Web server partition scheme

Hello Arch, I've been using Ubuntu for about three months and wanted to switch to something less bloated for my first dedicated web server.
I'll be writing a small web application using Django and the default SQLite.
Does anyone know where most of of the data will end up?
I know I'll need a fairly large /var for /var/www and maybe logs, but where is the default Django SQLite database stored?
I have a 80GB SATA drive on a SiliconImage softraid card.
This is my current idea for the partition scheme
sda1 primary /boot 100MB
sda2 primary /       15000 MB
sda3 extended
sda5 logical /usr    10000 MB
sda5 logical /var    the rest
Would I need more than 10GB for /usr? Less?

Ok in that case I have no idea which directories will grow once I've configured Django.
Is there any real problem with simply partitioning boot and / ?
In general, there isn't much of a problem with that. I would suggest maybe a separate /home directory, but I don't even use that, so I guess it's up to you. It usually helps if you need to reinstall/change distros. Also, most Django code should be kept in /home/username, at least from my experiences with it.

  • Not able to access schema from a Web Server

I am not successful in using a schema from a web server. I am using j2sdk1.4.2_06, and JDOM-b10. I have been successful in accessing schema using a file path, but not with a web address. The server is Windows Server 2003, I create a virtual directory using IIS under Inetpub.
    Let the URL be: http://server/research_schema/client.xsd
This would be accessible only on the intranet.
    Here is some XML:
    <client xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
          xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://server/research_schema/client.xsd">
    <execute matlab="false" commit="false" return_server_msg="false">
    <t1>
    <load_batch_data>
    <username>test</username>
    <password>test</password>
    <database>db</database>
    <get_next_batch>true</get_next_batch>
    </load_batch_data>
    </t1>
    </execute>
    </client>
Here is the code that sets the parser to be validating, and sets the schema location, I am using JDOM:
    builder = new SAXBuilder("org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser", true);
    builder.setFeature(
      "http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema",
      true);
    builder.setProperty(
       "http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation",
            "http://server/research_schema/client.xsd");
doc = builder.build(source); The error I get is a JDOMException saying the client element is not found, but I know that the client element is there, after seeing the XML output to
    a file from the sender.
I see many exmples on the internet using a URL for the schema location, and it is usually the internet and not just the intranet. So it does work for someone.
    I'd appreaciate any help.

    Steve, et. al.,
My apologies for using this in lieu of email, but I have been searching and searching for the answer to your questions from last summer concerning the correct method for getting the local xsd file to be correctly accessed from the xml file when using JDOM to parse with validation..
I did not see successful resolution of the thread from last summer, but this one seems closely related and suggests that you were either instructed to give up, or gave up on your own and went to the solution of placing the xsd file on a server.
Maybe I've got my head screwed on wrong, but I, like you, would like to find a successful way to make xml processing work for a JWS-provisioned application the same as it would if I just sent the clients a big jar file and told them to unjar it to some convenient local directory. In that scenario xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation = "itsrighthere.xsd" works as expected.
Can anyone tell us what the correct method of specification is in the JWS context?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I have followed the steps in the following link:
Make an External List from a SQL Azure table with Business Connectivity Services and Secure Store, but I keep receiving the following message when I try to access an external list:
"Unable to render the data. If the problem persists, contact your web server administrator"
Note: I'm using SharePoint 2013 ONLINE, and (as far as I know) I have no access to the logs & powershell.
Any body has had the same issue before?
    Regards.
Note: I have tried changing my ECT's connection property (through designer 2013) to BDC Identity, but I keep receiving the following error message:
The metadata object that has Name "xxxx" has a Property with name "AuthenticationMode" and value "RevertToSelf". This value indicates that the runtime should revert to the identity of the application pool, but reverting to the

Try changing the External Content’s connection

  • Can iDSIE (Meta-directory) be used as a single authentication point from iPlanet Web Server for multiple databases using direct "or" indirect connectors?

Basically, the latest release of iPlanet Web Server forces the user/group information source to be an LDAP database. Currently, the user accounts are in Active Directory, NT, Oracle and NetWare Directory Service in this heterogeneous environment.
What I am looking for is a meta-directory product which can do two things:
1-Single authentiation point for users in mulitple databases from iPlanet Web Server.
2-Single administration point for all of the databases listed above.
For example, can I add/modify/delete a user account at the meta-directory level and have this propagate to all of the databases listed above reducing the administration to one meta-directory product?

With an Virtual Directory solution, you can authenticate Iplanet Web Server against nearly anything including any LDAPv3 Directory Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows NT Domains, Oracle RDBMS, IBM DB2 RDBMS, Microsoft SQL, and others.
All of this is done dynamically and doesn't require any heavyweight synchronization process. The Virtual Directory acts as a dynamic schema / DIT / data translation engine for different types of repositories.
OctetString's Virtual Directory Engine is one such example. You can download a 30 day evaluation copy at:
    http://www.octetstring.com
It will take you all of 30 minutes to get iPlanet Web Server authenticated against and using groups from things like Oracle RDBMS, Windows NT Domains, or Active Directory.

This is my web.config for the service and I am guessing there is something wrong with it .It is working just fine on local IIS so I am not sure what exactly is causing the issue. Can someone please have a look and see if they can find something or point me to

    hi,
Firstly, I suggest you could see the same error threads (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsazure/en-US/5cf817b3-1295-41d7-b156-ce7aa5e4d11e/502-web-server-received-an-invalid-response-while-acting-as-a-gateway-or-proxy-server?forum=windowsazurewebsitespreview
). And then, I recommend you could refer to this basic code sample(
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4027.wcf-soap-service-with-federated-authentication.aspx ). And I recommend you could download this code sample and try to use it(http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Windows-Azure-AD-Access-0dcde385/sourcecode?fileId=71587&pathId=477793108
    Please try it.
    hope this helps.

  • Physical model attribute "Partition Scheme" not saved. (SS2000)

    Hello,
I believe this is a bug report.
    Scenario:
I have a physical model of a SQL Server database. The model contains partitioned tables, 1 partitioning function and 1 partitioning scheme. If I open the physical model properties of an index or a table, set the "Partition Scheme" attribute, save, close and re-open the model, the "Partition Scheme" attribute is lost. If I don't close out and just re-open the properties page, the attribute is retained. Some how, the attribute is lost in the persistence layer.
If there is a reason the attribute is being reset, please let me know.
Thank for your help, and all the great products you guys make,
    Kurt
    DataModeler v 3.1.1

    Hi Kurt,
If there is a reason the attribute is being resetUnfortunately there is a bug causing the problem. Fix will be available in next patch release.

  • Business Objects Enterprise XI 4.0 / Linux / Oracle / Tomcat Web Server

    Hello Experts,
I have never done a BOBJ install before and I have some questions:
First, here is our setup: Business Objects Enterprise XI 4.0 / Linux / Oracle / Tomcat Web Server
    1.     We are being asked how big u2013 disk space- to make the server. All I can find is 14 GB for an English only install, there is no documentation on how big the databases need to be. Does anyone have any experience and can tell me how big the databases are going to be initially? I need to tell the server team how much space to put on the server.
    2.     The documentation says to have two databases or schemas, one for Central Management Server and one for the Auditing Data Store. My question around this is whether there is a preferred way to do it, separate databases or separate schemas?
    3.     The documentation does not say anything about the file system layout, do we need to create the standard SAP file system layout (i.e. /sapmnt, etc.)
Many many thanks in advance, any advice would be a greate help .. please help
    Regards,
    Sunil Patel

    Hi,
    here are some answers:
    1. Well for the Installation of the Software as itself (not the databases) i would recommend at least 30 GB. All the Reports are getting stored physically in the installation directory. This behavior is by default. Later you can move the FileStore (where the Reports, Universes, etc. are located in) to a NAS share f.e.
With Regards to the Databases i would recommend 1 GB for the CMS DB and 5 GB for the Audit DB. It depends on how you Audit your System. If you audit more actions, more information in the Audit DB will be stored.
    2. 2 Schemas on one DB is fine
    3. Usually you run a BOE installation on UNIX/LINUX under an installation user. BOE will be installed into his Home Directory.
    Regards
    -Seb.

Which version of Sun web server are you using? Is it 6.1, 7.0 or 7.0 Update2.
    6.1 supports Servlet 2.3 spec. 7.0 supports Servlet 2.4 spec and 7.0 Update 1 and 2 support Servlet 2.5.
Servlet 2.3 is DTD based and Servlet 2.4 onwards are schema based.
The DTD or schema will be right after XML prolog in web.xml.
You can use one of the following:
    <!DOCTYPE web-app
    PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN"
    <web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
    http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd" version="2.4">
I am sure your web.xml is not correctly written for the DTD/schema used.
If you take care of that I am sure th problem will go away.
If not, let us know if your webapp's WEB-INF/lib has xerces.jar.

ld.so.1: start: fatal: libssl3.so: open failed: No such file or directory
    Killed
    Any help is welcome. Thanks.
I had not installed the webserver in the standard location /opt/SUNWwbsrvr but in /BCP partition.

also, you can do something like
    cd https-admserv
    sh -x start
this will show as to what is the current LD_LIBRARY_PATH is pointing to and why ssl3.so is not getting loaded.
    if you don't see
https-* under web server install root directory, then something wrong with your installation as well.
yes, if u stand alone version of web server, then you shouldn't run into any dependencies issue. u can also get 6.1 sp6 version from web - http://www.sun.com/webserver

  • Exporting/Importing partition schema

    Hi,
We are trying to manage multiple repositories for a project and in
particular we use a devopment/test rep and a production rep ( containing a
    production plans snapshot ).
When a plan is moved from a development repository to the production one,
the partitioning previously done is lost. In this case developers have to
    partition from scratch.
Moreover in our repository management policy ( apart clean up ) , we
destroy periodically development repository and import saved plans in a new
created one. This procedure causes the same problem described before.
Is there any chance to export the partition schema done in development
repository in order to re-apply the partitioning to the same plan in new
    one, using fscript ?
Is there any other way to do it ( maybe via repository hooks and a tool
    application ) ?
    Thanx
    Fab

    Fabrizio,
We have a tool that will do this, and a number of other things for you. It
not only saves partitioning information, but it also:
    * Reads your application defintion, along with the partitioning information
    from the repository,
    * Creates deployment and installation scripts,
    * Analyzes your application for over 20 different performance and
    scalability problems,
    * Captures the supplier plan relationships for each partition as well as
    for the entire application,
    * Graphically shows partitioning structure, similar to partition workshop,
along with all partition and service object properties,
    * Has Web and IIOP property sheets which are read from the application,
    * Saves operational information, such as outage schedules and external
    interfaces,
    * Records special runtime properties of classes in your system
We offer this as part of our "Designing for Deployment" workshop. You can
send me a separate message for information about the workshop and the tool.

  • CAC or smart card use with Oracle database and web server

I've been asked to smart card (CAC) enable our Oracle web server and database access. We currently use CAC to access many of our other applications.
Where can I find the following information
Oracle software required (and is it an additional cost)
How to integrate Oracle App server (web server) with CAC.
How would I need to change the database users accounts to be CAC enabled rather than database users accounts.
    Thanks

Virtualisation is not certified for Oracle RAC on Windows.
+Certified Software on Oracle VM [ID 464754.1]+ note states:
    Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
Oracle 10.2.0.4 and up (10gR2) and 11.1.0.7 and up (11gR1) and 11gR2 RAC for Linux x86 and Linux x86_64 certified on Oracle VM
Guest OS: Oracle Linux 5.1 (and above) RHEL 5.1 (and above) for Linux x86 / Linux x86_64
Paravirtualized (PV) mode only (Guest OS and drivers)
Only supported on Oracle VM 2.1.2 and above
Live-migration of an Oracle RAC VM is supported with Oracle VM 2.2.1 and above.
Previous versions are not supported. Please refer to this link for best practices.
Over-committing CPUs is not recommended, but supported with the following restrictions:
The total amount of VCPUs allocated to guest domains (running Oracle RAC guests), should not exceed
two times (2x) the amount of real CPUs / cores in the Oracle VM server.
The amount of VCPUs allocated to a single guest domain should not exceed the amount of real CPUs /
cores in the Oracle VM server.
Maintain Oracle VMs default VCPU allocation for dom-0: Oracle VM will allocate 1 VCPU for each real CPU or core to dom-0.
CPU pinning is only recommended for hard partitioning. If no hard partitioning is required, CPU pinning should not be used.
Static support only (dynamic support is being planned):
Dynamic resizing of guest virtual machine is not supported (VCPU, memory and I/O)
Virtual Machine Pause/Restore of an active Real Application Cluster virtual machine is not supported.

  • Questions concerning new partitioning scheme

    Hi
Since I'll be upgrading my home and office workstations soon, I've decided to tinker a little with my current "go-to" partition scheme to better serve my current project needs.
Let's start with the office workstation. Here's the current scheme:
    [256GB SSD]
    sda1 # Windows boot
    sda2 128GB # Windows system
    sda3 ext2 500MB /boot
    sda4 # encrypted
    vault
    vg # LVM
    lv_root ext4 28GB /
    lv_swap swap 8GB swap
    lv_opt ext4 6-8GB /opt
    lv_var etx4 24GB /var
    lv_tmp ext2 2GB /tmp
    lv_home ext4 [free-10GB] /home
    free
And here is my current concept:
    [256GB SSD]
    sda1 # Windows boot
    sda2 128GB # Windows system
    sda3 ext2 250-500MB /boot
    sda4 # encrypted
    vault
    vg # LVM
    lv_root ext4 26-30GB /
    lv_swap swap 4-8GB swap
    lv_var etx4 12-16GB /var
    lv_varlib etx4? 24-36GB /var/lib
    lv_vartmp etx4/reiserfs? 2-4GB /var/tmp
    lv_tmp ext2? 2GB /tmp
    lv_home ext4 [free-10GB] /home
    free
Basically the whole concept behind the change is to maximize /var flexibility/performance with applications like VMs (KVM) and containers (Docker). Was thinking about substituting LVM model with btrfs subvolume model, but I'm not convinced with it's maturity for production (will be a good choice for home workstation do).
    Questions
    1. Is separating /var/lib a good idea in those terms?
    2. If so, what fs would fit in?
    3. Should I consider creating separate partitions for other locations?
    4. Any other tweaks/ideas that might come in hand?
    5. (bonus) Which filesystems would You recommend for better compilation performance (ReiserFS/Reiser4/tmpfs)?

2 grubs because I was reading the wiki quickly and probably misread the section on bootloaders.
2 arch installs because I want one as my "stable" and one as my "unstable" installation.  I'm taking this laptop with me overseas for work for a bit over a year and it will be replacing my desktop.  I love to tweak my machine but I need to make sure I can do so without risking loss of everything.  The idea is I can play with things in my "unstable" install and move them to "stable" if I like them.  Honestly, the distro on that partition will likely change occasionally just so I can play around a bit.
I know I could just use a virtual machine but that's not how I want to do it right now.

  • Designer Web server Generation

I installed Designer 6.0 on Oracle 8.0.3 with OAS 4.0.7.
I am able to install PL/SQL web tool kit packages (htp, htf and owa etc.)successfully from OAS.
I could not install WSGL, WSGJSL etc. packages. When I run the wsgl.sql scripts the error says 'cg$errors.push' undefined. The WSGL package body is becoming invalid.
I do not find this 'cg$errors' package anywhere in my database schemas. Can any one help me in correctly generating the WSGL, WSGJSL etc. Package bodies.
    Thanks in advance
    Phanesh.

    mlwalter77,
There is no option to pop-up the report on the remote machine but what you could do is write the report to the <LabVIEW>\www folder and use LabVIEW's built in web server to serve the report to the remote pc.
You could then just have a link that goes between the html page with the embedded control and the generated html report page.
I hope this suggestion helps and let me know if you have any more questions.
