Ways to get combo boxes, etc. on MIDP devices

I'm writing a MIDlet that I want to be very device-independent. So I'm trying to stick solely to the J2ME rudimentary interface classes.
However, I really need to have combobox and listbox functionality. Nextel and others have libraries you can use for this, but then I'm not device-independent.
Any thoughts, is anyone else wresting with this design issue?
Are there combo and listbox classes that are made using the std J2ME portable foundation?

I found an API on the web but don't remember which one - it is not free, though - but it uses the low-level API of MIDP to create those buttons and boxes.

Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.

Have you been syncing the iPod with iTunes? Then you just connect the iPad and set it up through iTunes and sync any content you want onto it.

In terms of games/apps. If they are not universal (you will see a + symbol next to them) or made for iPad (you would see an HD in the name, usually) then they won't look good on an iPad as those apps will open in a iPod sized window, giving you the option to enlarge.

iCloud should not cause duplicate entries in Calendars unless you are syncing using iTunes as well as Wi-Fi. No need for both.

Get combo box display name

I have <h:selectOneMenu on my application is there a way to get the display name out of the combo box

The option label you mean? No, those aren't sent as request parameters. Only the currently selected option value will be. But why would you ever need to get it as request parameter? Usually you already know the value-label pairs in the server side. Just have some Map<ValueType, LabelType> in the backing bean, display it as dropdown list using f:selectItems and in the action method you can just get the label by selected value. Whyever you need the label for.
That said, a "combo box" is a technically wrong term in this case. It's actually a "dropdown list". A combo box is a manually editable dropdown list. The h:selectOneMenu isn't, it's a fixed dropdown list.

Best way to detect memory usage etc. on mobile device for debugging?

What's the best way, when developing, to detect memory usage and such while the app is running on the device?
So you can test it and see if something is causing it to run wild. I'm making an iOS/Android device so I want to try it on both slow and fast phones and I have a script that "adds on" memory usage as the user continues. I would like to monitor this (either in app, or from the debugger) to see what happens.
Any ideas?

Padding on combo box

I am trying to increase the top and bottom spacing on button and combo box type components using CSS, assuming that the same font and font size is used then I would like the components to all be the same height. However, I have run into a couple of difficulties.
Firstly, I can't find a way to pad combo box and choice components. The following CSS will size the combo box correctly but push down the selected cell text.

-fx-padding: 6 6 6 6;
Padding around the arrow button doesn't seem to work either. Secondly, adding a graphic node to a button or menu button increases it's size by 2 pixels. Am I missing a property somewhere?

I am trying to set the height as part of the skin so no extra changes are needed. Some controls allow it but combo box doesn't seem to, wondering if the other controls allow it by coincident but this isn't the intention for CSS.

Push Button , Label and combo box

Hi Experts,
Currently facing a problem , please guide.
I have two push buttons say A and B and one combo box.
I am using Combo box with source data as filtered row options.
What I want to accomplish is when push button A is clicked then my combo box should have different souce of data say sheet 1 in excel and when Push button B is clicked then the same combo box should have source data from sheet 2 from the same excel.
I mean dynamic selection of source data and then destination data by using combo boxed.
is it possible ?

Use 2 combo boxs CB1 n CB 2.
CB1 : source form sheet1
CB2:Source from sheet 2
when push button A is selected set dynamic visibility such that u get combo box 1
when push button B is selected set dynamic visibility such that u get combo box 2.
Case 2:
Insted of using 2 push buttons you can use a radio butoon and select the lables A or B so that these two combo box components dnt appear at once
Take a radio button component and map lables as A and B
under behaviour tab: >Insert selected item:>mapp it with a blank cell say Sheet3!$G$4
if radio button selection is A then set dynamic visibility such that u get combo box 1
if radio button selection is b then set dynamic visibility such that u get combo box 2
formula cells:
take a blak cell say Sheet3!$H$7 and write formula =IF(Sheet3!$G$4="A","",first label of combo box 2)
take a blak cell say Sheet3!$H$8 and write formula =IF(Sheet3!$G$4="B","",first label of combo box 1)
Combo box 1 :Behaviour tab-->Selected item :Sheet3!$H$7
Combo box 1 :Behaviour tab-->Selected item :Sheet3!$H$8

VBA Userforms – Getting errors when item from combo box is not selected

Thank you in advance for taking the time to check this out.
Objective:
I have 2 combo boxes, one is dependent on what has been selected in the first combo box (dynamic named range), they work fine except for an irritating error when the user accidentally clicks in the empty
Cmbox_IncCategory and it won’t allow the user to go back to the
cmbx_Category_Type box if the user forgot he had to make a selection from that first before selecting the
Cmbox_IncCategory.
The error that pops up is “Invalid property value”.
I tried having text in there to say “please select from Cmbox_IncCategory first, but that didn’t fix it.
I tried to ‘If error resume next’ but that didn’t like it either. Now I am stumped.
Main combo box= cmbx_Category_Type
2nd combo box (displaying a list dependent on what was selected in Main combo box)= Cmbox_IncCategory
I know there must be a way to fix it so that if a user clicks on the combo box, but doesn’t make a selection it won’t lock up the form.
Yes, it is a mandatory field, and I was considering using a message box to advise the user that this must be completed, but I am not sure how to do it (and avoid the errors

Both combo boxes are blank to start with (because nothing has been selected). If I click on the first combo box (cmbx_Category_Type) which lists the main events/category types, but I don't select any thing, and I click in the secondary box
(Cmbox_IncCategory) and then click on any other control, I get an “Invalid property value” error. When I click OK on the error (a few times) and I return to the code window, it gives no indication where/what is breaking
the code/causing the error. I have no choice but to exit the form by stopping in the code window.
If I click on the first textbox, (cmbx_Category_Type), and then do the right thing and make a selection, then I have no problems with the secondary textbox (Cmbox_IncCategory).
As I am not that up on VBA I am trying to follow your instructions... I have changed the code as follows, removed and replaced the rowsource name, but I encounter the very same problem.
When I changed my code from Me.Cmbox_IncCategory="" to yours myCombo.ListIndex = -1 (changing the combo box name to reflect my combo box name) and adding the second line of code ...
Me.Cmbox_IncCategory.ListIndex = 0 I still got the same behaviour and error.
I even tried moving each row of the named rows down one row (so that there would be a 'blank' row which could be selected to get out of trouble, but it wasn't very successful either.
Have you opened my form to see what happens, I included the link so whoever was looking at my problem (and yes, I have many I know), could see for themselves what it is doing/not doing.

How to get values in the combo box in a XML form?

Hi All,
    1. I have created a property which has "Default value" as "Clothings" and "Allowed Values(csv)" as Real Estate - Sales , Clothings etc" by navigating to KM > CM > Global Services > Property Metadata > Properties.
   2. In the XML form builder when I drag this property I get a combo box for this property.
   3. But when I preview this by going to Content Management > Folder > New > FORMS > and select my XML form project I get a preview but it is not showing me the default values in the combo boxes which I created using the property in XML form builder.
Please Suggest me as to how to get those values (which I mentioned in property) in the combo box ?

1.In Xml Form Builder when you drag a property which has some 3-4 assigned values so you are recomended to use a combo box.
2.But the problem after using COMBOBOX is I am not getting these values in the preview of the combo box.

Getting Dates using combo boxes

I am trying to get a start date and an end date from a combo
box. I have the following AS3 code but it doesn't work. startDay,
startMonth etc are all comboboxes with appropriate data. Just can't
figure the syntax to make it work.

There are two of those controls: the drop down list and the combo box. Try the drop down list instead.

Trying to get export value from combo box

Using the "Custom Keystroke Script" for a combo box:
// This works but gives the current face value

What I need is the clicked items' current export value as soon as it is clicked.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry about that. I posted the question and then realized I should have just used the same thread.
Any way, I tried your code and it does not show the current export value. It shows the previously selected value.
Example:
When I click item 2 it shows item 0
Then I click item 4 and it shows item 2
Then I click item 7 and it shows item 4.. etc.. (see the pattern)
What I need is the value from the item I'm currently clicking on.
If I click item 2, I expect to see item 2. etc..
