WebLogic as Web Server Installation using WebLogic Express

Hi all,
I am in a process of installing WebLogic Web server. I downloaded WebLogic Express from bea site, and it turns out to be the same bin file that I had used for WebLogic Server installation. During the installation, I did not come across an specific steps meant for WebLogic Express (which is a web server + servlet/jsp container)
Can some one please guide me at the earlier as regards installation steps for WebLogic Web Server,
Regards,

Jim,
I am trying to set up WLS 9.1 and got this error.
Could you help me with this? Why I am getting it?
Thanks!
Marvin

  • WebLogic's  web server

Which web server is used with WebLogic application server ? I mean with the default installation ? For Oracle Application Server, Oracle HTTP server was the default ?

WebLogic Server serves HTTP traffic through it's own Servlet engine and does not require a separate web server. If you want to front-end WebLogic Server with another HTTP server or a hardware load balancer, then you are welcome to use the HTTP server plugins. Both Apache and IIS plugins are available with WLS 10.3

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .

  • You cannot sign in to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server interface using preconfigured system profiles

    Hi
    I recently upgrade tp 7.0.3  from 7.0.2.
While upgrade i found that i am not able to login to the web server with the admin id "admin" default created in the application server.
The same id i can login to application server  , but not in wewb server.
I am getting the mentioned error "You cannot sign in to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server interface using preconfigured system profiles".
However if i create a new user in application server and tried logging with the  same in the web server it is working fine..
is it a known behaviour wirh the upgrade or i m facing some issue.
Hope i can find a solution here.
    Regards
    RC

    RC,
This behavior is stemming from a change in MP 7.0 MR2 to disable the MPWeb login for system profiles.  This was an internal change made by the developers to restrict the log on to the MPWeb page by the default accounts created in MeetingPlace upon installation.  The change now displays this error when the admin account is attempted to be used for MPWeb login, as you experienced-
Error:[22953] You cannot sign in to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server interface using preconfigured system profiles.
You should be able to log into MPWeb using any other user profile that you have either created manually or pulled in from LDAP/Active Directory.  You just cannot use the admin account.  This is reserved for login to the MP Application Server Administration page only.  I am going to work to get this information added to the MP 7.0 documentation with a note for changed behavior in MR2 and above.  Here is the note from MP 8.0 documentation-
Note: You cannot use this preconfigured admin profile to access the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server interface. Instead enter the User ID and password information from one of the other user profiles that have system administrator privileges to sign in to the Web Server.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
    Thank You,
    Gerry

  • Automating Oracle Server Installation using response file

I am automating Oracle Server Installation using response file. No Installer page should be displayed, except 'Optional Config Tools' page at the end of the installation showing the list of optional configuration tools e.g Net Configuration Assistant, Database Configuration Assistant, and Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant. All other pages would not be displayed.
My response file doesn't seem to work this way. During installation, it displays the 'Create Database' page asking whether you want Database Configuration Assistant to be automatically launched at the end of the installation for database creation. How do I prevent this page from displaying, while selecting default option (Yes) using response file?

Provide info about the OS you are using and Oracle version.

  • Which web server is used for openHAB2?

I've recently set up IDE for openHAB2 and built it successfully.
openHAB dashboard & paper UI are web application.
But I can't find any web server settings in openHAB project.
Which web server is used for them?
Is it possible to add java servlet for my custom REST service?

This is probably rather a question for the openHAB 2 mailing list. But to answer: Jetty is used in openHAB 2 as you can see here https://github.com/openhab/openhab2/blob/master/products/org.openhab.product.runtime/org.openhab.runtime.product.product#L57.
And yes, you can certainly add custom REST endpoints. You should do this as it is done with the default REST endpoints like https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/blob/master/bundles/io/org.eclipse.smarthome.io.rest.core/src/main/java/org/eclipse/smarthome/io/rest/core/binding/BindingResource.java.

  • Should I install Apache Web server to use Jakarta Tomcat Servlet engine?

    Hello,
I have some problems and now have a question:
Should I install Apache Web server to use Jakarta Tomcat Servlet engine?
JTK home page is available via http://localhost:8080
    Tomcat ver 3.1.3
    Thanks.

No, you don't need to run Apache webserver (httpd) to run Tomcat. Tomcat by default runs on port 8080, but you can set it to any port, including 80, if you have permission to do so (on *nix systems, you need root permissions to run services on any port below 1024).
Tomcat is a webserver as well, just one that includes a servlet container and JSP processor. So it will serve your html files, images, etc (aka static content), just as well as Apache httpd, in addition to being able to run servlets and JSPs.
Apache httpd has more options for serving static content than Tomcat, so many people prefer to use it as their main webserver and only use Tomcat as a sort of "plugin" to handle servlets and JSPs. This can be achieved through a connector. Instructions on how to set this up are on the Jakarta website.
So you could use Apache and Tomcat combined, next to each other, or totally separated. In many cases, just Tomcat will do.

  • Disabling Weblogic's http server port - Using an external web server

    Hi,
We are using Weblogic 8.1 as application server and IWS as web server. We have
siteminder web agent configured on the web server for implementing authentication
    and authorization.
All our requests first go to the web server which redirects them to the application
    server.
Since Weblogic itself has a http listen port, user can still send requests directly
to the application server(which does not have any siteminder configuration on
it). Is it possible to ensure that all http requests made directly to the application
server are not processed so that the user is forced to hit the web server first.
    Thanks,
    Akash

When you say redirect, do you mean you use an HTTP redirect to send it to your
WLS servers URL? Or do you mean you proxy the requests from the webserver to
the WLS instance? In the former case, you must expose WLS's HTTP server to the
clients in order to redirect them to the address and you will not be able to
stop them from going directly there. In the case of the latter, you can put
your WLS instance behind the firewall so external users can't get to it. If you
also need to protect it from internal users you should probably not use
siteminder as your authentication mechanism. You may be able to configure
siteminder so that it has to authenticate itself to send requests to weblogic
and then protect all weblogic resources with that role requirement.

Check "documentRoot" variable in your property file. It should point to:
C:\weblogic\myserver\public_html & you should have all your html files
under that directory. This holds true if you're using the default
              configuration.

  • Weblogic as web server

Is there any hints to get Weblogic up & running on port 80 as a web server?
We have IIS working fine, but this is a development box that just needs to

pointing my client to http://www.abc.com:7001/index.jsp , I'd like to point

change the following property in your weblogic.properties file.
    weblogic.system.listenPort=80

    Hi,
While not an exact solution to your problem, I seem to recall a similar issue, not with this web server though, but similar still. As far as I recall, the problem was related to the loading order of the library files and overlapping class files within those libraries. I think it was an issue with j2ee.jar/javaee.jar and jbossall-client.jar.
For the standalone test, you have probably checked the following, but check again :)
    - Exact same JDK
    - Libraries in the web server lib directory
    - Libraries in application/WEB-INF/lib
    - Loading order
You might also want to check how war file class loading is done in the web server sp6.
