Weblogic-I-Planet Bridge problems with JSP

Hello,
Web Logic 5.1. allows only 3 different IP adresses = users.
Now we use the NSAPI to Netscape I-Planet 4.0.
The JSP Files should be redirected to the Weblogic server.
When we start a simple Hello World JSP we get the correct result.
Unfortunetly we get also an error message some seconds later.
It seems as if the JSP is still alive after the "first round" and the
error message says that the JSP could not be loaded or found.
Any ideas about that? When I use the JSPs via Weblogic itself everything
works fine.

Cookie Problem With JSP and Tomcat

I have a tiny web application developed for my project thing.
I am facing a problem while maintaining sessions with Cookie. I use Tomcat 3.2.1 Web Server and JSP 1.2 Specifications for my web application.
I have created a page which creates a cookie and stores it in the client's PC, so when the same client visits the site, he can be remembered. Now while surfing the site in the same session, the site remembers the client. But once the client closes the browser and tries connecting to the site, he cannot be remembered. So I took a look into Temporary Internet Files of the client PC and found no cookie there. So where the cookie gets created and why does it disappears with the session. I have set a time limit of 1 year in the cookie.
Now is that a Problem with Tomcat or with the configuration settings of IE in the client PC?? Or something else???

Weblogic 5.1 SP9 problems with MAC OS 9 w/ MRJ 2.2.5 [InterruptedIOException]

Hello all,
We're having a problem with one of the beans running on our WebLogic server.
A quick summary:
The application is a standalone java application that
interfaces with a Weblogic 5.1 SP9 running on a Solaris box.
The clients are a mix of Windows machines and Mac OS 9 (with OS X
coming down the line, but that is not feasible at this time
to consider a massive upgrade). Due to the limitations
of the JVM for OS 9, we are forced to run MRJ 2.2.5 on the
Mac and JRE 1.1.9 on the Windows machines.
The general flow of data is a request is made from the client app
to the WebLogic bean. The bean calls another class method which
retrieves data from the the backend database (Sybase or SQL Server 2000).
We've verified that the data comes back from the query, is placed
in an array, and is in the same state when the EJB prepares to 'return'
the data to the client. This works as expected on the Windows machines,
however, every so often, the Macs will give an
InterruptedIOException: send timed out error. Once the server times
out (after 240 seconds), the client can continue until the next
error.
A few additional pieces of info.
The data returned is an array, but there isn't any consistancy to the
size of the data set. Some will be single element arrays while others
will have 8-10 elements. The amount of data in each element is only
a string of a couple hundred characters, so it is not a large data
stream. Systems on the same network segment can go for a while (sometimes
going on 10 minutes) before getting this error, while remote offices
going over slower links will get an immediate InteruptedIOException.
We have a process in place that if it catches an InterruptedIOException
it loops and tries the procedure again, however a 4 minute wait
between loops just isn't acceptable. We tried lowering this by
placing the following lines into our weblogic.properties file:
weblogic.system.periodLength=15
weblogic.system.idlePeriodsUntilTimeout=4
However, this has had zero impact on the timeout. Are there programatic
ways of changings these values? Or to force a blocking connection that
will force the data pipe to stay open? Has anyone had any insight into
any similar problems? Unfortunately, due to the size of the company,
the environment is fixed, and no mass upgrades are a vaiable option.

Hi Cliff,
it seems as if we have a similar problem within WLS51sp13 and a Java
Client (Servlet within Tomcat). We found that an EJB Stub within the
Client App has a 180s timeout, if the server socket didn't close
(Network problem or similar). I friend gave me a hint setting this
parameter on both sides, client and Server: It works. It seems as if the
server takes the bigger value of both values set.

SQL problem with JSP

In sql statements with JSP. Heres the deal:
Access database:
Tablename: EVENT
FieldName: event_id
DataType: Number
I want to compare the event_id to an integer variable called "var" in a WHERE clause in an SQL statement through a JSP.
String query = "SELECT * FROM EVENT WHERE EVENT.event_id = 'var' ";
It says "Data type mismatch in criteria expression."
Any Suggestions? I thought this should be straight forward! am i missing something?

if i am reading correctly "var" is an int variable correct? If this is the case then the following will work;
String query = "SELECT * FROM EVENT WHERE EVENT.event_id = " + Interger.toString(var) ;

JSTL problem with JSP

Hi,
I am developing enterprise application using jboss portlets, ejb, jsp, jstl, other stuff on jboss AS.
I am facing some interesting problem in a jsp page which uses jstl. I have configured all jsp configurations with my web application.
Presently i am putting an endpage, current page integer values in a session.
In JSP page whenever i want to iterate a loop and some checks on endPage, curPage it gives me NumberFormatException and finally it results to compile the jsp page.
The error comes when i am using these variables from session with JSTL tags. The snippet where the problem seems to be is as :

May anyone help me on this or whether the there may be some problems with the JSTL configurations ?
In my view JSTL configurations is ok but the problems seems to be in the statements above or there may be some other way to define it.

Problems with JSP-ApplicationModule pooling in runtime

Hello!
I have an urgent Problem with the ApplicationModule Pooling in Runtime. The Application uses JSP with BC4J and is deployed on Tomcat 3.1 and MS IIS 4.0 (The Client want to use this MS-Product). We use JDev 3.1.1.2 for development.
Now my Problem:
A user start the IE4 and log on to the application and it works fine. They log off and log in again a second time and then the user gets a NullPointerException at the point when the Application wants to checkout a new instance from the ApplicationModule Pool. The next time he logs on it works fine again and the next time not and so on. Every second time the user logs on he gets a NullPointerException.
But there are three AdminUsers and with these users are no Problems.
Can anyone help me or has someone the same problems?

I've written this jsp and I'm getting problems with the hibernate part. It says that org.hibernate.Session and org.hibernate.Query cannot be resolve although I have imported them.
I know there are probably a lot of wrong things in it so please can anyone tell me how to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Your hibernate classes need to be available to the web application classpath.
That normally means the WEB-INF/lib directory.
This sort of code is best done in a bean in any case, rather than a JSP.

JavaBeans Problems with JSP

I am having some serious problems with getting a JSP to access a JavaBean that I have created. I am using Tomcat and Java 1.4 by the way.
I have set my classpath and all other code continues to work apart from the accessing of the JavaBean. I have created a JavaBean which is as follows:

Problems with JSP in Firefox

I have seen several references to this problem on this forum but no real solution on any of the pages I have found. My jsp, which right now is no more than a static HTML page with jsp as the extension so that I can add the java code later, will not display in firefox it only shows the source code when I go to my website. Problems with JSP and MySql bean.

I have deployed the page on tomcat and it works fine, except that the sqlinjektion does basically nothing. I have installed the mysql driver. I think there is something wrong with the java class, or the way im calling it. It does not produce any error. But its like it would never actually process the java code, because ive tried to append things to error string to see what is going on, nothing happens. everything stay null, no exceptions are thrown. If I implement the code to JSP itself, it does load the driver and print exception that there is no connection to database (which is correct). What am I missing? Code follows:

Bizarre thread problem with JSP

I'm having a strange problem using JSPs whereby a single method call to a
          bean results in 2 execute threads being created each executing the method
          called.
          I have a bean reference in the jsp that has session scope declared like this
          (package names left off):

          <% deployment.init(application); %>
          </jsp:useBean>
          I've also set the isThreadSafe value to "false" (since I'm trying to
          prevent/figure out what's going on):

          Within the JSP body I have code that makes the method call on the deployment
          bean:
          if (action.equals("Send"))
          int status = deployment.send();
          Then, within my form I have:
          <INPUT TYPE="image" SRC="../images/Deploy.gif"

          'Deploying Application to server <%=
          deployment.getServer() %>')"/>
          Where the functions called are:

I found the problem, although I don't completely understand the behavior:
          The FORM was not handling the submit event, leaving it to the whim of the
          browser to have its way with the event. Although it sometime ended up
          having two threads serving the request, it didn't always.
          The solution was to put an onSubmit=="return false;" in the <form>

Bridging problem with multiple vlans

Hello Everyone, I am using two 1310 bridges in a root / non-root setup. The switches on both sides of the wireless bridge were setup to trunk native vlan 253. Each wireless bridge also had vlan 253 setup as a Radio and Ethernet Interface. In this config, the wireless bridges could associate and ping each other, but the switches on each side could not ping each other?s management vlan interface (Vlan 25). The only way to get traffic to pass to the corresponding switches on each side of the wireless bridge was to use vlan 253 for everything. We also see this problem with some of our other 1310 bridge connections at other plants. Has anyone seen this problem or a similar problem before?

Er, dunno if you have any insight on my issue. I'm trying to get 2 AP1231s (12.3-8) in bridge mode (root/non-root, antennas transmit/receive right) that have 4 VLANs going across the airwaves. Now, the bridges are associated, they can see each other's IP address, but will they ping? Absolutely not! VLAN20 is the native assigned to bridge-group 1, I've tried IP addresses on the BVI1, dot11Radio 0.20 and fa0.20 interfaces with no luck. There's no other fancy configuration options applied, just 4 VLANs going across two associated bridges. Any ideas? Appreciate any assistance you can offer.
I'd already found the document that Rob recommended beforehand and that proved useful in getting the units to associate. Now I just need a ping! A PC connected to the non-root bridge's Ethernet port via a Xover cable is able to ping the non-root bridge but that's as far as it goes.
Root bridge config attached. No IP assigned on this copy but as advised, tried a few scenarios!

Apache/Jserv Config Problem with JSP

Problem: Any JSP that contains a bean reference is not being loaded correctly.
The first thing I did was to create a softlink from the ".../Apache/Apache/htdocs" directory to
the directory which contains my *.html and *.jsp files (as instructed in the httpd.conf file).
Then, I followed the instructions on page A-9 of "OracleJSP Developer's Guide and
Reference, Release 1.1.0.0.0". They instruct you to add a wrapper.classpath entry into
jserv.properties that points at your directory that contains the .class files for your bean
classes. I did this too.
I then attempted to load my JSP file from the browser URL entry line. If my JSP does not contain
a reference to a bean, then the page loads fine. If it contains a reference to a bean, then I
get the following message:

I cannot for the life of me get Apache to look in one directory for the .jsp file and another for

MORE BACKGROUND:
If it matters..... My first venture was servlets and I've managed to workt that just fine: I
successfully modified "jserv.conf" to add a mount point (ApJServMount) for my new servlet zone
which I have specified in "jserv.properties". I have also created an associated properties file
for my new servlet zone. I've tested this configuration and all works fine for servlets, just not
JSP.

The first thing I did was to create a softlink from the ".../Apache/Apache/htdocs" directory to
the directory which contains my *.html and *.jsp files (as instructed in the httpd.conf file).
Then, I followed the instructions on page A-9 of "OracleJSP Developer's Guide and
Reference, Release 1.1.0.0.0". They instruct you to add a wrapper.classpath entry into
jserv.properties that points at your directory that contains the .class files for your bean
classes. I did this too.
I then attempted to load my JSP file from the browser URL entry line. If my JSP does not contain
a reference to a bean, then the page loads fine. If it contains a reference to a bean, then I
get the following message:
Request URI:/webdocs/vps/hellouser/hellouser.jsp
Exception:
oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: Line # 4, Error: Unable to find class for bean: myBean defined
by tag with class: hello.NameHandler
I cannot for the life of me get Apache to look in one directory for the .jsp file and another for
the .class file(s). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
MORE BACKGROUND:
If it matters..... My first venture was servlets and I've managed to workt that just fine: I
successfully modified "jserv.conf" to add a mount point (ApJServMount) for my new servlet zone
which I have specified in "jserv.properties". I have also created an associated properties file
for my new servlet zone. I've tested this configuration and all works fine for servlets, just not
JSP.
