Weblogic 5.1 - Unrelated exceptions in application

I have been trying to figure this problem for about an hour now. Apparently
it is only happening on heavy load, cannot reproduce it in our QA
environment
For last 2 weeks webloigc 5.1 sp9 on Sun Jdk 1.3, Solaris 5.8 (our live
platform) starts acting strange after being run for a couple of hours.
Interestingly no one has made changes to it, and the problem does not look
related to a software patch in anycase, might even be a JVM bug.
Basically weblogic starts throwing Exceptions all over the code, mostly they
are null pointer exceptions except where we check for a null and throw an
alternate exception. Its almost as if the reference table in the JVM decides
that everything is null.
Following is a bit of the log just before it crash, if anyone has hints as
to what might be going on or has had similar problems please let me know.
Thanks

It turns out that there was an OutOfMemoryException when this all starts. I
had missed this as it was a single line Exception with no stack trace in a
15MB log file :(
We had our site load increase 5 folds in a week. All the problem starts with
the OutOfMemoryException. Increasing the VM heap size to 1GB have fixed the
issue.
To me it looks as if the GC is removing valid references if there is a
OutOfMemoryException, or maybe even something in WL51 that tries to recover
from an out of memory state and decides to release referenced objects in its
cache.
Thanks Rob

Looks like a NullPointerException in your jsp page. It's very hard for
us to tell you anything more without more information.

Building the ear file is not the problem.
    The deployment fails.
Seems that somehow I dont have those jars on the server.....

Edit: I've done a search on the server and all the relevant jars are there, none is missing.
    Whats next?

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6. I have created a new Web
Application called Web (I have not used the DefaultWebApp_myserver).
And I have the following settings:
    Name : Web
    URI : Web
    and Path : C:\Web
and placed my JSP files under c:\Web\
I am able to access the first page, but after that I am not able to access the
    second page.
I get "Error 404--Not Found" on the browser. Basically the class file is not getting
    created under /Web-inf/_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_Web/jsp_servlet/ folder .
I tried a work around for this. I copied all my files under one more folder called
web and placed this under C:\Web
The it works. Now I have 2 copied off all the files, 1 copy under c:\web and another
    copy under c:\web\web\.
If I have the files under DefaultWebApp_myserver and have the setting as
    Name: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    URI: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    Path: .\config\mydomain\applications
    everything works fine.
Can any one please let me know if there is any configuration which has to be done
so that I do not duplicate the code in 2 directories
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Moin

  • Weblogic 7 SP5 SQL Exceptions follow a JTA transaction timeout

I have a problem in Weblogic 7 SP5 that was not happening in SP2. I'm using the
    Weblogic jDriver (weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver)
I have a transaction that times out due to JTA transaction timeout, and then gets
marked for rollback. For several minutes after the timeout, I get many SQL Exceptions
with bogus messages like "invalid column name" when the column name is, in fact,
    correct.
Then the weblogic log file shows "Exception during rollback of transaction" (javax.transaction.SystemException:
Heuristic hazard). Next, the connection is tested on reserve, this test fails,
and the connection is refreshed. As soon as the connection is refreshed, I stop
getting SQL exceptions and everything starts working correctly again.
It seems like the transaction timeout is making the connection go bad, and somehow
other requests are using this bad connection before the transaction finishes rolling
back. What could the problem be? Some excerpts from my app log and weblogic log
    are below.

supported JDBC driver would presumably fix the problem, but we didn't have time
to do a full regression test with a different driver.Hi, no. The jDriver is deprecated, not unsupported. For WLS releases that contain
the jDriver it will be supported for as long as we support the WLS release!
Deprecation just means that we may choose to not supply that driver in any future
release, and will not support it in that or any subsequent release.
Practically, much depends on which jDriver you're using. In decreasing order
of practical support we have: The weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver to Oracle: We do actively
continue to fix bugs in it. The weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver: Very unlikely that
we will fix any new problem with it. The weblogic.jdbc.ifmx.Driver: Even less
likely that we will do anything with it...
I hope that makes it better for you.

  • How to catch the user defined  exception in application service

    Hi All,
How to catch the user defined  exception in application service  when it is throwed by the external service..
    Regards,
    Thirumurugan.

    Hi,
        Thanks for your reply,
Actually I  am calling validate Login method of External service from the application service. When the login fails, my external service will throw user defined Exception.I want to catch the user defined Exception.
But in the application service , validate Login method can catch  only Invocation Exception and Engine Exception.
These two exception are present in the Application service remote interface.
      public com.sap.comptest.extsrv.accrjavawsvi__document.output.
    Ns1_validateLoginResponse validateLogin(com.sap.comptest.extsrv.accrjavawsvi__document.input.Ns1_validateLogin input) throws com.sap.caf.mp.base.exception.InvocationException, com.sap.caf.mp.base.exception.EngineException;
User defined exception is not present there. When i include the webservice as external service in CAF, it suppossed to generate the java file for the custom exception of validate Login method and this generated file should be included in the application service remote interface..
    public com.sap.comptest.extsrv.accrjavawsvi__document.output.
    Ns1_validateLoginResponse validateLogin(com.sap.comptest.extsrv.accrjavawsvi__document.input.Ns1_validateLogin input) throws com.sap.caf.mp.base.exception.InvocationException, com.sap.caf.mp.base.exception.EngineException,
(generated file name of user defined Excpetion.
Then only  validate login method  of application service can catch  the user defined Exception which is thrown by the  external service.
    regards,

I took the sample integration domain. It is an integration domain. Just to be sure, I tried to extend WLI on top of the existing sample domain, and got a few "the feature already exist" warning dialog.
    Wait...
I just tried to build again, this time it worked. I think you are right, the sample domain has some problem, and extending it helped.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Weblogic.rjvm.PeerGoneException: ; nested exception is: java.io.EOFException

    Hi,
We are working with Weblogic 6.1.
The system was quite stable, but a couple of days ago some batch process suddenly
started to fail, with no apparent reason, there was no change in the system neither
    in the code.
    The following exception is received:
Stopped, RemoteException weblogic.rjvm.PeerGoneException: ; nested exception is:
         java.io.EOFException
We have also noticed that other jobs had failed before due to some memory problems,
but using the Weblogic Console; Monitoring; Performance, then when some jobs had
some memory problems forcing the garbage collection the batches worked properly.
Maybe these 2 problems have no relation between one an other, but they appeared
    at the same time.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards.

  • Urgent: How can I catch the exception when application exit by accident

Can anyone give me advice and idea?
I want to catch the exception when application goes down by accident for example: Power off, turn off the machine without closing the appliction properly.
Because I want to notify the server and remove it from register.
    How can I do this????
    Please help,
    Thanks very mich,
    Peter

    Shrubz,
I tested my application as follows:
    1. start rmiregistry
    2. start rmi server
    3. start two clients
I printed out the client's object information as below:
    first clinet:
    RemoteObserver is com.ss8.qos.qcsm.policy.policyui.PanelMain_Stub[RemoteStub [ref: [endpoint:[192.168.70.237:4706](remote),objID:[-73a6662b:e75af455a5:-8000, 0]]]]
    second client:
    RemoteObserver is com.ss8.qos.qcsm.policy.policyui.PanelMain_Stub[RemoteStub [ref: [endpoint:[192.168.70.237:4711](remote),objID:[-73a6665a:e75af48703:-8000, 0]]]]
Now I stop the second client by clicking ^C (ctrl c)
I noticed that this client has not been removed from the server register (Vector).
next, I am working on first client for example add one record. After server received this record, it will update all clients who have already registered with server. Because now in the server register there are two clinets (first and second), so it will try to update two clients. The exception will be thrown when server tries to update second client which has already been stoped. I used printStackTrace() to print out the message as follow:
    Catch ConnectException
Connection refused to host: 192.168.70.237; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information

    Hi
This is due to invalid class compatibility. May be you are using the two different versions of classes. one at server side and another at your client side. please make sure both are having the SerialVersion Id's.

  • How to let Weblogic to load log4j.jar from application?

    Hi all,
Our company planed to move an application from WebSphere to WebLogic server (10.0.2). I am responsible for the technique aspect on this moving. But this is my first time to work on WebLogic, so it seems everything is new for me. Currently, I am encountering a very tough issue. In our project, it has an old log4j.jar (2001). I put the jar in APP-INF/lib. However, after I deployed the project to server, system always run the new log4.jar from server, and gave exception, as follows. The old log4j.jar has this method, but new log4j.jar doesn't.
Anybody can give me help? I really appreciate. Thanks.

  • Troubleshooting Io exception for application where other applications work

I'm using jdev9052 to create a struts/jsp application. I've successfully deployed it to a test machine similarly configured to my production environment. I already have another application working in the production environent that uses the following connection in data-sources.xml:
    <data-source class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource" name="Orac
    leDS" location="weblogic.jdbc.DataSource.PlateauCoreDS" xa-location="weblogic.jd
    bc.DataSource.xa.PlateauDS" ejb-location="weblogic.jdbc.DataSource.PlateauDS" co
    nnection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" username="user" password="pwd" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:PTdev" inactivity-timeout="30"/>
My application connection looks like this on the production machine:
    <data-source name="jdev-connection-PlatPTVPC" class="com.evermind.sql.DriverMa
    nagerDataSource" location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCCoreDS" xa-location="jdbc/xa/PlatPTVPCX
    ADS" ejb-location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCDS" pooled-location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCPooledDS" co
    nnection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" username="user" password=
    "pwd" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:PTDev" inactivity-timeout="30"
    />
The connection works on the test machine with this:
    <data-source name="jdev-connection-PlatPTVPC" class="com.evermind.sql.DriverMa
    nagerDataSource" location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCCoreDS" xa-location="jdbc/xa/PlatPTVPCX
    ADS" ejb-location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCDS" pooled-location="jdbc/PlatPTVPCPooledDS" co
    nnection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" username="userVPC" password=
    "pwdVPC" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@w2kserver:1521:PTVPC" inactivity-timeout="30"
    />
The production machine is running Solaris 10, OAS 9.0.2.7 and the development machine is running Win2000, OAS 9.0.2.7.
The listener is running and the database is working because I can connect using the other application. Yet, when I run my application, I get the dreaded "java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
I used jdev to create an .EAR file, deployed it using the enterprise manager on both machines.
    Any suggestions?

Get Turbo Lister (a free page editing and listing tool from eBay).
    http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
eBay uses some seriously flawed markup on their auction pages.  In fact, they don't even ALLOW you to use good code. You're better off using their proprietary tools for this.   IMO, DW is not the right tool for creating eBay pages.

You'll get a CacheFullException if you exceed the max-beans-in-cache
4.5.1 is pretty old right now, and I don't believe it's even supported anymore. I'd
    suggest upgrading if possible.
