Web Dynpro Java - Messages

Hi,
In my application, I want to delete all error messages when user licks on back button, because those messages are still displayed in the previous view.
How can I do? which method has to be called?

Hi Karim,
In the method say <b>Back()</b> you are calling the outbound plug ie., you are using the code
wdThis.wdFire<outboundPlug>();
Are having code to display the messages in the <b>Back()</b>?
or
Are you calling any methods inside <b>Back()</b> which contains the code to display messages?
This might be one of the reason.

This error comes generally when your webdynpro project does not have an application. To create an application in your webdynpro project follow the underlying steps:
<Project>->WebDynpro->Applications ---> right click and create New Application.
Follow the steps to create the application.
Now if you create archive and deploy, it will not give you the error again.

Accessing ABAP Functions in Web Dynpro Java

Hi,
I am trynig to do "Accessing ABAP Functions in Web Dynpro Java" this application, (which is the example application which i got from www.sdn.sap.com) but everything is fine no error also while dyploying.
But it is not dysplaying the first page after i run the application i am getting plain web page ,without any content.

Deploying problem of web dynpro java application

I have a web dynpro java application with no problem about deploying.
I copied this application with another name.
I tryed new application to deploy but sdm aborted with error.

Hi,
Since the exception says "Are all referenced components deployed and available on the engine?"
Check wether any DC is used as a used DC in the webdynpro component which you are deploying.
If any used DC is available try to deploy that DC in the server and then deploy ur webdynpro application.
If all reference DC's are avialable in server, still if you get this error try to rename the component and reload+rebuild the project and deploy it.

Synchronization in Web Dynpro JAVA

Hi All,
I have a Web Dynpro JAVA application, for which an iView has been created and is assigned to a role. Now I have the below requirement,
If two users tries to access this application at the same time then the second user has to get a message stating that "A user is already accessing this application please try later". Basically the thread concept. Is it possible to achieve this in Web Dynpro JAVA. If yes please provide me some pointers on how to achieve this.

Create the Custum table with UserID fields.
Create the RFC with UserID fields as input parameters and result field as export parameter.
Write the logic in RFC if Custum table contains any value in UserID Field then return error message like " This application is already using by <UserID>"
else
stor the values UserID and LoginStatus(which you are sending from Webdynpr java app) in custom table and return success message.
Create webdynpro java component and create two iview called main and info view
import the RFC in webdynpro java app and do the binding from model to component controller and component controller to view controller of main.
Write the following code in wdDoInit() method of main view to get the login userid and sending that to RFC.

KM Permissions in Web Dynpro Java

The error message: "Permission denied: uri=/kmfolder,
permission=node_create_child, user=XXXXXX"
Background:
We are using a KM Windows repository to connect KM to a Windows shared
folder over the network. Then we are using a Web Dynpro java
application to write a file to the KM Folder, which is then mapped to
that KM Windows repository.
Security on the Windows shared folder is wide open. Everyone=Full
Control, and Domain Users=Full control.
Problem:
When end users try to write the file to KM through the Web Dynpro app,
they get the error:
"Permission denied: uri=/kmfolder, permission=node_create_child,
user=XXXXXX"
But when we give them the Content Admin role, they are able to write
the file just fine. For this reason, I do not believe there is a
Windows permission issue.
We have tried:
-Explicitly setting User Mapping through User Admin -> Identity
Management
-Using a System Principle role with Full Access (Read, write, delete)
-Duplicating the Content Admin role, removing the pages & iViews (so
they can't view the Content Admin interface) and assigning this role to
our test users.

Hi Gurus,
I've written a Web Dynpro Abap Application to maintain CRM Opportunities, working with Transaction-ID and everything (read&write) works fine.
Now, I'd like to write the same Application in Web Dynpro Java.
I'm quite new in WDJ and thus would like to have some good Howtos & Guides (using the NWDI, CMS, CBS & DTR on a remote J2EE Engine) - e.g. how do I get information out of FMs I used in Abap, like CRM_ORDERADM_H_READ_OB when writing code in Java?

Problem in completing the TASK when using Web Dynpro Java and BPM

Hi,
I am using Web Dynpro Java and BPM.
i see my Web Dynpro View when i run the process.
Just that the task is not completing.
when i click on the Web Dynpro button to signal the completion of the event, nothing happens.
i have appropriately created events in both Component controller and Interface Controller and used the same in creating the Task.
a method in Component controller fires the event and a button click in the view calls this method.
i have successfully completed Donka Dimitrova's "SAP Netweaver Business Process Management-End-to-End Process Implementation Sample " but when i tried my own with slight modifications, it is not working !!!

Hi Amol,
The way you described the things, I dont see any problems. Just to make sure that you are triggering the right event that you mapped as completion event for the task, try to cross check once again and see if the correct event is getting triggered. Also try to put some messages for debugging to see till where the control goes.

Web Dynpro Java Internationalization and backend ABAP function modules

Friends,
I have a requirement where I want my Web Dynpro Java application to support BRAZIL and CHINESE.
I have been through the sample programs and tutorials and I understand how to support my application in these 2 languages. The challenge I am facing is how to communicate the language to the backend code (ABAP function modules) so that the function modules can written language specific error messages and texts.
I searched SDN but could not find anything. Your help is appreciated.

When you are configuring JCo connection in WebDynpro Content Administrator, just left language settings blank for metadata connection (you may do the same for data connection). Now WD will supply language of currently logged-in user when obtaining connection settings from system landscape and you'll get necessary functionality.
By default locale of user determined by parameter sap-locale (sap-locale=de_DE for example), settings of user's browser and lastly preferences of user stored in UME.
Btw, BRAZIL (or Portugees for this matter) is not fully supported language by SAP, so R/3 side may be not translated or partly translated.

When we want to send Emails through Web Dynpro java application , what are the necessary or prilimanry things needed ?
1 ) In my application , jar files are there ( activation and mail )
When deployed and run it is giving no errors but mails are not going .
Secondly , from portal ( abap stack ) sap inbox when i send message to any company mail id , it is going
That is SMTP in portal is configured .
I could not understand , why it is not going from Portal ?
Also Do I need any configuration / setttings in

2) Visual Adminstrator
3) Sys Adm - Sys config - UME - Emails notification

Controlling visibility of Web Dynpro Java iView in portal WDJ page

I should be able to use the WDPortalUtils interface in my Web Dynpro Java DC application to get the name of the iView in my Portal WDJ page using IWDPageService method getVisibleIViews(). My intent is to add another iView to this page and programmatically control the visibility of each iView from my WDJ application.
-> Instructions I have found through my online research indicate I should not have to specify a sharing reference because I am using the WDJ framework, but I tried it anyway. It didn't work.
-> I have added DC epbc.prtapi._api public part to my used DC's, and specified dependency at both Build time and Run time.
-> My portal page template is of type Web Dynpro Proxy Page.
-> My iView template is of type Web Dynpro Proxy iView.
-> The Page Content view of my page shows the 'visible' checkbox set for my iView.
The following statements in the wdDoInit() method of my DC's view controller should return the portal name of my iView:

The last thing I can think of is the method is been called before the portal page has been rendered completely, which may lead to the faulty results.
Is it possible to move the getVisibleIviews() to a method which is called later in the phase (for instance, at the bottom of wdDoModify or wdDoPostProcessing) or, even better, in an onAction event handler when a button is clicked?
If this doesn't work I'm afraid I'm running out of options and i would file an OSS message with SAP

Web Dynpro (WD) is a proprietary web application user interface technology developed by SAP AG and exists in a Java (Web Dynpro for Java, WDJ or WD4J) and an ABAP (Web Dynpro ABAP[1] , WDA) flavor. Both have in general the same functionality, but usually one flavor is improved after the other, so temporary one flavor is more advanced than the other. Hence, the decision for one of the two flavors shall be based on organizational and business circumstances, but not on functionality.
WD follows an adapted MVC pattern and a model driven development approach ("minimize coding, maximize design") with a large number of dedicated hooks in generated code to place custom coding. It is intended for business applications that shall follow standardized UI principles, connect to backend systems and be scalable.

For example, WD supports so-called "islands" for e.g. flash applications that enrich the Web Dynpro UI element collection by rich UI elements. This disadvantage doesn't seem so serious but in fact basic features that user expect to receive cannot be implemented (e.g. coloured rows in table, colours in general, advanced aligning of simple UI elements (due to nonexistence of more complicated ones), selecting multiple rows in tree-like tables (this is due to preserving basic concept of WD) and many more). Having the flash feature means that developer completely avoids WD UI (And thus cannot use other features).

The designtime and runtime environment is part of SAP NetWeaver 7.0[2] (also known as Netweaver 2004s) and following releases.
The name comes after the original Dynpro library, whose name meant "Dynamic Program".
