WebLogic clustering Environment ...

          Hi,
I have an clustering environment setup ( and see several issues) and was wondering
if anyone else is having the same kind or are seeing similar issues.
          1) Have a weblogic proxy on win2000 box
          2) have two weblogic instances on another win2000 box.
          3) have two weblogic instances on third win2000 box.
          4) have db and 2 app servers on HPUX box.
          Questions:
          1) Does anyone have this kind of environment running successfully?
          2) Our stuff runs but we see several problems :
--- sometimes we see blank page which comes back with actual page upon hitting
          refresh
--- Several images don't show up. It tries to look for images on proxy server
cache, but does not find it over there. It is in fact in the cache directory on
          one of the weblogic instances.
--- I log in as one user and then log in as another user, it still brings
up the page for the previous user.
Can anyone throw some light on this issues or config.
Any help / effort is greatly appreciated
          Thanks
          Bharat

If you have a significant site (heavy enough traffic or HLA requirement to
use >1 proxy) then I suggest putting the static stuff on the proxy or even
outside of the WL loop altogether. Generally speaking, it is fine to put it
on the proxy, though, like on Apache.
Here's the problem, though -- most apps hard-code the relative locations of
the images. I suggest using a JSP tag for "image path" that uses property
(config) information to deref the location of the files. That way you can
dev on a single workstation and deploy to a single server or cluster or
cluster with a set of proxies out front.

  • Singleton behaviour in clustered environment

    Hi,
I have a very basic question. In a WebLogic clustered
environment, is a Singleton replicated? In other words, if the
mySingleton on node A in a cluster is updated with a piece of data,
will this show in the mySingleton in node B?
              Thanks

No. If you need this type of functionality, use Coherence.

  • Resource Adapters in clustered environment

    Hi All,
Can anybody throw some light on how resource adapters will behave in
              weblogic clustered environment ?
              thanks and regards
              vedant.

This question falls outside of JMS-land. Perhaps you can try the EJB newsgroup?
Just in case your trying to use an adapter to receive JMS messages: There's no need to use resource adapters for WebLogic MDBs driven by JMS destinations.

  • WebLogic 10.3.4 Adminserver Performance Issues - Clustered Environment.

I am running WL 10.3.4 64 bit version on 64 bit hardware (blade serves) running Solaris 10 and I have the servers setup in a cluster. There are 3 machines are part of the cluster.
Managed Server1 is on Blade Server 1
Managed Server2 is on Blade Server 2
Managed Server3 is on Blade Server 3
We have about 20 different clusters setup and 60 servers across those 20 clusters.
The adminserver runs on a separate box (not a blade server). Tasks that do NOT involve the servers or deployments tabs are relatively fast however, when I go to the servers or deployments tab, and to some extent the clusters tab, the response is very slow.
For example, I am running WL 10.3.0 on less robust hardware. I installed the patch that Oracle published to resolve this particular issue. We have a similar number of clusters and servers on in that environment (3 severs to a cluster). The servers tab responds in 10 seconds.
In WL 10.3.4, the servers and deployments tabs take about 45 - 60 seconds to respond. This adds a LOT of overhead to doing any server or deployment related tasks.
I realize that the admin server has to query all the managed servers but performance in 10.3.4 is much worse than WL 10.3.0 with the performance patch.
Has anyone else run into similar performance issues with the WL 10.3.4 ADMIN Console running in a clustered environment? If so, does anyone have any suggestions to help improve performance.
I also run a WL 10.3.4 instance in a single server environment and the servers and deployments tabs respond withing 10 seconds (very fast). It is just in a clustered environment.

I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Sri.

  • File resources in clustered environment

I understand that resource on file system cannot be clustered.
We have an application packaged as an ear file but unfortunately we get the properties
files from the file system. We usually copy these resources while installing our
              application.
Now we are trying to deploy our application in a clustered environment and when
all my servers in the clcuster r on the same machine everything worked fine. Now
I created another server on a different machine.
The ear file file got transfered fine but the application is not able to find
the properties since the resource file are not copied over to that machine. I
know this is an expected behaviour but my question is: Is there anyway workaround
to avoid thsi problem. For example, can we tell weblogic to take care of copying
these resources along with the whole application
              (ear file).
              Praveen

I don't think that there is any standard way of doing this.
Even if you do convince WebLogic to do so, it will be a
              WebLogic-specific hack...
Don't suppose you can use a shared directory?
Or perhaps you can just use external-staging, and copy the EAR +
              resources yourself.

  • Not able to access the application through URL in clustered environment.

    Hi,
I recently depoyed my application on clustered environment of weblogic 8.1 SP4.
Now I am able to access the application through the managed server name with port number but not able to access through URL.
    For ex
    http://machine1:7001/test/login.do?m=begin
    this is accessible
    If I use
    http://test.domain.com/test/login.do?m=begin
    Then application is not accessible.
any HTML or JSP page page is in reach by both the URL.
Please suggest me what should I do in this regard.
    thanks

    Hi Syed,
I meant to ask are you able to see the application you created in Hyperion Planning Login page,if yes try accessing the created application through Hyperion Planning(Try restarting Planning Services once even if you are able to launch hyperion planning page) url "http://servername:8300/HyperionPlanning and selecting the application you created.
And also could you please let me know if you are logging in to workspace through admin username ? and also check if you are able to see the application in shared services and try to provision any group on that application.
(The Assumptions are if application is not created successfully then it will not be available in workspace to launch and if its in maintainance mode (Application Maintenance Mode) in Application Settings and last would be check OHS and Hyperion Planning Services)
    Thanks

  • How to keep track of EJBs in case of failover under clustered environment?

Does anybody know what happens with a stateless session EJB in
weblogic 5.1 under clustered environment, in case of a failover (if
one of computers dies), the one, which keeps that ejb in a pool?
Does that EJB automatically go to the state "does not exist"?
Is method ejbRemove() then called on that EJB?
Or is it still in the "method-ready pool" state? Without ejbCreate()
method being called on this EJB?
Or does it disappear completely without those methods being called on
    this EJB?
I need to organize some kind of tracking for those EJBs, and it is
critically important for me to understand what exactly methods are
    called on those EJBs.
I saw this, but it does not answer my question:
    Clustered EJB
All EJBs are clusterable. If an EJB is deployed on multiple servers in
the cluster, each of these servers will be able to host instances of
the bean. This does not necessarily mean, however, that the bean
    instances are clustered.
    EJB Homes
All bean homes are clusterable. When a bean is deployed on a server,
its home is bound into the cluster-wide naming service. Because homes
are clusterable, each server can bind an instance of the home under
the same name. When a client looks up this home, it gets a
replica-aware stub that has a reference to the home on each server
that deployed the bean. When create() or find() is called, the
replica-aware stub routes the call to one of the replicas. The home
replica that receives the finds or creates an instance of the bean on
    its server.
    Stateless EJBs
When a home creates a stateless bean, it returns a replica-aware stub
that can route to any server on which the bean is deployed. Because a
stateless bean holds no state on behalf of the client, the stub is
free to route any call to any server that hosts the bean. Also,
because the bean is clustered, the stub can automatically fail over in
the event of a failure. The stub does not automatically treat the bean
as idempotent, so it will not recover automatically from all failures.
If the bean has been written with idempotent methods, this can be
noted in the deployment descriptor and automatic fail-over will be
    enabled in all cases.
    Thanks

    Check out Java's support for udo/redo: [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/undo/package-summary.html]
    Also, google the "Memento Pattern".
You don't have to make copies of objects, just maintain commands the can undo and redo your program's state.

  • SAP Adapter Best Practice Question for Deployment to Clustered Environment

I have a best practices question on the iway Adapters around deployment into a clustered environment.
According to the documentation, you are supposed to run the installer on both nodes in the cluster but configure on just the first node. See below:
Install Oracle Application Adapters 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.3.0) on both machines.
Configure a J2CA configuration as a database repository on the first machine.
Perform the required changes to the ra.xml and weblogic-ra.xml files before deployment.
This makes sense to me because once you deploy the adapter rar in the next step it the appropriate rar will get staged and deployed on both nodes in the cluster.
What is the best practice for the 3rdParty adapter directory on the second node? The installer lays it down with the adapter rar and all. Since we only configure the adapter on node 1, the directory on node 2 will remain with the default installation files/values not the configured ones. Is it best practice to copy node 1's 3rdParty directory to node 2 once configured? If we leave node 2 with the default files/values, I suspect this will lead to confusion to someone later on who is troubleshooting because it will appear it was never configured correctly.
What do folks typically do in this situation? Obviously everything works to leave it as is, but it seems strange to have the two nodes differ.

What is the version of operating system. If you are any OS version lower than Windows 2012 then you need to add one more voter for quorum.

  • Stateless session bean in clustered environment

Is there any option in ejbc (Stateless Session Bean) for clustered environment?
Do I have to take care for clustered environment?

Use the following line in your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
              <stateless-bean-is-clusterable> true </stateless-bean-is-clusterable>
This will make the container aware that your stateless bean is to be clustered.
The ejbc can be run as usual.

  • WebLogic clustering within the box

              Folks,
Is it possible to do weblogic clustering within a single UNIX box?
              For example,
UNIX Machine A(10.9.44.25) have two domains mydomain1 and mydomain2.
              mydomain1 - AdminServer7001 - ManagedServer8001
              mydomain2 - ManagedServer9001
Is it possible to clustering for ManagedServer8001 and ManagedServer9001?
              Thanks

You can create a clustered environment on a single machine; limits to the numbers
of managed servers within the cluster is a variable based on available machine
resources (memory, file handles, kernel limits, etc.).
You cannot create a cluster though as you suggest above. Recall that clusters
are defined within a single domain, and you cannot create a cluster that spans
              (is split) between domains.
To create a cluster on a single machine, you just need to keep the rule that each
managed server has a unique ipaddress:port combination for its listening address.
On a single machine you have the option of multi-homing the machine (eg multiple
              IP addresses on a single NIC) or use a single address, but use different ports;
or use a combination of both.

  • How to install weblogic clusters on NT Services

    Hi ,
We have servers running in clustered environment, and would like to install
the clustered servers into the Windows NT Services and run from there. We
tried to execute the install.exe under weblogic/bin directory, but looks
like it does not work properly for the clustered environment.(I am not sure
it read the weblogic.properties file under the weblogic/mycluster
directory). Can someone please show us how to do this in more details?
              Thanks in advance.

Depends on the size of your network.
But your multicast addr should be class D range and should be within
              224.0.0.1 to 239.255.255.255, inclusive.

what version of WLS? service pack level? How are you starting the server and
              joining the cluster.
Do you see each server creating connections to other servers after
              successfully in the cluster..
              Pls provide more details.
have you gone through this document.

  • InvalidClientId on Clustered Environment

I am running into a problem where a get "weblogic.jms.common.InvalidClientIDException:
Client id, testDesintation, is in use" when running in a clustered environment.
In the code, I dynamically set the clientId on the TopicConnection using setClientID().
The class that does this is called from a Stateless Session EJB (clustered) which
is called from a MDB (clustered).
I believe this is from node1 setting the clientId to 'x', and before node1 has
closed the connection, node2 opens a connection, setting the clientId to 'x'.
This is how I actually need it to perform. Each node may need to publish messages
to the same destination around the same time. This is because the clustered MDB
is what prompts the publish to the next destination.
What is the suggested approach for a problem such as this? Is the only solution
not to cluster the MDB, so that only one node may be publishing to the Topic at
              one time?
              Any suggestions?
              jz

    Hi Josh,
I think that setting the client-id on a connection to force exclusivity is only needed
when the connection is used to create a durable subscription. Even
in this case some implementations of JMS may not require it, (don't
              recall for WebLogic.)
So in your case, it is not necessary to set the clientId on a connection.

  • Data Caching in a Clustered Environment

I want to cache read-only reference/code table data that will run in a clustered
WLS6 environment. It's a JSP application and I am storing a complete HTML Select
Control per reference/code table data in the cache. The question is where to
cache it? I was going to put it in the ServletContext (JSP "application" implicit
object), but the ServletContext is not replicated. I considered using JNDI, but
there are problems with duplicate name errors when another server who doesn't
originally bind the object tries to lookup, change and rebind the object. I guess
JMS Multicasting is an option, but I don't want to implement JMS just for an application
              data cache.
Any suggestions for a simple reference/code table read-only caching strategy that
will work in a clustered WLS6 environment?

If the data is strictly read-only, and you do not have to worry about cache
integrity, then look at WebLogic JSP cachetag:
              http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_jsp.html#cachetag
You can use it to cache both the output and the calculations results
(variables calculated inside the cache tag).
The scenario will be exactly the same for non-clustered and clustered
cases - using multicast to broadcast small invalidation messages (so the
data can be refreshed from the database) is ok, but replicating application
data is not (and you definitely do not want to use JNDI for this purpose).
BTW, the initial CacheTag implementation in 5.1 (supposedly) had a 'cluster'
scope and I assume it was multicasting fresh data after cache miss - there
is no such scope in 6.0 implementation.
If you still want replication you can look at javagroups:
              http://sourceforge.net/projects/javagroups/
              (distributedhashtable example).
