WebCenter Spaces: Customise Resource Bundles?

Does anyone know if and how the webcenter spaces resource bundles may be customised or overridden?
I need to rename the "My Group Spaces" tab to a custom name. I see that the label is obtained (within webcenter java code) from a resource bundle "oracle.webcenter.webcenterapp.resource.WebCenterResourceBundle".
Thanks in advance,
Bijesh

The paper should also explain how to create your own resource bundle.

  • Customising Webcenter Spaces Page Templates - "Import Portal Resource" N/A

    Hi,
    I am attempting to customise a Page Template for Webcenter Spaces, and I am trying to do so in JDeveloper.
    I have successfully opened the WebCenterSpacesResources project in JDeveloper, and also successfully downloaded the page template resource (.ear file).
    I am now trying to import this webcenter spaces resource (page template) into the project, as described in this step:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_wcsres.htm#CIHJFGJI
    The problem is, the "*Import Portal Resource*" option does not appear in the menu when I right-click on WebCenterSpacesResources project.
    I am using JDeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0.
    I have also downloaded and installed WebCenter Framework and Services Design Time extension.
    Any reason why I cannot see this option?
    Amanda.

    Hi,
    I have installed both of the extensions, but I went to:
    http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/156082.xml#oracle.webcenter.cust
    and dowloaded both (latest):
    WebCenter Framework and Services Design Time
    WebCenter Customization Framework Design Time
    and then installed them manually in my JDeveloper.
    I have restarted and the option still does not appear:

    How do I know that the extensions are installed? They seem to be when I look at the Help > About > Extensions
    http://oi51.tinypic.com/244xylh.jpg
    I have tried this with versions 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.4.

  • Custom Application's Model Bundle in Webcenter Spaces

    I created a custom ADF application (MVC) that has a portlet entry. The application has a model, connecting to an oracle database, and a view controller, showing the model's view objects in JSF fragments. I created two ".properties" files, ModelBundle_en and ModelBundle_ar, that contain the same keys as the default ModelBundle created when I used the attributes control hints.
    The application works prefectly fine when deployed on the IntegeratedWebLogicServer that comes with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0. But when I deploy it on Webcenter and show it on spaces, the application initially gets the right locale and displays the labels correcty, then when i navigate between the pages, it displays the labels based on the browser's locale and not spaces' locale. However, if I refresh the page, it displays the labels correctly; i.e. from spaces' locale.
    The only solution I found so far, was adding the model bundle in faces-config.xml, then using the EL Expression, #{modelBundle['Key']}, instead of using the attributes label, #{attribute.hints.label}. I would prefer to use the arrtibutes label, so that when i drag an drop a component, I don't have to manually refer to the bundle in the component's value.
    Does anyone have a solution please?

    My taskflow is actually using a datasource that i have configuered for webcenter spaces also but when i look at the logs, it tells me the following:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to look up comp/env/jdbc/workshopDS in /app/webapp/webcenter/312050545.; remaining name 'comp/env/jdbc/workshopDS.
    Any idea how can this be the error even after having thee datasource configuered?
    Regards

  • How to use resource of in Webcenter Space into one of its Child Spaces

    I have a requirement for using the Spaces resources(Navigation Model,Skin ) that are created at the Sub Space level to be used in the Child Sub Spaces.
    For eg.,
    Consider the example where i have a sub Space "A". This space has the Resources like navigation N1, Skin S1 and Page template P1 created at the scope of the Space. Also this Space has 3 Sub Spaces, A1,A2,A3.
    My requirement is to use the Navigation model "N1" ,Skin "S1" and Page template "P1" of the Parent Space "A" at the Sub Space level with the Spaces "A1","A2","A3"
    Regards,
    Hardik

    For some resources this is possible like the navigation model. When you edit a navigation model, you can add the navigation model of a different space to the current navigation model. Just select navigation model reference when editing a navigation model and you should be able to select whatever space you want.
    Resources like resource catalog, page templates and skins can not be selected from the parent.
    There is, however a workaround for this and that is creating your resource at the highest level possible in spaces. This is done in the resource section in the administration section of webcenter spaces. Not the admin of a specific space, the admiinistration section of the environment. From there you shoiuld be able to create navigation models, skins, resource catalogs and so on that can be used in every space.

  • Customising a Login page for Webcenter spaces

    Hi,
    I'm trying to add in a "Remember Me" function to Webcenter Spaces (out of the box), and I'm wonding how this can be done. I'd like to check if its possible to create a custom page/portlet or modify the existing page for this to be done.

    Based on what mechanism you want to use for implementing "remember me" functionality, you also may consider utilizing the ability to 'edit the login page' (not the one that has a login portlet) by logging in as a webcenter administration into spaces application and going to 'webcenter administration'>general>edit login page (in the bottom)
    thanks

  • Change default text in adf faces component in Webcenter Spaces

    Hi ,
    Here is the link that I found to change the default text in adf faces component. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/49-skin-component-labels-169191.pdf
    Scenario is simple :
    Taskflow "ABC" is used in webcenter space through imported Library in spaces App. Taskflow "ABC"  have the pageFragment "view1" and fragment has a adf table on that page. I was trying to change the "Detach" text using below code in above provided instruction.
    { "af_panelCollection.LABEL_DETACH_TABLE_DLG", "Any name for the Detachable Table" },
    { "af_panelCollection.LABEL_DETACH_TREE_TABLE_DLG", "Any name for the Detachable Tree Table" }
    Query/Problem : I did change in the trinidad-skins.xml of DesignWCSpaces app ... redeployed the war.. But the text didn't changed. The above steps worked fine for individual ADF application ... SO what's wrong with implementation on Webcenter Spaces ?

    Hi.
    Basically you have to do the following:
    Create an ADF JAR Library including your Skin (JS, Images, CSS Skin, Resources Bundles and trinidad-skins.xml)
    Deploy the ADF JAR Library as Shared-lib in WebLogic.
    Include in your weblogic.xml of the WebCenter Portal (Formerly Spaces) deployment via DesignWebCenterSpaces or the new extension the reference to the shared-lib.
    Restart WebCenter Portal (Spaces). When starting WebCenter Portal (Spaces) it looks inside of the Classpath for all trinidad-skins.xml files.
    Setup your custom skin for a Space and test.
    If the Skin is not selectable in the Administration Console then register your new skin downloading/updating/uploading from the MDS the generic-site-resources.xml file of the default scope GUID.
    If you still have issues then may I priorize a Blog entry explaining this .
    Regards.

  • Multi Language Portal on WebCenter Spaces

    Hi all,
    we have a project to implemet bilingulal (Arabic/English) portal for a client, if you have an experiance before please share it with me
    i need to know how to deal with Arabic/English reagarding the below
    1. temaplate
    2. Navigations
    3. pages
    4. content
    5. Announcements
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Are you sure to implement it in webcenter spaces ?Or thinking to build custom webcenter spaces ?
    Anyways, in both the applications support multilingual.Here multilingual means text's values and some images are changing with language selection.There is no automatic language translation.Everywhere you have to use resource bundles to maintain text levels.
    1)Template : Same template can be used for both the languages.If you need to use some texts in template then better to use resourse bundles and provide text's key,values in resource bundles.If you have some image kind of thing based on language then you need to use JSTL to check the current language.
    2)Navigations :Here also you have to use resource bundles to build multilingual navigation.
    3)pages:What you need in pages to achieve multilingual ?ADF/Webcenter layout's support left-to-right and right-to-left direction.You need to change the content /lebels based on language selection.Levels can be maintained by resource -bundles and content can be managed by UCM/ static contents.
    4)Contents: can be managed by UCM. Make two folder one for English and another for Arabic .Therefore you can maintain both contents under generic folder name.
    5)Announcements :It is completely based on user's input.If user provides arabic content then it will show arabic and so for english. Although the lebels of announcement taskflows will change according to language selection.If you need to show arabic and english announcements ,then you need to use two taskflow.

  • How to cache external resource bundles?

    Hi,
    I am using Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.4.0_GENERIC_101227.1736.5923 on Windows 7.
    We have used external resource bundle for our ADF application using loadbundle which extends java.util.ListResourceBundle.
    Is there any way to cache these external resource bundles? and If yes when/how it will get cached?
    We have found following link:
    http://www.orastudy.com/oradoc/selfstu/fusion/web.1111/b31974/appendixa.htm (Section: A.11 adf-config.xml)
    But not sure if it will help for external resource bundles.
    Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vishal

    Hi again.
    To achieve your requeriment you can try next solutions:
    - Add a external path where you are going to let your Resource Bundle in your Manage Server Classpath. For example: /language (into this folder put your baseName folder's and properties file).
    - Build your custom Java Class to load Resource Bundle in a configured classpath or path.
    - Try to do a similar solution like WebCenter Spaces copying your resource bundle in MDS path and updating/getting it with WSLT scripts.
    Regards.

  • Problem using Resource Bundle in XSLT File

    Hi All,
    I've been trying to use Resource Bundle on my XSLT file with no success for the last 2 weeks. So I would like some help to definitely end this problem.
    The fact is that i have a property file that i would like to read and it works fine when i use jsp or a servlet however when i try to call the same property file using my XSL i get the message below:
    java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name thoth, locale en_US
    Follow the code from my Stylesheet that i'm calling the resource bundle:
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
    xmlns:java="java.util.ResourceBundle" exclude-result-prefixes="java" version="1.0">
    <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
    <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" version="4.0"/>
    <xsl:output encoding="ISO-8859-1"/>
    <xsl:template match="page">
    <html>
    <body>
    <xsl:apply-templates select="paragraph"/>
    <xsl:variable name="resources" select="java:getBundle('thoth')"/>
    <xsl:value-of select="java:getString($resources,'general.title')"/>
    </body>
    </html>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    Please someone could help me why this file cannot be located, I am 100% of sure the property file path is in my classpath since it works fine in a servlet. Should i have to put it some other place? Do i have some other way to read this file and show the information from the file?
    I would appreciate any help
    thanks in advance and Regards
    Fabio

    Please someone could help me why this file cannot be located, I am 100% of sure the property file path is in my classpath since it works fine in a servlet.
    Is the property file in your classpath? or whether the directory where the property file is residing is in your classpath. Please put only the directory where the property file is located in the classpath and try again.
    It may be working fine with the servlet because j2ee servlet containers put the classes and lib directory automatically in the classpath therefore resource bundle gets loaded even without putting it explicitly in the classpath. This doesn't happen when you try to test some component from the console.
    Let me know if this does not work.
    regards,
    Abhishek.

  • Automated packaging and deploying of WebCenter Spaces/Portal

    Hey,
    I'm using WebCenter PS5 (11.1.1.6) and was wondering if anyone has setup package and deployment scripts for use in Continuous Integration (CI) for Webcenter Portal and Spaces using Ant. From the documents online I can see that there is limited support for this:
    WebCenter Portal
    You can use the 'New...' wizard to generate an ant build which will build a .war for your Portal.jpr project. What I can't find is something that will generate an .ear for the entire .jws. Is there a way to do this through ant, wlst or other without doing a 'right-click' option in JDeveloper? It looks like the .ear generation adds a bit of extra stuff like the metadata archive and so couldn't fudge it through a normal <ear> task to wrap the .war.
    WebCenter Spaces
    So it looks like extending spaces requires quite a few different artifacts. The first being the extend.spaces.webapp.war, which is simple enough since the DesignWebCenterSpaces\WebCenterSpacesExtensionLibrary comes with an ant to do packaging and deployment. However it still leaves question marks for all the .ear files that contain Resources. It would seem you only have 2 choices here - right click deploy from JDeveloper or export as EAR from JDeveloper and then manually install. Are there any ojdeploy tasks etc for the individual spaces resources that could package and install into spaces?
    It looks like the only thing I can really properly automate at the moment is the extend.spaces.webapp.war deployment, and all the rest I will have to generate an EAR from within JDeveloper. I really want to avoid generating from JDeveloper as that means you have to check-in archives into source control which isn't good practice.
    Responses on this topic are next to none so I would really appreciate an answer if anyone has tried or done this.
    Cheers,
    Ross

    So I managed to find a way to build the EAR using ant/ojdeploy for the WebCenter Portal Application. See the following text section which is found in the given link:
    http://one-size-doesnt-fit-all.blogspot.com.au/2010/11/using-ojdeploy-and-ant-for-creating-adf.html
    Entirely separately to generating ADF libraries, if you wish to use the ojdeploy utility to create an EAR via the workspace, you do this by dropping the project option leaving the workspace, profile and outputfile options. If you do this under JDev 11.1.1.2.0 specifically you'll see the error message "Missing <workspace>, <project> or <profile> parameter in <deploy> element", caused by a bug in the ojdeploy utility, of which there is a patch available.
    So basically just drop the <ora:parameter name="project" value="${oracle.jdeveloper.project.name}"/> line in your ant script and it will use the .jws instead to build your project.

  • Can't see Document service in the WebCenter Spaces

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the document service in the WebCenter Spaces. I've followed the installation and configuration procedure from the documentation including the setting up the Content repository to UCM in Fusion Middleware control console, but I still can't see the Docuemnt link under the Content and Services tab in my spaces. However, if I go to the Documents page under the Pages tab, it will show me some folder content from the content server. Do I need to anything else to the document service available in WebCenter Spaces?
    Thanks,
    Steven

    By connecting to the Oracle Content server, you will be able to get all out of the box Document Service Task Flows in the Resource Catalog. You will NOT see the Document service under the Content and Services tab however.

  • How to Programmatically Get Preferences from WebCenter Spaces

    Hi,
    I'm developing a custom task flow to be added to WebCenter Spaces 11.1.1.4.0 (PS3).
    Spaces provides a Preferences link where a logged in user can change his/her preferences such as language, time format, date format, and time zone. I would like my custom task flow code to honor these settings.
    Can someone point me to the right API or tutorial that explains this?
    Thanks.

  • Skin resource bundle

    Hi,
    I'm using a paged af:table and getting in the logs "<RenderingContext> <getTranslatedString> Could not fetch resource key Page from the skin myskin.desktop" (roughly translated).
    Solution in non-portal application is to specify resource bundle with specified key in trinidad-skins.xml/skins/skin/bundle-name but what is the proper solution in a portal application if I still want to allow for runtime selection of skin?
    The "update portal resource" dialog does not provide input of resource bundle name.
    The generated generic-site-resources.xml contains a reference resourceBundle="oracle.webcenter.framework.translations.TranslationsMDSResourceBundle" that indicates there might be some proper place to put skin bundle resources. (I tried editing the xml manually testing changing resourceBundle="MyBundle" and also adding <customAttribute name="skinBundleName" seeded="false" value="MyBundle" visible="ALWAYS"/> but to no avail).
    Best bet, if it is indeed possible to translate the "???Page???" in an af:table in a portal application, would be to add something to ResourceLibraryBundle but I don't know what trans-unit id.
    There's a handful of this exact question (e.g. https://forums.oracle.com/message/10620083) but no answers, either the solution is very obvious or there is no solution other than hard-coding the skin (which would not be that much of a problem).
    Any ideas?

    Thank you again!
    I'm using JDeveloper 10g.
    First, I've created a custom resource bundle (com.ieci.mugeju.view.resource.MugejuResourceBundle) and overrided the default resource string values.
    Second, I've created the file adf-faces-skins.xml like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <skins xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/view/faces/skin">
    <skin>
    <id>MugejuSkin</id>
    <family>MugejuSkin</family>
    <render-kit-id>oracle.adf.desktop</render-kit-id>
    <bundle-name>
    com.ieci.mugeju.view.resource.MugejuResourceBundle
    </bundle-name>
    </skin>
    </skins>
    Third, I set the skin-family property of the file adf-faces-config.xml to 'MugejuSkin'.
    If I follow all these steps, I achieve to change the text in ADF Faces components, as I wanted, but I lost the oracle styles (skin-family = oracle) that I had before following these steps.
    I must be doing someting wrong. I would like both, to mantain the oracle styles and to change the text in ADF Faces components.
    Thank you very much.
