WebElements, Custom HTML and missing !DOCTYPE
In our Crystal Reports, we are using a combination of the WebElements library along with a custom HTML function library to display advanced HTML elements for parameter selection. Our custom HTML library contains some JQUERY UI components. We are using IE7. Our BO environment is R3 SP4.
The issue that I have encountered is that the JQUERY UI components require a valid <!DOCTYPE> specification to render correctly - such as <!DOCTYPE HTML> or <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> but from my research, the Crystal Report Viewer appears to not be adding a valid <!DOCTYPE> specification to its HTML stream (which most modern HTML always includes).
Without the presence of a valid <!DOCTYPE> specification, IE7 is rendering the HTML in a "BackCompat" mode instead of a "CSS1Compat" mode.
Any help in overcoming this issue - or getting SAP to add <!DOCTYPE> to the Crystal Report viewer - would be greatly
appreciated!
Hello Jamie,
thank you alot for your suggestions. In detail i am facing the same problem described in this thread:
Setting the HTML DOCTYPE with WAD?
This thread and also my problem deals with DOCTYPE problems within BW 3.5 Web Application Designer using standard web templates. The websites are generated/rendered by a class called CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_TEMPLATE which inserts javascript before the DOCTYPE tag.
One solution would be to change the standard class by:
1. Creating a new class inheriting from CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_TEMPLATE
2. Overload the method RENDER, copy all code and concatenate at the end of the method the DOCTYPE element to the member n_sx_output-string
3. Adjust the setting of the default template within the table RSRRENDERERATR for the key REN_NAME=CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_TEMPLATE, ATTR_NAME=NAME. Change the field VALUE from "CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_TEMPLATE" to the new class.
This solution should work, but is kind of crappy and the risk for side effects on other renderings is too high.
I was not able to find the note mentioned in the posting of Joel Blackthorne. What does "customer note" mean?
I will also post this message within the other thread, because it is a little off topic here, i guess. Sorry for that.
Thanks again, Jamie,
Regards Felix

Custom html and css broken in BC
I have created some content in iWeb. A photo gallery that doesn't work when uploaded to BC.
It works fine when I upload to a different Host.

PHP page with HTML and /HTML DOCTYPE ??
The sample forms that come with my formmail script start out
with a <php
and ?> then has embeded php code within the following
<html> - but no
DOCTYPE is specified.
Do I need a doctype in this kind of document?
Where should it to?
Above the initial <php?
After the ?> and before the <html>
OK - dumb question, but Quirks is bad and I don't know the
answer.

The W3C validator will never see the PHP since it will have
already been
stripped from the page by the server before uploading the
resulting HTML
page to the validator.

Of course if the page contains PHP then there is (unless you
have your
server set to parse all file extensions). And, in general,
there is a
benefit to naming all pages with *.php extensions in that if
you ever decide
to add PHP scripting to any page in your site, you don't have
to worry
about search engine ramifications when you change that file's
extension.
Good luck Dan!

I'm an artist with a number of CDs in the itunes store and most of the customer reviews and ratings are missing or hidden. I know there have been reviews posted but I can't see them on my computer in the itunes store. Anyone have a solution?
You aren't being left in any lurch. Your hardware is obsolete, and the software world has moved on. If you have a qualm about the matter then discuss it with the software's developers. Apple is not responsible for software they do not develop. This is technology, and you will just need to get used to it.

Doctype html and instancebegin template
I have a template I've created in Dreamweaver 5.5 in which the first line reads <!DOCTYPE html>
When I create a document from this template, the first line is changed to:
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/default.dwt.php" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" --><!DOCTYPE html>
This messes up Internet Explorer really bad.
Is there a way to tell Dreamweaver to either (1) move InstanceBegin code somewhere else or (2) drop it entirely?
Firefox, Chrome, Safari and the browser that comes with the Kindle Fire are unbothered by this excess code. Internet explorer, however, is destroyed by this.
TIA
John HughesThis comment: <!-- TemplateInfo codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="true" --> MUST BE placed BETWEEN the <html> and the <head> OR before the conditional comments so that the changes made to this section on your template(s) will reflect on all pages created from them.
Below is what I have on my template:

Can I create a subdirectory and custom html file within a domain?
I'm preparing to migrate to a new weblogic server but recently realized that the new url address for users will be different from the original (current) url. Is there a way that I can simply create the root context of the original url within the new server?
So, if the original url is http://aliasname/subdir/subdir/file.html ; and the new url is http://aliasname/domain
...can I manually create the subdir's within the root of the new server and create my own file.html that basically provides a message to the users that the current url has changed?
That way, users who don't happen to update their bookmarks, will be updated and redirected to the new site. I'm new to weblogic and am coming from an MSFT IIS background where I could handle this simply by doing just what I described above in my question.
Thanks in advance!The best is to have IIS handle that kind of work. Note that you use IIS as a front-end for WebLogic, such that requests meant
for WebLogic are forwarded by using the IIS plug-in - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e14395/isapi.htm#BGBBCFID -
How to use custom HTML page in flex web application with out using iframe
Hi all,
I have to import a custom HTML page (that has got links to another html pages) inside my flex web application and i dont want to use IFrame. Can you please suggest me with best example.
Please help me out as i'm new to flex.
Thanks,
Swetha.Hi, there:
Best thing to do is to start with the default login.html page, and then modify it. The login screen is fairly complex and it's easy to just miss a JS function you need to call. To get to default page, you would need to do one deploy (to simulator or whatever), and then look for login.html page in the temporary Xcode or Android project generated from the deployment. It should be under the "deploy" directory in your JDev workspace.
You can also see all the framework JS files and CSS files that way as well.
We have had customers implementing custom login screen so we know it can work, but they all had to start with the default login screen and then modify it.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I have seen this topic broached before but, in spite of many hours searching, haven't found the answer I'm looking for...
I jave a JTextPane containing an HTMLDocument and want to render elements within my own custom tag 'Custom' outlined in red.
I have subclassed HTMLEditorKit as follows:import javax.swing.text.ViewFactory;
import javax.swing.text.html.HTMLEditorKit;
public class HTMLEditorKitForCustom extends HTMLEditorKit{
public ViewFactory getViewFactory(){
return htmlFactoryForCustom;
private static final ViewFactory htmlFactoryForCustom = new HTMLFactoryForCustom();
}I have subclassed HTMLEditorKit.HTMLFactory as follows:import javax.swing.text.View;
import javax.swing.text.Element;
import javax.swing.text.html.HTMLEditorKit;
import javax.swing.text.StyleConstants;
public class HTMLFactoryForCustom extends HTMLEditorKit.HTMLFactory{
public View create(Element element){
Object object = element.getAttributes().getAttribute(StyleConstants.NameAttribute);
if(CustomView.CUSTOM_KEY_TAG.equals(object)){
return new CustomView(element);
return super.create(element);
}And, I have subclassed LabelView as follows:public class CustomView extends LabelView{
public CustomView(Element element){
super(element);
public void paint(Graphics g, Shape a){
super.paint(g, a);
Rectangle rectangle = a instanceof Rectangle ? (Rectangle)a : a.getBounds();
Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D)g;
g.setColor(Color.RED);
g.drawRect(rectangle.x, rectangle.y, rectangle.width, rectangle.height);
public static final String CUSTOM_KEY_TAG = "Custom";
public static final String CUSTOM_TYPE_TAG = "ccVarType";
public static final String CUSTOM_NUMERIC_TYPE_TAG_VALUE = "Numeric";
}The JTextPane in question has its EditorKit set to my HTMLEditorKitForCustom throughtextPane.setEditorKit(new HTMLEditorKitForCustom();In combination, these classes ensure that when a <Custom>...</Custom> set of tags is encountered, the text between is rendered with a red outline.
This works fine when the custom tags and text are inserted but, as soon as a change is made that affects the paragraph containing the custom tags (for example, change alignment, font size, etc.), the content disappears. However, the underlying HTML still shows the <Custom> tag, but with no closing tag and without the text the tags once contained.
E.g. <Custom>Fred</Custom> becomes simply <Custom>.
Any help in solving this problem will be greatly appreciated!
Chris.Stas, thanks for your response!
I did try registering the tag, and associating it with a SpecialAction then with a CharacterAction (I want the user to be able to change the font style, etc. of these Custom items).
I did this by creating HTMLDocumentForCustom (original name, huh!), subclassing HTMLDocument and inner HTMLReaderForCustom:// (Within HTMLDocumentForCustom)
public class HTMLReaderForCustom extends HTMLReader{
public HTMLReaderForCustom(int pos){
super(pos, 0, 0, null);
registerTag(new HTML.UnknownTag(CustomView.CUSTOM_KEY_TAG), new SpecialAction());
}Then I created a new HTMLDocumentForCustom and did textPane.setDocument(document). Now, when I inserted the text between Custom tags, I got this exception:javax.swing.text.BadLocationException: Invalid insert;
at javax.swing.text.GapContent.insertString(GapContent.java:109);
at javax.swing.text.AbstractDocument.handleInsertString(AbstractDocument.java:722);I was using the following code to insert the text:SimpleAttributeSet attributes = new SimpleAttributeSet();
attributes.addAttribute(StyleConstants.NameAttribute, CustomView.CUSTOM_KEY_TAG);
try{
document.insertString(1, "Custom Here!", attributes);
catch(BadLocationException ble){
ble.printStackTrace();
}Inserting at position 1 was working fine before trying to subclass HTMLDocument and HTMLReader, and there's already text in the document before trying the insert -- in fact it didn't matter what the insert location was set to, the exception kept occurring.
Can you see anything obvious I've missed or am I barking totally up the wrong tree?

Learning HTML and CSS for DWCS3
How do I determine what Page type and Layout to use for each
webpage, as I do not have the trial and error experience with being
a web designer?
I'm reading "The Missing Manual" and HTML books. I've also
been learning a lot from these forums... what to do and what not to
do. I've started our new website with a blank HTML template in DW,
though the more I read - the more I realize I am not informed. Like
one of the Newsgroup Pros (Murray) on this site has indicated about
his scheme for laying out a website, I now know that I need a
layout plan for this website. Since I used to create databases, I
know the questions to ask to layout the relational tables for the
optimal result and making the front end easy enough for a Monkey to
use. However, this is my first website ever and with a new
employer. I've already loaded our products in the purchased
shopping cart and I have a mock up for the website Home page. There
will be an additional 6 webpages. Any suggestions are greatly
appreciated.> >What page type? Not sure what you mean here.

That's OK. You could also select Blank HTML, build your page,
and then use
FILE | Save As Template. Either path will get you a DW
Template at the end.
If you would be using server scripting on the child pages,
then you would
want to use FILE | New > whatever scripting model is
appropriate, and then
the latter method when you are ready to save the page as a
Template (FILE |
Save as Template....) so that DW can set the appropriate
extension
(*.dwt.php for a PHP template, for example).

You would get this information by watching a typical user's
screen.

That's no help. You may be able to guess by evaluating the
technical
inclination of your typical user. People who are less familar
with
computers will likely not know that they can maximize their
browser to fill
the entire screen. You would also want to know how old the
typical computer
being used in your demographic is. Older computers tend to
have smaller and
lower resolution screens, therefore narrower browser
viewports.

Flexible (within

Actually, I think the better choice would be fixed width and
centered, but
since that's my personal preference I'm likely biased.

Custom Web Auth - Missing "Submit" Button
I have scoured every topic I can get my hands on here at NetPro regarding custom web authentication. I am currently supporting a customer that MUST use a custom web page for two reasons:
1. Cosmetically, and rightfully so, they would like to use their own logo. Well, why not just upload the custom image, you say? See point 2...
2. Their custom AUP is beyond the allowed 2047 characters in the default template.
So I used the default internal template for a test login, and viewed the source to grab the HTML code. I know how to read HTML, so I began commenting out the sidebar, text, and headers that I didn't want. I then inserted the custom logo and AUP text. Visually, the page is fine. However, when I preview the page, the "Submit" button is completely missing. This is true both locally, as well as when it is uploaded to the controller. I also uploaded from the controller the 'loginscript.js' file by selecting file type 'configuration' and inputting the name 'loginscript.js'. I am including that information as well because I know other people have posted asking how to get that, and I haven't seen anyone respond with such instructions. I figured it out on my own after trial and error. If it can be obtained via WCS, it would be nice if someone would post that (other than the same method I used, simply using WCS as the management tool instead of direct controller access). My controller is running code 4.1.185.0, same as my customer's controller. I modified the reference for the javascript source from src="./loginscript.js" to simply src="loginscript.js" because I am putting the script and the login.html file in the same directory. If there is a different directory structure required, I haven't found any documentation saying so other than another NetPro post indicating "Web Authentication_files" folder (whatever that means)? I also noticed that some folks are saying that such a page would have to be run on an External server. If so, why?
Regards,
ScottWeb authentication files are stored in Web Authentication_files directory which controllers can recognize. . If you want to use a different directory it is used on External Web server so that there is no conflct in the storage location.

How to invoke Custom HTML pages on Dashboard page when running OBIEEon AIX
Hi,
i am facing an issue with regards to invoking a custom HTML page( say definitions.html) using html code inside a text section( with html markup) on a dashboard page.
I have performed the following configuration on Windows and it perfectly works well
However i can get the same to work on AIX where i actually needed it to work:)
Could any of you please provide any insights over this issue pls? am i missing something obvious? Appreciate your inputs.
Here is the description of the configuration performed.
Created a HTML file called definitions.html
copied the file in the following folders
OracleBI\web\app\res
OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\Missing_
I have created a new folder called _Missing.
I restarted the app server
HTML code on the Dashboard Page ( used Text section with HTML Markcup)
<b>Help
I have checked the permissions on the custom page and it loosk fine. I have added <HardenXSS> false</HardenXSS>tag to my instanceconfig.xml but not luck yet
Appreciate your inputs
ThanksThe easiest thing for you to do is to download the Oracle BI SampleApp (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obiee-samples-167534.html) and follow their instructions for install/creating/deploying the analyticsRes application on the Oracle BI Application Server. This will allow you to have a URL such as http://myserver.obiee.com:9704/analyticRes/definitions.html on the same server system as your Oracle BI server. This way the port and domain are the same as your Oracle BI Server and you can simply place any additional web based file in that deployed application path to reference on your Oracle BI Server.

Sending Email using both HTML and plain text
I could use some advise on how to start researching email for
both HTML and plain text messages.
I have a script called class.phpMail.php, but the code is
alittle advanced for me. Basically I can't get
it to work on my server and I don't know where to begin the
learning process here.
I talked to my provider, "HOST" company goDaddy.com and I was
told that to connect so that I could send email I would need this
line of code. They didn't say it should by in my php.ini file but
that was where I found it.
SMTP = relay-hosting.secureserver.net
This is the smtp address that my provider uses to make the
connection with my mail client.
I was told that with this line of code I would not need a
password or username
I did some further reseach and I found an article that stated
that my original error:
Warning: fsockopen() expects parameter 2 to be long, string
given in ...../php/class.smtp.php on line 105
was being caused by this code because the $port value needed
to be between 1 - 65365:
$this->smtp_conn = fsockopen($host, # the host of the server
$port, # the port to use ----- "this is line 105"
$errno, # error number if any
$errstr, # error message if any
$tval); # give up after ? secs
In particular the $port value was coming in corrupted and
that I needed to cast it.
I did as they suggested and made it an (int) as they
suggested.
$this->smtp_conn = fsockopen($host, # the host of the server
(int)$port, # the port to use
$errno, # error number if any
$errstr, # error message if any
$tval); # give up after ? secs
It resolved part of the error message however, the other half
of the error message is shown below:
Message could not be sent.
Mailer Error: Language string failed to load: connect_host
What exactly is the connect_host they refer to in this
message?
Would it be the string in my php.ini file refering to the
SMTP = relay-hosting.secureserver.net
I have allot of what I think are disconnected questions as I
really have just begun to work
with the mail() function. If anyone has the time to educate
this newbie into the wonderful
world of email() I would appreciate it.
Thank You
Kevin RaleighSorry to dig up an old post, but we've spent the last few days trying to work out why an email campaign being sent from BC is going into the Junk folder of recipients that use MS Exchange. We've fixed quite a lot of issues, including the fact that Legacy Templates have random JS injected just before they get sent, so we had to switch to the new template system. We've narrowed the issue down to one of three things:
1. A missing alt tag on the tracking image that BC drops into the email (pretty unlikely)
2. The BC Europe IP (54.240.14.45) is blacklisted here: UCEPROTECTL2 (possible, but if you actually look it's not the IP itself, but another IP on the same network, so unlikely)
3. The fact that the HTML email has no text component.
I agree, BC is late on this but I think that it needs to be added, even if most users have HTML-ready email clients, spam checkers do seem to prefer multi-MIME emails.
This is backed up by the following SpamAssassin rule, which we are currently unable to resolve:
-1.105
MIME_HTML_ONLY
Message only has text/html MIME parts
You should also include a text version of your message (text/plain)
So in my opinion, BC do still need to add this as a feature, otherwise the system is not viable for our customers and we'll have to look elsewhere.
