WebLogic Portal Systems Integration

Hi,
We have an infrastructure which includes the following:
1. User Profile is stored in eCRM [Microsoft COM based Client-Server software]
2. LDAP Server which stores authentication profiles based on the User Profile in Point 1.
3. Web Logic Portal Server which handles writing and reading into LDAP and only reading into eCRM
We have a scenario where we need to automate this entire User Creation where the steps would follow the order
1. User Profile Creation in eCRM [We have modules to do this]
2. User Profile Creation in LDAP [We have modules to do this]
3. Sending Emails from Portal Server [We have modules to do this]
The problem is that when User Profile is created in eCRM and since it is not Java compliant, the user Profile Creation in LDAP cannot be instantiated.
We have some ideas to implement this in any one of the following options
1. Running a Custom Thread to lookup a table and process data
2. JMS
3. ???
We need some recommendations on how we can handle this.

I am not sure I fully understand your problem, we try anyways.
Are you using Unified User Profile ?
The reason I ask this is because this sounds like a problem that easily could be solved with the two following portal mechanisms
1. Unified User Profile
2. Event mechanism
That is, gather all your user profile stuff into the unified user profile implementing the necessary interfaces. Combine this with generating an event on user profile creation. An email generator will then listen for events of type UserCreated ( eg. ) and extract information from the event to build the email message.

Poor Performance of the WebLogic Portal System

Hi,
I am facing one issue which has become bottleneck over the time as far as the development of my application is concerned.
My problem is that when i run and wish to see my portal page (Web Page)on Internet Explorer/Mozzila Firefox it takes so much time to get rendered (appx 10 mins). This is affecting the productivity as the page rendering is a frequent process to see the output of your work/changes made.
I would be very thankful if anyone can guide me what is wrong. Is this problem is with me only? Why Weblogic Portal system so slow as compared to other Portal systems like Microsoft's Sharepoint and IBM's Webshpere Portal system.
I am using Weblogic Portal v10.
CPU is 3.2 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 3 MB Cache.
Please guide. I would appreciate if one can provide some way out to speed up the page rendering. I have tried changing the Heap Size etc but failed.

We need to narrow that down, it may be something in your portlet implementation. An easy way to get an idea would be to take a series of Java thread dumps of the WLP server instance while it is processing that portlet. On Windows, press CTRL-Break or Google for the way to do it for your platform.
It will print out what each thread is working on - if you see your code in there over a period of time, you've got a problem in your portlet. If it is stuck in WLP code, let us know.

I too was facing this problem initially but on windows machine. This problem occurs because p13nDataSource is not configured and its still pointing to the POINTBASE data base. Point it to Oracle database and then test the connection. Once the Connection Test is sucessful go to Run Database Script. Select the correct version of Oracle i.e. 8i, 9i or 10g. Then select on DataSource from in the top left corner. Only two DataSource needs to be configured. cgDataSource-nonXA and p13nDataSource.Select these Data Source one after another and Run the scripts once this is done u can configure the WLI Domain.
This is done once configuring the WLI Domain.
I would post the corrective measure for the Domain which has been already created. If the issue is blocking u can create a new domain:-)

Weblogic Portal integration with Lotus 8.5

I'm working on a project which involves building an intranet Portal and the customer has Lotus 8.5 which wants to integrate in the Weblogic Portal using wsrp portlets. More precisely they want to have in their portal the lotus calendar portlet, lotus mail portlet,lotus notes portlet, lotus sametime portlet ..etc. I found an old documentation and sample of this kind of portlets developed by Oracle but they don't work because of some errors when they try to retrieve the Lotus configuration. I tried to find the authors of this documentation, or perhaps who developed the portlets and ask them if they can adapt the portlets for an integration between Weblogic Portale and Lotus Notes 8.5. Download the software from the Oracle Software Downloads site. " - there is nothing related to Portlets for Groupware on OTN.
Now, I'm ashame but I have to give up, I guess perhaps this portlets for groupware integration are bundeled into some kit with a different name, I don't know, believe me I tried to find them, I searched the documentation but with no luck.
I would be very thankful if you can point me to the installer of this portlets. Thank you very much again !

Since only folders_g can be used for integrating with Webcenter Spaces/Portal we are not sure of what our strategy should be. Is there plan to use framework folders with Webenter in the future?Certainly there are. Unfortunately, no exact date/release has been communicated so far. If you need a quick implementation (following few next months) I'm afraid you will have to go with folder_g

Integration of third party application on Weblogic Portal 10.3

Hi,
Need help on how can we integrate a third party application running on HTTP with weblogic portal application.
SCENARIO
we have a separate linux box running an application using PHP, MySQL & Apache.
We want to render this on portal using CPP (Content Presenter Portlets) or HTML/JSP portlets.
One way I can think of is to use IFrame in HTML/JSP portlets & involve the URL of this application.
Is there anyway to use WSRP?
I read the documentation on WSRP - It says that even a non-portal application can be integrated but that application should be having portlets running.
But this 3rd party doesn't have any portlets running.
Can anyone help on the same?

SAP Erec System Integration with Portal

We have installed a new erec system in Sap nw 7.02 abap system which has to be integrated with Existing portal system. There is another existing HR system(ecc6.0 ehp ) which is already connected to portal. What are the steps to be followed for Integrating Erec system with portal.

The old edocs.bea.com documentation sucks and does not meet the oracle press standard.

The Beta 9.2 Team,
9.2 features sounds good and interesting. We are using BEA's Content management system(8.1) extensively.
Our requirement is to create a portlet for Content Owner/Users to create HTML documents with images and upload it into BEA Repository. Upon uploading, Content Admin needs to be notified through email and they will either approve or reject the document. The content status again needs to be notified to the content owner/user via email.
1. As known to everyone 8.1 doesn't have WYSIWYG editor and is included in 9.2. Can i reuse the 9.2 WYSIWYG functionality into 8.1 as a portlet??
2. The following thread(http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=400001479&tstart=0) says
- workflow ==> We have limited workflow support. We plan to enhance this in our next major release.
Does this limited workflow support include email notification?

Integrating a non-Portal system via a web service SSO

Hi all,
Hope you could help with this scenario. There is a request from a client to integrate a non-Portal website into their Portal system via a single-sign on web service. In particular,
1. Portal user will see an iView in the Portal with the following form elements:
     --username field
     --employee ID field
     --submit button
     *there will be no password field because it is already fixed (can be fixed/hardcoded in the web service call)
2. Upon clicking the Submit button, the web service call is executed
     --the web service response contains a URL (which is the non-Portal website)
3. The Portal automatically displays the contents of the URL in the iView
Is this a feasible scenario? What is the best way to implement this?

You are going in the right direction. I can give some technical input like you need to create the wsdl and need to create a stub after that using this wsdl and inside this stub all the informations will need to be mentioned.

2. How to enable SSO between Portals & Cognos? Cognos should use the portal users credentials for authentication

Basically I am saying that your options are
1. Screenscraping the apps into portlets
2. Using SSO to login to the apps, but keepin them separate
3. Using Web Services to consume parts of the apps and exposing those as portlets
For our application we do 2 and 3. In many cases we just create portlets that represents views into other j2ee apps. When the users click on something, we launch the j2ee app in a popup browser. The users are already signed on, and taken to a specific detail page, add page or something within the app directly.

I have a tutorial at Oracle with that but in this document says that i need to :

Here's my thoughts on how I think this works. I think you need to have an Authentication Provider or Identity Asserter that plugs into the WLS Security Provider framework that understands the Oracle Access Manager provided token (or whatever mechanism OAM is using to pass the user credentials). That piece will be responsible for creating the principal and groups in the WLS security framework. In WLP, you use Visitor Entitlement Roles to secure things like portlets. The visitor entitlements roles can be defined by many attributes (user profile, date time, request, etc). One of which is the groups that the Authorization Provider or Identity Asserter reports. You might want to post this in the WebLogic Portal forum as well.

This is a bit of a tall order, from what I understand Cognos uses webservices, if this is the case once you have set it up you can use weblogic workshop to create java controls that "talk" to your Cognos web services. Once you have your java controls whatever J2EE application you have running on BEA Weblogic can use the services provided by Cognos by calling the appropriate methods on the controls. Hope this puts you in the right direction.
