Web Template - Using two Queries

Hi Gurus,
Can I use one web template, using two or more queries? And What web iten I need check for don't appear twice the variable ?
Tks,
Magani

Hi,
You can use one or more than one query in a web template.
Keep in mind that you have a relation one to one betweeen Table (Web Item) with Query, if you want to include 5 query, you will nedd 5 Tables (Web items), and you have to configure in every sigle table the corresponding query that you want to browse.

i am  looking for a code based article  which has step by step process which provides how to add the site features, web features and attach the eventreceivers etc etc on sitecollection creation when i apply this template from central admin.
can anyone provide me any links / any source how to create a custom web template with one / two  custom features -  site features element and web features element , / master page etc ....
I am stuck with this. as part of my reqmnt, i need to create a webtemplate with all the customlistinstances, custompagelayouts, custom masterpages, custom appln pages, custom web parts.
    help is appreciated !

The problem is that Web Templates are deployed to a gallery in a site collection and aren't available in Central Admin when creating a new site collection.  YOu have to create the site collection without choosing a template and then choose your web
template when you first access the root site in the site collection.  Here's an article that discusses that process here:
    http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2011/02/10/using-web-templates-to-create-site-collections.aspx
Other than that Vesa's article is still the best one and works essentially the same in 2013 as it does in 2010.

  • Security for creating web templates using web application designer

I work for ChevronTexaco as a BW Security Analyst. I have a request to set up roles for web template creation using the Web Application Designer. Where can I get help in setting up the security for these types of roles? My experience is in setting up roles for running and creating queries in BEX. I need to know what additional authorizations will enable web template creation. Setting up a trace in ST01 has been less than helpful since it dumps out tons of RS_COMP tracing that doesn't help me much.
The user wants to be able to create web templates for existing queries in BEX and restrict by rs_comp infocubes/areas/reportid, etc. and to be able to save to restricted role names. Are there new auth groups specific to this type of activity that I need to code for in addition to the basic end user or report builder authorizations?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Marc, I'll check it out. My problem was that I was trying to create the role by granting a userid sap_all, sap_new and s.a_system as well as power user auths for a specific application. I set up a trace in ST01 for authorization cking on the ID while one of our BW Central Support people went into Web Designer to create a template and everything else they wanted to do.
The resulting trace spewed out so much stuff from S_RS_comp and comp1 as to be virtually useless since it named scores of different cubes and infoareas that the analyst wasn't even interested in. The results puzzled me and made it extremely difficult to pin down the required authorizations. Usually ST01 can be used as a blueprint to create the role,ie; everything that the user touches is traced but no more than that. Have you seen this before? With just the new role I had set up the user could not save to a role unless I coded the fully qualified role name such as YRH_SENDAT_USER. YRH* would not work.

  • Printing on Web - web template with multiple queries

    Hi.
Trying to print to PDF from the Web, when I have more than 1 query in the web template, using Tabs.
When the report has been run, if I select the tab for report A and then Print, I need report A to be printed. Similarly, if I have selected the tab for report B I expect report B to be printed.
Is this possible without resorting to HTML coding direct? If so, can you tell me how, please? I have no problem printing single queries, the issue is how to print different reports without having several Print buttons. If it CAN only be done by HTML coding, could you send me some sample code please?
As well as offering points for useful answers, I can also offer my Word document where I have broken 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN in to its components, with screenshots... I have found it invaluable.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

The answer was to use the Tabstrip web item... although I still have to define a set of buttons for each tab, only one set is visible at a time, which is fine

  • Display message on a web template for specific queries

    Hi all,
We're trying to find a way of displaying a message in our standard web template (0ADHOC) in order to warn users about issues concerning specific queries (availability of data, maintenance...). So, we would like to establish one message for some querys and be able to display it in our web template only if availabe.
We faced this requirement with 2 different options, but none is working perfectly:
1.- Add a Single Document web item to 0ADHOC_HEADER web template in order to display a document related to our InfoProvider. Issues that appear:
        - Warning messages need to be suppressed because when query doesn't have a related document, an horrible warning message is displayed.
        - InfoProvider related documents need to be established for each calendar month, so we're not able of establishing a document that can be correct for all months on the InfoProvider. So, document only appears if user sets a specific calendar month filter. If he doesn't set any filters, document is not displayed.
2.- Use callquerydoc() in 0ADHOC in order to call query documentation on a new window when web template is loaded. Issues that appear:
        - If the query doesn't have a related document, we won't like the new window to appear (because it shows an error about not finding documentation).
        - No matter where I put the call to that JavaScript function, but each time you press a button or change something when executing the query, new window appears again.
Could someone give me solutions for issues of at least one of these two options?
If you have other suggestions to achieve our goal, please let me know.
    Thanks and best regards,
    David.

Hi there, any replies? Should I summarize my question?
How do you notify users when data is not reliable? (caused by, for instance, data loading errors, query maintenance... so on).
I once used system messages (sm02) to notify all those data failures, but now we want the notification not to be global, but to be specific for some user groups (or query groups), and visible when they execute any query.
    Thanks again,
    David.

  • Web Template with two dataproviders ! Provided in url !

    Hello,
I would like to create a standard web template more or less according to the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (Web Analyzer) with some standard features like Buttons, Charts and Table-View, etc.
In the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (when you execute your query from the BEx QueryDesigner in the web) the query name is provided as a parameter in the url like
...&QUERY=PSD_MONTHLY_REPORT. The web templates then uses this query as data provider. This is also possible for any other web template.
My problem is that I have always two different data providers for chart and analysis item. Unfortunately it is not possible to supply more than one QUERY-Parameter in the URL.
Has anyone of you come across such a problem?
    Any ideas are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Heiko

    Hi,
This is an old thread, but I have a solution for your problem :o)
What you need to do, is the specify the web template instead of the query - like this: ?TEMPLATE=Z_YOUR_WEBTEMPLATE
Then you add the following syntax:
    &BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE
    &BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1
    &BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_2=DP_2
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1=SELECTION_INPUT_STRING
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING=<your filter value>
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC=<your filter infoobject>
The URL contains a reference to two different dataproviders in your web template and will filter both.

  • Web Template Using Global View for Hierarchy Level Display Only

    Hi,
I have a requirement for a report that will display a hierarchy with differing detail depending on level example
    Level A
            A1
            A2
    Level B
    Level C
             Level C1
                    Level C1a
                    Level C1b
                    Level C1c
I beleieve I can do this by creating running the Bex Query with broad enough parameters to allow me to get a data set that includes all nodes in the hierarchy and then defining a global view based on that.
    I have two questuions, though,
    1. Is my assumption correct?
    2. If I can do this is there anyway I can set the global view so it only picks up the formatting and not the variable values I used when I run the query? So far when I have been playing with this the web template is prepopulating the variables with values I used to exute the quey before saving it as a global view. Is there any way to turn the prepopulation of the variables off?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Andy

    Hello,
thank you for you quick response. I am sorry, I am already talking about a solution in the 7.0 Landscape. What do you mean by <i>"available standard"</i>? Are you talking about the Web Application Designer? Can you say me where I can find a more detailed description/give me that description yourself?
And how about that thresholds, where do I set them and how can I maintain them? Are they "hard coded"?
Thank you for any further suggestions in advance

  • Odd behavior on web template used to update real-time cubes

    Hello all
This is my first time posting on this forum so please excuse any blunders.
I have a situation wherein 2 queries (one built on an aggregate level which is set up on a multiprovider containing a real-time cube and the other built on an aggregate level set up directly on a real-time cube) are being used to update data. For both of these queries, I'm trying to fill in fields such as user, created by, time, date etc. These fields are being filled in the custom class "ZCL_LOC_CR_LINE_ITEM" and all of the settings are correct for the aggregation level/infoproviders.
However, I'm encountering 2 problems. Firstly, for one of these queries on the web template, the fields I want filled are not getting filled in by the exit. In fact, I put hard-code break points in the exit's DERIVE method but the control is not even going in there. But for the other query, the control flows into the user-exit correctly when I hit the return key after populating all of the remaining characteristic fields on the input screen. Secondly, for the first query, the fields are not input-enabled. But I've set up both queires to be more or less similar in the sense that the fields to be populated in the user-exit are not on the query screen etc. I'm stumped and would appreciate some help from the experts out there.
    Regards
    Sam

Regarding yor first quesiton, if the exit is not being reached, then most likely you have not correctly defined the characteristic relationship in the planning modeler.  For it all to work, go to the planning modeler for the infoprovider that you are deriving the characteristics.  Ensure that your source characteristics are all contained in the aggregatin level being used by the planning query in question.  Also ensure that none of the target characteristics are contained in the aggregation level.
Also, make sure that the "inactive" checkbox is not marked for the individual characteristic relationships.
Note that whether or not the query is on an multiprovider or a real-time sube, the characteristic relationships are always defined directly on the underlying real-time cube.
Regarding the second question, for a query to be input-ready:
-There must be a real-time cube in the query directly (or indirectly via mutliprovider)
-The query must start up in change mode (or be switched into change mode)
-Cell(s) must be defined as input ready either by their settings in the row or column
-Every characteristic in the aggregation level must be fully qualified (including currency,UOM, or any nav attributes used as selections)
    - note that when using a mulitiprovider, it is necessary to specify the real-time infocube name in the planning cell/row/col selections
If all of the above are met, try drilling down in the query once it is presented and see if anything is unaccounted for

  • Caching web templates using the portal cache - experiences

    Hi,
To improve performance, I would like to cache a (7.0) web template in the portal. I adjusted the iView by changing the following fields:
    Cache Level to shared
Cache Validity Period to 1 hour
However, the template still takes 10 seconds to load, the same time as before.
The template doesn't have a variable screen that is shown (all variables are optional), so according to note 1002778 'Caching in the Enterprise Portal' there doesn't seem te be a problem.
Do you have suggestions why it doesn't work, and if there steps I could perform to make it working?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Hi,
Finally SAP OSS has answered me on portal caching in BI 7.0. From their reaction:
"In the new Portal infrastructure in NetWeaver 7.0 the iView properties
for iView portal caching are not evaluated by BI as it was in BW 3.5.
In 3.5 portal infrastructure this feature had special implementation
which was evaluated as not situable for the NW 7.0 infrastructure.
The iView properties are visible, even if they do not fit to BI
iViews as we do not have the possiblity to switch off this visibility
    for some types of iViews.
Nevertheless, some parts like Web Templates, Web Items are stored
in the cache on Java Server and are reused when the same Template
    is loaded again.
So in 7.0 we do not have functionality like in 3.x for storing of
the generrated HTML. As of my knowladge, there is no workaround for
that (besides what you have mentioned."
So we'll have to wait for the BO stuff, which has pretty good pre-calculations options which can serve as cache.
    Kind regards,
    Daniel

  • Passing a variable value from one query to another within a web template

    Hi All,
I have a web template with two queries.  Both queries have the same select option variable called ZSELCUST on the characteristic ZCUSTOMER but because they are different info providors (both infocubes) the customer has to be entered once for each query, even with the 'Display same variable only once' flag checked.
I want the user to select the customer once and then that value be passed to the other query within the resulting web template output.
Am I right in that the same variable is used more than oncee because of the different info providors?
I'm struggling, can anyone help out there....???
    Best Regards,
    Stuart Humphrey

    Hi
A way of doing this is by "linking" the queries: in transaction RSBBS you define the sender and receiver queries. In query navigation you can jump to the dependent query (blue arrow icon in the BEx tool bar). This transfers the navigational state to the called query: filters over characteristics and variable values.
    Hope this help

  • Question regarding the default web template for queries

    Hello,
I am trying to learn the default web template that is using for queries:
    0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70
I see that it's <bi:QUERY value="" /> is empty which is logic since the query will be inserted on runtime. My question is, where in the web template does it say that? I can't see any parameter it expects to get with the query's technical name not at the webtemplate code nor at the URL...
    Roy

    Roy,
I think you are mixing things. The template you are mentioning is used for queries that are executed from the query designer. It's not a web template as any other one you create for your users. So, this web template has some parts in it's code that works with the query execution. When you run a query, the system takes the query definition (made in QD) and executes it with the web template indicated for the query. This determination is made by the program that is used to run queries. You can try using RSRT transaction to debug and check how this it's done. If you want to change the default web template used by query designer to run the queries, you should do it copying any standard template, like the one you mentioned. If you don't do it, you won't get the information correct.
    Hope this helps.

  • Two Queries in one XSQL-Template

    Hi there,
is it possibile to use two queries in one xsql-template, which are generated two seperated trees of XML?
I think about something like that

Sure, just enclose two <xsql:query> tags by any other outer tag:

  • Webi- Issues when using multiple Queries

    Hi All,
I have a requirement as follows:
A crosstab which will have Year dimension both in the vertical and horizontal header. How ever the horizontal header should have years chosen by the user.
And the vertical header should have all the years that belong to that dimension.
                                   2013 2014 2015
    Audit1  2011                N     N      N
    Audit2  2013                Y     N      N
    Audit3  2014                N     Y      N
For this I am using two queries.
    Query 1 ->Audit Name , Year
    Query 2 ->Year with a multiselect prompt
But the problem with this is that after exec uting the queries the Year dimension gets merged and gives me a union of all the years.
Also if I avoid merging the dimensions, it gives up the infamous #DATASYNC error.
However I want crosstab horizontal header to show up only the selectd years(that are selected using the prompt by the user).
    Please help.

    Hi Pradnya,
Your approach is really nice towards the requirement.
I similarly created two queries containing Year and on
one of the query created a prompt on Year and one query does not have any
    prompt.
Lets say I have created two queries named [Query 1] and [Query
2] and my merged dimension Year contains dimensions [Query 1].[Year] and [Query
    2].[Year].
(Note: Query 2 has a prompt on Year)
Created a detail variable named [test] which has the
definition as =[Query 1].[Year] and Associated to the merged dimension [Year].
Inserted a cross table and used [test] in the vertical
header and in the horizontal header used the following formula:-
    =UserResponse([Query 2)].[Year];"Enter values for
    Year:")
Please try the above and let me know how it goes.

    Manpreet
