Advanced " tab:
Convert
Get cd track names
Submit cd track names
Join cd tracks
Convert ID3 tags
I have worked by the notes you've given me....and still no result.
I'm sory that i can not see/solve this problem the way that somebody else will see and solve it.
At my side the button stay's grey....

Easiest Way to Share Files Between Users? -- Public, Shared, Drop Box.. .

We have five family members (and so five user accounts) using our Mac. What is the easiest way to copy files between / share files with / ... files from one user to the other?
Shared ... Public ... Drop Box ...
I do this so infrequently that I forget -- or have never figure it out properly.
Any advice would be great.

The Shared folder is fine, but anything a user puts there will be read-only to all other users. If other users want to be able to edit such a file they can make a copy of it and edit the copy. If you want all users to be able to edit one of your files without them having to make a copy of it first, you must change the file permissions to allow that.
There are a few ways to have new files automatically set so that others can write to them. Storing such files on an external hard drive on which file/folder ownership is set to be ignored is one way. You can also use ACLs - see this page for an example.

what is the best way to transfer settings between cf 9 standard servers?

I've never encountered this problem, I'm not using CF9 or SQL 20008; but here are some things to investigate.
1. Are there any differences in the way your datasources are configured in CF between the two servers. For example, do you have the "Maintain Connections" option enabled on one server's datasource, but not the other?
2. You might try using an alternate JDBC driver to see if this issue is caused by the drivers. Microsoft produces as JDBC driver for SQL server and I think there may be open source options.

Thanks for answering Chris. You clearly have much more experience than I do in these matters, and I don't mean to challenge... but that's not been my experience. If I choose shuffle for a list of all songs and listen continuously for many hours, I really do (and will) hear repeats.

Permissions problem copying files between two Macs

I've run into a strange problem when trying to copy files between two networked Macs. Some background facts: We have two Macs at home each with three accounts. Two of the accounts are regular user accounts (my wife's and mine, call them "K" and "B" for short) and the third is an administrator account (we'll call it "A"). I have a .Mac account, which I use to sync between the two Macs. The other accounts do not. The user accounts B & K were initially set up on the second Mac via the Migration Assistant, copying over files and settings. The administrator account was not.
The problem I've run into is that if I am logged in as either user B or K on the local Mac, connect to the remote Mac as the corresponding user, and try to copy files into a folder owned by that same user on the remote Mac, I get a series of three dialog boxes with error messages:
1) "You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named ..." (stop/continue)
2) "The item ... contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?" (stop/continue)
3) "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
If I go all the way through this hitting continue / OK on each, what shows up on the remote computer at the end is an empty file with the name and filetype of the local file that I was trying to copy, but of zero length.
This only happens when I'm copying from (local.B -> remote.B) or (local.K -> remote.K). It does not happen if I try any of the other pairwise combinations (assuming that I've authenticated properly): (local.B -> remote.K or remote.A), (local.K -> remote.B or remote.A), (local.A -> remote.B, remote.K or remote.A). It happens regardless of which Mac is local and which is remote.
I'm a little baffled. I've tried to search for this on Apple Discussions and other forums, but either haven't been using the right keywords or am coming up blank.
Anyone have any suggestions?

borbye is correct that this will remedy the problem but there is a way to do it and have your account work. after changing the user UID and group UID to 501 you will have to restart. then when you log on your home folder will still be your default but you will not have any access. Since you are still an admin you can change that. right click on the home folder and select get info click arrow for sharing and permissions. Your old UID account will show up as _unknown delete this user and add your user to it giving yourself read and write privilege. click on the cog on the bottom and select apply to enclosed items. A warning box will appear stating that this process cannot be undone do you wish to proceed? click yes and a status bar will come up. once the bar is gone the process is complete. since you didn't have access to your home folder you cannot save your settings, this is a good thing since your account will not look remotely the same as yours most likely. all you have to do now is logout and then back in. Your account will look as it did before the change with all the access settings and so forth as before the change... minus some permissions due to the overwrite. It's a minor repair to the permissions to some shares considering you will be able to now move files to and these shares without the permissions alert that only creates a 4kb file instead of the real thing. Takes 5 minutes at most. Have fun.
