Web Services Training?

Does anyone have suggestions or places to go for good training on building a Java Webservice? I've checked out the tutorial, but are there any courses out there as well?

Look at the Sun Training - they have a catalogue online. Usually very good courses and very good instructors.

  • Web Services Related Training

    I need some training in how to consume web services within Oracle Forms, could anyone point me to what course would be most relevant, I have done some of the online tutorials but I feel to get a better grasp of it, and creating stubs in J Developer I think a low level course will be needed.
    On that note we will also need to be able to write web services and I would like to take my OCA in a relevant pathway
    can anyone help me.

    Oracle University learning paths are tailored to job roles so you can see at a glance the courses that are recommended for a specific role. Each path suggests a sequence of courses that provide the knowledge and skills needed for on-the-job expertise.

  • LSO Web Services Interfacing with Training vendors?

    Hello All,
    Has anyone implemented the LSO Web Services. We're on LSO300 so our options are the enroll, un-enroll and launch services. If we'de want to track we would need to write our own. Just wnat to get people's experiences as far as implementation. How much work needed to adapt to vendor services, implementation times to adapt existing service, create new. Has anyone gone beyond the provided services to create their own? What about file/ftp interfacing for data loads? Any real life experiences appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Thanks Sharon,
    We won't be upgrading soon and regardless won't be using PI as we're a BizTalk shop. I'm trying to pinpoint scenarios under which WebService based integration would be a more obvious decision.
    - Use of a single training vendor would simplify things. I'm finding little common ground among a few vendors AP uses as far as their support for services and what they look like. A complication and increased $$$$.
    - Use of PI to at least match what SAP delivers and leverage any integrations they provide with key vendors. We won't be using PI.
    - An excuse to dabble in this area. We could use that.
    Does this sound like a fair read so far? I'm charged with investigating all options as part of this project and have done that, but am honestly not seeing any great benefit in pursuing services at this point. We'll probably wind up getting flat files back from vendors and loading that way.
    Thanks for the insights.

    Hi Gurus
    I am using BIWS to build my Xcelsius dashboards . When i building a webservice from webi report having two data providers named fact & dim and i merging two data providers and the result i am using in a report.
    The Fact data providers contains a query filters with 'OR' conditions applied in it.
    when i test this webservice with the values it always displaying the last refreshed instance of report even i purge the data before building web service.
    Could you please let me know is any one faced this issue. I am using Webi rich client 12.3.1 version
    Note *: The web service works fine if i am using query filters with  'AND'  condition.

  • Calling an R model via a web service - "Error in raw connection", "all connections are in use"

    Hi there,
    I have built an R model in Azure ML using the "Create R model" module and have trained it, turned it into a scoring experiment and a web service. I am now sending new data to it to be scored from an Excel workbook, and getting it to return
    the prediction to the same workbook. Sometimes (but not always) when I try to run it from the workbook I get the following error:
    {"error:{"code":"LibraryExecutionError","message":"Module execution encountered an internal library error.","details":[{"code":"FailedToEvaluateRScript","target":"Score Model (RPackage)","message":"The following error occurred during the evaluation of R script: R_tryEval: return error: Error in rawConnection (raw(0),\"wb\"):all connections are in use \n"}]}}
    Usually, if you just press "OK", it works, but then sometimes it comes up again (seems quite random). I have tried a bit of troubleshooting and know that when you open lots of connections (e.g. with connections()) in R this error can occur, but
    I'm not sure why in this context the error is coming up. Also, before this error I was getting the error regarding "cannot change value of locked binding for 'dataset'" described here:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/e20b8cbf-2e89-4898-b602-d2138bf8901c/cannot-change-value-of-locked-binding-for-dataset?forum=MachineLearning
    and so I made the suggested fix, adding
    unlockBinding("dataset", environment())
    to my Create R Model's Score script. I don't know whether this has anything to do with it or not?
    Could anyone offer advice of how to get round this?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    I've solved the problem. For the record I added:
    closeAllConnections()
    at the end of the R scoring script (and at the end of another R-script I was using higher up the pipeline) and that seemed to do the trick.
    Still, I'm intrigued as to why this was necessary.

  • How to prevent downloading wsdl in weblogic web service client

    Hi,
    I get a problem regarding weblogic web service client. My working environment:
    weblogic server 8.1
    Windows XP SP2
    JDK 1.4
    I use the weblogic tool to generate the client jar file from the wsdl file.
         <target name="generate-client">
              <clientgen wsdl="ACCESS.wsdl"
                   packageName="xxxxxx.client"
                   clientJar="${client}/${AccessClient_jar_file}"
                   keepGenerated="true"
                   saveWSDL="true"
              />
              <javac srcdir="${source}"
              destdir="${client}"
              includes="**/AccessClient.java">
              <classpath>
              <pathelement path="${client}/${AccessClient_jar_file}"/>
              </classpath>
              </javac>
         </target>
    After that, I create a client java file to invoke the service deploy in the server.
    public static void main(String[] argv)
    throws Exception
         int transactionId = 100;
         int id = 1000;
    // Setup the global JAXM message factory
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.soap.MessageFactory", "weblogic.webservice.core.soap.MessageFactoryImpl");
    // Setup the global JAX-RPC service factory
    System.setProperty( "javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory", "weblogic.webservice.core.rpc.ServiceFactoryImpl");
    AccessServicePorts ws = new AccessServicePorts_Impl(argv[0]);
    AccessService port = ws.getAccessService();
    // Resource - create
    Resource resource = new Resource();
    resource.setRES_CD("Create ResCo");
    resource.setCODE_CODE("code_cod");
    resource.setRES_TYPE("Resource typ");
    resource.setCOMMON_FIELD(common);
    AccessDefaultResult resultItems = port.createResource(resource);
    System.out.println("createResource : " + resultItems);
    I find that this web service client always issue 2 http requests to invoke an web service method deployed in server.
    1st http reqeust:
    GET /AccessEpol/EpolServiceSoap?WSDL HTTP/1.1
    User-Agent: Java/1.4.2_08
    Host: 127.0.0.1:8001
    Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2
    Connection: keep-alive
    the return result is the wsdl downloaded from the server.
    2nd http request is the real web service request.
    The question is how could I eliminate the 1st http request because it's really unnecessary. I use other web service client like Axis 1.x, Axis client never has the http request to download the wsdl from the server.
    I read through weblogic web service document. It do mentions that put saveWSDL="true" in the clientgen ant task. the default value for saveWSDL is true already. I did try saveWSDL="false" also. None of them can eliminate the 1st http request.
    appreciate for any answer my question?

    Hi David,
    thanks for the reply.
    More or less I agree some points you mentioned above.
    I did use Axis 1.x to test the inter-operability. The web service was developed in Weblogic 8.1 and is a part of an existing web application. It will be merged to existing application deployed in weblogic 8.1.
    I also program the web service client to test the web service.
    The implementation of the server and client will be handed over the project team and training for supporting or continuous development have to be conducted by me. So I don't like to use two types of technologies which will make thing complex.
    I found this issue when I tried to protected the web service endpoint, eg http://localhost:7001/epol/service, using the web application Basic mechanism. The wsdl URL http://localhost:7001/epol/service?WSDL is also protected in this case. Unfortunately the username/password pair is not sent to the server when the weblogic client download the WSDL from the server. In this case, the client failed and throw exception.

  • Error while testing External Web Service Integration

    I'm getting an error when I try to test an external webservice from Studio. After performing the steps to create an external webservice integration with SOAP, When I right-click on the .wsid file and choose "Test Service Operations" and chose the communication scenario and submit request, I get an error "A technical error error occured AP-RC-BDS-WS".

  • Web services Development

    A general question for the group (sorry if this is off-topic, if there's a better
    forum for this type of Q let me know).
    I'm a web services and web app developer who is new to BEA. In the past I've used
    toolkits like Axis for web services and I've always preferred this approach. It
    seems to me that using BEA I can develop Web Services in one of two ways. The
    'low-level' way where I could use the command line tools (or ant) to create, deploy
    and manage the code, or I could use WLW and the nice attribute driven approach.
    It strikes me (on first blush) that these techniques are not compatible, so if
    I choose one I have to stick with that, and I shouldn't (can't) mix and match
    the two.
    As a relative newcomer to this community which one should I choose?
    Which are people out there using?
    Can the approaches me mixed?
    What implications does using one or the other have in terms of deployment and
    the type of WLS I have installed?
    Again sorry if this is off topic, or an RTFM. If either of these is the case pointers
    to the FM would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin Jones

    I think if you are looking for training in "BEA web services" then do
    it the WLW way.
    However, if you think your web service may be deployed to a non-BEA
    app server, then pick up the standards.
    This is true for regular web apps using struts vs. WLW's 'netui'
    and JSR 162 vs. WLW Portals as well.

    Thanks Michael,
    anybody else have any comments?
    For example if you were looking for training in BEA web services would you expect
    it to be WLW or 'command line' based?

    Hi Kevin,
    The two web services development approaches are for two different audiences,
    so
    it's up to you to select which is more to your liking :-)
    Developers who are familiar with the Apache Axis Web Services Platform,
    will find
    lots of similarities in the Ant-scrpt based approach that the WLS 8.1
    Web Services
    Platform uses. This would also be the environment for those that really
    like to
    see that their code uses classes from a standard, like JAX-RPC or SAAJ.
    Workshop is really targeted at developers who are less interested in
    the mechanics
    of Web service construction, and more interested in what they want the
    web service
    to do. It offers developers with this mindset, almost complete isolation
    from
    the technologies associated with web service development (i.e. SOAP,
    WSDL, XML,
    etc.), while still producing a deployable web service that can interoperate
    with
    web services created by other Web Service stacks.
    Again, both of these approaches have healthy developer audiences, so
    I see no
    real reason to promote one over the other. Personally, I think it makes
    sense
    to become adept at both.
    All in all, I'd have to say that Workshop makes better use of the developer's
    time :-)

  • Getting the Request Object in the EJB published as a Web Service

    Hi experts,
    I have a Portal Service that call a BAPI in a back-end system with the Connector Framework. I have a Portal Component that calls the Portal Service, passing the Locale (request.getLocale()) and the User (request.getUser()) object. It's work fine!
    I need to call the Portal Service by an EJB that is published as a Web Service. The connection between the EJB and Portal Service is ok, but I don't know how to get the Locale and the User object in the EJB to pass to the Portal Service.
    Is possible to get the request object from the HTTP SOAP Request?
    Thanks,
    Gustavo

    Hey Alice!
    The Feature Hashing module is actually a wrapper around
    Vowpal Wabbit's implementation of the murmurhash. Thus, it takes text in, and produces 2^N new features based on the text, where N is the bitsize specified in the module. These features (and not the original text!) should be used during model training.
    The Learner will then keep track of these features behind the scenes.
    When you publish your web service and these features are recomputed for new input text (same N), they are used as the features for scoring.
    Does that make sense?

  • Loading Sharepoint Web Services XML List into WPF DataGrid

     trying to populate my DataGrid with the returned list from a Sharepoint Web Services, all of the tutorials/guides I've found go about doing this with a XAML file.

    The XML is in a friendly format to read into a DataSet, which can then be bound to your data grid control.
    You will need to clean up some of the data. Data from dropdowns, people pickers, etc. will have an "id" prefix. (31;#Heidy Valdes) You could cleanup the XML first, clean the data in the column of the data table or write an event handler on
    the load event of the grid.
    Load the XML to the grid something like:
    XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(yourXMLnode.OuterXml, XmlNodeType.Element, null);
    DataSet ds = new DataSet();
    ds.ReadXml(reader);
    yourGrid.DataSource = ds.Tables[1];
    Note: ds.Tables[0] contains the record count.

  • Web Services URI - How do we find it?

    Hi gurus
    What is Web Services URI? How does the link look like?
    Can someone navigate me after going in Web Services Navigator in http://<Server Name>:<Port Number>/index.html
    You need web services URI when you create connectors, fill  the Parameters values in connector, when you configure connector while configuring Training and Verification system.
    Can someone help?

    Chinmaya
    Can you send me the web service URI example
    for e.g http://<server name>/Port number/XXXXXX etc
    Maybe go in your CUP->connector and copy paste a connector you have configured for provisioning Portal. Just an example
    I have the following folders so its confusing. I don't have anything starting with AE. We are on 5.3 version

  • Parsing xml returned by web service

    I am calling a web service from flash and the web service
    returns xml. The xml gets urlencoded when it's put inside the soap
    wrapping xml and I'm not sure how to get rid of the soap wrapping
    and unencode the returned xml. Thanks.

    Hi vtxr1300,
    I'm not sure if you meant to say "urlencoding" because that
    looks more
    like this:
    ?title=This is a test title&description=This is a test
    description of item 1
    What you're looking at here is pure XML (with namespaces but
    you can
    ignore them for the most part...we know this is SOAP!).
    Since you posted this in the ActionScript 3 forum, I'll
    assume you'll
    want AS3 code to deal with this. Luckily, AS 3 has made it
    incredibly easy
    to extract whetever you need out of this.
    First, you just need to get this data into a standard XML
    object is it's
    not already. So..something like this:
    //xString is your XML data...SOAP return data, string, or
    whatever
    var myXML:XML=new XML(xString.toString());
    The XML object retains its nesting properties so that, for
    example, to
    access the first '<desc>' node, you must access
    '<module>' before it,
    '<modules>' before that, and so on. This is
    accomplished using the "child"
    method associated with the XML object which uses the node
    name as a
    parameter. For the '<desc>' node, for example, this
    would look like:
    myXML.child("Body").child("GetTrainingResponse").child("GetTrainingResult").child("traini ng").child("modules").child("modile").child("desc");
    A bit lengthy, but it gets the job done. Typically I would
    store s
    reference to each of the resulting "child" calls. this has
    two benefits and
    uses: It's easier to organize and easier to read than one
    long instruction,
    and it allows you to parse through multiple nodes. Each
    "child" call returns
    an XMLList object, not necessarily a single node. If there
    are multiple
    sibling nodes with the same name, for example, calling the
    "child" method
    will return an XMLList with two object nodes, not just one.
    An XMLList can
    be used much like an array so you can simply loop through the
    results to see
    all of the nodes.
    The notation for ActionScript 3 has changed a bit for node
    attributes.
    An attribute name is now referenced via an '@' symbol. For
    example, to get
    the 'xmlns' attribute of the '<GetTrainingResponse>'
    node, you would use:
    myXML.child("Body").child("GetTrainingResponse").@xmlns;
    Finally, it's worthwhile noting that the XML container
    obejct reference
    has changed. In ActionScript 2.0, an XML object would point
    to the XML
    document. The "firstChild" property of the XML object would
    point to the
    first node ('<soap>' in this instance). In ActionScript
    3.0, the XML object
    point to the first node so that the first child of the object
    in this
    instance would be the '<soap:Body>' node.
    As mentioned, you can usually ignore namespaces for objects
    you're
    familiar with. The "soap" namespace, for example, can be
    assumed since we
    know this is a SOAP response.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting client and web services with aqualogic

    Hello, im engineer in training period at Unilog (Lyon,France) and im tesing aqualogic for evaluation
    im nearly beginner in .NET and ESB and completely beginner in aqualogic, i have 1 problem :
    i want to test communication between my .NET client and webservice, through Aqualogic.
    i made some configuration but i wonder if its the right solution:
    i created a proxy service with a pipeline pair node and a route node directed to registered business service.
    But i dont know exactly how to connect my .NET client with aqualogic proxy service.
    My client code is :
    private void btnConnect_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
    Annu.Service1 oAnnu = new Annu.Service1();
    oAnnu.Url = "http://localhost/WebService1/Service1.asmx";
    string t = oAnnu.Tel("Dupont");
    TextBox1.Text = t;
    (this client code works without aqualogic, Annu is my Web reference to my web service)
    Many thx again, cordially,
    Pascal Camellini.

    At the time of creating proxy service you should have filled endpoint url which is different from business service. Place the end point url of the proxy service in the client code url what you have written.
    Follow the above step it will work properly

  • External Business Component vs Web Service

    Hello,
    We are using Siebel 8.1 and we are in need of referencing data in a external data source (DB2) that needs to present in a read only format this information within Siebel. We are trying to find the best path based on using
    1. External Business Component
    2. Obtain the data when needed via a web service
    Option 1 is described in the training materials we have from the training courses we've taken, but web services are the corporate standard, since using a web service would insulate the Siebel application from changes that happen to the external database and would be reusable.
    So far, we have been unable to determine how to call a web service from an applet that displays the data. The closest we've been able to come is to create a task flow to run the web service, and then place the data into a transient business component.
    Does anyone have any recommendations or past experiences related to this they can share for the best path?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
    As you said you would be using web service approach. I feel following would be good method to display web service data in Siebel Applets
    1.     Create Virtual Business Component (VBC)
    2.     Create Applet Based on VBC
    3.     Create Customer Business Service which will call web service and display data in applet
    You can use “SIA Billing Extern Service” to minimize script. This Service uses input output in the form of integration object structure. So using it you can directly map web service output to VBC fields.
    Thank you,
    Sharad

  • Understanding how to create Web Services

    Hi,
    I am new to Web Services and was wondering if someone has an easy documentation on how to start doing it. The Web Services LIbrary under Training and Support is really all about Web Applets and not Web Services. And browsing just Web Services gives a sample code which does not have a READ ME.
    I can download the WSDL file but what do i do after that? What other tools do i need to get started?
    appreciate all the help. planning to query a total value from oppo product revenue then update oppo custom field.

    Hi,
     As per your posting and my understanding, you wanted to communicate your infopath with SharePoint list/library. Please refer the below link(s) which may help you to solve your issue.
