Web Content Viewer

Hey, just checking in. What's the status of the web version of the content viewer? As I recall, a target date of May was mentioned.

Thanks for the addtional info. Two followups, if I may. (I'm planning for a future app release right now, which this could be relevant to).
1. Is this meant to be an HTML version of the entire publication, or simply a display of a single article. (Your response implies the latter)
2. In either case, is this based on Flash or HTML5?

  • URLs to specific articles in Web Content Viewer

I'm placing the Web Content Viewer on a custom site for free viewing of all articles in the folio. Is it possible to get a URL of individual articles that be links sent to people? So if there is an email blast, can  there be a URL that will lead a reader to a certain article in that online folio? Thanks.

I'm not using V32 on this folio.

  • How create URL for see my folio on the web content viewer ?

    Hello,
I try to create URL for see my folio on the web content viewer but nothing Work
    i have this informations :
    my applicationName
    my accountID
    my publication Name
and my articleName (even if for this i'm not sure)
All my articles are free, my folio is published...
For information my folio is in PDF format with the resolution 1024x768
Have you one idea why it's doesn't work ?
    Thanks for yours answers

Rather than cobbling together the individual parts of the URL, create a development app with social sharing enabled and at least one article set to free. When you share the article of the published folio, you'll see your web viewer URL.

  • Adobe DPS and web content viewer issues

Having an issue with the tablet and web content viewer version of this particular article. I've create two separate documents one for iPad and one for iPhone, reuploaded the article and recreate the entire article all in the hopes that it would resolve the issue. Any ideas as to how I can remedy this problem? Thanks.

This is a known issue with smooth scrolling articles in the web viewer: From Digital Publishing Suite Help | DPS Bug Fix Release Notes:
"Smooth Scrolling articles in web viewer may not display properly on the last page if the length of the smooth scrolling article is not an exact multiple of the folio height. For example, the last page of a 1024x2000 article may be cropped, but a 1024x1536 (2 times the height) or a 1024x2304 (3 times the height) should display fine. The issue is especially common in portrait orientation. One workaround is to make the height of the smooth scrolling page height an exact multiple of the folio height. Another workaround is to use PNG image format for the Smooth Scrolling article instead of PDF."

  • Is there any step-by-step tutorial on how to program the web content viewer to resize

II'm working on my portfolio site and have couple of DPS projects that I want to post in there and need to know how to modify the web content viewer to adjust for different screen size. Than you.

If you are using an embedded web viewer, this developer network article provides some information on how to resize it:

  • Performance, minimum bandwidth, thumbnail previews for PDF and InDesign Files with web content viewer

    Hi,
We are considering using DPS with a web content viewer for large PDFs and/or InDesign files. The client using a web viewer might have very limited bandwidth (some as low as 256Kbps). We ask:
1 - How well does the web viewer perform with very large PDFs and InDesign files  (500 MB+) with limited bandwidth? Does the file stream in chunks and the PDF shows as soon as the first page or two are available, with the rest loading in the background, or does the entire file come down in one part and then shown?
2 - Can PDF and InDesign files support thumbnail previews? For example, one image per PDF page and user can scroll forward and back.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Stephen

    Hi Stephen,
The way the web viewer works is that it converts the PDF/InDesign files to PNGs along with additional HTML assets. Assets are downloaded as they’re ready for a given page (e.g. first, page 1 is filled with its assets as they become available, then page 2, etc), so a reader wouldn’t need to wait for the entire article to load. The next few pages are also loaded in the background, so the reader wouldn’t be likely to notice lag as they flipped through pages to the next page after reading the current one. So the lag will depend on the size of an individual page.
For your question around thumbnails, the web viewer does not load a preview image so the reader would need to wait for the assets I described above to load.
    Hope this helps...

  • Does the web content viewer consume DPS downloads?

If you enable social sharing via the web content viewer, does each person who shares (or views) an article consume a folio download credit from your DPS account?

Here's the help topic on how this works: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/social-media-download-counts.html#soc ial_media_download_counts.

  • DPS web content viewer is caching css...?

I have noticed that when using web content viewer for use of digital publications it seems that it is caching CSS when I use preview function. This makes it very hard to make css changes. One work around I have found is using inline CSS, but ick...seriously yuk.
I am developing my own assests for a few portions and need to be able to write my own HTML5/js without help of a tool like edge animate.
    any ideas?

  • Web Content Viewer Issues.

    Hi All,
The article cannot be located. A valid URL is required.
Is being displayed when im trying to access my folio's web content viewer. I have looked in the forum for the same error and nothing helped.
    I have completed the following:
Enable Content Viewer in Administrator Settings
Folio is set to free and PNG.
Obtained the Application Name / Account ID / Publication Name / Article Name
http://contentviewer.adobe.com/s/applicationName/accountID/publicationName/articleName is the url that i insert.
The question I do have is regarding the fulfillments, do I need these to display the web content viewer.
Ive been stressing out the past week, and if anyone could help, it is much appriciated.
    Daniel

Hey Neil, That didnt end up working. Keeps saying "Cannot be located". Is there any other option that i keep missing.
    The steps I've taken are:
Publish Folio to Adobe Digital Publishing
Enable the web content viewing for the folio
I have filled in the required fields on Folio Producer and Published. (Article Access - Free)
Ive logged into http://lighthouse.adobe.com/dps/entitlement/index.php and obtained the GUID.
Ive logged into http://edge.adobe-dcfs.com/ddp/issueServer/issues?accountId and ensured that all my articles are loaded.
    Then I open up http://contentviewer.adobe.com/s/applicationName/accountID/publication Name/articleName.html
To display your folio on contentviewer.adobe.com, all you need to do is enable it in the administrator settings for that account.
Is there any step that you can see that im missing.

  • Web content viewer - supported features

    Hello,
Does anyone knows which DPS functionalities are supported in web viewer.
I'm in trouble to get the following working:
    - scrollable content
    - MSO operating buttons
    - images sequences
videos and navto buttons work fine.

    Hello,
I upgraded today to Drop 21 tools and created a new custom content viewer to test my folio on iPad.
After re-publishing the whole folio, I can view it again in Web Viewer ("Adobe Content Viewer for Web").
    A few problems remain:
    - Images sequences not working (seems that they should, see bottom of the page)
    - embedded (in MSO) buttons (leading to prev/next state) not working
    What can I do now?
    I've got on a page a 5 states MSO.
    Each state contains next/prev/close buttons
States 3,4,5 contain an "auto launch" image sequence.
Everything works fine on iPad, of course
    An idea, anyone?

  • Web content viewer analytics

Is it possible to single out the analytics for the content viewer only?

Not with the base analytics but you could if you use Omniture Site Catalyst

  • Embedded web content viewer

Downloaded the example from the web site. Modified the hosts file as the readme.txt file indicated. When we access
    blogs.adobe.com/hostDemos/bridge/
we get the message that we are not authorized to view the publication.
I can view the publication if it is not embedded so the publication exists. Has anyone been able to view the publication in an iframe?

Is this the reason (under "Known issues with social sharing / web viewer)? Digital Publishing Suite Help | DPS Bug Fix Release Notes
I'm not using V32 on this folio.

  • Could you pls include Web Content Viewer in DPS SE as well?

Or allow for the folio to be exported as a pdf, complete with overlays?

    Hi Charles,
I like this proposal. Especially the MDM Version is very helpful if anyone wants to recreate the problem on a local PC. Additionally it makes sense to add this info because of the release of MDM 7.1. MDM 7.1 has a lot of changed as well as additional functionality compared to MDM 5.5. It's easier to answer a question if it's clear, what the question is about.
    Cheers

  • Content Viewer app for iPad not logging in?

I've checked all the boxes in troubleshooting this, they don't apply. Log in first via website, check, on both Windows Chrome and iPad Safari, still get Authentication Failed error with identical logon info from the Content Viewer app.
Online chat help could only suggest that an Adobe server was having issues. The DPS portal currently reports no issues with the web Content Viewer, not sure that is the same thing as the iPad app. Maybe DPS folks just don't know about this one yet, and they've left the building for a week on holiday.
Anyone here have any ideas? I'm not a DPS subscriber, and the app does not seem to require that, only an Adobe ID, which I created years ago and which is still working through the web. I need the content viewer for iPad to review work by people who are subscribers to DPS.
Thanks for any help or perspective you can provide.

On a computer, sign in to http://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com and follow the prompts to verify your email account with DPS. You should then be able to sign in.

  • Content Viewer Crashes When Viewing Web Content

    Hi,
I'm having issues with the folio Content Viewer crashing before web pages fully load  my hyperlinks. I need to proof the folio with the client before we can publish, so I need everything to be working and know that the final app will not have the same issue.
I've set up buttons that link to coordinates on Google Maps. When a button link is clicked, the web viewer begins to load then immediately disappears (sliding to the bottom of the screen before the web content finishes loading) or crashes the Content Viewer completely.
I searched the forums and did not really find any solutions, other than when using a lot of images, they need to be sized/sampled down to use less memory. My folio does have a few articles that use quite a few images, so I've sampled everything down to 72dpi and noticed a slight increase in loading speed when loading each article. At first I thought this fixed the issue as the maps were loading for me, but after switching articles, it's crashing again.
If anyone has come across this and has a solution, please help me out!
    Thanks,
    S

    Found a solution.
