WebDAV vs. Repository Pages

My enterprise is just starting to utilize the portal for internet site development and maintenance. Our policy thus far has been to use a repository portal page(s) to contain portal page elements like .css, javascript, and images (e.g., the elements are stored in the database and called via URL).
I'm afraid this scenario will cause problems in calling (and executing) the elements. We have already had a serious downtime caused by a webserver error (503) which I suspect may have been caused by looping.
My question is this: In your experience, is it a better practice to store content elements such as .css and javascript in a directory on the webserver and access them via webDAV or use a repository page and call the elements via the URL?
Any advice is appreciated.
Any direction to supporting documentation would cause me to light a candle in your honor. ; - )

I understand that the functionality of the "style" in portal is comparable to that of the .css in other .html development environments but I am in a situation where I'm relying on a web developer with lots of .html experience and no real portal experience. I'm trying to bridge that gap. Regarding the .js files, I intend to use those to add functionality to the navigation controls only (e.g., flyout menus, etc.). If you have other suggestions for that type of functionality, I'd LOVE to hear them.

I installed the JPDK and could see all samples from the Portlet Repository page. Every one works fine, except the Lottery only shows preview, not the balls.
Then I try to add a portlet to a page. When I click on the name of the provider, I get the Windows hourglass forever and have to Cancel. It does not show any portlets.

WEBDAV rules repository not reflecting the changes

WEBDAV rules repository does not reflect the changes unless i restart the application server. i dont have a problem with file repository because i can change the file repository using the link from the BPEL console and the changes are reflected immediately from the very next instance. .
But in case of WEBDAV repository, even if i change the rules , they dont get reflected in any of the further instances unless i restart the server.
Please help on this one.

Another observation is that the entire bpel process(with decisionservice on webdav repository) works even if the webdav server is shut down.
The webdav server needs to be up only for the first instance of the bpel process. After that, even shutting down the webdav server does not effect any further instances and they all run smoothly.
This shows that the decison service builds up some kind of cache on the first call of the decisionservice. Some way to destroy this cache everytime the webdav repository changes will solve the problem.
Any help on this topic is highly appreciated.

I think you need to clera your JWS cache. to do this, just open your Java Web Start, go to FILE-->PREFERENCES >Advanced>
and select the option CLEAR APPLICATION FOLDER.

I tried sldcheck transaction and found out that sld is not working .
When I go through system log user was locked which is used for sldaccess maintained in sldapicust transaction.
After unlocking same user , problem was resolved.

[SOLVED] Pacman and a WebDAV(s) repository

Hi together,
i tried to set up a private repository using WebDAV (instead of http/ftp) but it did'nt work.
I cannot find anything about using pacman together with WebDAV.
The only solution I see, is using davfs2 and mount the repository locally.
Am I doing something wrong or is WebDAV simply not supported by pacman?

I'm kind of in the same case:
I did my usual
pacman -Syu
some days ago, and got the following error:
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
qt-4.5.3-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz is invalid or corrupted
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I did a
pacman -Scc
which cleared the cache, and proceeded to do another pacman -Syu, which ended in the same issue and same error message.
I'm suspecting the repo (chile arch repo) is/was for some time somehow out of sync (?), and would keep on doing the same thing but I wanted to first check here for any suggestion. It's also bothersome because I had a large number of package to upgrade after the pacman -Syu and clearing the cache means having to download everything over again...
On top of it, it's preventing me to upgrade at all (as it exits in error).

Webdav-login pages

Can anyone help me how to login via webdav-login in pages? I can read my files on the iphone via webdav from te NAS-Synology server (wifi and 3G, using the DS-file app) but i can't login via wegdav-login screen in pages.

I have the same problem as Steve, and no, the link that Craig provided did not solve it. He is the breakdown of the problem
1) I bought the iPad 2 and all of iWork.
2) I found out the iWork is terrible incompatible with anything that I use.
3) I spent $100 to by the Airstash to be able to use its local WebDAV features.
4) In the mean time, I set up a temporary account with Ajaxfilebrowser, to have at least basic usability out of my overpriced iworks suite.
5) The Airstash arrived in the mail, and the temporary Ajaxfilebrowser account had terminated itself.
6) I tried to set up my Airstash WebDAV, only to find out that iWork supports only one WebDAV account at a time.
7 part 1) I tried to remove my WebDAV account, only to find out that you have to log into it, before you can press the "sign out" button.
7 part 2) I cannot log into the Ajaxfilebrowser account, because it does not exist anymore.
7 part 3) I cannot reopen the same Ajaxfilebrowser account, because it is a randomly assigned number.
8) Now my iWork apps are useless, because I cannot log out of the non existing WebDAV account.
9) Now I literally wasted $637.49 on the iPad, about $70 on accessories, about $100 on apps and $109.99 on the Airstash, and after all of that, Apple left me in a ditch.
Please help. Any and all advice is welcome.
If apple cannot resolve their convoluted programing, of which this problem is only the tip of the iceberg, then I feel obligated as responsible citizen to sue them into being more considerate of their customers.

Adding a portlet to a page like the customize or edit link

I hope somebody else out there has seen or tried this...
I would like to have a list of portlets, similar to the way the repository displays them, inside of a portlet on a page. Each entry would be a link, that when clicked, would add the selected portlet to a different region on the page. Basically it would be a way to do the customize (add/remove portlets) function without having to click customize and drill into the repository. Is there anything in the PDK APIs or something that can do this?

What version are you using? The Portlet Repository Page group in 9.0.2.6+ is what you see when you add portlets through the normal UI. You can have a look in there and see what they call.

How can I copy a page in PageGroup1 to PageGroup2?
I want to use the copy feature as a simple configuration management process. Pages are developed in PageGroup1. When a page is ready for test, it is copied to PageGroup2. When the page is ready for production, it is copied to PageGroup3. My pages have portlet regions, not item types, so WEB/ORADAV does not appear to be a solution. Is there any programmatic solution? Supported solution? Unsupported solution? Patch? Help?

I know we used WebDAV to copy pages from one page group to another complete with their portlets, but most of our content was in items. The portlets on the page were all simple such as page portlets, HTML, etc. If you have or can easily get WebDAV enabled, it might be worth a shot. How to delete translation of portlet repository

We are using Oracle Portal 10.1.4. with two languages (English and Czech). We have a problem with portlets. If we use only one language in the page group we have both language versions of portlets there (depending on the language environment of the editor).
I guess this problem exists because we have translations enabled in the Portlet Repository page group. I tried to "switch off" this translation (so we would have only "English" version of portlets) but it seems impossible: there is no "red cross" to delete the translation in the portlet repository.
Is there any way how to solve this?

Red error of a web template in Metadata Repository in TEST system

This red error only occurs on our test system (maybe related to transport). RSA1->Goto Metadata Repository page->Double Local objects under Activated objects in the middle frame -> Double click Web Template Name in the right frame, then can see two same lines of red errors (see below in between two dashed lines):

Diagnosis
You wanted to generate an object with the name 'our_web_template_name' (in transport request our_web_template_name) of type 'Web Template Name' (TLOGO). This is, however, not available in the BW Repository database. It does not exist in the requested version A. If the version is 'D' then it is possible that an error arose during the delivery or installation. If the version is 'A' then the Object was either not created or not activated.

For these requests can you check if they contained objects like:
BW: LOIO Class Web Templates
BW: PHIO Class Web Templates
See, even if the transport for a web template does not contain these, it is imported fine, but the web template will not function in the target system. This happens quite often and you need to make sure that the above objects are also included in the request.

Since you are working with XBRL I would strongly recommend upgrading to 11g at the earliest possible opportunity. If you can send me your taxonomy and instance documents I will check the query out in 11g.

Does integration repository r12 expose any web service for 'Application Navigator' and 'Worklist' so we can build ADF Task Flows over that and embedded additional logic if needed (and eventually transform it into an ADF library or even a portlet)?

Page paths show root level when page published as portlet

I use pages that simply work as repositories and which are published to the root page in the same page group as portlets. When these repository pages have sub pages I add a region with a page path for users to navigate within each page hierarchy.
When the pages are published as portlets and placed on the root page of the page group, the page path shows the root page as the first level of the path (root : repospage : reposSubPage1 : reposSubPage11).
This is confusing as it always seems that there is one more level above the top level when in fact reposPage is the top level.
I want to have the underlying repository page as the top level of the path. How do I do this?

The page path always shows the root page of the page group.
You can try building your own page path in a PL/SQL item. The function:
wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('_pageid','a')will return the value of the pageid parameter in the page URL (the second parameter is used by portlets and is ignored when used in a PL/SQL item). You can use this value to find the parent page in the WWSBR_ALL_FOLDERS view. By using a cursor loop (I recommend this over a connect by query against this view), you can walk up the tree to get the entire path. The root page will always have an id of 1.
One caveat - getting the pageid from the wwpro_api_parameters.get_value function may not work in future versions of Portal.
Also, you'll need 9.0.2.6 or later for the WWSBR_ALL_FOLDERS view.

True that gets the file into Dropbox, and yes you can use the dropbox app and open in app protocol all for free but that does mean you have to open two apps have the iPad do some manipulation with duplicate files copied.
What dropdav does is contain everything within Pages.
Your working in Pages and want to edit a document you know is in your Dropbox you simply tap on the + in the top left of the Pages document screen scroll to copy from Webdav and all your Dropbox files and folders show up right there WITHIN Pages thusly
Any compatilbe file is bold and can be opened DIRECTLY in PAGES edited and returned seemlessly with the copy to Webdav or yes the print to Dropbox (Both work)
The key is Webdav integration within Pages allows for external file transfer.

Dynamic Fill in PDF Files

I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??
