Way to get serial number of stolen iPod?

Not sure where to ask this but, my 60GB Video iPod was stolen out of my car a few months ago. The Deputy that responded just called me after busting a group of kids and recovering tons of iPods and other stuff but I need to find the serial number of the iPod.
Is there a way I can lookup which iPod's I've registered and used with iTunes? Or can Apple tell me?

1) If it's been less than a year you can call or go to the Apple Store where you bought your iPod and they can pull the serial number of the unit(s) purchase using the credit card number at the register.
OR
2)Talking to a helpful person at the online Apple Store I was able to even obtain the serial number for the 3rd Gen iPod I bought in 2003 linked to my phone number since I had called tech support once when I first bought it.
Important: If you get an unhelpful person just hang up and call back. The right Apple rep will look through the different systems and help you. Your serial number can be linked to some other info and they can get it for you.
