Web Services Related Training

I need some training in how to consume web services within Oracle Forms, could anyone point me to what course would be most relevant, I have done some of the online tutorials but I feel to get a better grasp of it, and creating stubs in J Developer I think a low level course will be needed.
On that note we will also need to be able to write web services and I would like to take my OCA in a relevant pathway
can anyone help me.

  • Process Control v Service Broker v Web Service relative performance

    Does anyone have any rough performance metrics comparing the invocation mechanism for a WLI process flow from a portal application in 8.1. I am assuming that invoking a process flow from a portal application using Web Services will be less performant than using a Process Control, but i am trying to get a handle on roughly how much slower, and if there are any other issues involved
    Cheers
    Matt

    I get the following from the log:
    Error: 50000, Unrecoverable error in procedure: 7437: Linked servers cannot be used under impersonation without a mapping for the impersonated login.
    So, I added the following to the linked server definition:
    sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'loopback'
    ,@useself = 'FALSE'
    ,@locallogin = 'sa'
    ,@rmtuser = 'sa'
    ,@rmtpassword = 'xxxxxx'
    go
    But the error message in the log remains the same. I also tried @useself = 'TRUE', with the same result...
    Any suggestions?

  • Error while deploying a web service whose return type is java.util.Date

    Hi
    I have written a simple web service which takes in a date input (java.util.Date) and returns the same date back to the client.
    public interface Ping extends Remote
    * A simple method that pings the server to test the webservice.
    * It sends a datetime to the server which returns the datetime.
    * @param pingDateRequest A datetime sent to the server
    * @returns The original datetime
    public Date ping(Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException;
    The generation of the Web service related files goes smoothly in JDeveloper 10g. The problem arises when I try to deploy this web service on the Oracle 10g (10.0.3) OC4J standalone. it gives me the following error on the OC4J console :
    E:\Oracle\oc4j1003\j2ee\home\application-deployments\Sachin-TradingEngineWS-WS\

    I read somewhere that the conversion between java to xml datatype and vice versa fails for java.util.Date, so it is better to use java.util.Calendar. When I change the code to return a java.util.Calendar then the JDeveloper prompts me the following failure:
    Method Ping: the following parameter types do not have an XML Schema mapping and/or serializer specified : java.util.Calendar.
    This forces me to return a String data.
    I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
    Thanks

    Hi
    I got the web service working with some work around. But I am not sure it this approach would be right and good.
    I started altogether afresh. I did the following step :
    1. Created an Interface (Ping.java) for use in web Service as follows :
    public interface Ping extends Remote{
    public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest)
    throws RemoteException;
    2. Implemented the above interface in PingImpl.java as follows :
    public class PingImpl implements Ping
    public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
    System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
    return pingDateRequest;
    3. Compiled the above 2 java files.
    4. Generated a Stateless Java Web Service with the help of JDeveloper. This time the generation was sucessful.(If I had "java.util.Calendar" in place of "java.util.Date" in the java code of the above mentioned files the web service generation would prompt me for error)
    5. After the generation of Web Service, I made modification to the Ping interface and its implementing class. In both the files I replaced "java.util.Date" with "java.util.Calendar". The modified java will look as follows :
    Ping.Java
    =========
    public interface Ping extends Remote{
    public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest)
    throws RemoteException;
    PingImpl.Java
    ================
    public class PingImpl implements Ping
    public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
    System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
    return pingDateRequest;
    6. Now I recompile both the java files.
    7. Withour regenerating the Web Service I deploy the Web Service on OC4j 10.0.3 from JDeveloper. This time the deployment was sucessful.(The Deployment fails if I don't follow the step 5.)
    8. Now I generated a Stub from JDeveloper and accessed the stub from a client. It works fine. Here if you see the Stub code it takes java.util.Date as a parameter and returns a java.util.Date. (Mind you I am accepting a java.util.Calendar and returning the same in my Web Service interface. Step 5)
    The confusing thing is the Serialization and Deserialization of Data from Client java data to Soap message and Soap message to Server java data.
    From Client to SOAP :
    java.util.Date to datetime
    From SOAP to Server :
    datetime to java.util.Calendar
    From Server to SOAP :
    java.util.Calendar to datetime
    From SOAP to Client :
    datetime to java.util.Date (I am not able to understand this part of the conversion)
    Any help or inputs would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sachin Mathias

  • Web Service do not work after save in Designer ES2 SP1

    Dear all,
    I am trying to migrate 8.2.1 process to ES2.
    Although it have some bugs, but the process are working fine when using ES2 without any SP.
    One day we installed SP1 for ES2 and hopeing for some bugs we found fixed, but find none of them fixed... oh well, so we continue the migration.
    And the problem happen when we try to modify the form for some testing, we find that even we *did not* modify anything in the form, if we pressed the save button and deploy the form, all the web service related code in the form will stop working.
    Anyone have any idea about this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Bill

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
    Already tried to update the dataconnection by right click at data view, and choice "Refresh Data View", but that doesn't help, would like to know are there any others way to do so?
    I already open a case with the support, but it seem that the engineer in APAC region have a very slow response time...
    Just wonder if I can send the case to others support center with better response time.
    I tried to compare the form before and after save and find that some information may missing in the post-SP1 form.
    In the pre-SP1 from, I can find a <dd:dataDescription> section for every web service used in the form, but in the post-SP1 form they are missing.
    I tried to add that section back and it will make the web service usable again, but the problem is I need to do that every times I modify anything, and I also need to create this section for a every new web service added to the form...

  • Implementing Web Service with Stateless Session Bean

    I have a web service that I've built using the WorkSpace Studio tools (create a WSDL, generate the Java code from the WSDL, fill in the skeleton methods in the service implementation class). This service is deployed as a web module within an EAR to WebLogic Server 10.0 and is working great as a web service.
    I'd like to be able to also call the operations on this service via an EJB interface (from a different application on the same server). I followed the guidelines for adding EJB annotations to the web service implementation class (from [http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/webserv/jws.html#wp215790]). I added the @Session annotation to the class, implemented javax.ejb.SessionBean, and added the ejbXXX() methods. This all makes perfect sense, and looked like it was going to work. However, WorkSpace Studio now gives me a compile error on the class that says "EJB backed WebServices are not supported."
    A few internet searches for that error didn't return anything relevant.
    It seems like I followed the instructions correctly. Is there a better way to build a service like this that is both a web service endpoint and a stateless session bean?
    Thanks!
    -Eric

    Having separate EJB and web modules certainly makes things easier, but I have non-trivial (i.e. not feasible to copy) application logic that I'd like to expose with both a bean interface (for intra-application usage) and a web service interface (for public consumption).
    I've tried starting with a "web application" WorkSpace Studio project and adding bean annotations. This produces the error I originally described. I also tried starting with an "EJB" WorkSpace Studio project and adding web service annotations. This fails at deployment time with errors about missing web service descriptors (the error is correct - the web-service-related descriptor elements are missing from the deployment descriptors).
    The documentation explicitly presents this as an option (annotating a class with both web service and session bean annotations), but how does one actually make this work?

  • Reg: Web Services

    Hi!
      This is Srinivas. I want information regarding web services.
    Where we are using Web Services in SAP XI ? and
    How to Use ? If any steps are there regarding any procedure of How to use and web Services document Kindly sent it to my Mail ID::[email protected]

    Hi Srini,
    <b>Where we are using Web Services in SAP XI ?</b>
    we use SOAP adapter to communicate with Webservice...
    -> Some remote clients or Web services providers are only able to communicate by means of SOAP messages
    ->SOAP adapter enables you to exchange SOAP message between remote clients and Web Service Servers and the Integration Server.
    -> The SOAP Adapter provides a runtime environment that includes various SOAP components for the processing of SOAP message.
    -> You use the SOAP adapter to connect such systems to the Integration Server directly
    -> The SOAP adapter uses a helper class to instantiate and control these SOAP components
    ->The SOAP adapter receives a msg from the remote client or Web service provider, converts the SOAP protocol into XI msg protocol and then sends the msg to the Integration Server to be processed further.
    <b>How to Use ?</b>
    If you want to expose a websevice then we have to chose outbound interface and expose it as webservice to the outside world, so anyone can call your webservice. Please follow stefan's weblog

  • Difference between  a WEB service and a Enterprise Service?

    Can Anybody explain me the difference between  a WEB service and a Enterprise Service?

    Hi Anilkumar K Naidu ,
    Web service
    A Web service is a self-contained, modularized functionality, which can be published, discovered, and accessed across a network using open standards and which is supported by SAP NetWeaver. Web services cover services provision for integration within an enterprise as well as cross enterprises on top of any communication technology stack, whether asynchronous or synchronous, in any format.
    Web Services in the NetWeaver framework play an important role in facilitating the integration of disparate applications from various departments or trading partners and thus increasing business productivity. This benefit allows small and medium businesses also to integrate their business applications with larger trading partners. The benefit derived from this seamless integration introduces security concerns when all the business logic is now being exposed through a standard interface that is a catalyst for security vulnerabilities. SAP Security Managers must use automated diagnostics tools to ensure that the security vulnerabilities are caught in pre-production and in post-production phase.

    Enterprise Service
    Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA)
    Enterprise SOA is a blueprint for an adaptable, flexible, and open IT architecture for developing services-based, enterprise-scale business solutions. With SAP NetWeaver as a technical foundation, enterprise SOA moves IT architectures to higher levels of adaptability – and moves companies closer to the vision of real-time enterprises by elevating Web services to an enterprise level.
    An enterprise service is typically a series of Web services combined with business logic that can be accessed and used repeatedly to support a particular business process. Aggregating Web services into business-level enterprise services provides a more meaningful foundation for the task of automating enterprise-scale business scenarios.

  • Info about Web Services

    Hi Guys,
            I am new to webservices. My company wants to implement it for doing few things:
    1. we should be able to create a vendor / change vendor information and do the vendor inquiry?

  • Web Services - Uploading Related Accounts

    Hi,
    I'm having a few problems uploading Related Accounts through web services. I'm using the AccountInsertOrUpdate method on the Account service from a .NET client (this is something that worked in earlier versions of Siebel OnDemand). The exception I get back is:
    "Cannot perform NewRecord on the business component 'VONDMED Account Relationship'(SBL-EAI-04421)"
    I've looked around in other forums / support web for Siebel Enterprise, and the consensus for this type of error message is that this is to do with the configuration of the EAI components Siebel side.
    Soap Trace:

    <RelatedAccountExternalId>D16726</RelatedAccountExternalId>

    <RelationshipRole>Department to Hospital</RelationshipRole>

    </ListOfRelatedAccount>
    </Account>
    </ListOfAccount>
    </AccountWS_AccountInsertOrUpdate_Input>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    Has anyone else run into this type of issue?

    Hi, I've seen this error on other projects I've worked on. This typically has to do with permission. Make sure that your role has permissions to create these records. If you know he AccountId you do not need to provide the ExternalSystemId in the SOAP request.

  • LSO Web Services Interfacing with Training vendors?

    Hello All,
    Has anyone implemented the LSO Web Services. We're on LSO300 so our options are the enroll, un-enroll and launch services. If we'de want to track we would need to write our own. Just wnat to get people's experiences as far as implementation. How much work needed to adapt to vendor services, implementation times to adapt existing service, create new. Has anyone gone beyond the provided services to create their own? What about file/ftp interfacing for data loads? Any real life experiences appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Thanks Sharon,
    We won't be upgrading soon and regardless won't be using PI as we're a BizTalk shop. I'm trying to pinpoint scenarios under which WebService based integration would be a more obvious decision.
    - Use of a single training vendor would simplify things. I'm finding little common ground among a few vendors AP uses as far as their support for services and what they look like. A complication and increased $$$$.
    - Use of PI to at least match what SAP delivers and leverage any integrations they provide with key vendors. We won't be using PI.
    - An excuse to dabble in this area. We could use that.
    Does this sound like a fair read so far? I'm charged with investigating all options as part of this project and have done that, but am honestly not seeing any great benefit in pursuing services at this point. We'll probably wind up getting flat files back from vendors and loading that way.
    Thanks for the insights.
    Doug
