Webforms 6.0 without JInitiator
My forms only works in Web interface using JInitiator.
I have used Netscape 4.6.1.
Does have anybody already worked with Webforms without use
JInitiator and using Netscape?.
Thanks

Run Webforms without Jinitiator?
Hi,
Can I run Webforms without Jinitiator?
I have:
Win NT 4.0 SP5
OAS 4.0.8.1
Forms Developer Server (6i)
Jinitiator 1.1.7.28
Internet Explorer 5
nullyes you're in luck with MS IE 5.0.
Look at the client platform statement of direction for more details. -
Hi,
Has anyone deployed Forms 4.5 using native Java Virtual Machine (VM) of browser ( i.e without Jinitiator)?
We have got the Forms 4.5 working with the native VM on our development box, but I find some inconsistency in the behavior. These inconsistency are mostly cosmetic, but I have found couple of serious problem which are beyond developers scope. (Observation are mentioned at the bottom)
Does it pay to move to higher version of Forms? Is there any White paper from Oracle explaining these?
Thanks,
Sanjay.
Observations
Cosmetic:
Field labels are not aligned in IE 5 but Netscape 4.73 is o.k. Again this problem in IE is windows version dependent
Functional:
Clicking reload on browser
IE 5 - New applet is launched
Netscape- Existing applet is closed
and new applet appears
Certain bugs are fixed by Oracle, reappear.
nullI am using Dev 2K Forms ver 6 compiled with Dev 2K ver 6i and had problems with using the Java VM with IE 5.0. (Same results with compiling with Forms ver 6.0)
I set the required parameter to use the native VM, calling the cgiexe from the web page.
I would also like to know how to make this work if anyone knows. It would avoid the customer having to download and install Jinitiator on every workstation that needs web access to the forms.
thanks, Louis D. -
Wbe deployment of forms without JInitiator
Hi,
Can anyone please send me the document that explains how to run
Oracle Developer 6.0 Applications in IE 6.0., without JInitiator.
at [email protected]
If that also has a sample html page that would be great

Need to set up an App Server environment which does not need to download anything to the client browser.
ie running from internet cafe.
Can app server 9i use the local/native jave machine instead of downloading jinititor ?
Any comments would be appreciated
IanIan,
Yes, with IE 5.x you don't have to use jinitiator. Take a look at the formsweb.cfg file:
; The next parameter specifies how to execute the Forms applet under
; Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. Put IE50=native if you want the
; Forms applet to run in the browser's native JVM.
#IE50=JInitiator
IE50=native
But your browser will still have to download the jar-files
kind regards,
Ivan

Running forms without JInitiator
Hello
We have been building and deploying a number of forms based applications using JInitiator for clients inhouse use which works fine.
We now need to build an application that will be available to the public via the internet. The problem is that people will not download JInitiator because they don't know what it is and are worried it is adware or worse.
Is it possible to run Oracle forms using the standard Sun Java JVM downloads for Windows?
If it is could anyone give me some clues how to do it please?
Thanks in advance
DaveAsli,
Welcome to the Oracle Forums. Please take a few minutes and review the following:

</ul>
You should always create a new post - never usurp someone else's post. If you need to reference another post, just include the URL to the post in yours.
I've tryied the resolution that you prefered but there is no IE=JIinitiator line in my formsweb.cfg file...As you have found, this setting is not included in Forms 10g R1 - this is a Forms 9i or 10g R1 (9.0.4.x.x) setting.
As to your question of setting up Forms 10g to use the Sun JRE, there are numerous threads in the forum on this topic.
The basics of the setup are as follows; you will need to modify the following lines of the \forms\server\formsweb.cfg:
#baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm -- Original
baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm -- New
#jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA -- Original
jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA -- New
#jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.2_06 -- Original
jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0 -- NewNote: The above settings are for Sun JRE 1.6.0 (any update version). If you will be using version 1.5, you will need to change the 6's to 5's. ;-) You might need to make additional changes, but these basic changes should get you started.
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

FRM-40735 on the Web, in client/server without error
We have 2 types of Form modules.
Type 1 are simple multirecord modules,
which uses PL/SQL library module PL1.plx.
Type 2 are complex (master-detail) modules,
which uses PL/SQL library module PL2.plx.
In client/server, both types of Form modules work fine.
On the Web (Intranet), type 1 modules works fine, but loading of type 2 modules finishes with error: FRM-40735 PRE-FORM trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-06508.
In both cases database schema and fmx/plx modules are the same.
Implementation of WebForms is noncartridge
(without Oracle Application Server).
Clients use Jinitiator and IE4.
Forms version is 5 + patch 7.
DBMS version is 7.3.4.0.
Thanks and regards.Two questions:
Are you running your application against one DB, while it was compiled against another?
If any of your forms or libraries is calling DB stored package that are passing parameters in between database and modules?
If the answer to both questions is yes, then you're dealing with Oracle bug. Oracle support points to interaction between forms
PL/SQL 8.0.5.1.0 and database PL/SQL 2.3.4.
This problem should be fixed in the forms
PL/SQL 8.1.6 which is not available at present time. The only work around is to maintain forms executable and/or compiled libraries for each of your DB.
Good luck.

Looking for JInitiator for Linux
Does anyone have access to the JInitiator for Linux. Even if it is beta?
Jinitiator is not needed when you use old versions of browsers on Windows. There is information that IE 5.5 is reliable enough to be used without Jinitiator.
Instead browsers you can use appletviewer in JDK.
Avoid the usage of Linux on front-end (end-user) machines.

Dear All,
I have installed Jinitiator on the web server and included Jinitiator tags in the html forms that call d2k forms. But on one of my client machine, I have :
1. Installed Jinitiator
2. I havent included any other JVM on this machine
However, when I run my application, the forms take too long to open, which is the problem.
On another client machine, following has been done :
1. I did not include Jinitiator
2. Installed JVM only (ver IE 5.x)
On this second machine, the forms are opening at a relatively good speed.
Can someone suggest what could be the problem with Jinitiator on the first machine?
please note that I cannot install JVM on this machine because of some version conflict with the existing Internet Explorer ver 4.0
This is extrememly urgent, so would appreciate some help from anyone on this issue.
Thanks
nullOne reason for the delay is that Jinitiator does two things every time it starts:
1. it compares the versions of the JAR files cached on the browsers with these available on the Forms server - you loose time for communication.
2. It inzipps the JAR files on the browser
The advantage is that so you have a reliable enviroinment to run forms on the WEB.
I heard that after version 5.5 IE is reliable enough to run in Native mode (without Jinitiator, but it loads about 1.MB specific JARs). -
Jinitiator for Linux or Appletviewer
I have searched for this without any luck, so I'll post it here.
We are currently running Oracle Apps 11.0.3 on a Solaris server. I would like to be able to easily run the apps from my linux workstation. I have been able to get into them with the appletviewer, but it gives the yellow band stating it isn't happy about something. I am using the standard jdk 1.2 download for linux.
Is there a jinitiator for linux being developed? Or are there instructions on how to setup jdk to work with the Oracle Apps?Jinitiator is not needed when you use old versions of browsers on Windows. There is information that IE 5.5 is reliable enough to be used without Jinitiator.
Instead browsers you can use appletviewer in JDK.

user600252You haven't specified so far what is on the server side, nor the Oracle version installed on your SLES, are you talking about Application Server ? Forms deployment or Discoverer? Depending on what is at the server side you will be required to configure some files there to define which Java environment will be configured for the client. On the client side the configured plugin will be requested.
It is important to define also if you are planning to use only database on the server side, as well as the version of it, since there are Oracle products that require the Jinitiator to launch applets, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager.

nullI had the same problem for the longest time... The problem is
the "SplashScreen" it hangs everything up...
My solution was add this line to your html:
<param name="splashScreen" value="no">
Good luck,
Let me know if that works..

Developer Server 6.0 hanging when launched from Netscape 4.6
Hi, simple question to ask about OAS and Developer Server.
My Developer Server 6.0 hanging when launched from Netscape 4.61,
I am currently running...
Pentium PII 200Mz running NT sp5
Forms Server version 6.0.5.31.0 (Patch 3 applied)
OAS version 4.0.7.1.0 (Patch applied)
Jinitiator 1.1.7.18
Netscape 4.61 browser
I have all the latest versions of everything that is available,
I have followed the instructions.
I successfully connect to the OAS admin utility and have setup
all the virtual to physical directory mappings under the default
listener www. I successfully start all website OAS services.
I have Forms server successfully started up as a process
listening on port 9000.
I have two statics html files created:
a) with Jinititator 1.1.7.18
The very first time I connected to this static html file it
installed Jinitiator as expected. The Forms server splashscreen
then appears.
Jinitiator then starts up successfully, no errors appear in the
Java console. This has proved I am talking to the listener and
my virtual directory mappings are working.
At this point there is a lot of disk activity and then all
stops, the splashscreen remains and appears in the discussion
area:
FRM-9999 cannot access "koala.ilaco.gov.bo:9000" and
a series of java exceptions
I am pointing to the correct java directories (I think)
b) with out Jinitiator
When I try to call using URL with Netscape 4.61 I get a
message on the status bar saying...
Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main class oracle/forms/engine/Main
got a security violation: Method verification error
Can you help ?
If you know the answer, please let me know as soon as
posible.
Thanks for the answer....

I respond your email, with my actual server configuration my
problem is now: I get the splash screen and after form is hanged.
My server configuration is:
Compaq PC, with Pentium II, the software is:
- Windows NT, with Service Pack 5
- Oracle Application Server, v.4.0.7.1.0 Enterprice Edition,
pathset 1
- Developer Server v.6 patchset 3
- My browser in this machine is Netscape 4.61
- Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 is also used.
My developer server is installed and running on the same machine
that OAS is. I am using other browser in other machine (IE5)
and trying to connect to the OAS on the first machine.
My problems begin when I launch ifsrv60.exe. I copied
ifwcm60.dll v.6.0.5.0.2, and other files required in the %
ORACLE_HOME%\bin
I forced listener Developer Server Port (
c:\orant\bin\ifsrv60.exe -listen port=9000 )
Now, I can connect with this process, with the following line:
telnet koala 9000. The listener is working now.
I tried to work with my (NonCartride-static html)forms60 form on
WEB without Jinitiator, but I couldn't.
With Netscape, in the status bar: Applet
oracle.forms.engine.Main can3t stop ERROR
With IE5, I get the splash screen and after the forms is hanged.
If I use Jinitiator:
With Netscape, in the status bar: Oracle Jinitiato: applet
oracle.forms.engine.Main inited then form is hanged.
With IE5, I get the splash screen and after that, the screen
freezes and looks like the form is hanged.
Any further suggestions on this?
