Weblogic portal 10.3 running on local machine

could not find if this was already discussed ...
is it just me, or bewteen Weblogic Portal 9.2 and 10.3 the difference in
performance in drastically in favour of the former.
I am running locally and 10.3 seems to take almost all resources of my machine,
taking a couple of good minutes to start.
Is it any change in configuration that would improve performance while
developing locally from Workshop?
thanks,
Stefan

if you are directly deploying your application developed in WLW to WLP, you need to add the runtime and access it through WLW.
portlet container itself is quite heavy and WLW can make it slow. I personally have also faced the same issue with 2gig of mem.
I would suggest either to increase the memory or try deploying and testing outside the WLW (i know it is not quite a good option)

    Hi Asma,
    Lai had a good suggestion for you to check on the local machine. Did that help?
    There are known issues with hostnames that contain an underscore "_" or other characters that are not commonly used for hostnames.
    Thank you,

  • Need Help with Weblogic Portal WSRP setup on IE10 & above

    Hello,
    My client hosts weblogic Portal server and consumes portlets built in .Net. These work fine in all browsers except for IE10 and above.
    In IE10 and above, none of the click events seem to work. This does not generate any error in the browser or in the application on my end.
    I have setup Oracle Weblogic Portal 10gR3 locally on my Windows 7 box and I have added my application running on local machine as producer, so I am able to add break points and step through the code.
    I confirmed that every click event triggers a response but the view in the portal does not change.
    When I try to load the portlet directly in browser, every thing works fine.
    Only different thing I did different to handle multiple instances of same portlets is to add namespaces to all function names
    Original:
    var theForm = document.forms['form1'];
    if (!theForm) {
      theForm = document.form1;
    function __doPostBack(eventTarget, eventArgument) {
      if (!theForm.onsubmit || (theForm.onsubmit() != false)) {
      theForm.__EVENTTARGET.value = eventTarget;
      theForm.__EVENTARGUMENT.value = eventArgument;
      theForm.submit();

  • Clustering of Weblogic Portal Server 10.3

    Hello Everyone,
    Can someone please let me know the implementation steps to configure weblogic portal cluster enviromnent in 2 physical machines..

    Thanks Jay & Ravi but i am still having issues with the clustering, Let me explain:
    I have followed all the steps mentioned in link(http://jaysensharma.wordpress.com/2010/01/08/struts-2-0-in-weblogic/#comment-136). The admin server, Managed server 1 are in Machine A and Managed server 2 is in Machine B. I have also configured Node Manager in both the machines and both are reachable. I was able to start Managed server 1(which resides in Machine A) but while starting Managed Server 2(which resides in Machine B). I am getting the following exceptions:

    First you install a JDK6 version after which you can install your WebLogic and Forms, Reports...
    A step-by-step example is presented here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7265
    Look in the 'Install WebLogic' section. Note that you probably do not have to create a separate user,
    also you can use HotSpot instead of JRockit.

    and your server address can be resolved or not?
    Are you accessing the server from Windows or Linux?
    - On Linux try editing the /etc/hosts file and add something like: 10.241.110.105 server1.etcetera
    - On Windows try editing the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and add something like: 10.241.110.105 server1.etcetera
    When this works, contact your system administrator and ask him or her to map an ip to your hostname in DNS and DHCP
    such that the servername automatically resolves the ip-address

    Reading the output from a object running in the local machine.
    By using a signed applet i am lunching a small application that returns an image object, how to read that without storing it in the hard disk.
    Which means i need to read the image object return by the local application using applet or jsp .
    i am using tomacat and an html page with an applet with it to lunch the application.

    You can write that image in a binary format using OutputStream for System.out and then read it in your applet.

    Hi.
    You can create new servers in your domain via the console. Be sure they are
    listening to different ports, however. If your NT machine supports more than
    1 IP address then you could alternatively bind each server to a different
    address.
    I'm not sure if this answers your question?

  • 11.5.10 Step by Step - Run istore from local machine for customization

    Hello,
    Does anyone have step by step instructions on using JDeveloper to run iStore JSPs on local machine with the end goal to customize JSPs? We have 11.5.10. I am using JDeveloper 9.0.3.5. Have tried following steps per lot of metalink notes but none seem to be working. Need to know exactly:
    - what Jdeveloper version to use for 11.5.10?
    - Where to download this version from?
    - Is it even possible to run iStore from local Windows machine using JDeveloper?
    - What is the main iStore page that should be run the 1st time?
    - Any expert available in USA for a 2 week paid assignment to help our team setup Jdeveloper for customization? And give intro lessons?
    Much Help...
    Thanks

    1. The Jdeveloper you use with 11.5.10 will depend on which ATG patch level you are at (see metalink note 416708.1)
    2. It will be in a metalink patch (see metalink note 4167708.1)
    3. I don't believe you can run it locally on a windows machine.
    4. Can't remember it off the top of my head but I will look back in my notes, I'm no longer working at the client site who has iStore.
    5. I know of 3 or 4 experts that I have worked with in Canada on JDeveloper/iStore/Configurator, I don't know anyone in the US but there has got to be a bunch out there looking for work.

  • How do you get values of local machine running applet on remote server?

    Hi,
    I have an applet that runs great running the html file on my local machine from a root directory. I've placed my code(java, class, and html files) on the web server and loaded the applet onto a page. The results are merely:
    "Computer Name: localhost"
    "IP Address : 127.0.0.1"
    Instead of:
    "Computer Name: ACTUALNAME"
    "IP Address : 189.40.20.211"
    etc...
    The code is as follows:
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.net.InetAddress;
    public class IPFinder extends Applet {
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    super.paint(g);
    try {
    InetAddress localaddr = InetAddress.getLocalHost () ;
    g.drawString("Computer Name: " + localaddr.getHostName (), 2, 13);
    g.drawString("IP Address : "+localaddr.getHostAddress (), 3, 25);
    g.drawString("", 3, 45);
    String str = localaddr.getHostName();
    InetAddress[] localaddrs = InetAddress.getAllByName ( str ) ;
    for ( int i=0 ; i<localaddrs.length ; i++ )
    if ( ! localaddrs[ i ].equals( localaddr ) )
    // g.drawString("Local hostname : " + localaddrs[ i].getHostName () , 3, (i+0)+50);
    g.drawString("Local IP Address("+i+"): " + localaddrs[ i].getHostAddress () , 3, (12*i)+((i+10)+45));
         }} } catch (Exception e) {
    g.drawString("Can't detect localhost : " + e +". Check Network settings.", 3, 60);
    public static void main(String[] args) { new IPFinder(); }
    I'm trying to get Real IP Addresses (as the code was setup to do) from a browser running on the web server. I have read some of the threads in this forum and some mention to use NetworkInterface while others recommended using Sockets (not an option since we do not use them), and another to use a signature as a workaround. Anyone know the best direction to get the results expected?
    Thanks in advance,
    Geoff-

    I have an applet that runs great running the html file
    on my local machine from a root directory. I've
    placed my code(java, class, and html files) on the web
    server and loaded the applet onto a page. The results
    are merely:
    "Computer Name: localhost"
    "IP Address : 127.0.0.1"This indicates that your applet when run over a web
    server has not the rights to query the local name and
    address. Look [url
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/net/InetAd
    ress.html#getLocalHost()]here. The so-called
    loopback address is 127.0.0.1
    Check your documentation for "signed jar" (or search
    the forum or the sun website) if you want to give your
    applet more rights, but I don't think that this is
    worth the effort in this case.
    gdsimz, since you already started two new threads based on my suggestion, how about at least saying "thank you" or "sorry, didn't help"?

    Thanks for pointing me in this direction Srini.<br>
              I tried to deploy the sample BlackBoxNoTx connector to WL 9.1 and it worked for me too. This got me wondering what was different in my connector. And then I realized it was the permission settings in my ra.xml :- <br><br>
              <security-permission><br>
              <description>Granting all permissions</description><br>
              <security-permission-spec><br>
              Â grant{permission java.security.AllPermission;};<br>
              </security-permission-spec><br>
              </security-permission><br>
              <br><br>
              Once I removed this from my descriptor, my connector deployed OK.
              <br><br>
              To be absolutely sure, I added the permission setting to the sample BlackBoxNoTx connector, regenerated the RAR, and redeployed it, upon which it failed with the exception that prompted me to start this thread in the first place.
              <br><br>
              Unfortunately, I cannot do away with the permission setting for my connector.
              <br><br>
              I am now more certain than ever that WL 9.1's backward compatibility with JCA 1.0 is suspect.
              <br>Anyone from BEA listening ????

              Is there a way I can file this for BEA to fix?
