Web.xml & RDBMSRealm URGENT

          Hi All,
          I am using WLS5.1 and RDBMS Realm. I have group called 'IS_Dept','HR_Dept' setup
          in Realm.How do I set the same in web.xml file and weblogic.xml while deploying
          WebApp.
          NOTE: I have specified RDBMSRealm in weblogic.properties.
          regards
          sanjeev

I don't use Extensis Suitcase, however, after the Muse upgrade, when I was in Australia, it didn't work. Later, they did, so it all seems OK now.
Best,
Rick

  • URGENT: Tomcat, Connection Pool - Issue with web.xml & server.xml

    Folks,
    I am trying to connect to a MS SQL database using Tomcat/JSP but having issues. The code that I am using is as follows:
    Context ic = new InitialContext();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/test");
    Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    I have added the following code to my Server.xml:
    <Resource name="jdbc/test" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000"
    username="DB_AW_DATA" password="tester" driverClassName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
    url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://192.168.0.1\\Newcastle"/>
    And the complete web.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app (View Source for full doctype...)>
    - <web-app>
    - <resource-ref>
    <description>Resource reference to java.sql.Connection factory defined in server.xml</description>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/test</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </web-app>
    The error message that I am getting is as follows:
    java.sql.SQLException: Cannot load JDBC driver class 'null'
    What confuses me is that I have placed the following files in Tomcat\common\lib...
    mssqlserver.jar
    msbase.jar
    msutil.jar
    I think this is purely an issue with how I configured server.xml and web.xml
    In the Tomcat documentation it states to put the code in the server.xml - but nested inside the Context element. This is something that I have not done as I am clear what the Context should be..
    Can someone assist...
    <Context path="" docBase="ROOT" debug="0"> ???
    what should be the path and the docBase.
    I have deployed the following application:
    http://localhost:8080/SCWAPP/index.jsp
    THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL SUPPORRT

    you should put the code you typed in server.xml into context.xml
    in the META-INF folder and this will fix your problem.
    the latest tomcat docs detail what to do.

  • Help! web.xml security without using WAR files

    I'm currently using the RDBMSRealm and URL ACL security for my app. I would like to use the web.xml descriptor for security so that I can specify login pages and such. We currently are not using WAR files. I've been having alot of trouble setting this up. Is there a way to use the RDBMS realm along with the web.xml security? It looks like it should work, but I can't seem to get it to function. How do I specify the regular document root as a webapp? I'm currently running WLS 5.1 with SP4. Thanks.

    The RDBMSRealm is just the authentication mechanism underneath WLS versus the
    web.xml of the WebApplication which describes all the access control for that WebApp.
    the later being scoped only to that WebApp.
    you don't need to deploy in a war file, you can expand the archive into an identical
    directory structure and then just point us towards the top level of that structure.

  • What info. to store in the web.xml tag realm-name for a LDAP authentication ?

    Hello everybody,
    I try to authentify users of my web-app with a full-LDAP directory (O.I.D : Oracle
    Internet Directory),
    using Weblogic 5.1.
    So i have configured :
    1) "weblogic.properties"
    2) "ldaprealm.properties"
    and then i have to configure the xml files for my web-app : "web.xml" and "weblogic.xml".
    What kind of information must i put in the tag <realm-name>, under <login-config>
    in "web.xml" file ?
    Is it the same name which is mentionned in the weblogic.security.realmClass property
    of the "weblogic.propertis" file ?
    Is it another name ? Which one ?...
    Could you send me a pair of a web.xml/weblogic.xml associated with a web-app,
    in a LDAP authentication envirnoment ?
    It would be a great help for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sylvain,
    Web-Application security works in exactly the same way whether you are using the LDAPRealm,
    or just the fileRealm
    To the web-application, it makes no difference whether a principal is in either LDAPRealm or
    fileRealm
    Here's working pair:
    web.xml
    <web-app>
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>myName</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/myDirectory/myFile.html</url-pattern>
    <http-method>GET</http-method>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>
    myRole
    </role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    </login-config>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>
    myRole
    </role-name>
    </security-role>
    </web-app>
    weblogic.xml
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <description>WebLogic Descriptor</description>
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>myRole</role-name>
    <principal-name>myWLS_principal</principal-name>
    </security-role-assignment>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    Here myWLS_principal should be a user or group that exists in either the WebLogic fileRealm
    or the WebLogic LDAP realm (or other alternate realm -- it doesn't make a difference whether
    this is LDAP, or NTRealm, or UnixRealm, or RDBMSRealm, or Custom Realm...)
    Cheers

  • Web.xml problem in tomcat web hosting site

    Hi i need help in this... its urgent
    currently i just subscribe to a web hosting site and i need to start the private tomcat in the web server..
    The followings are the instructions and i have follow them but i do not know how to create a web.xml file to store in the folder indicated for example a HelloServlet that im testing :
    To setup servlet, you need to configure servlet into the file web.xml which needs to be placed in /var/www/html/WEB-INF directory.
    www root directory or webapps:/var/www/htm
    Classes directory located in: /var/www/html/WEB-INF/Classes/
    There you will need to upload your Java class file.
    Our default url-mapping for servlet is: /servlet/*
    To check servlet in your browser: www.mydomain.net/servlet/HelloWorld
    Jsp Files - Upload anywhere in /var/www/html
    all the above steps are follow except the web.xml file which i suppose to write and store in the folder... but i actually try to write one but i still cannot load my servlet on the webpage... test on standalone tomcat works.

  • Configure web.xml to redirect on exception

    hi
    I am using creator and its default webServer to check my application.
    I want that if a class throws facesException then my page would be redirected to some failure.jsp
    I addede failure.jsp and the entry is there in managed beans.
    i edited the following in the web.xml
    <error-page>
    <exception-type>javax.faces.FacesException</exception-type>
    <location>/error/ExceptionHandler</location>
    </error-page>
    -------------------------- TO--------------
    <error-page>
    <exception-type>javax.faces.FacesException</exception-type>
    <location>/failure.jsp</location>
    </error-page>
    but now with error(i made the application to throw exception) it shows 404 error.
    i changed the <location>/failure.jsp</location>
    and <location>/web/failure.jsp</location>
    but nothing worked.. I know it works with context root.
    but how can i find what is the context root of deployed application.. how can i make this work .. Suppose my application name is MyWebApp then what path should i give to it.
    thanks

  • WEB.XML gives me an error while deploying a Web Application in Weblogic 5.1

  • Web application and web.xml

    i have a web application consisting of 1 servlet and 5 jsps.
    the start point would be index.jsp
    i use firmwide login page. after login, i want the browser to display index.jsp page.
    In web.xml, i have defined -
    <welcome-file-list>          <welcome-file>/jsp/index.jsp</welcome-file>     </welcome-file-list>       <servlet>        <servlet-name>UtilitiesServlet</servlet-name>        <servlet-class>com.gs.fw.sox404.utilities.UtilitiesServlet</servlet-class>             <init-param>             <param-name>util-log4j-init-file</param-name>             <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/util_log4j.properties</param-value>          </init-param>        <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>    </servlet>     <servlet-mapping>        <servlet-name>UtilitiesServlet</servlet-name>        <url-pattern>/UtilitiesServlet</url-pattern>    </servlet-mapping>if i define it as just index.jsp in the welcome file list, after successful login, it displays the dir structure of the web app.
    if i define it as jsp/index.jsp, then in some of the pages, it tries to find the servlet inside jsp folder.
    What would be the best way to get around this?

    Well, yes, it's not able to find it because you've not understood the mechanism of how it works clearly. You have to put your welcome file under every directory you want it to be used from. Like I said, it's not a path, it's a filename. So if the container sees that your request URL is for a directory, it'll look for the welcome files from the welcome file list, one by one, in the order of declaration. Whichever one it finds first, it'll serve that. If it doesn't find any, then it'll either give a 404 or a directory listing depending on the server and it's settings.
    So your problem is that you've put your index.jsp in your JSP folder but expect it to be served for all URLs. That won't happen, you'll have to put one file named index.jsp into every directory. The reasoning is pretty simple, what if you want different behaviour for each folder?
    This should fix your problem :)

    Nothing seems to work, have change the string and rewritten the web.xml file to:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app

    "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">
    <web-app>
              <context-param>
                   <param-name>html_test</param-name>
                   <param-value>Value I want have in my jsp class</param-value>
              </context-param>
    </web-app>

  • How can I get the context-parm from a web.xml file using struts?

    Hello:
    I need get the context-param from the web.xml file of my web project using struts. I want configurate the jdbc datasource connection pooling here. For example:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>datasource</param-name>
    <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    <description>Jdbc datasource</description>
    </context-param>
    and then from any Action class get this parameter.
    Similar using a simple server can be:
    /** Initiates new XServlet */
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
              for (Enumeration e = config.getInitParameterNames(); e.hasMoreElements();) {
                   System.out.println(e.nextElement());
              super.init(config);
              String str = config.getInitParameter("datasource");
              System.out.println(str);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
              throws ServletException, IOException {
              // res.setContentType( );
              System.out.println("Got post request in XServlet");
              PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
              out.println("nada");
              out.flush();
              out.close();
    but only this works for init-params, if I use
    <servlet>
         <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
         <display-name>MyServlet</display-name>
         <servlet-class>myExamples.servlet.MyServlet</servlet-class>
         <init-param>
         <param-name>datasource</param-name>
         <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    inside my web.xml. I need something similar, but using struts inside the action class for that I can get the context-params and call my database.
    Thank you

    To get context parameters from your web.xml file you can simply get the ActionServlet object from an implementing action object class. In the perform (or execute) method make the following call.
    ServletContext context = getServlet().getServletContext();
    String tempContextVar =
    context.getInitParameter("<your context param >");
