Webi Xi 3.1 SP2 Variable editor

Hi
I am having problems getting an If then else statment to work.
the report has been conversted from E6.5.1 full client to Webi XI 3.1 SP2 FP 2.4.
In E6 a function had been created this continues to work fine, these functions have been converted into report Variables.
Is there any way of stepping though the if then else statment checking the values returned at each point in the process. As you can with such programs as VBA?
I'm using the java editing tool to edit and modify the Variables.

Hi Cranston,
The formula for IF THEN ELSE differs for FULL CLIENT and WEBI (THIN CLIENT) versions.
Just to give you an idea:
FULL CLIENT HAD: If <Sales Value> > 1000000 Then 'High' Else 'Low'
WEBI FORMAT IS: If([Sales Value] > 1000000;"High";"Low")
Until the formula is modified as per WEBI format, you would receive #ERROR in your report. Also, there is no way to check returned by each of the embedded IF THEN ELSE statements, it has to be done manually.

On a particular Webi report, when I create a new variable using the Variable Editor, if I re-enter the Editor, the window 'shimmys' as if it is stuck in a loop constantly refreshing the Editor screen. If a delete the last variable created, the behavior ceases. It doesn't matter what I create for a variable, it just won't let me add one.

I have discovered the cause of this behavior and it appears to be a bug in WebI.
The main factor seems to be the length of the program name, particularly the number of continuous characters, combined with the size of the available objects list. When I created one too many variables in the variable editor, the behavior of the looping refresh began. By expanding the editor window, it stopped. The permanent fix turned out to be getting out to the folders pane and saving the report with a different name - in my case, putting an extra space in the name.

Webi XI 3.1 SP2 LOAD TESTING ISSUE WITH LOAD RUNNER

We are launching a test campaign in order to test the Webi XI 3.1 SP2 (FP2.2) platform to validate it is capable to host 150 concurents users.
The test is pretty simple:
Logon to Infoview
Navigate to the Document list page
Make a search to find the adequate report
Open this document
Fill the prompts (doc is auto refresh)
Wait for the results
Logoff InfoView
The problem is related to the tool with which we are scripting that is not able to run this script (Tool is Load Runner (ex Mercury)). In fact, we are able to capture the script correctly but when it is replayed, it crashes when displaying the document list page as it can't find the frame with the list of documents and the tree view...
Do you know whether there are some specific settings to make it working correctely?
For information, the Protocol used for our testing are:
Web Click-&-Script
HTTP-HTML
AJAX

I've used LoadRunner for this purpose before. There is a tutorial that comes with the product. My suggestion is to go through that and from there you should be able to get it working with enterprise. I feel that's the best way to get up and running quickly.

Copy a configuration into Multiple Variable Editor

Using the Multiple Variable Editor in LabVIEW could be improved by being able to copy column entries from excel or a text file into the editor.

Open Multiple Variable Editor in VI

Hi folks,
is there any way to open the Multiple Variable Editor programmatically in a VI?
ATM i'm migrating a measurement logging system from LabVIEW 7 to LabVIEW 2010 which means i'm mostly rewriting the code for use with shared variables. It would be useful if the measurement engineers could reconfigre - e.g. rescale or smthg - variables when the software is already running as it was somehow possible with the Tag Configuration Editor, and instead of writing these menus again i'd like to pop up LabVIEWs MVE or the builtin properties page of a shared variable.
Hints, useful links or any other help welcomed!

LV 8.2 DSC Multiple Variable Editor - Import/Export bug?

Hi,
Has anyone used the export/import feature in the Multiple Variable Editor in LV DSC 8.2? I'm having problems importing a Comma Separated Variable (CSV) file and it fails to include the "Bind to Source" parameters.
You can test this by simply exporting a bound variable and then importing it into a new library. Not all the features are imported.
Is this a bug or have I simply not read the documentation or is it not meant to work like this!?

Apparently this has been identified by Doug Mumford (NI) in an email to our consultant (ThinkG):
"There is a bug in the importing/exporting of CSV files using the Multiple Variable Editor. This will be addressed in the next maintence release of LabVIEW. Attached is a VI that should fix this -- make a backup of the original and replace it with the attached VI. The path to this VI is <labview>\resource\dialog\variable."
See Doug, he'll have the VI.
The bug omitted a ":" e.g. "Network Buffsize" instead of "Network:Buffsize" so that when items were imported back in the items were loaded incorrectly.

Enabling end - user access in Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP2

Hi,
I am new to Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP2 and I can't figure how to enable the end user access so that the end users can change their password.
On iPlanet 6.0 SP2, in the Distributed Admin page, I could enable Distrubuted Administration as well as end user access on the webserver. The end users could then change their own password. I can't find a similar feature in Sun One Web server 6.1 SP2.
Could anyone out there tell me how to get this done?

I just found from release notes that End user administration feature (which was under Distributed Administration ) is no longer supported in Sun One Web Server 6.1. [Problem ID 4865295 in release notes]
Could anyone provide a workaround to get over this and allow the end users to change their passwords?

Oracle BI Web Services to extract Presentation Variables

Hi Folks,
I have a complex requirement and was unable to find the right solution on web.
My general question is,
What is the C# code which uses Oracle BI Web Services to extract Presentation Variables information and write it to XML files?
We are unable to extract for Presentation Variables with Variable Value but able to extract for Column Value.
So please share your thoughts as how to extract the presentation variables.

Issue with Variable editor in BI 4.1 Webi

Hello Team,
Here i am with another possible bug maybe in BI 4.1 ,SP2.
In order to avoid the 1.#INF error which is a bug in BI 4,1 SP2, i found the solution of applying the formula If IsError(Measure) then "" else [Measure] and this seemed to work.
I now have some measures with complex names and when i try to write a similar formula as above in BI 4.1 based on those measures with complex names, i get the below error but the same works fine in BI 4.0 SP2 and SP5 versions. Below is an example:
Formula i'm trying to write:
=If IsError([SDV Cases].[Actual, 3 TY Mar Current Year]) Then "" Else [SDV Cases].[Actual, 3 TY Mar Current Year]
I'm using a lot of queries in this report and hence the extension "SDV Cases".**

The same error is seen when i try to just create a variable on top of the existing measures in BI 4.1,SP2 with such complex names and just click on validate without even applying any If then else formulas.It works fine for dimensions though with simpler names. See the screenshot below:
So is this a possible bug in BI 4.1,Sp2 and is there a resolution to this or is it expected to be resolved in BI 4.1,SP3 like the other bugs?

Significance of context param in web.xml to initialize any variable?servlet

I am writing a standalone web appplication for rss (xml) creation where i am having jsp servlets class etc.
Now to write rss.xml and read it back in application i have temporarily used c:\\rss.xml but to make it capable working in web application which can be uploaded in website i need to make it configurable i need to kep it in context param of web.xml and in init() method of servlet of my application what exactly i should do there.what i have tried is this :

There can be init params for the servlet or for the servlet context. For the servlet, this looks like:

WebI Prompts using BEx Query Variables

Hello,
I have the following issues with WebI report selection input paramaters (prompts) that use BW BEx Query variables. Could anyone please assist?
Issue 1:
The WebI report has one mandatory and two optional input paramaters (all paramaters from BW BEx Query). When I execute the report via WebI rich client directly, enter the value for mandatory input parameter and leave blanks for both optional input parameters, the report ran OK and has no issue. However, when I ran it through CMC a strange thing happen: I could not select the value for mandatory input paramater as it requires to have values for both optional input paramaters first (which I wish to have them blank and optional). When I refersh values for the mandatory paramater, it says "List of Values for current prompt requires values for following prompts:...(ie. the two optional parameters).
Anyone has any idea - it seems like it is a CMC issue for the WebI...
Issue 2:
Take the same WebI report above, the issue here is the order sequence of the prompts (ie. the selection input parameters). How can we change/control the sequence of the prompts? Whatever sequence of the varaiables (input paramters) in BW BEx Query, the WebI ignores it. Please advise.

I did not see separate thread for issue #1, therefore I'll us this thread.
I am running into similar issue when I get an error message ''List of Values for current prompt requires values for following prompts: <Name of the prompt>".
We are using BO V4, SP2, Patch 10 with SAP BW as DB via BEx queries.
I opened support ticket for this issue since obviousely it's still an issue after applying patch 10.
It's not an issue when 'Rich Internet Application' option is selected to view report in 'Reading' mode (via Launchpad Preferences then Web Inteligence; defautl value for viewing is 'Web').
I have not tried to use Client tools but even if it works with Client tools - it is not a solution for us. Our company does not plan to install client tools on end user computers.
Bigger issue us is that report scheduling invokes Web version (not Rich Internet Application). Therefore we cannot schedule report that is giving us problem described. I tried scheduling report from Launchpad and from CMC and both game me error highlighted.

Sorry first part of this thread was removed.
The problem description is as follow:
On BOE XI 3.1 SP2, when re-scheduling a BO report which sends an Excel attachment to an email destination, users receive the error "An error has occurred: $Proxy4".
It seems to be hit and miss but is more consistent when sending to multiple (comma-separated) recipients in the 'TO' field. I also noticed that if you select CACHING then a "$Proxy5" type error is returned.
I understand that this bug was supposed to be fixed in XI3.1 SP2 but I'm already running SP2.
Anyone seen this?

BO Webi: How to populate a variable with the set of static values for Graph

Hi All,
I have the data: Order number, Order Date, processing time coming from the SAP Bex query in the below format:
Order No    Order Date    Processing time (Days)
1                 Jan-2011      4
2                 Jan-2011      5
3                 Feb-2011      6
In BO webi report, I have to report the number of orders which were processed in <1day, <2days, <3days,...<10days in a graphical view. i.e., X-Axis: <1day, <2days, <3days,...<10days(10 static buckets for the processing days)
Y-Axis: Number of Orders.
The graphical output should be like below:
X-Axis: <1day, <2days, <3days,<4days,<5days,<6days,<7days,<8days,<9days,<10days
Y-Axis: 0, 0,0,0,1,2,3,3,3,3 (count(Order No)) (Cumulative count)
I am able to calculate the number of orders individually for each of the 10 buckets. But the problem i am facing is that I am not able to hold the 10 static bucket values in a variable to use it for the x-axis in the Graph, as these 10 static bucket values are not coming from the backend source.
I would like to know if there is way to populate a variable(to use it for the X-Axis in the graph) with the set of 10 static values.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I think we can use the variable as X-axis in chart.. but Variable Qulaification should be Dimension.
can you try this?.
Using efasion universe
1) Select month and Sold at (unit price) , then run the query
2) create the variable V_Month ==If [Month]=1 Then "Month1" Else "Month2" (Note = Variable Qulaification should be Dimension)
3) Create the variable V_Sum= sum (Sold at (unit price))
4) create another variable V_Cumulative_Sum==[V_Sum]+Previous([V_Sum])
Now add V_Month and V_Cumulative_Sum in table , then convert to chart.. now you can add the variable V_Month as X-axis of the chart.

Web.show_document on XP SP2 does not open a .csv file

Forms 10g (9.0.4)
form90.conf:

.csv file creation statement:

so far so good. the file is created and written to.
text_io.fclose(lv_file_id);
now, the open of the file created:
lv_temp_dir := 'query_exports/' -- note same value as above
web.show_documents(lv_temp_dir||lv_file_name);
at this point a new browser window is opened with HTTP 404 Not Found error. The URL is:
http:/local_machine:8888/forms90/query_exports/"lv_file_name"
if I go the following:
lv_temp_dir := 'file:///c:/mydir/query_exports/'
web.show_documents(lv_temp_dir||lv_file_name);
The new browser does not open and I do not get an error. The file is still written to.
If i use:
lv_temp_dir := 'query_exports/' -- note same value as above
web.show_documents(lv_temp_dir||lv_file_name);
and the new browser open with the HTTP 404 Not found message and I manually type in:
file:///c:/mydir/query_exports/"lv_file_name",
The .csv file opens correctly.
Why is this behavior happening?

Add the machine name/networkdomain name as a trusted site under
Internet Explorer ->Securitysettings
