Web provider deployment

Ultimately I am trying to successfully deploy my own java portlets via my 9ias Connection in JDeveloper. I do not get any errors but JDev is not keeping the file structure I set up, when it deploys. I just need JDev to leave the "WEB-INF/providers" and "WEB-INF/deployment" folders alone and it's not, it's moving them.
I would like to know why JDeveloper does not pick up my "WEB-INF/providers" (provider.xml files) and "WEB-INF/deployment" (.properties files) folders when I deploy my application via the 9ias Deployment connection.
I'm using JDev 9.0.3 and deploying to 9ias 9.0.2
Everything else wraps into the .ear and .war files fine, the application works great but instead of seeing "OC4J_Portal/applications/enterprise-application_name/Web_application_name/WEB-INF/providers(or deployment)....
I end up with... OC4J_Portal/applications/enterprise-application_name/Web_application_name/WEB-INF/classes/enterprise-application_name/Web_application_name/WEB-INF/providers(or deployment folder)
That's not a typo, it puts the 'providers' and 'deployment' folders into the 'classes/etc...' directory.
Is there a way to manually specify that these two folders should deploy as-is? Or is there a default handling mechanism in JDeveloper that specifies that .properties files or provider.xml files should be handled in this way?
Please advise and any help would be appreciated. I've not had much luck getting any answers here in the past.
Thanks,
Steven

  • How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

    Hi All,
    I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
    1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
    2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
    multiple instances of OC4J ?
    3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Avi,
    First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet,jsp,java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
    I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
    I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
    Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

  • Error while registering web provider

    Hello
    I have a web provider developed in JPDK. I have deployed it successfully to an Standalone OC4J and I can access a page that says something like that:
    Oracle9iAS Portlet Application Test Page
    This page lists the portlet providers available in this web application. Use the registration URL in combination with the provider's service name to register the provider. Click on the service name link to view the provider's test page.
    Registration URL http://myserver:8888/intranet/providers/
    Service Name
    provideredd
    providergenerales
    provider_edd_desarrollo
    But when I try to register the provider in portal with the registration URL I got the error:
    An error occurred when attempting to call the providers register function. (WWC-43134)
    The following error occurred during the call to Web provider: 500: Internal Server Error (WWC-43147)
    I'm sure my OC4J is up and running because I can acces the url http://myserver:8888/intranet.
    Please help me.

    I have a similar problem where I have portal installed on a machine called portal.mgmt, which is on a network that users cannot access. Connection to portal.mgmt can only be made from our local network via a machine called install.mgmt. In a sense I guess it is acting like a reverse proxy or firewall.
    I have run ssodatan on portal providing the install.mgmt URL and can access most of Portal pages navigating to http://install.mgmt/ except any of the servlets. Actually the only servlet I can access is the sample IsItWorking servlet.
    In my java jserv.log file I am getting the following error:
    java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAvailable(Native Method)
    I can only assume, from reading the Troubleshooting guide as mentioned above, that portal.mgmt is trying to make a separate connection to the install.mgmt box and is failing.
    The network between portal.mgmt and install.mgmt is very restricted as to what can be run and what protocols and ports can be used. Is this restriction causing the problem?
    I see that Jserv uses port 8007, is this port used to communicate between machines?
    Are there any ports that need to be opened?
    I have tried using another machine called ogg as the firewall/access server and get the following error as well.
    java.net.UnknownHostException: ogg
    at java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace(Native Method)
    Any help on this one would be very much appreciated, as I am very stuck at the minute.

    Garry

  • Bpel web provider and portal

    I am trying to get the worklist app portlets to deploy on the oracle portal. the documentation indicates that the web provider which needs to be registered in the portal can be found at the url http://bpel_host:bpel:port/BPELPortlets/providers. That url returns a page not found message. Does anybody know if this is the right url or do I need to use a different url. Else do I need to deploy some other component to make the web provide active. thanks for the help.

    Are you running HTTPS with your portal or HTTP? I cannot get the BPEL portlets to work with HTTPS.

  • Creating a Web Provider on a separate Application Server

    We have developed some JSP and servlet code that requires the JSDK 2.2 and JSP 1.1, so using JServ is not an option for us.
    Rather than modify iAS to use Tomcat, I would like to register a Web Provider running on a separate Tomcat box with Oracle Portal.
    After following the instructions in the "installing.jpdk.html" document (JPDK January) I have successfully installed a Web Provider in Tomcat and I've verified that Oracle Portal and the provider talk to each other.
    However, I can't get any of the sample JSP portlets to function under Oracle Portal. The URL to the Hello World JSP example is:
    http://host:8080/auportlets/jpdk/
    helloworld/hello.jsp
    Consequently, I've made the following changes to the provider.xml file section for the HelloWorldJsp portlet:
    <appPath>/auportlets/jpdk/helloworld
    </appPath>
    <appRoot>[path to tomcat]\webapps\
    auportlets\jpdk\helloworld
    Yet, Oracle Portal returns the information "500 Internal Server Error" every time I try and access the Hello World JSP portlet.
    Any thoughts as to why this isn't working?
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hello,
    I've been trying to get a web provider working with tomcat and 9iAS portal and haven't been successful. First, I tried using a JSP I deployed on tomcat, but keeping JServ for the parallel page engine and stuff. Then, I tried completely replacing JServ with tomcat. I can get the parallel page engine to work, but I haven't been successful getting a web provider working with tomcat. The provider's test page works fine, but I can't get the portlet itself to work. In suggestions on how to get this to work would be great.
    Thanks...Joel

    What is the error message you see?
    Are there any stacktraces or other relevant messages in the ide log file? (The ide log file is [userdir]/var/log/messages.log. On userdir: http://blogs.sun.com/karthikr/entry/jse_directories)
    You can also check the server log file to see if there are more detailed messages.
    You can also try setting ant's verbose level to debug or verbose (Tools | Options | Miscellaneous | Ant | Verbosity Level) and check the output.

    I've added this, and now get a deployment error:

  • Problem generating stubs for Java EJB web service deployed in OAS

    I created an EJB web service and I've successfully deployed it in my Oracle App Server. Some of the methods work fine but others produce the ff error:
    org.apache.soap.SOAPException - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize [classname] using encoding style [encoding]It seems that the objects specified as parameters in the web service methods exposed are the only ones that had stubs generated for them. Other objects I use, which are usually wrapped inside a Vector, did not have generated stubs.
    Example:
         public String loginUser(UserDTO userDTO) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException;
    public String addItems (Vector vecItems) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException; // where vecItems is a collection of ItemDTO objects     In this scenario, stubs were generated for the UserDTO class, but not for the ItemDTO class. In effect, calling the addItems method resulted to the exception I mentioned above.
    I did a workaround wherein I declared a dummy method which accepted all the types of objects I needed as parameters so all the necessary stubs can be generated, but this fix doesn't feel like it's the proper solution to my problem.
    If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • BPM Studio call web service deployed by R12 Intergration Repository error

    Hi, I encountered a problem when calling a web service deployed by R12 Intergration Repository (SOA Gateway) w/ username/password authentication.
    It seems that the BPM Studio can not pass the security information to the web service. But using SoapUI it's quite easy to call the service with no error, just set the username and password, and set the password type to PasswordText.
    Under the External Resources catalog, I've set fileds in the Security tab with "Plain" Username Token, "sysadmin" Username and "sysadmin" Password, then changed the Authentication Type to "Username Token Profile". Then create a participant named sysadmin, and use this participant to run the process, but it just can't work.
    Anybody can help? My colleague also posted a topic here: processRemoteException when invoke  webservice from Oracle E-Business Suite but nobody answered. It would be very appreciated if sb. can fix this.

    I've encounter something similar to you're problem and it was resolved by manually creating the object using the web service constructor and inputting user credentials. If you manually instantiate your web service wrapper object and set a a security profile token, it may solve your problem. You can also pass in the web service endPoint URL, if you want.
    Fuego.WebServices.UsernameTokenProfileSecurityPolicy
    I'm not sure how to use UsernameTokenProfileSecurityPolicy, but try something like this:
    Fuego.WebServices.UsernameTokenProfileSecurityPolicy policy = UsernameTokenProfileSecurityPolicy();
    policy.username ="mark";
    policy.password = "password";
    tws = YourWebService();
    response = tws.callWebServiceMethod();
    I realize the security profile isn't tied anywhere to the web service, but try it anyway.
    There is also some fields on the webservice, tws.setRequestHeader() that may allow you to set the username and password on the request, but this doesn't make sense to me. It shouldn't be that hard.

  • Cannot display BIG5 characters for web applications deployed to 9iAS

    I have just installed the J2EE and Webcache module of Oracle9iAS Release 2 to
    my Windows NT Server 4.0 and deployed a simple web application to it. However,
    I found that the JSP cannot display chinese (Big5) characters correctly. My JSP
    is something like:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=BIG5" %>
    <HTML><BODY>
    <% String s = SOME_BIG5_CHARACTERS; %>
    <%= s %>
    </BODY></HTML>
    On the other hand, I tried to re-direct the standard output to a log file and
    do the following in my servlet.
    System.out.println(SOME_BIG5_CHARACTERS);
    Now, the Big5 characters CAN be displayed correctly in the log file. So, I am
    confused with where the problem is.
    Here are my settings to my 9iAS:
    1) Using regedit, I have set the NLS_LANG variable of the corresponding
    ORACLE_HOME to TRADITIONAL CHINESE_TAIWAN.ZHT16BIG5
    2) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Jserv\conf\jserv.properties, I have
    inserted the following line:
    wrapper.env=NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_TAIWAN.ZHT16BIG5
    3) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf, I have added the
    following line:
    PassEnv NLS_LANG
    4) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\opmn\conf\opmn.xml, I have added the following
    line to the corresponding OC4J instance:
    <environment>
    <prop name="NLS_LANG" value="TRADITIONAL CHINESE_TAIWAN.ZHT16BIG5"/>
    </environment>
    5) For my application server, I set the java option with -Dfile.encoding=Big5
    6) I have replaced the file font.properties with font.properties.zh_TW under
    %ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\jre\lib.
    7) I have set the following in the file orion-web.xml of my web application:
    <orion-web-app
    deployment-version="9.0.2.0.0"
    default-charset="Big5"
    jsp-cache-directory="./persistence"
    temporary-directory="./temp"
    internationalize-resources="false"
    default-mime-type="application/octet-stream"
    servlet-webdir="/servlet/">
    </orion-web-app>
    Anyone have idea on fixing my problem? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kae

    I met a similar problem before but not exactly your case. When I compile the JSP by Jdeveloper, it will convert the chinese characters to strange characters. It makes me crazy to handle the chinese characters ...
    Anyway, by my experience, you better isolate the chinese characters from your JSP or Java programs. Instead, put all language dependent text in a properties file and then use native2ascii to covert your properties file into Unicode. Of course, u need to change your page charset to UTF-8.
    U can get more idea from the following site.

    Acutally, I have never seen this error before. I had to check around to see if others had seen this. Are you doing anything different than your other web providers? Especially with the User Interface.
