Web Services and Nested Complex Types

I am having troubles trying to get coldfusion to use a web
service function.
I know that the web service works as I am sending another
function in a simple variable and receiving a simple variable. I
know the function exists as I when I dump the object the function
is there and I have been told by who supplies it that it works in
other languages.
The problem I am having is that when I call the function I
get the following error: Web service operation "[function name]"
with parameters [parameters] could not be found. I am lead to
believe that it may have to do with the fact that one of the
parameters is a complex type with nested complex types, because of
the amount of trouble it took to get nested complex types to
(apparently) work.
Has anyone had this problem before and/or know how to fix
it?

You can invoke methods which take complextypes as parameters.
The idea is to create first a structure which represents the
complextype. For example; crit = structNew(), crit.paramname1 =
value1, ctir.paramname2 = value2. After this, you just pass the
structure
crit as a parameter value, for example with
<cfinvokeargument>.
Always check the wsdl and the possible documentation
carefully. You'll get always an error if the types of the
parameters passed didn't match exactly to what was expected.
Handling complextype responses is also possible, but not very
elegant with ColdFusion.
For example, you have <cfinvoke
returnvariable="wsResult"... >, and you get a java object as a
response which you can really do nothing about with CF functions,
you must use Java Reflection API to extract the values.
<cfset oFields =
wsresult.getClass().getDeclaredFields()>
<cfoutput>
<cfloop from="1" to="#arraylen(oFields)#" index="fi">
<cfset field = oFields[fi].getName()>
<cfif isdefined("wsresult." & field) AND field NEQ
"typedesc">
#field# = #wsResult[field]#<br>
</cfif>
</cfloop>
</cfoutput>
The above is just an example, and It might work with only
some types of complextype responses. But it's a start. :)
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00553.html
is also another example about handling complextype responses. It
plays "safer", not relying that CF can extract values without
"getters" automatically, and is more of a complete solution.

  • Recommended steps to generate a web service using nested complex types

    Hello,
    I need to generate a web service that uses nested complex types with built in types on the bottom layer. I hve posted an attempt at a WSDL. Please give advice on if I am doing it correctly.
    I have the suspicion that I should nest the complex types into the final complex type VendorStockingInterface. Please confirm.

    I'd like the the consumer of the web service to send it a document with the fields formatted to the VendorInterface complextype which contains the other complextypes. In return the consumer will get another document with some acknowledgement messages.
    To make this happen I'd like to generate the web service, creating the complex type classes and XMLBeans. I'd like advice on the steps to take once I get a good WSDL.
    There is also the option to go from the other direction. Is it better to attempt to create a schema XSD document instead and use that to work towards the web service and WSDL? If so, could someone give an example of how to format an XSD using my example needs.

    I think I have got it all in place, though I have not tested it as of yet. For others who are looking at this, here is my XSD file from which all my complextypes were generated and lastly here is the actual web service file.

  • Web Services Data Control - Complex type bindings

    I am calling a web services using the web service data control. The request object is a complex type. I observed that some data managed to bind but some failed to bind (empty value on the outbound SOAP payload). Specifically, all the "scalar" elements within the complex type managed to bind. For example the following element snippet within the overall complex data did not bind the value entered to the SOAP payload:
    <xsd:element minOccurs="0" name="zones">
    <xsd:annotation>
    </xsd:annotation>
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element type="xsd:string" maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="1" name="zone"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    While the following complex element within the same payload managed to bind value entered:
    <xsd:element minOccurs="0" name="orderBy">
    <xsd:annotation>
    <xsd:documentation></xsd:documentation>
    </xsd:annotation>
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="1" name="orderByItem">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:all>
    <xsd:element type="xsd:string" name="fieldName"/>
    <xsd:element type="xsd:boolean" name="ascending"/>
    </xsd:all>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    Any bug report of this?
    Cheers
    Boon

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the response. I looked further into the problem. This is what I found.
    This is error message:
    javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: Foundation Engine Error: '' is an Invalid search zone. Valid zones include: 'id_object','name','published.name','comment_text','published.comment_text','note','document_extension','published.document_extension','physical_id','file_title','published.created_by','content'
    I turned on the trace and found the following message:
    [SRC_METHOD: parse] [225] No XML file /ObjectiveSearch/send/params/searchRequest/searchInput/searchInfo/zones/zones.xml for metaobject ObjectiveSearch.send.params.searchRequest.searchInput.searchInfo.zones.zones
    But when I looked into the model directory, I only able to find:
    H:\JDeveloper\AdvancedSearch\Model\adfmsrc\ObjectiveSearch\send\params\searchRequest\searchInput\searchInfo\zones\zone.xml
    It seems that WS data controller adapter is looking for zones/zones.xml. The wsdl specify zones with sub-elements(sequence) of zone (see wsdl below). The correct structure (zones/zone) is shown on the web service data control pallete and I can bind it to a JSF page.

  • Generating a Web Service and Oracle DATE type

    Hi,
    I need to generate a Web Service from an EJB model based upon entities generated from the Oracle 11g database that contain DATE types.
    I realize that java.sql.Date may not be a supported JAX-RPC type but I would be VERY grateful for some instructions about the easiest way to solve this problem when generating the web service in JDeveloper 11g.
    The integrated WLS server log looks like this:
    <2009-apr-26 kl 23:13 CEST> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101216> <Servlet: "WSEE_SERVLET" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/SessionFacadeBean".

  • Quick questions on the topic of Web Services and EJB POJOs

    I have been reading about Web Services and the data types that are aloud as operation parameters and return types. I was wondering what the standard practice for return types; is it to use the Entity classes straight and customize the WSDL instead of letting the EE container do it (avoid cyclic problems in the schema that can occur when using entity 1-to-many and many-to-1 mappings) or; is it to off load the data into a DTO/VO/Bean and let the EE container take care of all the schema mapping for the WSDL? I look at the EE tutorial and bought a EE book both use very basic examples that do not include connecting to a database or using EJB3 for the data store.
    Thanks for any information

  • No data in generated document/web service data source/complex response type

    I can define a report with a template with the BI Publisher server and the Template Builder Desktop plugin. When I use an sql statement as data source the preview functionality in Word and in the browser (logged in to the server) results in a correct report, with the correct data from the data source.
    When I use a web service as a data source I can still generate and preview reports but no data from the data source is visible in the reports. However this data is available in the Template Builder plugin in MS-Word.
    How do I know this ? When I try to insert a field from the data source into my rtf template the plugin shows a screen with the available fields. Or actually, the screen shows all fields returned by a dummy call to the web service. When I click on a field it shows the value returned by the web service just after the test "Example". I have set up my web service such that it always returns the same response.
    The field I want to show is in a repeating record, but it does not make a difference when I surround it by a group:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup[1];./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    Neither does looping over all fields display any data:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup;./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    The fact that the response of my web service data source contains repeating records might be different from what others have tested so far.
    I also found two other features when defining reports. I mention them here because they could be related to my problem. When I define two data source for my report, a web service and an sql query then only the fields from the sql query are visible in MS-Word/Template Builder. Even when the Data Model specifies the web service as "Main Data Set". And the "Default data source" is always a database even when the Data Model only defines a web service as "Data Set".
    Edited by: CalculateOnline.org on May 21, 2010 2:36 PM: changed title

    Unfortunately I can not test against a public webservice and follow the examples in the tutorials, since BI Publisher does not seem to offer any proxy configuration to connect to the internet.
    My local webservice returns the following data, visible when viewing the report from the backend, when no template has been defined yet:
    <ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse xmlns:ns2="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/validationOperations" xmlns="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/common">
    <ns2:responseHeader>
    <resultaatcode>OK</resultaatcode>
    </ns2:responseHeader>
    <ns2:body>
    <ns2:validationGroupList>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep1</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop1</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 1</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep2</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop2</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 2</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    </ns2:validationGroupList>
    </ns2:body>
    </ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse>
    After defining the template, the values of the first group are visible in MS-Word as well, as example values.
    I put the the template in a public place:
    http://www.calculateonline.org/projects/bipublisher/template1.rtf
    Just in case you need the wsdl as well:
    http://www.calculateonline.org/projects/bipublisher/validationOperations.wsdl

  • Wsdl nested complex type

    I'm trying to create Web service that return a nested complex type.
    The exposed method return a Vector. Elements of vector are beans. A single bean has more attributes, one of them is a hashtable.
    Here my code:
    package pk;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    public class myBean {
    private String the_string;
    private Hashtable hs;
    public myBean(){
    hs= new Hashtable();
    public void setThe_string(String p_){
    the_string= p_;
    public String getThe_string(){
    return opec;
    public void setHs(Hashtable _hs){
    hs= _hs;
    public Hashtable getHs(){
    return hs;
    The exposed method is :
    public Vector getInfo( Vector myBeanVector, String[] arrayValue)
    The input and output Vectot are myBean's type
    I get alqways this error with oc4j (Jdev 9.0.3):
    No Deserializer found to deserialize pk.myBean
    Any help would be very appreciated.
    thanks in advanced

  • Create MII transaction & MII Web Service and consume them in ABAP

    Hi,
    there is a document from Pradip Ray (SAP Labs India) published on SDN:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/208239ac-3161-2b10-f29a-abec6754942e
    He explains how to build a transaction in MII, expose it as a web service then consume it in an ABAP program by generating a ABAP consumer proxy for this service.
    I have done this and it works but the problems started when I tried to generate a second ABAP consumer proxy for a second web service build in MII.
    In the ABAP system , transaction SE80 then display proxy class:  ( e.g. ZMIICO_XACUTE_WSSOAP )
    then go to Properties tab , under sub-screen "External key" you can see the "Name: XacuteWSSoap".
    This is the web service port type name generated at MII and is always the same for all the MII web services. When you try to generate a second proxy for a second MII web service you get the following message  "A proxy already exists for object XacuteWSSoap (namespace http://www.sap.com/xMII) "
    This can be changed by editing the WSDL file but then another problem occurs which is related to the "InputParams" complex type. This tag gets generated with the same name for all the web services in MII.  The generation of the ABAP structure with the following name: INPUT_PARAMS will override the previous one .  This means that the previous ABAP proxy will not work anymore.
    Has any one experimented this ?
    Daryoush Delgari.
    This is the generated WSDL on MII:

    Hi Daryoush,
    Little surprise for you, I got the solution ;o)
    In fact, editing the WDSL file, you can change the parameter names which will be generated in Web Dynpro. You have to change the tag <complex type ...>.
    For example :
    <s:complexType name="InputParams">
    Could become :
    <s:complexType name="*Zs1*InputParams">
    and later in the code, you should reference the element appropriately
      <s:element maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0" name="InputParams" type="s0:InputParams"/>
    should become :
       <s:element maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0" name="InputParams" type="s0:*Zs1*InputParams"/>
    But take care to keep name="InputParams", it's the xlm name which will be used by MII to do the matching...
    Take care also that you have to do the same for output, that means ROW and ROWSET complex type...
    So, to be concrete, here are an example with in bold everything I changed against the original MII WDL file...
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Pl/Sql web service and collections not working

    Hello
    I'm trying to create a web service from a function in a package which returns a collection. The creation of the web service and its deployment seem to work correctly. I do get the following warning :
    WARNING: OWS-00077 The Value Type class: pxWsLang.PamLanguagerecordBase does not have a valid JAVA Bean pattern
    but I don't think this is the source of the problem.
    When I try to test the web service using the endpoint in the wsdl I get the following answer in the browser:
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><env:Header/><env:Body><env:Fault xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><faultcode>env:Server</faultcode><faultstring>Error creating target: pxWsLang.WsLangUser</faultstring><faultactor></faultactor></env:Fault></env:Body></env:Envelope>
    In the DOS window for the OC4J I get the following error :

    The PL/SQL code is as follows :
    Object:

    SYMBOL VARCHAR2(2)
    Collection:
    CREATE OR REPLACE Type PAM_LanguageTable as Table of PAM_LanguageRecord;
    Package body :
    create or replace package body PAM_TEST is

    cursor cur is select * from stc_languages;
    begin
    Res_LangTable := new PAM_LanguageTable();
    for Rec in cur loop
    Res_LangTable.Extend(1);
    Res_LangTable(cur%ROWCOUNT) := new PAM_LanguageRecord
    (Rec.NR,
    Rec.SYMBOL
    end loop;
    Return Res_LangTable;
    end;
    end;
    I'm using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.1.0.3984
    How can I get this to work ? (without using Apache Axis or other tools :-)
    Is it supposed to work ?
    Many Thanks

  • SQL Server 2008 Reporting Project - Invoke/Consume Web Service and Return Dataset in C# Code-Behind

    Hello,
    I have a Visual Studio 2010 C# class with a method that invokes/consumes a web service and returns an XML dataset. I am traversing through the parent/child nodes and parsing out the data then inserting it into a SQL Server 2008 R2 table for a join within
    another stored procedure.
    Instead of using a 3rd party API to generate the PDF for this data, I am creating an SSRS report. The formatting will be easier and I can do a RenderFormat directly to PDF.
    Can I expect to be able to transfer the code-behind method to this report and have it be able to work with the web service the same way? It is a SOAP-based web service returning parent nodes and two levels of nested child nodes.
    I have also been researching the approach of calling the web service in the same stored procedure that is currently querying the physical tables (which is used to populate a gridview and PDF) but it looks like it may only be possible with a CLR stored procedure.
    Is it possible to implement a CLR stored procedure within an SSRS report?
    Hope this makes sense. Any help, suggestion or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Buster

    Hi Buster,
    SSRS supports web service data source, we can call the SOAP-based web service in SSRS report directly. Then, we can use custom code in SSRS to parse the XML data. However, we won’t be able to join another data in SQL Server database.
    Reference:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964129(v=sql.90).aspx#repservxmlds_topic3
    We cannot implement a CLR stored procedure within an SSRS report directly. In order to execute the CLR store procedure in a SSRS report, we have to execute it as text using the following code:
    Exec <stored procedure name>

  • Web service and java Axis

    Hi everybody
    I'm trying to query a web service like that on http://www.webservicex.net/stockquote.asmx
    and I'm using axis-1_4 API but without success!
    I wrote a class with this code:
         Call call = (Call)service.createCall();
         call.setTargetEndpointAddress(new URL("http://www.webservicex.net/stockquote.asmx"));
         call.setUseSOAPAction(true);
         call.setSOAPActionURI("http://www.webserviceX.NET");
         call.setOperationName( "GetQuote");
         String ret = (String)call.invoke(new Object[]{ "FORD" });
         System.out.println("output returned: " + ret);
    The response is:

    Have I forget to set some other property to the object Call or other reason?
    If anybody have had the some problem can help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Gianni

    I have found that the older Axis 1.x has some issues talking to anything .NET. My first suggestion would be to go to the latest, which I believe is Axis 2.0. I have some clients that consume my webservices with .NET, and I remember I had to change the messaging type to get it to work...big pain in the rear.

    Hi,
    there should be a result iterator in the Executables section which cotnains the result. If not, create it from the WS result entry in the DC palette. Once this iterator gets updated, you get the data from this iterator as it would be the case of a table accesses the WS

  • ABAP SE37 Web Service and x.509 certificate

    ECC 7.01 EPH 1
    I have created a Web Service from an ABAP function module. I then created a service using SOAMANAGER and have configued it and tested it using Web Navigator. This WS uses no auththentication or username/password.  It also works being consumed from a non-SAP server/application
    I want to have another non-SAP server and application use this WS. Currently the non-SAP  can consume it passing the user/password.
    I now want to have the WS consumed using x.509 certs.
    I have tried multiple methods with no success.
    On the server I have imported using STRUSTS
    Maintain the serveru2019s SSL server PSE.
    Use the trust manager (transaction STRUST) and import the issuing CAu2019s root certificate into this PSEu2019s certificate list.
    Created Web Service communication user, technical type with security roles --> zwebserviceuser
    Cretaed entries in table USREXTID using transaction SM30, view VUSREXTID
    external type = DN
    imported non-SAP server cert into external id
    user = zwebserviceuser
    activated
    Tthe ICM to request a client X.509 certificate. (check icm/HTTPS/verify_client profile parameter) was alreday configued
    I choose tha appropriate security profile for your ABAP web service --> security HIGH
    I choose in SOAMANAGER http authentication and x.509 certificate
    The NON-SAP Server/application is calling the SAP WEBservice and sends the "certificate"
    The RunTime error is
    The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
    Any Help would be appreciated
    thank you,
    Sarah

    Take a kind look on SAP note 495911 to analyse ABAP logon errors.
    Most likely you have forgotten to add the root certificate of the CA which has issued the SSL client certificate (of the WS consumer) to the certificate list of the SSL server PSE (of the NWAS ABAP, acting as WS provider). In that case the SSL handshake will be incomplete: the SSL client certificate will not be requested by NWAS ABAP and thus no SSL client certificate will be send by the WS consumer. That's why no credentials are there resulting in the 401 error.

  • Java app with web service and servlets

    Hi. I intend to make a java application which exposes some methods as a web service and as jsp/servlets. It's core functionality is not really web centric, but its more a java app with a web tier. I am not sure about how the architecture of such a system would look like using the java platform. I currently see three options:
    1. Run everything in a servlet container like tomcat. I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web services. However, it would be really easy just to put everything into tomcat and use ServletContext to maintain some global objects.
    2. Use a Java EE to seperate application/business logic and data access into session beans and entity beans. I hesitate to this because it seem a bit overkill because the system isn't very big or complex right now. It also means that I would have to learn to use EJB's instead of just using some POJOs.
    3. Run the web tier in a servlet container and the main app in a separate JVM, and then connect the tier by sending serialized objects over TCP sockets. I don't like writing network code but at least there is some separation of the tiers.
    What would you do? Maybe I have overlooked a much better solution to the problem?
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) instead of the something quick and dirty that is hard to defend.

    jschell wrote:
    Run everything in a servlet container like tomcatTomcat is a JEE container.Now I am confused. Maybe you mean Glassfish? Tomcat is definitely a web container(?).
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) That pretty much makes it impossible then.
    1. A "Right" solution is generally only proven by time.
    2. It requires a great deal of knowledge about the business domain.Yeah, you are right. Let be try to rephrase it. What solution (pattern) would be considered the most common or appropriate when you have a Java App and want to expose a few methods as a website and web service?
    I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web servicesHuh? Do you already have an exposed web service? If you already have a server which other clients communicate then where does this functionality that you don't want to be tomcat running now? Or where do you think that you want to run it? And if you are or do run it somewhere else then tomcat could access it the same way any other client accesses that server.Sorry, that sentence was written badly. I don't have anything right now. What I meant to write was that I will have a lot of application scope data, objects that are kept in memory as long as the server is running, shared by multiple servlet instances.
