Web Service Attachment?

Hello,
Has anyone created a portal webservice and passed an attachment in the soap message of the webservice?
We have a .Net client that calls the portal webservice and passes an attachment(pdf file) along with the webservice call. The portal then needs to take that attachment and attach that to a portal service that is calling another webservice on a .Net server.
Has anyone done something similar?
Going from a .Net environment to a java/portal environment is giving me trouble on figuring this out. The .Net is attaching the file, but trying to figure out how to get that attachment in the portal's soap runtime is giving me fits. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I am not totally positive on this, but I think SAP does not yet support SOAP with attachments.
So the only thin you can do as far as I know, is to create a simple service with one parameter that contains the whole package of information as an XString.
This will lead to the information being transferred as base64-encoded binary information.

I have the following problem:
I created a web service that return attachement. When I tested the web service from SOAP UI utility, I found that the webservice return the attachement in both ways, as inline in the responce body and as an attachement to the responce but without adding the href to responce body.
Please advise how I can add the href and remove the attachement from responce body.

Would you let us know from where you are calling web service and for what?
And if possible provide error log as screenshot or txt file. So that it will be easy to trace issue.

Web Services allow exhanging files using the "Web Service Attachment" feature and OracleAS does support multiple encoding style depending of your needs, as you can see in the documentation:
- Working with Attachment
The doc that I have pointed you to is for Web Services development in Java independently of the database..
The current database Web Services does now allow you to expose LOB resources as attachment directly.
So what you can do is to implement the Web Service in Java and using EJB, or any JDBC technology to access the database and expose that using attachment as Web service.

PL SQL web service call to export attachment

I am trying to export a project from Primavera DB using the ExportProject web service from PL/SQL. Have a basic question
- How can the PL/SQL receive the exported file from a web service? I now that the Export service uses MTOM (Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism) to send the output files as attachments. Is the attachment coming in the SOAP message itself?
- How can i find the attachment?

How to attach XML file in the response of Web Services

I am new to the WEB SERVICE. this my requirement.
I need to make a class file a web service. and i need to get data from the data base and attach it in the response. I need to use SOAP MEssaging for this. so how to call the service from the JSP and how to get the data from the response,Before that which technology i need to use for this requirement. Plz let me know how to accomplish this task. I have gone thur lot of tech stuff and i am confused a lot, what to use and how to use. Will any one help me out.

Setting the attachment name in web service call scheduleReport

Hi there,
I searched the forum for this, found lots of threads but no useful solution...
I am using BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 and I need to send a PDF report by email using its web service functionality. This works fine but the report is attached as "attachment.pdf" which is far from ideal. Is it possible to specify what the attachment should be called (e.g. "veryimportantreport.pdf")

Xi sender mail adapter with attachment (to Web Service w/ attachment)

We're working on an XI scenario wherein a sender mail adapter polls an exchange server inbox for mail (with attachment)and sends the attachment to a Web Service via SOAP Adapter? Does anyone know if this is doable, and if so, how?

I think so, if you just have a single attachment to be transferred.
Use the Mail Sender Adapter and specify the MailServer URL etc...
In the Module provessor of the Mail-Adapter you have to specify the PayloadSwapBean ( -> this changes the payload - the attachment becomes the payload)
then you configure the standard XI-scenario with
SenderAgreement
Mapping if necessary
Receiver Agreement
Receiver adapter

SWA: Web Services call with attachment using 10.1.3 preview?

Has anyone managed to figure out how to invoke a web service with an attachment (using SWA, SOAP with Attachments) with the new 10.1.3 preview release?
Or are there any samples/documents that can point me in the right direction on how to do this?

Finally got 10.1.3 installed, and sure enough, there is an example for the use of SWA (SOAP with Attachments), both as client and as server.
But the notes say it won't run with Oracle Lite DB. Makes me wonder why?
Kinda sucks, since that is what we're using for our proof of concept. <sigh>

How to pass .txt file as an attachment to the web service (SOAP Attachment)

I am creating web service using NetBeans 6.5 IDE and JAX-WS. I create a web application and then create web service using provided interface. I want to add .txt file as an attachment/parameter to the web service operation using "Add operation" interface. Don't want to add as an attachment to the SOAP message by creating it explicitly. IDE generates SOAP request and response automatically when the service is tested using "Test Web service" option. How can I add attcahment when I add operation so that it will appear in the generated SOAP message ?

Attachment doesn't work in web service. You have to pass the content of the text file as a String or as an array of bytes to a method of your web service. From there, you may save the passed data in a file.

Attachment in WLS 7 sp2 Web Service

Hi, I'm trying to send to a Web Service in WLS7 sp2 SOAP message with attachments. My problem: when I don't add any attachment to SOAP message all go OK, but when I add an attachment with the "href" attribute in an element of the message (I need do it because I use the MM7 protocol of 3GPP), WLS7 donÂ´t accept my message and tell me: "The ID referenced by ..... is unknow". The Content-ID of attachment is equal to value of the href attribute.
Please, I need help with this!! If anyone knows any URL or sample code that can help me, please, reply to this post.

Currently there is no option to turn off security check.
I think you can use a servlet filter mapped to the URL
of your service, instead of a proxy servlet?

Could anyone tell me hos to call a web service with the message Payload as an SOAP attachment? I´m calling from WAS 6.20 -> XI -> WS using a client proxy, but i can´t understand how the Payload becomes an attahcment?

This issue might be due to the invalid .pem certificate file.
Make sure to include the beginning and end tags on each certificate.
The result should look like this:

Slow attachment upload with Exchange Web Services (Outlook 2011 for Mac?)

We're experiencing slow attachment upload with Exchange Web Services versus MAPI, OWA, and Outlook Anywhere. I'm not totally certain that it is Exchange Web Services or specifically Outlook 2011 for Mac. I attempted to test with the Mac Mail
App, but it makes it difficult to tell when the attachment has been uploaded and the file has been sent. Here's what we're seeing (10mb file):
MAPI / RPC/HTTPS / OWA: 10-15 seconds upload time
Exchange Web Services (Outlook 2011 for Mac): 60-90 seconds upload time
Thoughts? Any idea why we would see such a drastic difference in attachment upload time? Any way to prove definitively that it is Exchange Web Services vs. Outlook 2011 for Mac? We've tried it from multiple locations with multiple different machines,
and although the upload times vary (some locations have more bandwidth etc) the ratios remain similar.

If only special user, I recommend you do the following steps and test:
1.Remove and re-add the email account and check if this helps to resolve the issue.
To remove and add the email accounts:
Open Outlook > GO to Tools > Accounts > Click on "Minus" symbol to remove and "Plus" to add an Email account.
2.Creating a new user profile:
