Webbinding of OBI Publisher failing (OC4J contained into OAS)

Hi
I;m deploying OBI Publisher (earlier XML publisher) xmlpserver.EAR using OC4J contained into Oracle Application server. The deployment is getting successful. But when Binding Web Modules to a Web Site After Deployment it is giving me an error
BindWebApp error: oracle.oc4j.admin.jmx.shared.exceptions.JMXRuntimeException
Anyone of you have ever faced this problem. Do I need to put certain jar files in shared library.
Regards,
Parwez

Solved it myself.
For the benefit of others:
It is possible to use oracle_proxy plug-in for OC4J stand-alone.
Crucial points for the configuration are:
- oracle_proxy config file specified correctly
- xmlpserver roles specified correctly
- right ports specified in instanceconfig.xml and xmlp-server-config.xml

Michal

  • OBI publisher on Jboss Server AS7 [login failed]

Hi, I've deployed OBI publisher on Jboss Server AS7 but when i try to authenticate with Administrator/Administrator the response is login failed. Thanks for your support i'm blocked

Thank you for the replies and I am trying to answer the questions in your replies here
Kranthi : To open in online mode, the BI server should be up so it accepts the password and then directs you to the layout. That is the case, I have OBI server up running and accept login from Answers page.
Kranthi: first you should go through about offline/online modes before proceeding further. You can go through this from the BI answers user guide. The BI Answers user guide I found is OBI Answers, Delivers, and Interactive Dashboards User Guide, B31767-01 for Version 10.1.3.2. I could not find info for security management or login/password. Can you be more specific?
Srinivas Malyala: Cross check are you accessing Linux Box rpd on WindowsWhich credentials are you using LDAP or DB etc
Have you properly configured DSN to access Linux RPD. >
I am not sure how OBI RPD authenticate logins. I am not using LDAP. I do not have a user Administrator in my Oracle database. Thus it does not appear authenticated with DB.
I have a DSN configured on the window box, and be able to import database objects.
Srinivas Malyala: Can you update us exact error message. The only message is "Logon failed." Too bad I cannot attach a file to show the message box. But you can get the same message when you login to the window Admin Tool online or offline with a wrong password.
OBIEE developer : chk whether the rpd property is read only.. How? But I know if I open it offline, it it says the rpd is read-only. That is because it is opened by the server.
OBIEE developer : or try this once if all fails to reset the pass..http://obieetricks.blogspot.com/2009/08/obiee-tips-tricks-for-ease-in.html >
Like to try it but afraid get things more confused before I understand what is going on. I have not loss my Administrator password, I can login offline, I can login to SH Answerers pages.
Is offline suppose to have the same password as online?

  • Shut Down Of OC4J Container ist blocked

    Hi,
i'vi got a problem with the new 10g iAS and if anybody's encountered the same or does know a solution, please let me know.
    The problem is:
I'm not able to stop the OC4J container in the iAS cleanly.
    The reason is:
There are two timers (java.util.Timer) running. These timers are cleanup timers, which run always throughout the application at intervalls (scheduleAtFixedRate). If i dont start the timers, the container will stop right away, without any error. If the timers are running the container is waiting for them to cancel and shutting down hardly after a timeout.
I didn't have this problem with 9i and i dont have it in the embedded OC4J of the JDeveloper.
Is there any workaround? How could i latch into the shutdown process, to cancel the timers myself?
    Best regards,
    Mirko

The OC4J script is not the cause of this -- if the message is shown "shutting down OC4J' then the call has been made to OC4J and its in the process of shutting down.
If you execute "set verbose=on" before executing oc4j.cmd, then you'll see the command that oc4j uses when -shutdown is performed is exactly that command you suggest:
    oc4j -shutdown -port 23791 -password welcome1Executing: D:\java\jdk150_11\bin\java -jar "d:\java\oc4j-10133-prod\j2ee\home\admin.jar" ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin welcome1 -shutdown
But as you are suggesting there are manual ways to shutdown OC4J that are equally valid to use; it's a matter of choice.
What you could try is using the -force extra switch with the -shutdown command to force it to shutdown:
    java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin welcome1 -shutdown force
If that fails, ctrl+c the process. It doesn't do any damage to it.
A thread-dump (ctrl+break) on the hung process can help to identify any deadlock issues.
oc4j.cmd is limited certainly, but it provides a simpler entry point IMHO for new users. And we still fully support/endorse the direct startup path using the runnable JAR file.

  • Preview/Publish Fail & Freeze in Captivate 5

I'm experiencing freezing & "publish failed" messages when I attempt to preview or publish my project.  My project contains 1 slide with a text caption and 40 slides recorded as a demo with no audio.  I've attempted:
    clearing the cache
    reducing the project size
copying recorded slides to a blank presentation
installing the latest Captivate 5 update
I have many other similar projects without this problem. Nothing seems to be working!

I had a similar problem when I tried to publish a project in Captivate 5 that I had first created in Captivate 3.  This problem did not happen with every  3 --> 5 conversion, only in some projects.  Very mysterious.
For me, I noticed that it ALWAYS froze during each Publish attempt at EXACLTY the same spot around 41%, so that caused me to become suspicious:  What was around 41% of the way through my slideshow that was unique/different/unusual?
Finally I realized that there was a slide part way through the project in which I had used a quiz feature in Captivate 3 that was not available in Captivate 5,  So, when I deleted that slide and re-did it in Captivate 5, the publish worked fine.
Just thought I would throw this in for consideration in case:
your project was actually created in Captivate 3 first and now you are publishing in 5.
if your project freezes at exactly the same spot during each publish,  you can investigate slides around that area to determine if there is anything unique/different/unusual

    Hello,
You are hitting a known issue that has been fixed in OC4J 10.1.3.1.
The work around is to remove the *.lock file in the $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/persistence directory.
Let me know if that does not work after this.

  • ICal Publish failed

After starting a new .Mac family pack membership. I changed my .Mac user/pass in System Prefs, and "unpublished" the calendars in iCal.
Now, when I go to Publish them I get
    Publish failed for calendar 'Main'.
    Request to the server failed.
Which seems like a connectivity problem but I can Sync perfectly with .Mac and also access my iDisk ok.
I have tried deleting a calendar and re-creating it. I also tried publishing a brand new calendar. Those gave the same errors, so I don't think the problem is in the calendar itself.
This is lame of course, because a main reason for my changing to the family pack was so my workgroup could all publish for group calendaring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
    David

Apple helped me finally fix this problem. Go into System Prefs, .Mac.
Go to the iDisk tab, and change your Public Folder settings to Read and Write. (This is a temporary change)
Next try several things to test it. Try opening your iDisk from the Finder. Try writing to the iDisk inside a folder such as "Documents".
When I had this problem, the iDisk would not allow writing, and would fail with a disk space error.
You can also test Backup, or Calendar publish now. If everything is working, you can reset the Public Folder settings to Read Only.
What Apple explained to me via phone, is that there was a permissioning error when the new account was originally set up. Somehow, setting it to Read/Write fixes these permissions, and then you can work with all .Mac features as intended. If you still further probs, I recommend requesting to Apple support that they escalate your request to a more highly qualified engineer, and arrange a phone call. That was the deal for me, and he had it fixed in 2 minutes, after months of frustration.

  • OBI Publisher 11.1.1.5 Desktop add in not showing in MS word

    Hi Experts,
I have installed OBI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.5 and OBIEE 11.1.1.5,
I worked with Publisher, and created template and reports.
Once I tried to insert pivot table into template and clicked on preview button,
I lost the Add-in into MS word 2007,
I have reinstalled both MS - Office 2007 and BIP Desktop but didnt got Add-In in MS-WORD,
    Thanks in Advance

Reinstalling Office is a bit extreme. All you needed to do was click on the Office button and view add-ins.

  • Declarative java object cache in non oc4j container

    hello,
i'm trying to use the cache.jar from 10g in a standalone application.
i've followed the j2ee services guide and use cache.open(path_to_javacache.xml). javacache.xml has preload-file defined, in which i've declared my userdefined classloader and userdefined cached object. the implementations of both implement declarable. however, when i use cacheaccess.getaccess(region_name) i get regionnotfoundexception.
i've also tried to use the configurator alternative, where i specify the declarative cache xml file. but this gives me a classcastexception.
any suggestions. better yet is there a sample program that
shows the use of a decl cache in a non oc4j container.
    thanks

    Hi,
I ran into the same problem while evaluating OC4J V9 Java Cache standalone.
    Cache.open() silently ignores errors:
    * Cache.open(path_to_javacache.xml) seems to silently swallow alle error messages (in your case the ClassCastException) and the ignore the configuration file
    * so to get meaningful error messages, first attempt to open the file with new Configurator(path_to_javacache.xml)
    * once there are no more errors, you can open it with Cache.open(path_to_javacache.xml)
Now, to get around the ClassCastException:
    * you need to add xmlparserv2.jar from your oc4j distribution
    * this must be the first xml-parser in your classpath (when e.g. xerces.jar comes first, you will get a ClassCastException)
A relative javacache.xml is relative to your working directory.
The preload-file - Path seems to be relative to the javacache.xml path, if it is not absolute. I keep javacache.xml and preload-file together which worked for me.
    Hope this help,
    Andreas

  • Where is OBI Publisher log

Like in OBI Answers where one can find SQL log in Session Management, where can one find SQL log for OBI Publisher?
    Thanks

You don't have the same system than in presentation service.
You must set the log level as debug in Admin > Server Configuration page.
Restart BI publisher and you will see all debug information on the OC4J console.
You can also configure a debug level with a file. See configuration with EBS.

  • Why do I get "Publish Failed" when I select F4V with fixed frame rate?

I have created several projects from scratch in Captivate 5. My publishing functionality seems to be increasingly impaired. I have rebooted and uninstalled + reinstalled Captivate 5.
In the beginning I got this message when I was publishing a specific project with the media option F4V with fixed frame rate, but now I am getting it on all my projects regardless of my publishing selections.
I am running on Windows 7, and I think it is Windows that is suggesting that I 'debug' the program. Clicking 'Debug' takes me to a dialog box where I can choose between Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008, none of which seem to be a good solution.
Here is a print of my publishing options:

    Chinmay Baid,
Thank you for your reply - over the past few days I have been able to
narrow the problem down a little more.
When working with Captivate 5, I am able to work with and open any
published file until I turn that file into a Zip file.  Upon unZipping,
the file becomes unusable by my computer and by my LMS (Cornerstone).
I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and I am able to run any SWF file
on my machine if the file has never been zipped.  I am using Captivate 5
in administrator mode.  Somehow, the zip process is making the files
unusable, and my LMS requires that files be zipped before they can be
    uploaded.
Thank you for any advice or help you may be able to offer.

Can you please give the following details :
Can you please check and tell the Flash player version

  • Lcds/datamodeler inside oc4j container

    good day,
I've been able to deploy an lcds data modeled application into an oc4j container from a tomcat environment that works against an oracle db.  After a lot of
errors and googling I got it to work by adding this to my WEB-INF/web.xml:
    <resource-ref>
            <res-ref-name>jdbc/myDataSource      </res-ref-name>
                 <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
                 <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
so fiber could make the connection to java:/comp/ env/jdbc/ myDataSource configured in my fml file.
Now from flashbuilder4 /data Model 1.0 I try to connect to the lcds/rds under oc4j and I get no datasources found message, what additional plumbing to I do to get this to work?

You need to uncomment the RDS section in the web.xml file of your webapp.  It is commented out initially for security reasons - RDS should not be enabled in a production environment. Also you probably want to set useAppserverSecurity to false as below.
        <!-- Add RDS servlets -->
        <servlet>
            <servlet-name>RDSDispatchServlet</servlet-name>
            <display-name>RDSDispatchServlet</display-name>
            <servlet-class>flex.rds.server.servlet.FrontEndServlet</servlet-class>
            <init-param>
                <param-name>useAppserverSecurity</param-name>
                <param-value>false</param-value>
            </init-param>
            <load-on-startup>10</load-on-startup>
        </servlet>
        <servlet-mapping id="RDS_DISPATCH_MAPPING">
            <servlet-name>RDSDispatchServlet</servlet-name>

  • Default OC4J Container will not start

    Hi,
I'm running Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1. on SuSE Linux.
Just recently, I've been unable to start my default OC4J container.
When I try, I get any one of these errors:
    opmn id=<host>:6201
no enabled components for this request
    OR
Communication error with the server local port
    OR
    opmnctl: opmn start failed.
I cannot figure out what's wrong. I'm not seeing any errors in the log files; although I'm not sure that I'm checking all of the necessary logs.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what could have gone wrong?
    Thanks much,
    Nora

    Hi,
I actually got it to start by editing the opmn.xml file. I increased the number of seconds for starting the default container before it times out. There were no errors that I could see in the log files; but it seemed like the apps were trying to start and then nothing.
That ended up working, but I haven't done another stopall/startall since then. I think it still might be acting a little wierd. But for now, I at least got it functional again.
    Thanks for the reply,
    Nora

  • Upgrade oc4j container from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3

    Hi to all,
We use oc4j container 10.1.2 for old applications, but now we have developed ajax applications using oracle maps, but if i'm riight 10.1.2 doesn't support oracle maps.
I've tried to install oracle application server oc4j container 10.1.3 in the same machine(i must use the same machine with red hat 3.4.4 opertive system) but i see a lot of conflicts with 10.1.2 and i cannot install that properly.
Is there any possobility to upgrade oracle application server oc4j container without having a metalink account? Is there a patch or something similar?
    Thank you,

There shouldn't be any problems, I have in the same server one 10.1.2 App Server and a 10.1.3 and no conflicts, only when I installed I had the first App Server up, so the second recognize the ports used and it use a diferent one for his components.
Can you tell about your conflicts?

  • OBI Publisher 11.1.1.5 install questions

    Hello,
I am new to OBI Publisher. I need OBIP for production PDF reports that are initiated through an APEX webpage.
I am installing all of these on the same server:
    11.2.0.2 database
    Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
    OBI Publisher
I am having trouble installing OBIP. I ran the 11.1.1.5 RCU and selected the OBI component/schemas. The RCU went fine. However, at the end of the OBI install, I received an error at the "Creating ASInstance" step.
Here is a snippet of the error log:
