    I don't think WebAnalysis has a usage tracking. Or I might have overlooked at it.
    Did you tried looking at the WebAnalysis logs after using even tracking (I know that you have it already on for FR )

  • OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6) usage tracking migration

    Hi Team,
    I am facing issue in setting up the usage tracking in 11g (11.1.1.6).
    All the tables and views are available in DEV_BIPLATFORM schema. Migration of the the RPD and the Catalog (available under 'sample' folder) is failing.
    Error: Wrong Password.
    I have used the default password of Usage Tracking rpd (Admin123 as well as Administrator) during migration. Even though the migration fails.
    Is there any bug associated with this as i have also tried to open the RPD with 10g (10.1.3.4) and also with 11g (11.1.1.6). In both case, they failed to open.
    Error in 10g:
    [nQSError: 36010] Server version 184 cannot read the newer version 266 of the repository.
    Error in 11g:
    [nQSError: 36015] Please run the upgrade utility obieerpdmigrateutil to upgrade the repository.

    This is a bug.
    Raised SR with Oracle to resolve it. Oracle has provided a new RPD.

  • Usage Tracking - Access problem when Authentication Mode = Windows

    Hi Everyone,
    I´m working on UPK Usage Tracking configuration, in order to provide the finished training material.
    1) In Server01 (on Window Server 2003) the UPK Usage Tracking is installed
    2) In Server02 (also on Windows Server 2003) the Usage Tracking database is installed
    3) By accessing the configuration file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/configuration/setup.aspx) on Server01,I setup the Authentication Mode = Forms
    Note: The rest of the configurations were done.
    4) Once the configuration from step 3 is done, I execute the traning material (on Server01) from another node of the windows network
    and as a result I´m able to perform it.
    5) I access the Statistc data on Server01 by accessing the file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/admin/default.aspx)and I´m also able to see the results.
    6) When I execute the step 3 but with Authentication Mode = Windows, and including the GROUP name (windows group specially created for this goal where my user is included),
    - I still have access to the training material (step 4)
    - I have NO aceess to the statistics data any more (step 5) and the following message is display
    "You do not have permission to access this page. Please contact your Usage Tracking Server Administrator to update your permissions. "
    I don´t know what else I can do, and I wonder if some other configurations need to be done at windows network and/or explorer lever or any other.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    This problem was solved by reconfiguring Usage Tracking in the authentication method (was anonymous and the solution was Windows integrated).
    It is important to count on people from your organization working on Networks with some knowledge in IIS.

    I did some digging and I found a few things out.
    Point 1) The OBIEE .dll files are what build up the HTML files based on their code and some "customizable" code in the XML files located in the messages folder of OBIEE (C:\OracleBI\web\msgdb\messages). I say "customizable" with quotes because although these files are editable, it is not supported by Oracle and any upgrade will overwrite your changes. That being said, we cannot change the code in the dll files, so our only other option is to play with the XML files and see if we can inject our script somewhere in their code.
    Point 2) The absolute last message from an XML file is the message that wrote the div with id="idSelsPermissionsDlgDiv". I had to do some grep'ing but I located the file which generated the final DIV. It is the commonuitemplates.xml file line 161. The bad thing is that the particular WebMessage is called multiple times ( I think three times based on my tests) in the building of the HTML. So if you put the code here, it would show up three different times in your HTML. Not ideal :(
    Point 3) The dashboardtemplates.xml document, line 410 is executed about four lines before the final body tag. This WebMessage is only executed once, so it is the closest you can get to the bottom of the page without having a duplicate entry. I recommend you paste the code from google right before the final html tag on line 410.

    Hello,
    I'm looking for a better way than Administration/ Manage Sessions to keep an eye on long-running queries.
    Is there a way to get OBI to place information about currently running (started but not ended) queries into usage tracking so that I can see long-running reports though an analysis in the Usage Tracking subject area?
    As far as I can see, I can only query completed reports/dashboards from the usage Tracking Subject area. The "status" column in the Manage Session display is not availalble in the Usage Tracking subject area and a filter on End Time = null yields no results. Any ideas/strategies welcome! Thanks.

    You could use the nqquery.log to look for queries that have started but not finished. You'd need to parse it for relevant start/finish and match up the IDs.
    There is an nqquery.log parser on MOS somewhere, that might be a good starting point.

  • Usage Tracking for BI Server Hosting Multiple Repositories

    Hi all,
    I've got my BI Server hosting two repositories:
    [ REPOSITORY ]
    DemoApp1 = DemoApp1.rpd, DEFAULT;
    DemoApp2 = DemoApp2.rpd;
    And started two Presentation Services connecting to these two repositories respectively, and two web front-ends at /analytics and /analytics2 to display the two different catalogs.
    Next, I enabled usage tracking with direct insert to the following physical table:
    PHYSICAL_TABLE_NAME = "OBIEEREP".""."OBIEEREP"."S_NQ_ACCT" ;
    CONNECTION_POOL = "OBIEEREP"."Connection Pool" ;
    Both repositories has the above physical table and connection pool defined. In DemoApp1.rpd, "OBIEEREP"."Connection Pool" points to a database OBIEEDB1, and in DemoApp2.rpd, it points to a database OBIEEDB2.
    But then the problem occurs. All usage tracking data are inserted to OBIEEDB1 only, no matter which web front-end they are from. I tried removing the "DEFAULT" from NQSConfig.ini, but this doesn't help.
    Is there any way to configure BI Server to insert usage tracking data from /analytics to OBIEEDB1, and those from /analytics2 to OBIEEDB2?

    HI Kaphenda,
    That's probably just a side-effect of having two repositories. Keep in mind that having multiple repositories and multiple presentation servers is not support by Oracle, so they were not on the hook to modify the Usage Tracking algorithm to write to two different databases. It seems to me like they either didn't anticipate this scenario, or they didn't want to program for this scenario.
    I don't think you have too many options in terms of making OBIEE insert the traffic logs into the appropriate database. However, once the data has been inserted, you can do just about anything you want to it in terms of ETL, triggers, materialized views, etc.
    Here's what I would recommend:
    1) Have the OBIEE usage tracking information logged into a neutral schema.
    2) Write a materialized view in database 1: CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW S_NQ_ACCT AS SELECT * from S_NQ_ACCT@NEUTRAL_SERVER WHERE REPOSITORY_NAME = 'DemoApp1'
    3) Write a materialized view in database 2: CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW S_NQ_ACCT AS SELECT * from S_NQ_ACCT@NEUTRAL_SERVER WHERE REPOSITORY_NAME = 'DemoApp2'
    You can specify the refresh frequency of these materialized views to be as frequent as you want. The great thing about this strategy is that you get the best of all worlds. Each database has the traffic information broken down by their personal RPD. But the neutral schema can provide Global reporting across both repositories which can be very valuable itself.

  • Usage tracking / new user growth?

    I am looking for a usage tracking type of measure to show new user growth of a production system. In the web catalog, there is a field, Date Created, that shows when each user was created in the system. Is there a way to export that field?
    I want to show, 10 total users in December 10, 20 total users in January 11, 100 total users in June 11, etc.
    Ideally, I can show that field and corresponding chart within OBIEE to show off how many new people are added to our system. At the very least, I hope to take the data and create a chart in Excel.
    Any ideas how to do this best?

    One another way of achieving this if you have enabled usage tracking, get all distinct user till that Month example in your measure get all distinct user till 2010 Dec as column1, < = 2010- Nov as second column etc...
    Query will look like as follows.

    after you got this information you can perform growth rates etc as you required. in above (tillDec- tillNov) will give you new users added during December.

    Hi. We have now installed BPC 7.5 in our test environment, but are facing a problem.
    According to the installation guide, we have installed Microsoft AntiCross Site Scripting Library 3.0 on our app/web-servers.
    But when trying to enter "Set Application Parameters" in the Web Administration tool, we get an error quite not expected:
    Any ideas of why it asks for v1.5, which were used by BPC 5.1?

    Hi Malin,
    You are having a problem with you AntiSssLibrary.dll. Either it is not installed correctly or it is corrupted or in the wrong version.
    You can take the following steps to ensure that you have a fully functional version of  the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library:                                                                               
    1) Download the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library V1.5 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=EFB9C819-53FF-4F82-BFAF-E11625130C25&displaylang=en                                                                               
    2) Uninstall the current version of Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library and remove any AntiXssLibrary.dll file from your server;                                                                               
    3) Install the version that you have downloaded from the MS website;                                                               
    4) Copy the AntiXssLibrary.dll file from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Corporation\Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library V1.5\Library\.NET 1.1\   (Make sure that you're copying from the .NET 1.1 folder, not 2.0);                                                                               
    5) Paste it under your \BPC\Websrvr\Web\bin folder and restart IIS.

  • USAGE TRACKING Error in Obiee 11.1.1.6.0

    I have configured usage tracking in our Obiee 11.1.1.6.0 version properly using enterprise manager. And, I have also created a a subject area in the repository called "Usage Tracking" where I gave all the details of "DEV_BIPLATFORM" schema in the connection pool as well. Now when I go to analysis to build a report using same subject area, I can't see any results. I checked the SQL and its quering from the right table "S_NQ_ACCT" but just can't populate the usage information. Also I checked in the database. The table is empty there too!! But It works fine for Obiee 11.1.1.5.0 version.

    Its very strange that, we configure usage tracking in obiee 11.1.1.6.0 using enterprise manager and that how all document says. And then it should automatically update the "NQSCONFIG.INI". But it was not updated there. So we need to change all configuration settings in both "Enterprise Manager" and also in the "NQSCONFIG.INI". Then it works fine!!

    And I have 2 problems :
    1) FTPburst delivery is not working, sftp is configured but still have the folowing error

    Its very strange that, we configure usage tracking in obiee 11.1.1.6.0 using enterprise manager and that how all document says. And then it should automatically update the "NQSCONFIG.INI". But it was not updated there. So we need to change all configuration settings in both "Enterprise Manager" and also in the "NQSCONFIG.INI". Then it works fine!!

    In user manual there is no instructions setuping administration password at first time. In user manual, on page 66 writed about password changing, but it works, if user is just connected.
