Webdynpro appln Url parameter "sap-wd-client= XML client "

Hi all,
I am a beginner in Webdynpro application development.
I have a query on the usuage of Url parameter "sap-wd-client=XmlClient" in webdynpro application.
When i set the Application parameter property of webdynpro iview in portal as "sap-wd-client=XmlClient", i am getting the content of webdynpro appln in XML format. What is the use of this XML format.
Can we use this webdynpro appln in XML format in any other portal say Weblogic portal and produce an UI in that portal.
Let me know the use of this XML format.
Pls give me some exposure on this.
Thanks & Regards,
Siva

Hi sivakumar,
It is used for supplying data to another kind of client. You can download a trial version of it somewhere on SDN.

  • ABAP -WebDynpro - Read URL Parameter

    Hi,
We have a Custom 'Catalog' that needs to be called from SRM using OCI (Open Catalog Interface). We are developing this custom catalog using ABAP Web Dynpro. We have following issues because of which we are unable to communicate back to Shopping cart from the Custom Catalog:
    1. Unable to read the value of 'HOOK_URL' in WebDynpro application. We need this value so that it can be used as Exit URL. How and where do we read this URL parameter in ABAP WebDynpro ?
    2. How can we return the 'HTML Form' to SRM with the values from Custom Catalog to fill the shopping cart ?
    I would appreciate your help...
    Thanks
    Meenal

    Hi Menal,
    I had the same problem.
Did you define the HOOK_URL parameter in your webservice ? If not, do this 1st.
    2nd
In you Webdynpro read the HOOK_URL in your handledefault method your window. Store it e.g. as attrribute in you assistance class.
    method handledefault .
*&- Add FOF and HOOK_URL to assistanceclass attributes
      wd_assist->hook_url = hook_url.
    endmethod.
After this you can read your HOOK_URL e.g in a view via:
    concatenate 'HOOK_URL=' wd_assist->hook_url zlv_hook_url into zlv_hook_url
I hope your question is answered.
What I want to now is: How to controll the HOOK_URL so that the formfields of the extenal catalog is added to the shopping card. Do you now that ?

  • URL iView - ERROR Invalid URL parameter - sap-ext-sid - HTTPS link

    Dear Experts,
I have an uregent issue. I have configured an url iview, the link is HTTPS. it is not working from the portal. the system automatically concatenates some URL parameters like sap-ext-sid , sap-wd-finish-rendering.
Similar way i have configure some other links, they are all working without issue. But other links are just HTTP.
Could you please give a me clue to fix this issue.
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi,
Try opening the URL iVIew in a new page by providing the property "Open the page in New Window" instead of the same window. Are you trying to integrate WebDynpro ABAP iViews?

  • How to get value of URL parameter

    Hi,
If an ABAP Web Dynpro URL looks like this: http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zny_test1?sap-client=100&sap-language=EN, how to get value of the URL parameter “sap-client” at runtime in the application?
    Thanks,
    Nancy

The framework currently strips all the framework specific params.
Perhaps the will be made available in a future release.  Thomas, any comments ?
However, I dont understand the requriement to know the sap-client URL value.
If your code is running, a user has successfully connected to system a therefore he has a session open and this session is associated with exactly 1 client at any point in time.
    See SYSTEM VARAIBLE   SY-MANDT.
this represents the client in which the users session is running and negates the need to see
    sap-client URL value.

    Phil.

  • Different behavior when URL Parameter clientDebug is set

    Hi experts
I'm facing a strange behavior in my WebDynpro application.
Whenever I launch it with the URL parameter sap-wd-clientDebug set to X the interactiveForm element on one of my views works flawlessly (i.e. the assigned context nodes on my view get updated on each roundtrip and changes in the context are reflected in the interactiveForm). When sap-wd-clientDebug is not set however the interactiveForm still communicates with the WD (a breakpoint in a dummy OnSubmit action is triggered correctly when the submit button on the interactiveForm is pressed) but contex changes are no longer reflected in the interactiveForm. Only after navigating back and forth between my views does the interactiveForm get updated.
Any hints or ideas on how to solve this issue would be great.

    Hi,
You can use the following code to get parameters from an URL
    IWDProtocolAdapter protocolAdapter = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
    IWDRequest request = protocolAdapter.getRequestObject();
    String paramValue1 = request.getParameter("<URL Parameter name>");

  • Calling SAP GUI Client from a Java Webdynpro app.

    Hello experts,
We would like to call the SAP GUI client from a java WebDynpro application running without portal or ITS. Can it be done by having a web link, with mime registration in internet explorer to kick off the SAP GUI ? (similar behavior with a SAP favorite link saved on the desktop).
    many Thanks.

    Hi,
    Webdynpro possibilities:
    1. You can try to use LinkToUrl.
with reference to file://<exefile> or your weblink with the mime type (possibly some java coding can be required; I can try to help).
    2. other option is to use IFrame and you can use either href to your exe or weblink
    Web Explorers:
    1. IE: It should work. if you point to exe file popup window will be displayed asking for action (run, save, cance).
    2. Firefox: the only way I know to make it work is to modify nsHelperAppDlg.js file (if you need Firefox I can tell you how to modify the file).
    Kind Regards, Jack

  • Implications of Changing WebDynpro Parameter: sap.locking.maxWaitInterval

SAP [OSS note 1234847|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1234847] mentions changing the WebDynpro parameter sap.locking.maxWaitInterval
What are the implications of setting this to 30 minutes or 1 hour?

    Hi Juan,
Yes the value is in seconds. I raised the question with SAP OSS and they replied with a good answer:
As the note 1234847 explains,s soon as a request for a user session is processed, the user session is blocked for the duration of the request i.e. there is always at most one thread that has acquired the lock of a user session.
Concurrent requests which refer to the same user session (i.e. triggeredfrom the same browser process) are serialized and processed one after each other. If there is a request which blocks or hangs due to some waiting/blocking condition, then other concurrently incoming requests are waiting for a certain period of time that the user session lock is released. If they can't acquire the user session lock after this time interval, the waiting thread terminates with a LockException error page.
In such cases, the "sap.locking.maxWaitInterval" is helpful. Depending on the requests, administrators can increase it.
In previous cases, we have had customers increase it from 100s to 300s (or 500s) in the Web Dynpro default.properties, depending on their need. This will not make the server processing time slow, but there will be anextra buffer time so that the user request can pass through.
Customers vary the values of the parameter depending on the long runningapplications.
    More information is available: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce71/helpdata/en/43/8a1a8ece230c8ce10000000a11466f/content.htm
SAP note 1113811 also provides some info..
However, if even after increasing this parameter, if there are locking issues, then this can be due to a application error. We will
need to anayse a thread dump to check the status of the threads during the locking process. As you are aware, it is the java threads that are responsible for the actual carrying out of the server tasks, akin to the ABAP work processes.

  • How to catch URL parameter from Portal URL in Web Dynpro iView

    Hi All,
I have a web dynpro application running as a portal iView successfully. Now the client wants to make it internationalized with 7 languages. Currently they access the portal - and via role assignment they get to the portal tab with the wd iView. Now they want to send a parameter for the language key with the portal URL. So when they are typing in http://myportal.mydomain.com now they want to type in http://myportal.mydomain.com?sap-locale=de or so. My question is how can I catch this parameter in the WD application when it is running inside a portal iView? Is it at all possible?
I have written a very small application which is trying to catch a URL parameter named PARAM. The code I have written is the default one as below:
    String paramValue = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("PARAM");
When I run the application standalone and add the PARAM=something in last of the URL I can catch it. But when I create an iView and while previewing it I add the same PARAM value it is coming as null all the time. Same when I add this iView to a role and show it via role assignment in protal. Please help to let me know how to achieve this. I think if I can read the parameter value from Portal URL in the WD iView - then I can set it as the default locale of the application and then show language specific file to achieve internationalization.
Your urgent help will be highly appreciated.
    Warm Regards,
    Shubho

    Hi Shubhadip
Even if you get the parameters, how do you internationalize your application? Are you not following the standard way as described in the following link. In this case you never need to capture any such parameter. This is done by the WD runtime automatically .
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f4/d95664da179b4db731e21c2e470b72/frameset.htm">Internationalization of WD projects</a>
You can retrieve application parameters specified at the creation of iview by "adding parameters(with the same name as in iview application parameters) to the default plug of the Component Interface View of the WD application". "onDefaultPlug" method of the interface view controller you get these values as parameters, which you can save in the context node of component controller for later use. This is guaranteed to work.
But again this is not what you want exactly. You want the user to specify the value at runtime. If you have just 7 languages, you can create 7 set of iviews with different application parameter value indicating language key, and assign to 7 different set of roles, each representing one set of users with common language.
I hope you find a solution.

  • HTTP Sender - how to read URL Parameter USER id into Mapping

    Hi,
My scenario is HTTP - XI - ABAP Proxy.
I wanted to capture USER id of the person who posted(HTTP) into XI(Mapping). How to read/evaluate the value of sap-user from querystring of URL ?
    http://HOST:8008/sap/xi/adapter_plain?namespace=http%3A//abc.com/sales_oa&interface=MI_sales_OA&service=DEV_D&party=&agency=&scheme=&QOS=EO&<b>sap-user=SM9999</b>&sap-password=xxxxx&sap-client=001&sap-language=EN
    please help.

    Mallik,
Try  URL Parameters in HTTP sender communication channel.
In the sender communication channel set Adapter Specific Message Attributes. Click on Apply URL Parameters. In Parameter1 put sap-user (U can query any URL parameter by giving its name as in the HTTP URL).
Now in SXMB_MONI, in inbound payload SOAP Header, under Dynamic configuration u can see the value of the user. Query the same in Mapping using Dynamic Configuration using keyName as UrlParamOne.

  • Pass a parameter to Surikogiflex client

    Hello all,
I'd like to know if it is possible to pass a parameter to Surikogiflex client, to be able to tell it to open a certain story.
For example, I wonder if it is possible to have in an html page a link like
    <a href="localhost:8400/suribachi/clients/surikogiflex/?icml=/documents/doc1/story1.icml">Ed it story in Surikogi</a>
and when the user clicks it have Surikogiflex client open loading the selected story, without passing from the Document browser window.
    Is something like this possible?
Please assume that the correct <story> tags are present on the storylist.xml file in the /suribachiassets directory.
    Thanks.

i am trying to pass the parent_id as a parameter to a portal page but am not able to... i can add it to the list of in parameters to the PL/SQL based parent id but when i add the parent id to the url then i get no result... i created a custom attribute for the parent id since there is no attribute build other then page group and page id... when I set the Parent ID attributes default value in the attribute properties of the item type based on PL/SQL it just brings back results for the default value and if i pass a different value for ithe parent id i dont get the correct result I get the result for the default parent id.
I am using the followin url to pass the parent id
    http://localhost:7778/portal/page?_pageid=76,87832&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&parentid=22223

  • WebDynpro in HTMLControl of SAP-GUI?

    Hi,
I want to call my WebDynpro Application from the SAP-GUI in a HTML-Control. Displaying is not the problem, but I also want to notice in SAP-GUI application (which called the WebDynpro) which button was pressed by the user in WebDynpro. Is this possible???
In HTML and BSP there is the possibility to fire the event "sapevent".
    Best Regards
    Katharina

    Hi
It seems something new :). But what you can do is try to capture the id of the button and set it in a context variable. Say for example if the id of the button is "Close" then you can fire a exit plug in the Window interface view of the component.
To create a exit plug to the component
    Open your Window Interface View.
Create a Outbound plug and define it of type "exit plug"
Define a url parameter "Url" (It has to be exactly the way i have mentioned (Url)"). Now this url could be some empty page or something.
This is just an idea. Let me know if that helps you in the situation. I have done it from WebDynpro to SAPGUi, but not the other way around :).
Let me know if that helped you.
    regards
    ravi
