Weblogic server closed connection after idle timeout

I have the Weblogic webserver set up to automatically come on at 0600 each morning. This morning I received the following error message and the server was displaying an Error 503--Service Unavailable message:
Here is the output form the log file:" Does anyone have any idea as to why the idle timeout closed the connectino to the server. This has never happened before?

  • MySQL: first connection after idle awhile is very slow

    Hello,
The login process for my site is always very slow (45s) for the first request. Once the first login has completed and I can logout and login with different uid/pwd and it responds very quickly (1-2seconds)
If the site is idle for awhile and then attempt a login, it is again 45s for the first login.
This only occurs for one my sites, the others work fine.
Any ideas? I feel like I'm shooting in the dark to find an answer.
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I see now my post was confusing regarding the login.
I mean the website's login process, for a registered user to access the site.
It's during that process that this problem seems to occur.
The user types in their login credentials and clicks 'submit'. The Login script checks the connection pool for an available connection and gets one if it is available. Otherwise, it will create a new direct connection. Then it executes the Login SQL, closes the statement and result set and returns the connection the pool (if applicable).
What is confusing is that everything works so fast after this initial transaction with the long delay has completed.
I'm wondering if perhaps the connection go idle or close after awhile and when I test them it sits on a long timeout then recreates the connections in the pool.
I test the connection with conn.setAutoCommit( true );     and if I don't catch an SQLException I expect everything to be ok.
I will look into your comments regarding things being swapped out, dummy queries.
    Thanks

  • Weblogic: Server closes connection in between.

    Hi,
I am using weblogic server 5.1. It hosts an application in which multiple users logs in and performs different activities.
In one case my browser(IE6.0 or Firefox) expires while waiting for the response. Later I concluded that it was the server which closes the connection(used ethereal).
When this server closes connection, it doesnt throw out any exceptions. Even after browser expires, servlet keeps executing its operations(I can view this at weblogic console). But after this, NOBODY is able to login to the application. It seems that the crashed process has completely eaten up its resources.
Can anybody give some hints how to approach this situation.
    Thanks in advance,
    Maymon.

duplicate post ? I suggest posting the thread dump from the server when it goes into the hang situation.

  • Datasocket Server looses connections after a few hours "Parsing URL"

    Hi there,
I need some help cause the DataSocket server is doing some bad stuff...!
The server runs on a WinNT 4.0 platform as a datalogger. It works fine, but after a few hours it seems the server looses connection somehow, the datasocket status of the frontpanel elements tells: "Connecting: Parsing URL" .
The server has about 5 DINT variables and about 3 clusters containing INT variables (size about 30).
I really ran out of ideas aof what happens on this "old" machine, maybe someone had some preblems like me and solved them....
    Thank for hints and tipps!

    Hello,
what service packs for Windows NT have you installed?
Datasocket server crashes after a short period of time when diagnostic
window is open (Tools->Diagnostics). Disable the "Auto-Refresh"
option in the Diagnostic Dialog from the Options menu.

  • WLS 8.1 SP5 Message bridge doesn't refresh connection after idle time out

    Hi,
I am seeing in the log after enabling the debug flags that message bridge intermittently stops refreshing the connection without logging further info and causing a production failure.Bridge is forwarding the message from WLS 8.1..5 DQ to the remote MQ 6.0 queue.
Below is the snippet which doesn't come in the log which suggests that bridge stops refreshing the connection.
<BEA-200027> <Bridge "CASLDNSenderBridge" works in asynchronous mode and has not received messages for the predefined maximum idle time. The connections to the adapters will be interrupted and reestablished.>
The above message does appear everytime but intermittently it stops and the messages put after this leading to the exceptions. The bridge has been configured in asynchronous mode and the idle time out is configured as 60 secs.
Can somebody please let me know if there is any known issue with 8.1 SP5 where message bridge stops refreshing connection intermittently or how to debug this further.

I would normally suggest raising the issue with support, but I recall hearing that 8.1 is nearing the end of its support cycle, so I'm not sure that's an option for you. Other options:
    - try upgrading to a newer SP, or better yet, a new version of WebLogic
    - try changing to synchronous forwarding
    - examine thread dumps from when the bridge appears to be stalled
    - post the exception that bridge is throwing when it tries to connect
    - try patching MQ (the problem could be on the MQ side, and perhaps an older version of the bridge may not be fully capable of handling all of MQs minor quirks)
    - write a program to (A) detect inactivity on the src destination, and (B) somehow restart the bridge and/or all of WL when this occurs

  • Status : Failure -I/O Error: DB server closed connection.

I am trying to use SQL Developer to migrate several SQL server database's into Oracle.  Some of them are hosted in a SQL Server 2000 instance and the rest are on SQL Server 2005.  I am able to connect to the SQL Server 2000 databases without issue, but not the 2005 databases.  I have followed every step in several different forum posts all to no avail.  Why is SQL Developer fine with the 2000 instances, but flatly refuses to connect to the 2005's?  I have zero problems connecting to the databases using TOAD or Management studio.
    1. I am having this same issue with SQL Developer versions 2.11, 3.1.0.7  and also 4.0.3.16
    2. TC/IP is enabled
    2. I am using the 1.2 jar file
    3. I have put the SSO folder in my PATH
    4. I have copied the ntlmauth.dll file to every bin directory I can find
    5. I've also copied the JtdsXA.dll to every bin directory I can find.
    6. I know exactly what my port numbers are, and they are NOT 1433.
    7. I have tried every combination of connection name, and port with and without database and instance name added.
    8. I have a valid account and password set up using SQL Server authentication, and I also have a valid account using windows authentication that have both been verified by using TOAD and Management Studio.
    9. I am also receiving the following error trying to use windows authentication through SQL Developer and have followed all instructions I could find to fix it to no avail:  Status : Failure -I/O Error: SSO Failed: Native SSPI library not loaded. Check the java.library.path system property.

Before You Start Migrating: General Information
You may need to perform certain tasks before you start migrating a third-party database to an Oracle database. See the following for more information:
See also any information specific to the source database that you will be migrating, as explained in Before You Start Migrating: Source-Specific Information.
Note: SQL Developer does not migrate grant information from the source database. The Oracle DBA must adjust (as appropriate) user, login, and grant specifications after the migration.
Note: Oracle recommends that you make a complete backup of the source database before starting the migration. For more information about backing up the source database, see the documentation for that type of database.
If possible, begin the migration using a development or test environment, not a production database.
Creating a Database User for the Migration Repository
SQL Developer requires a migration repository to migrate a third-party database to an Oracle database. To use an Oracle database for the migration repository, you must have access to that database using a database user account. Oracle recommends that you use a specific user account for migrations, For example, you may want to create a user named MIGRATIONS, create a database connection to that user, and use that connection for the migration repository; and if you wish, you can later delete the MIGRATIONS user to remove all traces of the migration from the database.
When you create a user for migrations, specify the tablespace information as in the following example, instead of using the defaults for tablespaces:
CREATE USER migrations IDENTIFIED BY <password>
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp,
Do not use a standard account (for example, SYSTEM) for migration.
When SQL Developer creates a migration repository, it creates many schema objects that are intended only for its own use. For example, it creates tables, views, indexes, packages, and triggers, many with names starting with MD_ and MIGR. You should not directly modify these objects or any data stored in them.
Requirements for Creating the Destination Oracle Objects
The user associated with the Oracle database connection used to perform the migration (that is, to run the script containing the generated DDL statements) must have the following roles and privileges:
Note: You must grant these privileges directly to a user account. Granting the privileges to a role, which is subsequently granted to a user account, does not suffice. You cannot migrate a database as the user SYS.
    Roles
    CONNECT WITH ADMIN OPTION
    RESOURCE WITH ADMIN OPTION
    Privileges
    ALTER ANY ROLE
    ALTER ANY SEQUENCE
    ALTER ANY TABLE
    ALTER TABLESPACE
    ALTER ANY TRIGGER
    COMMENT ANY TABLE
    CREATE ANY SEQUENCE
    CREATE ANY TABLE
    CREATE ANY TRIGGER
    CREATE VIEW WITH ADMIN OPTION
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW WITH ADMIN OPTION
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM WITH ADMIN OPTION
    CREATE ROLE
    CREATE USER
    DROP ANY SEQUENCE
    DROP ANY TABLE
    DROP ANY TRIGGER
    DROP USER
    DROP ANY ROLE
    GRANT ANY ROLE
    INSERT ANY TABLE
    SELECT ANY TABLE
    UPDATE ANY TABLE
For example, you can create a user called migrations with the minimum required privileges required to migrate a database by using the following commands:
CREATE USER migrations IDENTIFIED BY password
      DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW,
       CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO migrations WITH ADMIN OPTION;
GRANT  ALTER ANY ROLE, ALTER ANY SEQUENCE, ALTER ANY TABLE, ALTER TABLESPACE,
ALTER ANY TRIGGER, COMMENT ANY TABLE, CREATE ANY SEQUENCE, CREATE ANY TABLE,
CREATE ANY TRIGGER, CREATE ROLE, CREATE TABLESPACE, CREATE USER, DROP ANY
SEQUENCE, DROP ANY TABLE, DROP ANY TRIGGER, DROP TABLESPACE, DROP USER, DROP ANY
ROLE, GRANT ANY ROLE, INSERT ANY TABLE, SELECT ANY TABLE, UPDATE ANY TABLE TO
    migrations;
After you have created the converted model and done first DDL generation done for the new database, it will be clear from the scripts which privileges will be required for your situation.

  • Lion won't go to sleep after idle timeout

Hello all. Just a quick question: I've just configured "computer sleep" timeout to 5 minutes in Energy Saver preferences but it looks like there is something wrong with it and my MBP is not going to sleep after timeout. On the other hand screen is correctly going to sleep. I've also tried login out and in and leaving system running without any app.
Any clue? Or is that just me missing something?
    Thank you,
    William

Ok I've been researching and dealing with this problem for a few weeks now.  I've read all the forums and tried all the recommended fixes.  I'll list all that I did in the order that I did them.  The sleep problem is fixed for me now.  There are a few things in here that I never saw suggested, especially the last one.  But first of all I have an Intel 27" iMac i7. Purchased new in Sept 2011.  Love the machine, best Mac I've ever owned.  I have 5 of them.  I loaded it from my 2006 Intel 24" iMac, using Migration Assistant while running snow leopard.  Soon after that I loaded Lion, sometime after that I started noticing the lack of sleep issues.  It started out that it wouldn't auto sleep, but I would just sleep the machine using the power button or the Apple menu.  About 3 weeks ago even those would not sleep the machine. Below is my process for hunting down this little bug.  Between each of these a reboot and sleep test was performed.
    1.  Make sure everything is up to date.
    2.  Loaded a piece of freeware called PleaseSleep, worked for a while but then stopped working when the hardware buttons wouldn't work.
    3.  Unplugged all peripherals, turned off wifi
    4.  Turned off all sharing preferences
    5.  Plugged on an old USB mouse and turned off Bluetooth, including settings that allow Bluetooth to wake computer
    6.  Reboot into Safe Mode
    7.  Called apple support and performed a hard reset of the whole system, Shutdown Machine>Unplug From back of machine>Hold power button for 10 seconds>Plug back in>Startup.
    8.  Created a Spare User account in order to test a blank or default set of user preferences.
    9.  Downloaded the 10.7.3 Combo Updater and reinstalled the Lion updates.
    10.  Switched into the Guest user account.  Tested sleep (Success!!!!!!!)  Rebooted back to normal  Tested Sleep (Success!!!!!!)
I'm not willing to say that just #10 was the one and only answer.  At this point I haven't turned on wake from Bluetooth yet.  It will auto sleep and sleep from menu or by pushing power button, but to wake I'm pushing the power button.  I do have all my Bluetooth peripherals back connected.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • WebLogic Server doesn't start after configuring a Custom Realm

    Hi,
We are having problems getting WebLogic server to startup after configuring a
Custom Realm. It outputs the error message "User System not authorized to boot
    WebLogic Server. Security Excpetion".
For debugging purposed we had our Custom Realm classes output some debug statements
to the console. From the output it was apparent that all the users were getting
authenticated properly including System, Administrator, wliSystem etc. But after
the initial authentications we get this error message. I am attaching the log
file for your reference. Do we have to implement Authorization also (by implementing
ACLImpl) in the Custom Realm. Our Custom Realm was planned to be used only for
    authentication.
Appreciate any feedback on the cause of the problem.

    Vikram,
You should make your user that you use to startup the server a member
    of
    the Administrators group.
In other words there should be a Principal "Administrators" in the
    Subject that your LoginModule returns.
I'm not sure if you can configure this afterwards but this is how it's
    done out of the box.

    Mike,
We are working with a Platform domain on Weblogic 7.0. When you implementa custom
realm it can be implemented just for authentication and not for authorization.
In our case we used the Custom Realm only for authentication. ACLs storeall the
authorization information. We assumed that the standard Weblogic useraccounts
like system, administrator are already part of the ACLs with the appropriateprivileges.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

You mix up authentication and authorization. The fact that a user is

The second is defined by ACLs or something, which is probably (most

    not

  • Problem with links in deployed ADF application to Weblogic Server 11g

    Hi everyone !
I have a query here, firstly, I have created an ADF application using Jdeveloper 11g and have successfully deployed (EAR file) onto the weblogic server.
However, after testing out the application, the linking within the application does not seem to work. Whenever I click on a link or button, the page refreshes but the result is not displayed.
What could have cause the problem?
    Thanks

Are the ADF runtime libraries installed into the WebLogic server?

I experienced similar (identical?) problem after upgrading WLS 9.2 with MP2.
In my case simple setting the following fields from the tab 'Server Start': Java Home and Classpath resolved problem.

  • Error Starting WebLogic Server 5.1 (SP11)

    Hi,
I have installed weblogic server 5.1 (SP11) in NT, I tried to start the Weblogic
Server and got the message "weblogic server started", immediatly after that I
got the message " IIOP service not started as vm 1.3 was not found". Do you know
what could be causing these IIOP error message?. Any help.
    Thanks in advance,
    RChandra

51 SP11 is shipped with IIOP stuff and by default this sub-system is enabled.
If you don't want IIOP, you can turn it off with the following system property
    -Dweblogic.system.enableIIOP=false weblogic.Server
Otherwise make sure to start the server with 1.3 VM .

    Hi.
You are not starting WLS with JDK 1.3.x. If you need IIOP then you need to get a 1.3 JDK, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Start and stop Weblogic Server 5.1 on unix system

    Hello,
How do I stop Weblogic Server 5.1 after I run startWebLogic.sh without
Weblogic Console? What's the best way to start weblogic Server in unix?
Create a user "weblogic" and start manually everytime I reboot the system or
    build a script?
    Thanks,

What's the best way to start weblogic Server in unix?I would suggest you start the WLS from command line using our
build script or your own customized scripts.

  • Closing the database connection after report in a server application

I searched these forums and the internet for a definitive answer on asking the Crystal SDK for java to close the jdbc connection after it has generated a report.  We have been using the Crystal Report SDK to generate reports within our JEE application, built upon the Spring framework, for the past two years.  It works well, especially if you prepare views in the database for your reports.
From what I can tell once you have used ReportClientDocument to create your report you all the close() method to release resources associated with report generation, but this does not close the jdbc database connection.
Further research states that if you are using the CrystalReportViewer you can call the dispose method to close the database connection.  We are not using JSP nor this class, so that does us little good.
Finally I found a post that one could call ((AdvancedReportDocument)reportClientDocument.getReportSource()).dispose().  This doesn't drop the connection either.
Each report actually opens 3 connections according to SQL Server.  Each report will reuse the connections it has open, so for 50 reports, theoretically, we could have up to 150 connections.  We explained to our client those connections  remain inactive, however this is unacceptable to our client as they would like to minimize the number of connections left open to their database.
If anyone can post any further information on this issue, it is much appreciated.

Yes, another team member found the issue.  Quite embarrassing really I didn't see it.  I was looking for the answer within Crystal's libraries.  It had nothing to do with Crystal.
The developer who wrote the helper code for using Crystal first opened a connection to the datasource for the live production database and read that connection information for the report. Next he set that connection information in the report template's PropertyBag, then ran the report. The developer however forgot to close the connection he used to look up the connection info, leaving a memory leak and using up all the connections.
I'm glad you inquired.  I forgot to post the resolution here.
